I really wish someone told me this before I did it. I'm from NY and I had an opportunity to work in Paris starting a year from then. I took it. I was really nervous about it because I heard people are really not nice if you don't speak French well, so I decided, let me hop over to work out of our Montreal office so I can practice French before moving to France!
So I transferred to Montreal for a year.................. I was working with 6 people on my team... 1 was from France, 4 were Quebecers, and one was Algerian. And the French class I was attending was taught by an Iranian. So by the end of the year, I had a total Frankenstein accent...
Let's just say by the time I got to Paris... I wish I had just not learned anything at all. Quebec French and weird slang with a crazy accent totally made it harder for me. I had to unlearn so many things.

When he spoke about how his wife would drop the "h" in words where there should be one and add an "h" where there shouldn't be, I was reminded of Jamaican patois. In our culture, it is very common to do the same thing in our language. So, "orange" becomes "horange" and "hungry" becomes "ungry".

I really think you should try and do a stand up show in London, between the huge amount of french people living in London and the English people who speak French and love France they’d be a decent market for that.

"Footing" is an English word, but it has nothing to do with running or jogging. It's a noun related to stability, kind of like it refers to the absence of tripping hazards.
We talk about footing as something you obtain, along with balance, to prevent falls. Are you stable? Do you have your footing? You need a sure footing so you don't slip.
It's also used in construction to refer to the lowest parts of buildings, the parts that ensure the building is placed in a stable way so it doesn't fall. Concrete footings underly walls and steel beams to give a building stability and strength.
