      I've been using the Loco S system for a while, and I think it actually has some advantages over KAT's true treadmills. For one, you're not moving inside a disc, so more natural strides are possible. (Then again, I've never tried a VR disc, so I can only guess how it might compare to the Loco S.) For another, you can wear actual running shoes. I've got a VR mat, so it's easy enough to hold a position in the room, without needing to be harnessed into a device. It's also a lot easier to store a VR mat than a VR treadmill. That said, there are advantages to the treadmill, particularly the V2. Sitting and flying aren't really possible, with the Loco S, though I can pull an office chair up, when required. And of course, there's no haptic feedback, with the Loco S. Tracking is probably more accurate, because the sensors are under the feet, instead of strapped to my ankles. Is it 10 times better than my $120 Loco S? That's the big question. 🧐

    • @VirtualChap2025
      @VirtualChap2025  Год назад +1

      Thank you, there are specific movements you can do for strafing like sliding your feet to the side. Walking backwards is nearly impossible so I just use the thumbstick. Still getting to grips though. Walking forwards feels very natural

    • @LotsOfBologna2
      @LotsOfBologna2 Год назад

      Many/most games have decoupled head and body movement. What I do in my Katwalk C1 is run forward but turn my head to the side and shoot to the side and for all intents and purposes, THIS IS STRAFING. It serves the exact same function. The only difference is that just like in real life, a 180 degree change in direction is not instantaneous. So you cannot strafe left followed by immediately strafing right.
      Moving backward, yeah just use the thumb stick.

  • @SkoolConnor
    @SkoolConnor Год назад +5

    I think that obviously with time, it'll become easier to use. Same goes with anything, like if you switch from console to PC and you've never used a keyboard and mouse. I think within a few weeks of playing contractors with this thing, and utilizing their shooting range and bots mode, it'll become easier to use the "treadmill" in public matches and other games like Onward and Pavlov.

    So I’ve been eyeing Katwalks products for a few years now and I’ve always wondered how games like saints and sinners or boneworks feel considering they have a set player walking speed. Does the Katwalk software remove the speed cap in games or are you stuck at a set speed no mater how fast you physically run?

    • @juryfilanti

      you are still locked on the game rules, something that with katwalk can do is set a different speed for you steps but the top speed in game will be always be the top speed with katwalk... but you can do a lazy run in the treadmill and run at full speed in game

    They really pushing this one hard 😎 hoping peeps bite . Not in my price range but would love check one out .
    Only issue is I play entirely too reckless to be that locked up . Have 11x11 playspace with 2 feet outside guardian for arm swing .
    Play in motion constantly . Wire a deal breaker , and custom to slim and light so I can really move .
    I would want actual treadmill with an upside down pyramid or cone with a stretchy material taught enough to never go loose even with treadmill moving in all directions .
    VR and fitness have symbiotic relationship imo . Eventually it gonna come down to “ you wanna play the hard core ??? , your body gonna have to be hard core “
    Just a section , but it MY section that ain’t no one else gonna get to play if just cannot get off butt and actually play VR lol .
    I do NOT understand the reaction to VR that does not directly call for seated play to just play seated as a default option …
    Might as well strap a TV to your face , not move and use a gamepad lol
    Seriously though , not sure how long ya played but my play space is the most important space in my house . Threw away my couch and coffee table the second day after I got quest 1.
    I waited over 30 years I’m a special case I knew HOW I was gonna play without hitting things second day two . Have not punched or hit anything in 3 years lol .
    Motion sickness CAN be overcome . I used Sareneto that seemed to cause it the most and played till almost threw up , took off headset to rest , rinse repeat till gone . Took me about two weeks and yea threw up about 3 times cause didn’t get off in time lol .
    Imo anyone can do the same , just at own pace .
    Treadmills cool , I just want one that isn’t so restricted in my movement . Need one big enough that I can actually walk/run , pivot spin , crouch , and go prone ALL physically .
    When we get that in 20 years if im still kickin I be happy as hell 😎

    Do you think you would prefer the current slidemills like the C2 Core? Or if you had the chance you would use one with proper movable parts? I am guessing these do have a couple of disadvantages which are not present on the slidemils due to how simple they are (sometimes simple is really the way to go in my opinion).
    For example the treads need a colossal engine to be able to suddenly referse the vector of movement by 180 degrees. Imagine you sprint at full speed and suddely you turn 180 to another direction in less than a second. How long will it take the engine to react? Can it catch up with you or will it catapult you out of the platform turning you into a blood stain on the wall xD? What if the software lags or your PC catches a blue screen due to the amount of adult videos from shady websites that you downloaded onto it and the treads go into a rouge machine mode moving in random direction?
    Another problem - how much energy that beast must consume to be able to revert the direction of movement in let's say 0.1 second? Would the engine that powerful not be louder than F-16? And heavy enough to make a colossal portal in your floor that would let you access the world below? (I mean your below neighbors flat_)
    I think it's not really just the matter of infinadeck not being ready for commercial sales. I think these are inherent problems that will always exist in these systems unless we find a way to greatly miniaturize the engines while increasing their power at the same time. But that's a whole other topic of how many decades does human technology need to reach such level. Not just one or 2 devices. There just isn't available tech that could do that

    • @VirtualChap2025
      @VirtualChap2025  Год назад

      I'd love to try an infindeck type device. The freedom of actually moving round in your space does not compare. But like you mentioned slidmills are super simple whereas VR treadmills are in my option way to complicated to probably ever be a consumer product. I think there might be something in between in the future but I'm not sure what that looks like... All I can say though walking forward in half life Alex with the katwalk is the closest I've came to a 1 to 1 experience in terms of movement. It's the dexterity that's the main issue which treadmills at the moment at the only accessory based solution

  • @shojo8708
    @shojo8708 Год назад +1

    VR treadmills are definitely the future for VR but not this specific one by Katwalk. They have the right idea but all they need is to keep the same outer design merged with the Infinadeck tracks as the base to walk on.

    Dang, no LEDs. . . If you look at reviews of their other treadmills in the comments that is often asked 'can you turn off the LEDs?' I'm really tempted, waiting for the shipping price to be revealed, when I tried to order one a few years ago they wanted around $600 for delivery and I just canceled my order. Maybe with a pre-order they can get the price down, like send them all to the countries they go to in bulk and then ship from a hub in every major country? I am really tempted though. . .

    • @VirtualChap2025

      @exodous02 Год назад +2

      @@VirtualChap2025 Yeah, I added it to my cart just to see and for me it is $100, which isn't bad. Wow, that sit module is $300? Am I seeing that correctly? I'll hold off until Sep. 14, see if anyone gets theirs and see a few more reviews. I think only 4 people on youtube got it early and that isn't really enough to go off of.
      EDIT: So, I think when I ordered they quoted me a low shipping cost but after I was charged THEN I got an email saying it would be more money to ship, and it was just over $600. I THINK this is what happened. So I wonder if this is what they have going this time. I know a VR treadmill is a niche product and if a normal exercise treadmill was niche shipping would be outrageous and I kinda understand there is no way around that. Maybe it is Amazon offering free shipping that has shipping costs so hard to swallow.

    Why does this HAVE to be about immersion or motion sickness? Everyone is listing getting tired as a downside. THAT IS EXACTLY WHY I BOUGHT IT!!! People often struggle with motivation, finding the time, weather, etc when it comes to exercising and here we have a perfect way to get a really good workout thats super freaking fun.
    Give me the AAA FPS games with half decent graphics (I have a top of the line headset and fairly decent PC) that are the MOST intense and tire me out THE MOST. For me currently, these are the Serious Sam VR games. I freaking love them!!!

    • @SoundsFromBeyond

    • @LotsOfBologna2
      @LotsOfBologna2 Год назад

      @@SoundsFromBeyondThere seem to be two markets for this and one is heavily represented and talked about and one is ignored.
      The gamer is heavily represented.
      But I see a market for people who aren't gamers at all, want to get in shape, don't know where to start and want any kind of increased activity to get in better habits. This was me. I look at the cost of a regular treadmill or stationary bike and compared it to the cost of a good VR setup and noticed very similar costs.
      I'm hearing a lot of people who mention they have a Katwalk say it's primarily for exercise.

    • @SoundsFromBeyond
      @SoundsFromBeyond Год назад +1

      @@LotsOfBologna2 Fair point. I can see that. I respect anyone that's interested in getting in shape. I don't even like to sit down when playing VR. It feels too "lazy" to me.
      However, motion sickness is a big deal for a large percentage of people. There are some that can't overcome it all. And that's a much larger percentage than people that care about using VR as a vehicle for fitness. These VR accessory companies (and reviewers) are going to advertise to the largest common denominator, which, at the moment, are not health-conscious users. Give it some time and we may see that mentality start to shift with accessories like this, and even VR in general.
