I don't like any of them. D-star sounds just as robotic as the others.

I used to sit on my dads boat when it was parked at the marina in Gig Harbor back in 1988-89 drinking beer with a buddy. We would use the CB radio and have all sorts of conversations with people. This brings me back to the 80's in so many ways..

I'll always be partial to P25 just because that's what I've used day in and day out for 15+ years at work, but compared to all the others D-STAR is definitely top notch.

I never hear any traffic on this nation simplex I only hear traffic on a couple repeaters around me I hear even more traffic on GMRS

I still have the ft3dr and I hate the audio. I wonder if the ft5dr is worth the upgrade. I use my 70D mostly cause the audio is great!

Hi, and thanks for this! - i bought it to be used mainly as an Air scanner, but i find the reception quite odd??!! - i know that it doesent have 8,33khz step, but the reception is strange, to say the least! - wonder if there is any fault on the radio? - it only seems to pick up the planes, and not the "base stations" although i know they are transmitting in the Kw range, (here in Sweden anyways) SWEDEN CONTROL is very strong on a UNIDEN scanner i tested -- but i cannot hear them on this radio?!?! - strange... is there perhaps some setting that is wrong in the radio? - all help would be appreciated! 73 Levi

When I turn APRS mute on, I can no longer receive audio on VFO A, turn mute off and all is ok.

This is not a malfunction digital mode compression processor noise I have it on my radio too, it doesn't cause any problems, the radio works fine.

We have the same guys talking in it ALL day long in Indianapolis. So much for it being a “calling” frequency. It’s a rag chewing channel here. .

Dude please use phonetics.. Your callsign sounds like you're sneezing. Biggest thing Ive noticed about 2m/70cm is the lack of phonetics that makes it very difficult to understand the callsign

Can you add a channel to PM from the regular memory or do you have to add it from VFO and cancel it out of the regular memory?

Yes. Noticed it too. Also on 19 in the last week or so. Really a kicker/amp just overtaking the other to show who is more powerful. But yeah there is a constant jammer hum going when no one talking now. In the old days Russian Jammers sounded like a plane propeller engine, you could hear them on shortwave.
