Back in the day when cable guys climbed the poles with metal spikes, my dad was up on a pole and lightning struck out of nowhere. He was thrown to the ground. He suffered a broken arm and it also changed his personality a bit. Lucky he survived.
The lightning was NUTS here in Kentucky yesterday... Had a couple dead trees blow over, be fixing fence this evening.😖 A few years ago had the same happen...insurance paid tho🙏
When my wife was a child she was asleep when lightning hit the chimney of her parent's house. The contractor said the energy went all the way to the bottom of the chimney, exploded and blew the bottom 3-4 coarses of bricks out across the basement floor. My wife was 'deaf' for about 3-4 days from the noise but was fine otherwise. Of all the homes in the 2-3 blocks of homes she lived in, it picked her place. Bizzare. She still is edgy whenever there's lightning. Surge protectors are everywhere in our place. We've decided to get a surge protector on the main electrical panel.. A good friend was running off a golf course away from a storm that just appeared out of nowhere, when lightning hit a tree less then 10 feet from him. The tree exploded into a million pieces and he ended up in the hospital having wood shards removed from his arms and legs. He still refers to them as 'man-size slivers'. Anyways, glad to see you and the family are all good. The other stuff can be repaired. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
Neighbour’s garage burned to the ground. Lightning hit a pole we think. Smoked the main breaker in his house. Popped a few things in my house. Was crazy
I got struck about 20 years ago it came through the outlet beside the recliner I was setting and went across the room into another outlet. Lost anything and everything that was electrical in the house. Took about three months fighting with the insurance company and a lot of running around to get it fixed. Ended up getting our whole house rewired replaced all of our TVs all of our add-ons etc. was not fun
Here in East Tennessee it got real bad too
I hope all is well...
