    Love your videos! I did stuff like this when I was 17 to 30 and had a great time, and have tons of great memories traveling around Hong Kong, the Philippines, and North America. I still love to travel - but now we "Camp" in Condo's and Hotels. @Hate Committee the uhaul rental vans I got were almost brand new, very reliable. Yes you can lock the doors from the inside no problem. I just left the windows shut throughout the night, with the larger air volume it doesn’t steam up too much compared to sleeping in your car. I did open doors to let the air flow through throughout the days, mostly for the smelly mtb gear, but never needed to at nights.

    You could use a rubber hot-water bag (Thermophor) to pre-heat the sleeping bag and warm your cold feet. Preferably with a cloath coat, so the inital hot bag doesn't feel uncomfortable on your (bare) feet. If it cools during the night, it will probably wake you once, so you remove it from the then warm sleeping bag and continue sleeping. Even the water inside can be reused and reheated. Just don't buy the cheapest one, so you don't wake up to a wet sleeping bag. Especially if you have trouble warming up your cold feet you will really appreciate a rubber hot-water bag, you will be cozy in no time.
    Funny and entertaining video, you always bring a smile to my face. Loved your solution with the "tent", :)
    Best of wishes from austria.

  • @barence321
    @barence321 2 года назад +1

    Someone said put a tent inside the van. This is an excellent idea, especially if you put the Reflectex under the tent first. Then the other person who said use a -10C sleeping bag (or maybe a -20 C for Vancouver) gave the other good idea. I once had such a sleeping bag, and it kept me warm outside, in Boston Massachusetts, on Chrismas Eve. I arrived there in the evening, and the airport would not let me stay indoors, so I had to wait outside for a taxi. I sat in that sleeping bag for an hour. I was warm and comfortable. That was in 1983, when winters were still very cold.

    LOL, I knew the air mattress was a bad idea, those things are super cold. I think the cheap alternative would have been to get a bunch of cardboard boxes to line the floor, and then use more to make a smaller sleeping enclosure for yourself (or use a fridge box). Cardboard is half decent insulator. Also, second hand stores for blankets.

    A good idea may be to sleep in a vehicle in cold weather to first buy a Zero Degree Sleeping bag. 2nd, also get an air mattress for comfort. 3rd if needed also buy a tent that will fit inside the van and folds out with no pipes to hold it up. Your body heat stays in the tent and keeps you warm. 4th, of course get solar rechargeable LED lamp that also takes batteries. 5th, a container with a cover wide enough to pee in and do #2 if necessary. 6th, always have at least a few days of canned food and water in case you get stuck in the vehicle for whatever reason. 7th, buy a solar charged phone charging port station. 8th, the green bottle Chlorox Spray. That freshens any stinking situation. 8th, a large clean towel. 9th extra Sox and underwear 10th, a large backpack to put all this stuff. 11th toothpaste and tooth brush. ✔ DONE.

    People who are skilled at camping/bushcraft will tell you that an inflatable bed on a metal or stone floor will only get cold.
    It's because the air inside the inflatable cell chills down to ridiculous temperatures. Don't worry, we've all done it...Once. :-)

      So in cold temperatures a foam pad beats something like therm a rest? I've really liked my 3 inch thick narrow air mattress for 3 season tent camping.

    いつも楽しく拝見しています。
    ユカさんのたくましさ尊敬します。
    ところで寒くて閉め切った車内でキャンプストーブを焚くと一酸化炭素中毒になりそうで怖いです。
    どのような対策してますか?

      コメントありがとうございます✨ご飯炊くくらいなら私は全く気にしてませんでした。むしろ車内が暖かくなるから喜んでました🤣
