Bonnet over durags. I always have an issue with durags coming off at night, and having a line frome the tie on the back of the neck or forehead isn't really for me. I found that using a bonnet for starter locs kept everything in place and breathable, and didn't slip off.

Let's leave this beliefs and social pressure behind and let's just enjoy being great people with each other and surpass those things as showing emotion and bonds with other men and even women!
I like mine compressed me myself but I don’t mash them down for compression they naturally compress when I apply product and comb them my curls tighten naturally
At work I have to wear a helmet. Is it bad for afro curls to wear a durag instead of a bonnet at work ? Cuz the bonnet will slide down because of the helmet. So I only use the bonnet at night when I go to sleep.
If you're the type of person that will wake up without your bonnet, scarf, or durag on top of your head I recommend getting silk pillowcases. It might not save your hairstyle but it will at least stop breakage. Edit: It looks like you already spoke on it. 👌🏽
where should i buy a bonnet, does it matter if i just head to cvs or do i need one from my local ebony hair store? Ive never really tried to take care of my hair but i want to start
For curly compression in my opinion is No because your hair is supposed to have volume and With the durag your hair will stay Flat so the curls wont pop put.
Instead of using a bonnet i use King's Crown Satin nightcap! Its great with an adjustable strap and less feminine look but my twists are still short so it may not fit those with like a full head of thick long dreads
I have an Afro (I pick it out), and I don’t use a bonnet because my hair is so long and my bonnet is so small that it compacts my hair so much that it makes it harder to pick out in the morning. When my hair is shorter tho it does help out a lot but even then, I just sleep with a satin sheets including my pillow case. I still wake up with a flat Afro 😂 but I believe the satin sheets have helped out with less hair breakage (and I been takin care of my hair a lot more too).
I have a completely different hair texture to you (I'm a 2a, maybe 2b). I was really interested in your take on these. I wear a satin sleep cap and a silk pillowcase. I think I would struggle with a durag, as I toss and turn a very great deal during my sleep and it wouldn't stay in place. Thank you for posting - I enjoyed it very much
I’m a woman and I see nothing wrong with a dude wearing protection for his hair. 🤷🏽♀️ if you with a black girl she should understand…. (If you date other races then just have a sit down about our hair 👍🏽)I mean we gotta protect ours so why wouldn’t a black man with hair need one. I have two boys and they have long hair, I do their twist and twist outs and I need all my hard work protected 😁
I am a white girl and I know nothing about black hair care and idk how yt brought me here so I will put in my 2 cents. I wouldn't give to flips if the man I was dating wore a bonnet or w.e. to sleep. Just like u said, all somebody who isn't black would need would be their parter to explain to them what it was for. If the girl has a problem with it then she obviously isn't for u. 99.9% of other race females wouldn't care. Most likely she would just be curious as to the purpose. So ya, just be open and explain what it is for and I can guarantee there would be things that would be diff to w.e. race she is and she would need to explain to the man also. Hope this made sence, I am really stoned right now so sry if this came out odd. 😀
so i used a bonnet i got from amazon and the morning after my curls looked so incredibly bad. i got a 3b/3c fro and now i started sleeping without it again because i can fix it up in the morning when i wear a bonnet they just done and i need a beanie til my next wash day
Manly man here. I have an Afro, I’m going with the bonnet. The compression is necessary. In the winter I usually have a hood on which evens out my fro. Bonnet will work better in the summer.

When you have braids in you aren’t getting rid of dead hair cuz it’s braided . so when you take it out and wash it all that dead hair will come out and your hair will be healthy . So it’s a good thing when you have that dead hair come out .
Where is that black bonnet from? I’m looking to buy one for my boyfriend
No homo mate...just wanted to say I love your charisma and choice of words....great fan and thanks for sharing you hair wisdom with us...your videos are natural and at the same time top notch
No need to say "no homo" bro, this is 2021. There's nothing wrong with men compliment men at all! The doesn't define your sexuality or anything. Let's leave this beliefs and social pressure behind and let's just enjoy being great people with each other and surpass those things as showing emotion and bonds with other men and even women!
@@jeshuarestituyo284 alright alright
@@rhemzy he‘s right.
the self promo was perfect 😭😭❗️
I like mine compressed me myself but I don’t mash them down for compression they naturally compress when I apply product and comb them my curls tighten naturally
Can I wear a silk durag with my freeform dreads? When I wake up each morning it really compresses the twists and my hair gets matted
Do you have a standard size satin/silk pillowcase, cause pretty sure the king is too big
At work I have to wear a helmet. Is it bad for afro curls to wear a durag instead of a bonnet at work ? Cuz the bonnet will slide down because of the helmet. So I only use the bonnet at night when I go to sleep.
Where did you get the orange bonnet?
Bro when you dropping the 2 year hair growth journey vid
Best video I’ve watched for curly hair
If you're the type of person that will wake up without your bonnet, scarf, or durag on top of your head I recommend getting silk pillowcases. It might not save your hairstyle but it will at least stop breakage.
Edit: It looks like you already spoke on it. 👌🏽
Still good advice 👍🏾 my wife got me one for Christmas but I haven’t used it yet
where should i buy a bonnet, does it matter if i just head to cvs or do i need one from my local ebony hair store? Ive never really tried to take care of my hair but i want to start
Did u find out?
For curly compression in my opinion is No because your hair is supposed to have volume and With the durag your hair will stay Flat so the curls wont pop put.
Where’d you get the black bonnet from
Instead of using a bonnet i use King's Crown Satin nightcap! Its great with an adjustable strap and less feminine look but my twists are still short so it may not fit those with like a full head of thick long dreads
thank you for this video!! I'll remember this when I'm drawing my black characters sleeping/just waking up :D
My hair is healthy all because of you bro may God bless you
no doubt keep it up
I just did my big chop regrowing my hair should I use a Durag?
I usually wear a wave cap when I have my hair in twists or braids is that ok??
yes
@@KingBril bettt 💯
Classic Jerry curl bag also keeps your hair moisturize that's what I wear at night or just a regular wave durag
Where do you get your bonnets🔥
Wait so if you want to grow a curly frow and only have 1 inch of hair still just wear a bonnet instead of a durag?
I have an Afro (I pick it out), and I don’t use a bonnet because my hair is so long and my bonnet is so small that it compacts my hair so much that it makes it harder to pick out in the morning. When my hair is shorter tho it does help out a lot but even then, I just sleep with a satin sheets including my pillow case. I still wake up with a flat Afro 😂 but I believe the satin sheets have helped out with less hair breakage (and I been takin care of my hair a lot more too).
How to prevent curls being crushed when sleep if your hair is to big to wear shower cap?
Levitate 😆
where did he buy the growth serum from... i need that 😭 my hair grows extremely slow

Thank you for posting - I enjoyed it very much
@cali budz who says they don’t need protection my guy

This was funny 😆 (and informative). It’s nice to see black guys getting more into learning about hair care
I wear a bonnet but it has built in holes should I get a new one or is it fine
where did you get the bonnet you have in the thumbnail from ?
Bonnet gang. Recently got silk pillowcases to.
Started using a bonnet. This And my curls look way better And they last way longer looking good then without
do bonnets stop your hair from getting matted
@@lowk3yaj546 No if I sleep on my curls then yea
Are velvet Durags good too?
so i used a bonnet i got from amazon and the morning after my curls looked so incredibly bad. i got a 3b/3c fro and now i started sleeping without it again because i can fix it up in the morning when i wear a bonnet they just done and i need a beanie til my next wash day
Is it alright to wear a durag whilst u have two strand twists
When will you have more growth serum?
What do I need to use if I have curly dreads ?
That was one of the slickest and smoothest ad transitions I done seen. Respect
I got waves and I'm in vacation but I forgot my durag can I use spandex boxer briefs
Manly man here. I have an Afro, I’m going with the bonnet. The compression is necessary. In the winter I usually have a hood on which evens out my fro. Bonnet will work better in the summer.
Thanks for your help. This video was quite helpful
Preciate you makin this quick and easy to understand dawg. ✊🏾🙏🏾
Hey King Bril I would like to know where you bought your bonnet.
