Sydney a good side but watching them play and blow out teams is great but when it comes to contested footy game they seem to crumble. Yea they blew out geelong due to being a very old side . But watch the first qtr when it got to a contested footy. If they get collingwood in a gf can see pies picking them apart.
Interesting observation, slightly one-eyed , I think. The maggies, by necessity , are opening the door, for a few youngsters. However, they're not a youngish side. Pies run home is ridiculous 7 out of 8 games , at the G . AFL playing the $ fiddle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't the magpies had one or two slow starts this year, but overcome the opposition, and squared off by half time. Then run away as winners. Frankly, recovery from injuries will be a huge factor, for all sides , who consolidate in the 8

@BigClout23 Collingwood have played 6 of the other 7 top 8 teams so far, and are yet to play 4 more top 8 teams in the rest of the season.

Melb v Pie - Melb had more shots on goal, whilst the Pies kicked goals from everywhere. If Melb had kicked straight they would have been right in the game and the commentators would have be talking very differently.

This annoys me no end. The result of the game literally came down to kicking straight. The Pies were good, and Melbourne wasn't great, but the Dees had their chances, and didn't take them. Same thing happens multiple times each week.
Where was each team taking their shots from?
The knock on Melb for months has been that they always seem to go for more difficult shots, rather than trying to maximise the shots from close range, directly in front.
With the exception of the first 15 minutes, Collingwood had them on toast.

Dimma bang on regarding the Saints. Stone aged footy and the game has simply passsed by Ross. Great achievement getting them to finals last year - can't knock that... but scoring 70 points a game won't get a win in September.
