One thing I always hated was how no one helped you on anything. Fast forward 16 years later I give all of the new guys all the answers and how to's so they don't have to struggle the way I did. 3 of the guys I've trained the past couple of years have moved on to better jobs and we still keep in touch. Feels good to watch people grow
Much Respect Junior. Glad you switched to Toyota and are a Team Leader now. Great Job. Anytime you want to work on my 2020 4Runner in the future , I will come see you. Steve from Boston
I am sorry you had such a bad experience at the Cadillac dealership. I am happy you did let the bad experience negatively influence you. Keep up with the good job. You have such a good heart.
Bravo to you Junior for your hard work and the perseverance it takes to be successful. Being a mentor to young mechanic also teaches you skills in leadership. I subscribed to your channel from watching this video. I'm a DIY mechanic and look forward to saving some money after my warranty is up. Best of luck to you and thank you for starting this channel!

You did the right thing. God will bless you. There is never a need to be belittled and treated differently. We are all created equal and should be treated the same.
Bro, I like your attitude with regards to leadership skills. We all go through ups and downs with leadership/management no matter what industry you work for. Something I always remember and believe in is Karma, “What comes around goes around,” and “knowledge is power”. Good luck to you in the future. The sky is the limit for you!
My brother, many of us experience the same treatment on new job. Stay the course and when dust settles you be great. It’s good to see my brother in the struggles good luck and stay strong. Build! Build!
I too worked at Toyota, Chrysler after going to 2 year college aka Lincoln Tech. Did it for 5 years but left due to too much warranty work that didn't pay well. Then I got into trucking CDL A. I still love working on cars.

As an Aircraft Mechanic I agree with your message. You have to sometimes deal with things only for a certain time, and while you’re going through it, make sure you understand your goals and work to achieve them.
Amazing story! One critical job of a leader is to help the people you lead to perform at their best. Those guys at GM didn't understand that, and I'm glad that you left before that place shattered your dream of working with cars.
You have a great channel, I can tell you do quality work from your videos and are a great tech. As a Toyota freak myself and an automotive collision repair A Tech I appreciate watching these videos of people who take pride in what they do and are anal like myself with quality of work.
Great advice regardless of occupation. I was a “Customer Service Engineer” before the acronym “IT” was ever uttered. I had some college under my belt but a lot of practice experience thanks to a small mainframe repair company began a unaccredited school, well before the big names came on the scene. There were mentors there and all along my nearly 30 year career in IT and more recently, Cybersecurity. There were a couple jerks in management along the way but as you said, hunker down, learn more, and you can put yourself in a position to move on. I never went back to college between family and work, but my OJT and willingness to do things others would not put me in positions that got me noticed. One of my managers would remind me when I’d complain about a site or customer or whatever, “Mark, if anyone could do it, you wouldn’t be there.” That’s when I’d have to get off my soapbox. 😬
Yea, man, it's unfortunate. These are some of the things they don't prepare you for in school, the jerks you will encounter in the workplace. They'll have you reconsidering your whole career that you just started. 😂😂😂
You've got the three D, determination, dedication and devotion. What a great way to start a journey against all odds. God bless you guy. Good things come to those who wait. You've earned everything
Love it!!! Me myself started at a Toyota dealership with a shop foreman that really wanted his crew to learn!... As Benz tech, now I always give that Toyota Foreman credit for instilling good work ethic and knowledge into me
5 years to squeeze the juice out of you, then they might even find a way to let you go to bring in their friends. Man!!! I love everything you say, you were honest, one could tell. I wish you all the success in your career.
That's quite a story man. With that kind of empathy towards others and your hard work, I think you're gonna do well! Thank you for being an inspiration to others
Make a difference I love that my brother I feel your pain I have experience the same treatment hat's off to you because you are a successful person and master technician GOD bless you and your family always what city and state are you living in.
Hey my names marcus. I started as a Toyota lube technician early January. I’m maintenance certified right now. Still hourly. I want to grow my knowledge fast, but it seems like the shop doesn’t want me to grow. My experience at Toyota isn’t the worst of the worst, but I’ve seen how the environment in my shop is kind of unfair. I’ve noticed people at my level move flat rate before me and I question what can I do to get better. Also I’ve been there longer than them I try to get involved, but it’s apparently a problem if I’m not seen cleaning the shop. I don’t have a issue cleaning and I come in everyday cleaning the shop, but it shouldn’t have to be like that. Right now I’m a attending community college for an automotive technology degree to gain knowledge.
I hope all auto technicians can have the same mentality as your! After watching your video, it feels like you are narrating my own experiences on this field when I started on this career. My situation was worse because I was an illegal Mexican, but all those struggles you lived are the ones that are going to forge your character, discipline and focus on your goals. After 30 years on this career, I opened my own shop 20 years ago, and my work and service to my customers is what built my positive reputation!
You spoke that correctly to a T. I was a 35 year tech for Toyota and I too did experience the say as you when I first started. But it made me want to be a better tech than the other techs in the shop so that is what I did. We had several owners that owned our dealership. The early owners were not keen on training, but when we got one that was I was a Master Tech in no time, this was way before MDT came along. Later on I did become MDT and maintained it till the end. I was the one to come to for knowledge and always helped my fellow techs. I was great at one time up until the last owner with me being the Shop Foreman they decided that they didnt need me anymore and that they were not going to have a Shop Foreman any longer.
I’m 21 years old about to be 22 right now and have been at a GMC/Buick/Subaru Dealership as a Lube tech for a year now, started off as a retail sales person at tires plus, entry level tech for Mercedes for 7 months and then this dealer. What you said is also part of my stress with the dealer and how I view the industry. I graduated from a tech school in June of this year and I feel like I would be wasting more of my time where I could be already doing big jobs by myself. but our service manager oversees the lube team and focuses more on the main line guys. So right now I’m looking at a Honda Dealer and hoping for the best
Very interesting and thank you for sharing! Life is not always easy I believe in always being kind to others because that is the way I want to be treated.
Yo, much respect brother. This is how life should flow. I hope you stay in this as long as you want to be there and can stick with mentoring in retirement. Good lookin’ out man!
Nice stuff bro glad the industry worked out for you I’m going through a similar story my self im done with the industry by the end of the year, i rather try something else than this industry i went to trade school for 18 months n i see why the instructors got out
It’s all about putting yourself in other people’s shoes is what will help you grow. IT is no different. Worked with jerks and clowns in teams. At one company I hunkered down and learned and improved my IT skills and support. Then the jerks left, some were let go and some moved on. I was now the guy the new team looked up to. On the old team there were no documentation or runbooks on how to fix a common issue. So I created my own repository of how to documentation. Then when it was my time to move onto a better opportunity, they hated that I was leaving but I left them in good hands. Good things always happen for those who can endure the storm. There is always sunlight after a storm. I always tell the young bucks (I’m 41) to always use negative energy as motivation to improve yourself and your situation.
Bro you basically explained what i went through, from the shock of expectation v reality and the toxic environment. Been out of the industry for a couple years, maybe I'll try again in the distant future.
It's both good and bad, but if you decide to move on, municipal shops, police departments, fire departments, etc... have fleet techs. It's never flat rate. Always hourly. Usually pension, sometimes union, typically decent benefits. If you decide to go that route, having diesel tech, or emergency vehicle tech (EVT) from ASE are hugely advantageous. 8 hours work = 8 hours pay every day. There's still cherry picking jobs when you're the new guy, but always paid no matter how long it takes. Sometimes stability is worth it when you're trying to put bread on the table. I'm sure you're aware of this, but just in case you aren't, something to consider. That's a really interesting and unfortunate story. That GM shop did you dirty. Sad, but there's a lot of tech with the same story you have. Glad you landed on your feet. But man you took a gut shot on that. Says a lot about a brand when the dealership model is like that. I see why so many sharp guys leave, or go to independents.
I've thought about working for the city or a fleet company. The city jobs and their benefits are lovely, but at the same time, i will be taking a pay cut. The hours i turn being flat rate, plus the commission i get from my team and helping the shop with diagnostic, helps me to do well. But it took me becoming a master diagnostic technician, where I'm more in control because of my experience and knowledge. If i was the same tech at Cadillac or still being screwed at a shop, the city jobs would be way more appealing for me. And that's way it's way more appealing for the majority of techs out there.
Great Video. I would add to enjoy your work. A lot people do work they don’t enjoy and are not very happy people. You have a lots of empathy and that is a great trait. Help your fellow person. I work in therapy and a lot of new grads can’t wait to work. A lot times they sign for clinic and then are overwhelmed to 20 patients. They also leave very quickly. I think in your journey people go through the ups and downs but eventually find there place.
The only thing bad about being a master toyota tech is that there wont hardly be any broken down cars to fix because its a toyota! Lol all the best man good luck to you ✌️👍
I really enjoy your channel and content and I have a technical question. I live in northern Michigan and this past June traded my 2022 Tundra for a 2024 4Runner. I love my 4Runner, but something bazaar happened at my 10000 mile check up. It’s getting cold hear so I went to use my remote start and it would not work. This remote start worked at delivery and I used a couple times after delivery but then didn’t use it until it got cold. At the 10000 I advised the service write it was not working. They gave me a loaner and had my truck a full week. I was then advised it never had remote start and I asked how that could be when it was demoed by the salesman at delivery and I used it myself. I was then told it was a “Temporary feature”, I then advised I wanted it turned back on and was advised it could not be done. I then asked what was the remedy because this is my wife’s car and she wants her remote start. 333.00 dollars plus tax later the dealership added remote start. What I don’t understand is how did it have it then it didn’t and it could not be brought back through any soft ware. In my daughters words “Seems sketchy”. Is this temporary feature thing real????
Hey, thank you. I really appreciate it. Most new cars will come with service connect/remote start subscription that expires after a few months of service. If you want to continue to use the service connect, remote start, and even the ability to lock and unlock with your cellular phone, you will need to renew the subscription.
That seems like a big downgrade. The 22 Tundra is significantly safer and a much better overall vehicle than the 4R. I would have kept the Tundra especially since you would have received a brand new engine.
A lot of racist workplaces. Every work situation always has one or two or more bigots or haters. These people will show themselves sooner than later. Good advice but it requires a good healthy attitude. Experience and good friends and mentors are important. Not easy going through this by yourself.
🕊WE'RE DIFFERENT. DOING THINGS TMH'S WAY, YOU'RE ALWAYS BE BLESSED! 👏THE MARKING OF A KING OF GREATNESS! WELL DONE! BLESSED YOU ARE KING! BUILDING RIGHTEOUS CHARACTER👑🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🥰🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗
Theres no thoughts..its the best of the best no question asked Take a vacation to africa, the carribean, central america(guatemala, honduras), australia and youll see that the 22re is what takes you to and out of the worst mountains on earth while the truck has the original 85-91 22re
Maybe the Cadillac shop guys weren’t as happy cause the products themselves suck. Like the Toyota salesguy who sold me my Corolla said “Toyota is top of the food chain when it comes to vehicles”
Hello, I have an issue with a Toyota Tacoma 2016 water flood, replaced all modules in the car , ECU, bcm, immobilizer, the issuing I’m having is I had couple locksmith comes they can’t get to program the key in the viechle. I’m wondering if I have to program those modules that I replaced. Any idea can help thank you.
What a terrible GM shop, it is likely still run the same way to this day. Props to you for not giving up and not becoming evil like your first coworkers. You can't keep a good man down!
Hey good job. I’m like you love to help people out LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOU LOVE YOUR SELF. I BELIEVE THAT JESUS SAID IT I PRACTICED IT 😊. about the ABS LIGHT ON 2010 Prius I took it to mechanic he put computer on and said brake sensor on. I’ve replaced the sensors light still on this happened when I replaced the cv axles. Car is out of alignment I heard that triggers the abs light and skid light as well but now brake pedal is bit spongy I’m a mechanic as well but I hate doing that booster or master cylinder even Though I don’t hear that noise on the one you’ve described on different video I’ve tried the troubleshooting on OBD PORT BRIDGING PIN 13 and 5. Lights go out but ones I brake I hear a clank noise on brakes trying to adjust ABS ON WHEELS AND LIGHT POPS BACK ON , any suggestions ? And thanks for your vid. Blessings

We are not respected as we use to be. We are look at as grease monkeys. I can’t stand this career but 25 years in no point in changing careers now. But in my career I take kids from schools and teach them the skills they need when coming into the field. They use my tools and get paid with no fuss at all. That’s the only thing that I liked was helping younger generations come in to this trade
Guys like you who take the time to help others who are struggling are what makes the difference in having a successful workplace. Great mindset.

This is dope and more blessings to you 🔥🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you my friend
God bless you!!!!
Good for you just found your channel
Your a good man 😊👍
Thank you 🤝🤝🤝
The only thing bad about being a master toyota tech is that there wont hardly be any broken down cars to fix because its a toyota! Lol all the best man good luck to you ✌️👍
By the time they do have issues they will be old and will be going to independent shops for repair.
Respect ❤
Currently a certified toyota tech on electric. I’m doing my first ase so I can get all my certification on toyota so I can be an expert tech
Toyotas are sooooo much better to work on than anything American or German
Yeow boss
Thank you
Thanks for watching. 🤝🤝🤝
A lot of racist workplaces. Every work situation always has one or two or more bigots or haters. These people will show themselves sooner than later. Good advice but it requires a good healthy attitude. Experience and good friends and mentors are important. Not easy going through this by yourself.
Well you just leaped to conclusions. Come to the NE of the country and you'll be surprised the biggest racists are of a darker shade.
I have a question about a Honda van
Where can we find mechanics like you? Around Nashville, TN?
Scottie Kilmer or H&H automotive
@@EvanSon123 H&H automotive has way too many bad reviews
@@paulcoonce2493 I haven’t experienced anything bad yet, but thanks for the heads up
🕊WE'RE DIFFERENT. DOING THINGS TMH'S WAY, YOU'RE ALWAYS BE BLESSED! 👏THE MARKING OF A KING OF GREATNESS! WELL DONE! BLESSED YOU ARE KING! BUILDING RIGHTEOUS CHARACTER👑🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🥰🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗
I just subscribed love your channel by the way what state a you located I own a Toyota.
Thoughts on the 22R engine for Toyota Pickups
Theres no thoughts..its the best of the best no question asked
Take a vacation to africa, the carribean, central america(guatemala, honduras), australia and youll see that the 22re is what takes you to and out of the worst mountains on earth while the truck has the original 85-91 22re
22re is the best bulletproof 2.4 (4cyl) torque engine
2jz js the best 6 cylinder of toyota
What do think about the 2024 Tacomas?
Maybe the Cadillac shop guys weren’t as happy cause the products themselves suck. Like the Toyota salesguy who sold me my Corolla said “Toyota is top of the food chain when it comes to vehicles”
Just like "carrier"is the top chain hvac product that you install it and in 10 years you go back and swap out it for new
Hey Bruh
Would love to bring my yota toys to your shop. Heard you mentioned you was in NY…is that where your shop is located?
Same issue happned to me back in 2016 at a kia dealer ended up leaving never looking back

Where are you located? I want people like you and your team to work on my toyotas
What are you driving in the video?
17 Lexus Rc350 F-Sport
What state u on?
Honestly, most shops suck. Save up and open your own place. You'll be a millionaire by age forty. No looking back.😊😊😊😊😊
Where are you originally from?
Haiti, I have been here since i was 6 years old.
Cool..I'm from guyana and I got excited your accent might mean you were guyanese too
Where u at?
What a terrible GM shop, it is likely still run the same way to this day. Props to you for not giving up and not becoming evil like your first coworkers. You can't keep a good man down!
I'm glad I learned a lot from that shop, I learned what not to do.
💪🏿✊🏿💯facts bro
This is how jobs treat the new guy on any jobs. Especially if that group been together 20yrs
Paid practice is how I have viewed every job from the 1st day till the last day.
Blessings

You went from eating off a bone to eating Mashed potato with a lot of gravy on top
💯💯🤝🤝

Lots of master techs are that way. Very bitter and bipolar. I'm glad I went Indy early
👍
We are not respected as we use to be. We are look at as grease monkeys. I can’t stand this career but 25 years in no point in changing careers now. But in my career I take kids from schools and teach them the skills they need when coming into the field. They use my tools and get paid with no fuss at all. That’s the only thing that I liked was helping younger generations come in to this trade
