Yes no point in using an after market water pump.
Do it once and use and OEM water pump and save all of the hassle.
I have changed too many water pumps 😃

Remember the only reasons your car fails
    1/ di..head engineering
2/ di..head person working on your car
    3/ insufficient maintenance

Hey mate if in a pinch, would it be best to top up with demineralized water if didnt have genuine coolant available (as opposed to mixing with penrite red coolant)

Toyota uses an OATS Organic acid technology coolant . The genuine stuff works great , why change ??
One of the few coolants that works .
Most coolants fail due to being mixed /poor flushing / insufficient changes ,,,,,,,simple really .
Coolants cannot ever be mixed being there is at least 4 basic types . Some even have dedicated gaskets and seals .
Water pumps aka GMB work been using them for 35yrs
""Silicon"" to be used at factory originally equipped areas .
Paper gasket use with non hardening gasket cement , never had a failure
