Yeah, I caught that too. I think he may have been thinking about convection or conduction , maybe the latter. Flash evaporation is a thing, but apparently it's called 'flash evaporation'. Although the play-by-play was fun to listen to, the whole premise is dumb because the second you feel heat in excess of 175 deg F, your survival instincts will kick in and your plans will change. I don't care how big you think your nuts are, the air column over that ladle is more than enough to turn your blood into pudding in a few minutes. No one who isn't on bath salts would hang on a chain (which is also starting to get warm) for more than a few seconds without getting right back on whatever platform they just stepped off of - let alone waiting to be lowered, because the molten steel is under you and you need it in the shot too.

I was replacing a part for my work truck and ran into a little trouble so I figured I would go on RUclips for a quick tutorial. Here I am learning about what it feels like to be dipped in molten metal.
My dad is a retired iron worker of 25 years. He told me a story of when he was working in a mill that was processing molten steel. He, another man, and that man's son were all working on a cat walk above a crucible of molten metal. Sadly, the son somehow slipped and fell into the crucible of white hot metal which was bad enough, however it gets worse. My dad said that the man's father instinctively jumped in after his son. They were both just gone, like completely gone with a short scream and a spew of steam.
This just happened last month at Deka Battery in Pennsylvania. A man fell into the lead smelter. After 24 hours the smelter was finally cool enough to safely recover the body. I have no idea what was left to be honest. People I know who work there are pretty shaken up over it.
My grandfather was the head of safety in some plant back in the day and he said this actually happened, two workers fell in (back in the 70s). My mom said she remembered that he was gone from the house for almost a whole month because the investigations that happened after kept him on site nearly 24/7. I always wondered (morbidly) what happened to those two poor men...
@@ammarif618 No these things really do happen. In my country Slovakia, kind off near to my home, some 20 km we have metal industry that turns scrap metal into metal pipes. Father of my friend is a sort of security investigator in that company. Approximately a year ago there was an incident. A man in an industrial crane was picking up scrap metal from train wagons and delivering them into this hot ladle. Another man was standing near the edge of this ladle doing some measurements and the crane hit him so he fell into this hot metal. He fell head first. Only thing that remained was his hip down part of the body. The crane operator was proclaimed innocent becouse he didn't see him and the other man was not supposed to be there in that time. So he was innocent but he just went crazy, he just couldn't cope with that thought that he killed someone even if it was an accident and I believe he is now a psychological pacient. It's really sad how fast can accidents happen. (I am sorry for bad English as I mentioned I am from Slovakia)

Many years ago I read of two foundry workers that were working inside an empty crucible when an overhead container of molten metal was accidentally poured into it! The damage sequence you described was as unimaginably terrifying as it's possible to get!

Calling it before watching the video: It's basically like falling into a really hot skillet. The extremely high density of the metal would prevent you from sinking into it but some will stick to you as you fumble around in the few seconds you can still do so.
What a terrible way to go. Just seen the story tonight, on June 2nd 2022, poor guy fell in only 9 days on the job at the Caterpillar foundry. He was only 39 years old. RIP 🙏
Years ago, this happened at CF&I Steel in in Pueblo, Colorado when a worker fell into a ladle of molten steel that was ready for teeming (pouring the molten steel into ingot molds). The worker, of course, "went up like a spark." The ingots were poured but the workers in the soaking pits and rolling mills refused to handle the ingots after the molds were stripped away. CF&I eventually buried the ingots somewhere in the nearby Colorado plains.
UPDATE! There is now a record of this happening. A 39 year old was killed when he fell into a ladle at a Caterpillar foundry. He was not trting to recreate the T2 scene. OSHA found the foundry had spots with no fall protection around ladels and they were fined $145,027.

@bryan diaz varela , how is he breaching anything? No real names mentioned, no location, no company name, no date of the incident, nothing.
Calling it before watching the video:
It's basically like falling into a really hot skillet. The extremely high density of the metal would prevent you from sinking into it but some will stick to you as you fumble around in the few seconds you can still do so.
I'm Mark..thanks for using me as an example..
Oh, hi mark😆
lol
Thought the title said:
“Molten Mental Facility”
I just love how the mannequin as soon an it touches the molten metal says entusiastically:
"Godbyeeee"
It just 100x worse than if you are a robot. They poured molten gold into a priest's mouth in 'Vikings'.
Years ago on Guinness World Records tv show there was a guy who put molten metal, I wanna say lead? on his tongue for a minute
I never thought about this but now i seen the title imma watch the entire video
Being sandpapered to death by hand is always my go to.
Ok I could've gone about my life not knowing that.
This just happened in Mapleton Illinois Caterpillar yesterday. June 2nd 2022.
Short answer: you won’t drown easily, because you would just die slowly while standing on it’s platform and getting burned.
Me: I just fell down in a pit of molten metal
My boss: You’re still coming to work tomorrow, right?
"Be a pioneer"
Such inspiration
What a coincidence. Dark fate is coming and everyone is talking about T2.
I have read stories about steel mill accidents, and all of them cause an explosion.
Now do a video about Han Solo being frozen.
Please don't flag me FBI I swear in not making the 11th jigsaw movie...
Lol
!Comment Flagged by FBI!
And the CIA
If you’re not using this information to make a movie then what are you planning to use this information for?
FBI: Open Up!!!!
I don't get it
I haven't watched it yet. The fact that it's almost nine minutes long is terrifying by itself.
UPDATE! There is now a record of this happening. A 39 year old was killed when he fell into a ladle at a Caterpillar foundry. He was not trting to recreate the T2 scene. OSHA found the foundry had spots with no fall protection around ladels and they were fined $145,027.
