I also did wander why he's so quiet then I thought he doesn't have to ask for anything being free fed except when he stands up asking me to pick him up and carry him he also is more like a dog and joins me in the shower not that I get a say in it as he can open doors and we don't have a lock on it
I had a Ragdoll named Milo for 19 beautiful years. He was the sweetest guy with the tiniest meow for being such a big kitty. I will miss him forever 💙💙💙

Best cats ever. Those blue eyes and silky fur. My boy is a Flame Point Ragdoll. He has the type of fur that never mats up! I still brush him though. He finally got his full growth and color about 5 yrs old. He’s a big boy with a teeny tiny meow. He flops down in front of me no matter where I walk. Then rolls and stretches and you just have to give a little love before you move past him. He doesn’t like picked up but is floppy when I do. He follows me everywhere but then so does my rescue kitty. Lol. He’s made an awesome big brother to my rescue kitty. Grooms him and seems to teach him. He sleeps with me and has to hold on to my arm and pretty much have his head on the middle pillow. Not spoiled at all! Lol.
I adopted a Ragdoll from a rescue that saves abandoned cats in Egypt and brings them over to Canada for adoption. At the time I had no idea that our cat who is now named Larry, was a Ragdoll. He had been shaved down (was likely severely matted when found on the street) and he looked more like a beige shorthaired cat in his pictures. Over the first few months that we had him I had to work quite a bit to alleviate a yeast infection and ringworm on his upper head and of course try to socialize him more (living on the streets of Egypt had made him a pretty tough guy). Larry’s fur kept growing and growing, the areas around his scalp that had ringworm and yeast cleared up and his fur is so so thick up there now! Before I knew it, I had a cat that looked like a very common beige shorthaired cat to what is now clearly a Cream Point Ragdoll! He’s gorgeous! I’ve never seen eyes so crystal blue and such luxurious fur! One of my girl friends always jokes that Larry was a bottle of champagne disguised as a can of sprite! We had no idea what a rare and beautiful cat he would transform into under the right environmental conditions and love. His socialization has come so far in less than a year, he’s honestly one of the smartest cats I have ever known. He picked up English in no time, seems to understand full sentences, which blows my mind and is finally trusting me to comb and brush his entire body. It’s been a joy to see Larry transform from a tough beaten up street cat to the loved, cuddled and spoiled pet that his breeding had originally meant for him.

My Norwegian Forest cat is faithful and always wants to be around me I get up and go somewhere and he's asleep he always cries looking for me and yes he sleeps with us he has to put his head on a pillow just like we do

I have a male Ragdoll-Siamese mix named Angel. He's one of the sweetest cats I've ever owned. I can see why so many people love Ragdolls as well as Ragdoll crossbreeds.
My Ragdoll is now 19 & sees a vet regularly but has mild dementia & have to leave a light on in living room at night. He also meows loud at nights now needing to know where I am. I live in a 1 bedroom small apt. One floor. But his howling sometimes is unnerving!!!

Loved the video, I learned something new here, thank you! :) Sharing something that wasn't mentioned, that I learned at the vet about my ragdoll: they shed all the time. So that roomba in the video might be a very very good quality of life update for upcoming owners. But they're worth the vacuuming a thousand times over. The pandemic isolation went by so much easier for us with her wanting to play fetch, her curious nature and her quiet purrs. She still runs to the door and flops, rolling over for belly rubs every time I come home and religiously flops on my legs every time I lay down. I used to be afraid of cats due to childhood trauma but she and her brother (Norwegian Forest Cat mix) won me over without any problem. It's very true that they like to play and try to sneak into every corner they can fit, but they're incredibly well behaved, no shoving things off shelves or destroying furniture. Would highly recommend the breed, and since they're late bloomers, consider checking shelters for them too, purebreed or otherwise.
When I'm close up to my raggie, I think he has blue eyes, but far away they look green. I've also shown photos to people online and people have mixed opinions too. Some even say yellow. Everything about him is ragdoll. Fetches, lays on his back, goes limp, loves water, super fluff. Mitted pointed with a blaze, but his eyes throw people off. lol

Though I'd heard of them, I didn't really know much about them until a weekly email from, I think, Animal Planet, had a feature on them. The feature that stood out was that they can be trained to stay off the kitchen counters, which appealed to my husband (not a cat lover.)
Also, a breed is a specific group of animals within a species that are consistent enough to have a distinctive appearance. So overall we have "cats." But more specifically, we have certain types of cats like the Ragdoll, Maine Coon, Siamese, etc. 😺
My crème colored 6 year old boy Ragdoll Aslan is the absolute best cat I’ve owned PERIOD. He is so sweet, they are so smart so don’t be surprised if they try to outsmart you with their shenanigans if you own one, then you know what I’m talking about lol.
My then 11 year old did the research when she was getting a cat and I was today years old (Jan ‘23) to learn Ragdolls were #1! Yes, I love my baby boy, a Ragdoll, so much. He went to college with her, his human sister, who was actually his owner. I miss him so much.
I have a ragdoll mix and she's bigger than any cat Ive owned, flops when picked up very quiet, her meow is so quiet and cute, she's 5 so she's fully filled out, I've known her since she was little, so your right on the growth spurt.
Spoiler alert rag dolls are very much not quiet. My rag doll is now 6 months and he is so so talkative. He meows when he’s hungry, when he’s bored, when he’s playing, when he wants to go outside, and when he just wants attention.
We had a big, beautiful Ragdoll show up on our porch a couple weeks ago. Took him to the vet and he’s not chipped and I have posted paper signs in our area businesses and made posts all over local FB groups but I still can’t find his owner. At this point, I’m okay with that bc I’ve fallen completely in love with him but I definitely didn’t need another cat! Lol. I honestly just can’t imagine that there’s not some heartbroken family/man/woman out there searching for him. He has to be someone’s lap cat! He’s perfectly healthy, loving and cuddly as can be and already knew how to use the litter box so I’m quite sure he was an indoor cat! Such a mystery! Guess he’s just meant to be mine!
I waited almost 2 years untill i finally got my purebreed ragdoll babyboy Teddy , back in august of 2022 . He's currently 8 months old . He is one of the most intelligent cats i've seen so far : 1 . He always comes when i call his name , 2 . He knows how to open and close doors by himself , and a long etc . I've never seen a cat act so dog like , especially since im not really a dog person . I was interested in Ragdoll history, as I had a litter of them few years ago. My Sophia now, started out cream colored & has gotten darker & darker, esp her tail & tips. This breed is also known to get into mischief, if left alone. But, anytime is a great time, to get 3am zoomies, right?
My Ragdoll fits all the descriptions in the video, but he doesn’t like water or getting wet. He is fascinated, though, with the running tap water. Very Loving, follows me around all the time, very social. He is beautiful and such a lover boy. He is almost 1 year old and is larger than my 2 year old Scottish Fold (2 different cats in every way.) Mine is a Mitted Ragdoll. Best cat really.
I have a cat that has Ragdoll in her, but her eyes are gold. She goes limp everytime I pick her up and she follows me every where! Her name is WildChild and I love her!!
We have 2 ragdolls. A chocolate point and a lynx. Personally wise, the chocolate point is more laid back but more vocal. The lynx is more wild but acts more dog like. They were both found as strays and love people.
I lucked into a ragdoll after 25+ years of having dogs. You really couldn't ask for a better little buddy to initiate a dog person into the mysterious and ancient rites of cats. Be warned though, the bellyrub love does not translate to different cat breeds!
I have 8 month old male he's already 11 pounds and he is very vocal especially in morning. He's hungry,. But he will talk to us. I love him. He loves my husband who is 85. They keep each other company when I I'm at work. He is loving and funny very gentle but can get crazy at times he will run around the house like a mad man. Loves his toys.. helps with the chores. He's the best
I honestly never knew that's why they are called Ragdoll cats, why do they tend to go limp when picked up? Also didn't know they had color changing fur due to temperature like Siamese, and that it can't turn back to white in warmer weather. Thank you for making these, I love learning about different breeds of cats! I would love to see a "history" of where cats started out if that's possible? I think I remember in one of your videos that these breeds are mostly human bred? 🤔😍👍😃🐾🐾😸
Great question! It's's an instinctive response from kittenhood (going limp when momma cat would pick them up). 😻 Another reason is due to their laid-back natures. The cat that Ragdolls descended from was exceptionally docile. Then that trait stuck from selective breeding. 😺 Yes, that's a great idea. We definitely want to cover the history of cats at some point. There's a lot to talk about! 🐈

Hi, I’m looking at getting one but at the catery today and I got covered with hair. I was told that some shed very little. Can someone share with me if theirs shed lots or not?
They shed! I was also told they don’t shed. My boy is so floofy and soft but he is blessed with the type of long fur that doesn’t get matted! He feels like satin with a softer than Cotten undercoat. My sister has a Ragdoll too and hers also sheds. Best cats ever though.
My dream furbaby combo has been a golden retriever and a ragdoll. I feel like the Goldens are the Ragdolls of the dogs.. But it is not easy to come by ragdoll rescues in my neck of the woods.
I have a kitten ragdoll and he is fascinated with watching me bath. He very aggressive with me and other cats. I have had a 2 siamese cats for16years one passed away Aug 12 2022 and he was very verbal my family loved him and my cats 🐈 loved him and her too! We have a Liliac lynx mitted Ragdoll (16yrs), and a split faced, seal point mitted Ragdoll (14yrs). One is sweet, one is sour.🤔 both girls are strictly indoors, going outside only if in their carriers.
I thought I knew almost all there was to know about Ragdolls having two of my own. But I did not know about the sensitivity to heat and the color of their markings!
I adopted a ragdoll when his owners died. Never had a cat before so I don't know if the care and grooming is more than others but he's pretty relaxed so it's not too bad. He has some grit too. He was curled up behind the door when I came home and I didn't even know I was standing on his tail with boots. I thought something was leaking because I heard a quiet hiss and I realized it was the cat hissing, not loud but like it didn't hurt and he just wanted to get up.
My doll is very vocal and responds to her name but that's because I taught her young and it stuck ,she talks and lets you know what she wants such as going outside ,hunger , trapped and bordem she's only 1 btw
Fun video! But I guess our 2 aren't so average according to this. We have a male Blue Point and a female Seal Point. Both purebred. Quiet? Not ours! They yak all the time. 10-15 pounds? Nope. Our female is 9 pounds and our male is 11. Wish they were bigger though. As for going limp in our arms, neither enjoys being picked up and neither goes limp. While our male is quite dog-like (even likes to play hairband fetch), our female is not. I'd have to say, she seems to have not gotten the Ragdoll memo yet. They're both 4, so maybe they just haven't grown into who they are yet :-)
I have a 1 year old Ragdoll with all these traits and he is just adorable. I raised him alone but he likes to bite people's hands even though i have never let him play with my hands. Any ideas how to stop this? I have tried a few things but nothing is working. Hopefully he will grow out of this once older.
I put a pillow between my cat and I when he was biting me. This stopped his behaviour and didn’t ruin the relationship. I got a second cat and he wrestles her now
My cat is part siamese and part rag doll and he is obsessed with the bathroom, I haven’t used the rest room alone since we got him and he cries at the door when I shower, he isn’t super quiet but thats probably his siamese part. He is already fluffy and about 6 pounds but he is only 6 and a half months old. Already he looks very long, I think he is going to be pretty big.
My budster Casey is part ragdoll. His sister zoey is not. He's floppy and large. His sister is tiny compared to him. He certainly isn't quiet. He can be a vocal pain in the bum. He is a cuddle big too. He also loves my prized possession teddy bear. She was my moms bear and mom died when i was a tween/early teen. He loves my bear and steals her at least once a day.

I have a beautiful gray and white 11 year old 22lbs rag doll I rescued when he was 4. While I agree with most of traits mine does have green eyes.

I have a long-haired Ginger that, other than his coloring, is exactly like a Ragdoll. I'd bet he has the Ragdoll somewhere in his heritage.
My Ragdoll fits all the descriptions in the video, but he doesn’t like water or getting wet. He is fascinated, though, with the running tap water. Very Loving, follows me around all the time, very social. He is beautiful and such a lover boy. He is almost 1 year old and is larger than my 2 year old Scottish Fold (2 different cats in every way.) Mine is a Mitted Ragdoll. Best cat really.
My Ragdoll is definitely Super quiet (at least do far). And I like it. Barely meows and when he does its like the lowest pitch meow.

I have a cat that has Ragdoll in her, but her eyes are gold. She goes limp everytime I pick her up and she follows me every where! Her name is WildChild and I love her!!
We have 2 ragdolls. A chocolate point and a lynx.
Personally wise, the chocolate point is more laid back but more vocal. The lynx is more wild but acts more dog like.
They were both found as strays and love people.
I lucked into a ragdoll after 25+ years of having dogs. You really couldn't ask for a better little buddy to initiate a dog person into the mysterious and ancient rites of cats. Be warned though, the bellyrub love does not translate to different cat breeds!

I honestly never knew that's why they are called Ragdoll cats, why do they tend to go limp when picked up? Also didn't know they had color changing fur due to temperature like Siamese, and that it can't turn back to white in warmer weather.
Thank you for making these, I love learning about different breeds of cats! I would love to see a "history" of where cats started out if that's possible? I think I remember in one of your videos that these breeds are mostly human bred? 🤔😍👍😃🐾🐾😸
Great question! It's's an instinctive response from kittenhood (going limp when momma cat would pick them up). 😻 Another reason is due to their laid-back natures. The cat that Ragdolls descended from was exceptionally docile. Then that trait stuck from selective breeding. 😺
Yes, that's a great idea. We definitely want to cover the history of cats at some point. There's a lot to talk about! 🐈

Hi, I’m looking at getting one but at the catery today and I got covered with hair. I was told that some shed very little. Can someone share with me if theirs shed lots or not?
They shed! I was also told they don’t shed. My boy is so floofy and soft but he is blessed with the type of long fur that doesn’t get matted! He feels like satin with a softer than Cotten undercoat. My sister has a Ragdoll too and hers also sheds. Best cats ever though.

My dream furbaby combo has been a golden retriever and a ragdoll. I feel like the Goldens are the Ragdolls of the dogs..
But it is not easy to come by ragdoll rescues in my neck of the woods.

I have a kitten ragdoll and he is fascinated with watching me bath. He very aggressive with me and other cats. I have had a 2 siamese cats for16years one passed away Aug 12 2022 and he was very verbal my family loved him and my cats 🐈 loved him and her too! Made a great impact on my family touched our hearts 💕 I got this kitten hoping he is a bundle full of joy 😊
Now I know why sister sue watches the stool flush....had me worried for a while...lol
My ragdoll is around 4 - 5 months old and she’s the size of a British longhair at full grown 😅

We have a Liliac lynx mitted Ragdoll (16yrs), and a split faced, seal point mitted Ragdoll (14yrs). One is sweet, one is sour.🤔 both girls are strictly indoors, going outside only if in their carriers.

I thought I knew almost all there was to know about Ragdolls having two of my own. But I did not know about the sensitivity to heat and the color of their markings!
I adopted a ragdoll when his owners died. Never had a cat before so I don't know if the care and grooming is more than others but he's pretty relaxed so it's not too bad. He has some grit too. He was curled up behind the door when I came home and I didn't even know I was standing on his tail with boots. I thought something was leaking because I heard a quiet hiss and I realized it was the cat hissing, not loud but like it didn't hurt and he just wanted to get up.
My boy likes to hang out in the bathroom when I shave and shower. 😊

My doll is very vocal and responds to her name but that's because I taught her young and it stuck ,she talks and lets you know what she wants such as going outside ,hunger , trapped and bordem she's only 1 btw

My ragdoll is sweet, but kind of a dingbat, compared to her adopted brother who is Abyssinian, and an astonishingly intelligent cat.
Fun video! But I guess our 2 aren't so average according to this. We have a male Blue Point and a female Seal Point. Both purebred. Quiet? Not ours! They yak all the time. 10-15 pounds? Nope. Our female is 9 pounds and our male is 11. Wish they were bigger though. As for going limp in our arms, neither enjoys being picked up and neither goes limp. While our male is quite dog-like (even likes to play hairband fetch), our female is not. I'd have to say, she seems to have not gotten the Ragdoll memo yet. They're both 4, so maybe they just haven't grown into who they are yet :-)
The vocal part is because they are siamese mixes and not full ragdoll. Out lilac point siamese and rag doll mix is a crier but thats a siamese trait.
I have a 1 year old Ragdoll with all these traits and he is just adorable. I raised him alone but he likes to bite people's hands even though i have never let him play with my hands. Any ideas how to stop this? I have tried a few things but nothing is working. Hopefully he will grow out of this once older.
I put a pillow between my cat and I when he was biting me. This stopped his behaviour and didn’t ruin the relationship. I got a second cat and he wrestles her now

My cat is part siamese and part rag doll and he is obsessed with the bathroom, I haven’t used the rest room alone since we got him and he cries at the door when I shower, he isn’t super quiet but thats probably his siamese part. He is already fluffy and about 6 pounds but he is only 6 and a half months old. Already he looks very long, I think he is going to be pretty big.

My budster Casey is part ragdoll. His sister zoey is not. He's floppy and large. His sister is tiny compared to him. He certainly isn't quiet. He can be a vocal pain in the bum. He is a cuddle big too.
He also loves my prized possession teddy bear. She was my moms bear and mom died when i was a tween/early teen. He loves my bear and steals her at least once a day.
I have a 16 year old and a 14 year old Rag Doll boys. And they are going strong.
Also my rag doll is terrified of water.
