    Do you have any idea what might be the issue with a 8 blink code on an 77A80K? It wasn't working I let it sit for a while and it worked for a little bit and then stopped again.

    • @NicksTVRepair
      @NicksTVRepair  2 месяца назад

      8 blinks is typically a mainboard failure. Try a factory reset and software update if you can. If that doesn't resolve it, you would need to get your mainboard fixed and or replaced.

    Hi Nick, I have a XR-77A80CJ. If it's unplugged for a bit, I get it to boot, but then reboots a few times before it dies. Only indicator light that comes on when it's dead is a flickering red led. No patterns. Then it won't boot up. I can hear what sounds light a relay clicking on the side of the power board. Would this likely be a main board failure or power board? Thanks in advance.

      That is very strange, and I am not sure what could be going on. I have never heard of the red light blinking without a pattern.
      Can you double check and really pay attention to the red light and make sure it doesn't indeed have a pattern.
      If you can't see a pattern I would ask that you take a video of the red blinking light and film it for at least 30 seconds and send us a clip via email. Like this we can review the blinking and let you know what we see.

      @@NicksTVRepair I’m going to replace the power board this week and I’ll report back. Hoping that does the trick, if not I’ll grab a main board and try that I guess.

    Have you heard of infrared issues with this TV suddenly not responding to power on and off from remote? Trying to diagnose that now but no luck.

    • @NicksTVRepair
      @NicksTVRepair  3 месяца назад

      I have never heard of the IR going out with Sony sets. It's more likely that something else is out. Your remote could be dead. Try new batteries first.
      Is the power button on the back of the TV also not working? If so then your remote or IR is not the issue but instead, your mainboard or power supply is bad and needs replacement. If you have this specific TV and have a dead no power fault then most likely the failure is due to your mainboard. You would need to either have it replaced or send it in for repair.

      @@NicksTVRepair Hi Nick, I really appreciate the response as I'm out of ideas. The TV that I have his the same model but the smaller 55 A80J. Here's what I've done let me know what you think ...I have 2 remotes, cablebox universal that controls Sony and cablebox and the original Sony remote. Did replace batteries on both, universal remote is IR is also used for volume, power, input buttons don't respond now. Sony remote all works except for power, did do the smartphone camera while pointed to see if I see the led diode on remote on power on and I do see it. If I disable bluetooth on TV then the sony TV doesn't respond at all. The only functionality I'm down is the power button on remote which I believe is IR only. The physical power button on TV operates well. I don't have any clues pointing to a weak power supply or bad motherboard other than the IR on the Sony not responding, I can replace motherboard or I can replace the IR board as well I do see those parts on ebay. But what I'm going to try first is get a sony USB IR blaster to bypass the TV's default IR sensor and use the accessory when the item arrives.

      The A80J has an IR sensor built onto the mainboard. If you have your TV open you should be able to disconnect the IR from the TV and then use the IR built into the mainboard to see if the power button works there.
      Can you do a software update?
      Factory reset? To reset you can also disconnect the TV from power, press and hold both the power and volume down button, and keep those 2 held in while plugging power back in. Keep them pressed in until the standby light turns solid green or 15 seconds have gone by.

    How do you do this for the XR 83 2022? I have it loose but it seems to be hanging up on the right side near the top squeeze tab?

    The Sony “J” models are only like 3 years old (L is current). I can’t believe they are failing already.
