I had a Ragdoll from 1971-1991. He was an indoor outdoor neutered male who came and went as he pleased. He would usually go out in the morning and be waiting for me after school to let him in. He'd come in and eat, hang out and then go back out until around bedtime and sleep in my bed. He ate cheap cat food like meow mix (they didn't have top quality dog and cat food back then). He only went to a vet a few times and was healthy for all his years except for once when I lapsed on his flea and tick medicine and he got a flea infestation. They are not the delicate porcelain doll they are made out to be. He lived 20 years and I still miss him. Currently I have two Ragdolls. They are brother and sister litter mates. They eat stupidly expensive food and are indoor only cats (because I live in an area with tons of coyote that probably live on people's small dogs and cats. If I lived in an area with little traffic and predators, I'd let them out). Lastly, another danger is people who will try to steal your cat. Some by people who know it's monetary value and some by crazy cat ladies who think any cat outside is a stray or simply want it.
@cro-magnoncarol4017 I used to keep a collar on mine that was an indoor outdoor cat, yet somehow, he always came back without the collar. Some people will simply try to steal your cat. Mine wasn't ever successfully stolen because after a couple of days, he would start yeowling or caterwalling until you just can't take it anymore! How do I know? Because crazy cat ladies would confess this to me when or for a walk, and they would see me and my cat in my driveway. They would tell me that they thought he was a stray and would take him into their house until they couldn't take it any longer. How does one think a cat is a stray if it is well fed, free of fleas, well groomed or brushed? Also, the only time that it ever would lose his collar was when he was missing for a week or two and I would find out from some random woman that she had him and claimed she thought he was a stray? Please. I honestly wouldn't care if someone took him in for a night or two, but to try to keep someone else's cat is LOW.
anybody complaining about such a beautiful cat shouldn't have a cat at all, this is one of the most beautiful cats on the planet, and I don't recommend any cat go outdoors either
I had my Raggy 14 years. I've had free to good home kitties my whole life but had never raised a pure breed. I read that purebreeds are not as healthy as mixed breeds. No one has talked about problems with their cats teeth. My Mittens got sick at 2 years with an infection (she was indoors only), and one of her eye teeth broke in half. She was fine for the next 8 years but then the health problems really started. I've heard that animals mimmick their owners, but I had issues with my teeth, but none broke, then she actually passed from liver disease, which I was diagnosed with in 2023. I miss her so much that she is in many of my dreams! She was the very best fur baby over and above any cat that I grew up with!
I have 1 Ragdoll, love him soooo much. He follows me all around the house. He is a real lap cat, he sleepsysteem with me in bed. He is funny and very playfull. He is Blue Mink Bicolor and is Gorgeous.
I have 4 cats, 2 of them are Ragdolls. I had a Ragdoll cat before these, which was given to me at age 6 yrs. I can't imagine why she was given up. All I know is that I will always have a Ragdoll.
Before I got my ragdoll, Dinah, she was in an abusive home so was very skittish and wary when we got her. Took 2 years but she is a very loving cat minus some spicy attitudes at times. Glad to see her happy again and not stressed out. :)
My ragdoll cat Rocky was the best cat I ever had. He passed away August 30th and was 11 years and 4 months old. When I had Rocky I was never lonely. He never was a lap cat but he either slept with me or at the least on the floor near me and he liked to follow me around. I still miss him
Supposedly not all Ragdolls have bleu eyes but I just adopted 2 Ragdoll British shorthair half breeds and I am in heaven with my baby girls; perfect mix of both breeds but mostly ragdoll in personality so far.
@@fionnmaccumhaill3257 You are wrong, I have a purebreed, both parents are TICA registered and he has gold green and blue tinged eyes. FYI, my previous cat was Ragdoll mix with blue eyes but, short coat. Non-blue eyes Rags are more rare and more sought after than Blue.
Just got 2 ragdoll kitties, Zumi a bicolour lilac blaze male and Kiri a choc pointed mitted...different litters, 2 days apart and they are adorable...different personalities and love them to pieces. They spend time with me in my office which is also their play room and yes...I am completely distracted and smitten by the kittens.
This video shows exactly what my rag doll is and his personality... I waited for several years to get my ragdoll even though my family breeds them I wanted the perfect one! Just let everybody know also be patient they're kittens / toddlers for a long time but that's what makes them fun I love watching my ragdoll Romeo run around the house!
My ragdoll came into my life the same way..i was having coffee on my patio one morning, heard some rustling in the bushes and this. Beautiful cat jumped on the railing of my patio and she stared at me for a few minutes..she jumped down to where I was sitting, rubbed herself against my leg and sat down next to my chair. My neighbor who lives above me has several cats..I asked her if she was missing a cat and she said no. I described the cat and she said she had seen it around for a while, had even petted it and indicated the cat is friendly. I adore th8s cat, she is affectionate, I've only had to scold her twice but overall she is really mellow. I'm taking to the vet to be looked at and checked for a microchip, and have her vaccinated. She stays indoor mostly and only goes out when I do. After her exam/vaccinations I'll schedule for her getting spayed. When I rubbed her tummy I was thinking I would find evidence of a surgical scar but didn't find one. She's so beautiful❤
I have a blue ragdoll cat that I adopted, his name is Tator Tot. In February 2023 my fiance caught him in a live-trap in the machine shop where he works and released him in our barn because we needed a barn cat. I had no idea what kind of cat it was, it was just some random cat that was probably long haired and brown, he was a greasy mess with blue eyes. I fed him every day, leaving the food inside the barn and didn't see him again for months. Eventually I saw him every once in a while outside the barn, didn't think it was the same cat because he was clean and gorgeous. In August we went on vacation and my mom had to leave his food on the porch, he ate there since. I touched him for the first time in September, things progressed quickly after that. He started sleeping on the porch in October so I made him a bed and by the beginning of October I was picking him up. October 23rd he went to get vaccinated and neutered, but not before he picked a fight with someones cat who stopped to visit our porch the night before. He's a big, sweet, fluffy baby and we hope all goes well, we all ready have three cats and they're not a fan in the least, hopefully they warm up to him, he's all ready sleeping on the sofa and jumping on laps.
Thank you so much for sharing your heartwarming story about Tator Tot. It's great to see how he's found a loving home with you and is now sleeping on the sofa and jumping on laps!
We were the lucky owners of three Ragdoll cats. A week ago we lost our oldest , Lyla , a mitted seal to polycystic liver disease. The vets could do nothing . She died in my arms. She was only six years old and we cried for days. She was a beautiful loving cat. Our two remaining Ragdolls are a source of endless joy. If you have the chance to adopt a Ragdoll cat take it with both arms. Your life will be enriched for the experience.
I had two Ragdolls, they are the best cats ,I got mine free, no vet bills ,just keep them brushed my Dusty and Dale lived for 19 years very mellow, but I would walk them without a leash they sat, and stayed, when told too,and lay down very smart and they rode in the car, without a carrier when I moved a 8 hr drive excellent cats ❤
My Ragdoll cats are therapeutic for my foster children. They give love, comfort, and connection to each child. I directly supervise and know each child well, so the cats and the children are safe. Each child has a slightly different relationship with the cats, this is due to the child’s history, level and type of trauma, and capacity for reciprocal nurturing.
I had a ragdoll for just short of 16 years. I found out the hard way that they are susceptible to urinary problems as they get older. I’d highly recommend getting an annual or biannual ultrasound of the bladder and urinary tract once a ragdoll reaches 10 years in age. If your ragdoll has already had UTI’s then I’d make the ultrasound a priority. That and keep their bottom end fur trimmed to avoid matting and to keep the area clean.
I have a ragamuffin and recently had to put to sleep my Siamese. Those are my two favorite breeds so far! Although a good domestic short hair or long hair or medium hit is always a winner in my book!
I adopted a mature 9 year old ragdoll cat. His family moved overseas. He adjusted very well in the 2 years living with me. He is gentle and it was love at first sight. It is very hot in Durban , KNZ South Africa. He enjoys sleeping in the airconditioned bedroom. He loves going outdoors and comes when he's called. He's a pleasure to have in the family.❤
I have just yesterday got my second ragdoll to run alongside mine they are both very nearly two at the moment I am just letting them do their own thing about getting on. Sasha my first cat is not happy but pippin just wants to get on and explore. Ragdolls are quite needy as I keep mine in but they need to be entertained I.e. played with groomed etc. I do this at least /4 times daily if you don’t do this apart from a matted coat you get a board cat. I am retired so have time to do this. Any advice on how to settle with out world war three on my hands!!
My favorite breed of cat is Ragdoll Because I had one and he died two years ago and I did another one because I loved him . No other cat will do for me
I have a flame ragdoll called Wilson we have had him for four months he is six years old he is not a lap cat and he likes to bite me but I would never give him up ❤
I have 2 Ragdolls. A red/flame point who’s 15 and a blue point who’s 13. They are the best casts I have ever had. They learn quickly and they always want to be with me. But one thing you didn’t mention is if you have a ragdoll cat you will have hair everywhere. Oh and they have the cutest paws ever!
I can’t imagine spending money buying a cat. Typical ways sensible people acquire cats are: they show up at the door; adoption from a shelter; news paper ads offering free cats and kittens.
Hi everyone I had hopefully Ragdoll, my Cat Nichole she was same as pictures according to this video she did basically same things color was light brushed white on black brush, light streaked like tabby black face, light blue eyes large black fluffy tail like pictures but then she was having breathing troubles after i had her 4 years, so took her to vet and she had liquid on her lungs area and bit by heart was gasping for oxygen seems vet couldn't fix this problem they wanted 2800.00 fix her, So I lost her at vet so I'm looking for another Ragdoll and finding insurance for the new cat

My original cat was given to me by my mother. My mother received it from her first cousin. Her cousin got two directly from Ann Baker.

Every cat needs equipment... But ragdoll needs extra
Absolutely! Ragdolls are such unique and special cats, they definitely deserve a little extra pampering and equipment.
I can’t imagine spending money buying a cat. Typical ways sensible people acquire cats are: they show up at the door; adoption from a shelter; news paper ads offering free cats and kittens.
I completely agree! There are so many beautiful cats out there just waiting for a loving home. Adoption is always a great option.

my cat father is pure ragdoll and my cat mother is pure persian cat what is my cat breed? how can i know?
Your cat is likely a mix of Ragdoll and Persian breeds. You can look for physical traits that resemble each breed to confirm.
I want a rag doll badly . I have Russian blue his not very loving . Dreaming of a rag doll !!
I have 2 munchkin ragdolls, both want attention and follow me everywhere
My ragdoll kitten doesn't like to be picked up
