  • It finally arrived!!! I'm more than excited to have this bike built for the drags at Benaraby. You will get to see how brand new Harley's come in the box delivered to the dealers. Watch along as I tear it down & build it back up to a 128ci. This build is using the A.P.E 128ci kit along with their 'Performer Heads'. I decided to run with the D&D Fat Cat 2 into 1 pipe because not only does it look & great, but it performs great with this setup! The CYCLERAMA 530 Cam takes care of this beasts heart beat.
    After the build is done, I get to work on the DYNO JET dyno, tuning it up & getting ready for the drags. I was happy with the initial dyno results (142hp 137ft/lbs) but I'm not finished yet! New air filter to go on along with a few other changes & I'll see what I can get from it.

      I can't say for sure exactly how much it would cost as I'm a Technician & not in sales, but to give you a rough idea,
      This particular model (FXLRS) retails in Australia at around $27,500rrp, then the engine kit, Upgraded 2 into 1 exhaust system, Upgraded Air Filter, tuning device & build labour costs would see a total cost of around $38,000 Australian dollars.

    I think at this point I could do 124 heads before I’d have to change out cam etc.

      This one ended up making 158hp & 154ft/lbs. Video is on my channel. 2020 Benaraby drags. This video only showed a basic run in tune. It's crazy how the M8s make heaps of power very easily compared to the twin cam.
      Yours sounds like a gret combo. I've tried a Rekluse clutch in a 124ci Fatbob. They work great however, when it comes to drag racing with one I didn't like it as trying to flick the clutch at wide open throttle to grab another gear proved hard as the centrifugal properties of the Rekluse made the lever very hard. A pingle quick shifter and Rekluse would a mint combo

If for some reason a customer has a stock H-D and is in need of a rebuild they will normally upgrade from the stock configuration to something different rather than rebuilding it back to stock.

    • @TeensierPython

      Probably a good idea. The tuner I go to will do some “accelerated” break in runs on the dyno, change the oil, and then do some runs.

    Im curious as to why you didn’t choose the Harley factory 128 kit instead of the aftermarket?

    • @MasterTechMiller
      @MasterTechMiller  4 года назад +4

      The Screamin Eagle 128ci kit uses 4.310" pistons in both the 107-128 & 114-128 kits.
      When bores become larger, ring seal is very crucial. Unfortunately Screamin Eagle have tolerances that they machine to & the products are produced on a much larger mass produced scale therefore allowing for many differences between measurements.
      Without torque plate boring & honing, the SE cylinders are easily subject to large out of round measurements.
      The Alpha Performance Engines kits are produced to a much higher standard & because they don't mass produce the kits on the scale SE do, they are able to retain a much higher level of quality control.
      The APE kits use 4.250" bore on both 124ci & 128ci kits, the Stroke between the engines is the only difference 4.375" on the 107ci & 4.500" on the 114ci.
      We have found running a a slightly smaller bore with a precision machined cylinder provides much better & more efficient ring seal properties. I can go further into detail about the piston design benefits of the APE kit VS the SE kit aswell but again, it all comes down the the scale of production and higher level of quality control impossed by APE.
      Longevity & performance is the name of the game & I feel that SE does not meet my own level of expectations to tick the boxes.
      I hope this helps answer the question?
      Let me know if I can answer anymore questions you have. Cheers!

      Master Tech Miller thank you for the technical information. I see your points and I believe them to be sound. The only concern with the aftermarket is the the voiding of the factory warranty.

    • @MasterTechMiller
      @MasterTechMiller  4 года назад

      @@roadrash76 yes absolutely that is a concern of most customers however the factory warranty is VIOD if an aftermarket tuning device is fitter. SE only offer their Street Tuner Pro to tune there big bore high performance engine kits. The Street Pro is VERY limited in it's adjustability and will not allow the tuner to change target air fuel ratios and only allows for 5% adjustment on the Volumetric Efficiency tables.
      When it comes to high performance engines, you definitely need to be able to change the target AFR & adjust the VE tables much further than the Street tuner pro offers.
      With that in mind, customers can make their own choice on which way to go.
      A well built and tuned engine will not show any signs or worrying concerns should the warranty need to be exercised.
