I woke up during my surgery while having bullets removed and I said “I’m awake” and the anesthesiologist leaned over me and said “not for long” and hit me with another dose.

I had a similar thing happen in forth grade to me. Getting my Appendix out they must have tapered me off too soon. I woke up and paralytic started to wear off. Could look around a move my fingers a little. No pain but I could feel them sewing my guts closed and pushing organs into place. Feels like getting a tooth pulled lots of pressure and tugging no pain. Luckily they noticed and went wide eyes and hit me with some more stuff. I have also been immune to laughing gas twice in my life at the dentist and usually I take twice the normal amount of local pain meds for surgeries. Some people just have resistance to it.

@Wubba Wubba the 3 million I got from children's hospital in Birmingham says otherwise but okay 🤷‍♂️ I'm js dude general anesthesia isnt as strong as doctors say it is. I've woke up under every surgery I've ever had. Tonsil surgery which was more twilight and I really dont remember it much. Appendicitis was general anesthesia and I woke up but couldn't move. Knee surgery was different though. I could legit do everything. All this while doctors had told me I'd be under general anesthesia. They all looked shocked when I moved.

Around 2010-2011, I broke my left shoulder, so it required surgery. I remember getting prepared to go in. I also remember the anaesthesia mask being placed on my face. Next thing I know during surgery, I was opening my eyes and everything blurry. And I remember seeing a couple of blurry figures around me. Then I heard someone say "ahhh I think we need more anaesthesia, he's waking up". Was kind of weird, but things happen.

They tape your eyes closed. You'd just feel locked in. Pain and sensations, you'd hear the conversation bit wouldn't even be able to raise your heart rate to indicate distress.
    It's happened.
The sedatives worn off before the muscle relaxant and anaesthesia.
You do patients a disservice by ignoring what they went through when they can reclaim the pain, sensation and converstaions around them.

Neither time I experienced this were my eyes taped closed. It depends on if they are fully closed as the procedure begins.

    • @Amoreyna
      @Amoreyna 3 года назад

@@johnaskings527 It's actually to prevent dryness and cornea abrasions (along with other accidental damage). Whether or not they are taped closed depends on the type of procedure/anesthesia used and the length, not if they fully closed at the time the procedure began. General anesthesia typically requires eyes to be taped closed as tear production slows and damage to the eyes becomes much more likely.

Oh, Oh! I'm finally special! I was part of that tiny, tiny number. I 'woke up' during a tooth extract/jaw maintenance surgery. I had needed the furthest back molars removed for braces. At the same time, my wisdom teeth were coming in and got 'impacted'. They were trying to go up and were tilted a bit. Plus my jaw just didn't have the room. So my jaw bone was under a lot of pressure and was starting to develop tiny fractures. They had to cut my gums open and remove those wisdom teeth too. I woke up, but I couldn't see, I don't think I opened my eyes. I felt tremendous pressure in the back right of my jaw but no pain and I heard the doctors talking, but even at the time, I didn't remember about what. Just that there were about two men and one woman. Then I went back under, thank Buddha.

I've had multiple cardiac ablations to attempt to correct a heart arrhythmia, and distinctly remember coming to momentarily during one of them. It was the briefest flash of awareness, but as I was conscious in the operating room beforehand, I recognized the setting before quickly being put back under.
During a different one, I woke before they finished removing the arterial sheathes through which they fed the wires to perform the ablation. That one was notably less pleasant, as the feeling of those sheathes being removed felt like someone withdrawing a long blade from deep in my stomach out through my groin.

I woke up during my hernia surgery. I was awake enough to focus my eyes and ask the doctor if he was almost done yet. His eyes widened and he nodded to the anesthesiologist behind me and I quickly went back under.
I just remember feeling pressure and tugging, no pain. I had warned them before surgery that it usually took higher doses for me to achieve the same effect as other people.
I learned this during my first hernia surgery 15 years prior.
Also when they were first putting me under they told me to count to 20. I think I made it past 50 before I went under.
I had a conversation about it with the doctor after that so it definitely was not my imagination.
He told me that was the first time that had happened admitted he should have taken me more seriously and would notate it so if I needed surgery in the future it wouldn't happen again.

I was terrified of going under for anything, and 2017 I needed my wisdom teeth out, and you can imagine I was terrified when I was going under for it, especially since they weren't allowed to use too much anesthetic for legal stuff as a non-hospital.
And guess what.... I woke up when my Wisdom teeth were being taken out! Scared the poor intern who was shadowing the dental surgeon so bad!!! Luckily it was only an achy semi-sharp pressure before I was out again.

She explained that she woke up and couldn’t move in any way not even with her eyes. She said it was more painful then giving birth. Now every operation she has to have a metal disc on her head to determine if she wakes up.

This actually happened with my mom before when I was born. I was an emergency C section and, it was an emergency, so a lot was going on. She told me she was traumatized for life after that. Apparently, the numbing or anesthesia/pain killers she was given did NOT help very much. She felt very hazy and dizzy and was not able to speak, but she was able to feel everything the whole time. It took the doctors what felt like hours to her (but was probably maybe 10 minutes) to realize that she was fully aware of everything and had to put her under. Can you imagine being cut into and having a child literally taken out of you while being completely aware? In the video, they mention that anesthesia usually isn't used for childbirth but she was in so much pain that they didn't have a choice. My doctors and therapist think that messed me up too. xD I also have a problem with numbing and anesthetics working on me very well. It takes a lot of it and a lot of time to put me under and make me fully numb. When I got my wisdom teeth out, the numbing did NOT work on one side and I felt all of that. It was extremely painful and I probably shed a tear or two. Numbing isn't the same as anesthesia I know but honestly, they are both very scary things when you could possibly be conscious at any time.

All I remember is them putting a mask on me, I fell asleep, then I woke up. Everything was blurry. I wanted to rub my eyes to make the blurryness go away, so I did. I remember someone saying, "Don't rub your eyes." Then I just went back to sleep. A little later, I woke up again. Everything was blurry again. I wanted to rub my eyes, but my hands and arms were under a blanket, and I remembered that they said not to rub my eyes.

You are getting general anesthesia for wisdom teeth? Sounds hilarious to me and totally unnecessary. I go time cut into pieces still in my gum and then pulled out with just local an. But maybe that's policy is estern europe

@@kattodoggo3868 Well, here it also depends on both how complicated the surgery is going to be and if the patient will be compliant. I had mine removed with just locals but my goddaughter had to go to an oral surgeon due to the complications with hers and was put into a twilight sleep due to the length of the procedure and worries over pain.
Also, depending on if there's an infection, locals may not work and if the infection isn't treatable before removal, more sedation may be used to block out the pain.
Plus, you had yours done in Eastern Europe, so there's also that...

I was undergoing in-vitro infertility treatments and was supposed to be fully sedated when my 11 eggs were harvested. The pain woke me up midway through the procedure and I began to move in an effort to escape the pain. I was not fully conscious but I remember my doctor yelling ".don't move!" Someone turned up the juice and I began to drift, but not before a tear leaked from each eye and I remember the nurse wiping them away. It was a horrific experience, and no, I did not dream it.
