The ID 50a is supposed to be a beginners radio for DSTAR operations. It’s simple but effective with more features than what I expected to get. The ID 52 will have the most features and bells and whistles.
Sadly, Yaesu’s recent HT’s- FT1, FT 3, Ft 70, FT 5 are all junk. I have had them all and had major issues with each. Switched to Icom in 2022. Now have the ID 52, ID 50, ID 5100 and couldn’t be more happy. The quality in construction and the reception is way way way better than anything Yaesu lately.
Camera angles are the worst lol. He holds the screen out of frame over half the video hahahahaha
any idea how bad the battery life is with backlight full time on?
I would assume with the backlight on it’s not as good I have it set now to be completely off

I have an Icom ICR6 handheld Communications Receiver. Icom build quality is excellent in my opinion. Thanks for the video!
So so frustrating to see you keep going to the knob for scrolling. Just use the quad pad key to go up and down or side to side. Why use the knob?
Using the nob is my preference.
At least skim the manual. If you have other Icom products you should feel somewhat comfortable

It’s called an unboxing video. I had no intention to read it because I just got it. And Im new to Icom anyway so I’m still learning.
Wow Large screen.But No Color. I would Say A step back For Icom. YEASU Is really crushing it With New radios.
So far it’s better than my Yaesu FT-5DR I had.

I hate the color screens. Black and white looks so much better.
