I envy you having Fall weather. Here in Alabama we just continue with summer and in a blink go to winter somehow. Also, Sherman is not a favorite name in this region, but I will continue to watch whatever you decide to name the little bugger.
Glad you fit on that little guy. I didn't even try the RK24 at our local store. I tried the RK37 and barely fit. Sat on the RK55 and it is the best for a guy who is 6'5". No way I could fold myself up into the RK24! If only RK could come up with a seat extender. All I need is for the seat to move back a few more inches......
As I watched you cutting trail, the thought came to mind: I haven't seen you do any major chipping? In my neck of the woods I chip as much as possible so that I don't build-up stacks of dry stuff that can then be a fire hazzard. Is this just a geographical difference or a personal preference? In any case, I really do enjoy each and every one of your vids so keep up the great work and thank you to ALL your crew for the hard work of putting them together.
That little RK24 seems to be a very capable machine. I have always viewed those sub compacts as a big lawn mower. I think i was wrong as they are far more than a lawn mower. Thanks for showing some of their capabilities 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hey Mike hope all is well. I see you are giving the rk24 (Sherman!) a workout going through the woods creating a path. I'm interested to know/see how much of a "pain in the neck" it would be to use the rk37 instead. I think it would be worthwhile to do even a short video on the plusses and minuses of using a slightly bigger tractor for such a chore. For us guys trying to decide if we should go subcompact rk24 open air or compact rk37 with cab knowing how maneuverable either tractor is in the woods would be helpful. If crawling through the woods (mostly shaded) and going short distances (including cutting grass) is all you are doing, I can see how Sherman would be ideal. If you are only sometimes venturing into the woods for clean up or creating a pathway, and cutting a decent amount of grass (out in the open sun), etc..., it might make sense to go with the compact with cab and hopefully make as many straightaways for your pathways as possible when you are maneuvering in the woods. Hope you have time to get back to me on this. Keep up the good work with your channel!
That Sherman is just perfect for this work. You maneuvered through the under growth with all ease. I believe a bigger tractor would've took longer. Good job Mike.
I'm really interested to see how the whole setup works. I would also like to know if something like this will work on other manufacturer's tractors (I own a John Deere 1025R sub-compact). This is a tool that would be very useful for me. Regarding your comment about safety, I had a manager always tell us something that sticks with me today. "Slow is smooth and smooth is fast". You are absolutely right in that you need to take your time in the woods. I've had a couple of "close calls" that have made me slow down and not get in a hurry. Even though they are smaller machines, they can hurt/kill someone.
Great video Mike. Melissa is getting ready, won’t be long till it’s snowing there! I think you have Sherman all decked out, except for a cab for winter. Looks like it will be the ticket for your forest and roads. Makes me wish I was younger. Thanks for sharing with us.
Hi Mike, You mention many times how much rain you have gotten over this summer. Do you think it would do you any good to run ,,possibly a 5 or 6 foot plugger/aerator on your trails in the timber to help and maybe speed up them draining to were you could cut firewood slightly quicker? Here , about 3 years ago, I bought a cheapie 40" spiker aerator pull behind/2 concrete blocks thrown on top, and it does difinately help with keeping the yard slightly softer and smoother,if I pull it every time mowing. It may make your situation worse with being more of a water trapping effect, rather than running away down slope, not sure?
Good video. I help build trails for hikers in a county park and what we try to do is avoid having any long straight sections; we always like to be jogging left and right, but our purpose is to make interesting hiking.
Yes indeed, the woods were looking fantastic. I'm a subscriber and I "like" every one of your video's. This particular video has perhaps inspired me to go trailblazer a path out through my woods, I certainly need to. FYI, the bird you heard in the background was a pileated woodpecker. Beautiful bird, quite chatty.. Thanks for your videos, keep em coming, Russ
Sherman does make it look easy pushing them fallen trees to the side and at the same time have its teeth in the ground, will you cut them logs up witch are now on the side of your trail or are they to far gone for doing anything with. good work as always mick.
Perfect environment to use and test the three RK tractors and all the attachments. It's like RK had places like yours in mind when they designed the tractors and attachments. I always enjoying watching and seeing all the different ways the attachments make so many projects around the properties so much easier to accomplish. Thanks for taking us along, Mike..."And like I always say, be safe out there". **Hand Clap** :o)
Morning, Mike. Right tool for the right job. I more than agree with taking it slow and easy. Being out solo has risks built into it. Yep...beautiful evening in the woods. Thanks.
Hey Mike, another great video of you doing things that I love to do. I never get tried of watching this kind of video. I love working in the woods building trail and processing firewood. My granddad Dulin loved being out in the “Timber” as he fondly called it. He was a major influence in my life. Thank you for everything you and Melissa do. Paul.
Mike big fan of your content & philosophy about the outdoors I really like that RK24 my only concern is service & parts after the sale. Also longevity and reliability after 200 hours.
Are there any situations or areas on your property that are too rugged or the terrain is to steep to log with a tractor? And did you ever consider getting a small skidder? Thanks.
Melissa, or maybe Mike, the editing quality of your videos is getting even better and better. We really appreciate the time and effort you spend on behalf of your RUclips viewers. Keep up the great work! Tim
Mike, this is the type of work I want to do on my property along with driveway maintenance. Thought I was set on the rk37 but now I'm liking the smaller setup. In your opinion which is better for woods work? Love watching all of your videos thanks for all the hard work to make them!
I don't live near a RK store but I was wondering where does a person get RK tractors serviced/warranty work done? Do RK stores actually have service bays?
Mike, I'm looking to do much of the same type of work as in this video. I was set on the rk37 just because of the extra weight and power. But after watching this, i'm thinking maybe the rk24 would be plenty of tractor for the woods. Would you recommend the 24 or 37 for woods work? Btw love watching the videos! Thanks for all the hard word you put into making them for us!
So I have some ground I need to do this to, but it used to be a cornfield and has some deep ruts. Should I just pay to have it plowed up? Or is there something this little tractor could do to make the ground more level? Thanks
Hi Mike. Love the quick attach loader and grapple. Wish I would have waited a few more months to get get mine. Did they give you a new rk24 or did you just get a new seat too? Thanks!
Travis Young I'm with ya. I want the quick attach loader for mine as well. I feel like I got screwed not getting the quick attach loader. Can't find an after market one that will fit. Called "everything attachments" who said the universal quick attach loader bracket doesn't fit the rk24.
Mike your finance committee chairman, Melissa, might not approve what I’m sure will be your request when the RK arrangement ends - to buy all three of their tractors! 😜 Tim
After a few minutes of watching this video and seeing all the limbs being cleared off the ground, it occurred to me that those limbs had to come from somewhere. "Mike should be wearing a safety helmet," I said to myself. Then, near the end, Mike says how careful you have to be when doing this kind of work. I'm not a safety nut, but Mike, you should be wearing a hard hat, just in case. Love the videos, and I don't want to see a widow-maker in action.
Mike, in your opinion would an RK24 be enough tractor for my 27 acre woods that I am building a home in with an approximately 1000’ driveway or would the RK37 be better suited. I like the price on the RK24 a lot better!😉
Hey Mike great work as always. Have you thought about taking the back hoe off and putting a weight rack on the back to give you even better movability.
I think for that type of work it would be Better Not Using Auto Throttle so You rev Up the Engine and not change gearing to give more Power without bogging or increasing the speed too much. Great Vids though just my 2 Cents..
As a historian I don’t understand why you should name a tractor after a bad performing WW2 tank... Compared with the Russian T34 and the German Tiger, the Sheman was helpless. Only because of it’s huge production number it could be useful... I think that nice tractor deserves a more powerful name...
Looks like Sherman Did Pretty Well !!👍👊
Like the beginning looking up at the trees a lot. Thanks for the different view!
Great advice Mike. Slow and steady. Understand HP and weight!
I envy you having Fall weather. Here in Alabama we just continue with summer and in a blink go to winter somehow. Also, Sherman is not a favorite name in this region, but I will continue to watch whatever you decide to name the little bugger.
pro tip : watch movies on InstaFlixxer. Been using it for watching lots of of movies lately.
@Jerry Houston definitely, I've been using InstaFlixxer for since december myself :D
Thanks Mike for taking us along!
Glad you fit on that little guy. I didn't even try the RK24 at our local store. I tried the RK37 and barely fit. Sat on the RK55 and it is the best for a guy who is 6'5". I have a 2013 Mahindra Max 28xl with Loader mounted Grapple and Backhoe perfect setup. I have cleared a lot of land with this setup.
You surely are amazing and ispiring me. I am currently working all with hand tools but i would wish to have homestead as you!

Love hearing that Pileated woodpecker.
We have dueling Pileated Woodpeckers in our woods. "TAK_TAK_TAK_TAK_TAK.......TOK_TOK_TOK_TOK_TOK."

Can you put your 3 pt carryall on the RK24 for carrying firewood? If so Any idea on the weight capacity?
Thanks for sharing.
I am really impressed with my RK 24 it is, without question a real powerhouse!

If it has the universal quick attach it will work
Great video Mike! That grapple comes in handy!
Another great video. Enjoy watching them all. Can't wait to see another one. 👍
The tractor looks like it is balanced very well with the grapple and backhoe.
Great video Mike. Melissa is getting ready, won’t be long till it’s snowing there! I think you have Sherman all decked out, except for a cab for winter. Looks like it will be the ticket for your forest and roads. Makes me wish I was younger. Thanks for sharing with us.

Would be handy to have a PTO chipper on. As you get to clusters of down trees, chip some into path.
That Rk24 is so cool? Do they come with a cab? I'd love to have a little work horse like that.
Yes indeed, the woods were looking fantastic.

I knew that “little Thang” would have many advantages in the woods, over the big guy’s......thanks for the video 👍
Morning, Mike. Right tool for the right job. I more than agree with taking it slow and easy. Being out solo has risks built into it.
Yep...beautiful evening in the woods. Thanks.
Perfect way to end the day. Thank you.
Im watching your videos, currently at ep.27 so plenty more to come, right? Like your firewood processing so far!
Mike,
I like the name “Sherman” for that RK-24. It is a nimble little powerhouse!
Gorgeous piece of land an peaceful!!
Amazing what that little tractor can do.
Thanks again
Those Northern Flickers make a ton of noise.
Pileated Woodpecker
COOL!! My Standard Doxi 2 yr old's name is Sherman, he's quite the pup :)
Love the music while you worked at the 7 min mark. Had my foot tapping! ChinsUp Mike :-)
I think that RK 24 with the grapple works awesome for that type of work..............cute hat Melissa.....lol
How is the grass growing on the other trail ? Cool Tractor name, Sherman.
Had a bit of a binge and finally caught up after being away for the weekend, Great little tractor. a really great channel too.
OOOOH no Mike! is the 24 becomming your fav?
And I guess I would need
ballasts on the back because I probably won’t get the backhoe attachment
I was 327th like. Zero thumbs down so far! Sherman is good in the woods.
I like your song selection, “...let me sleep; give me my dreams!” I fantasize about buying a tractor 🚜 someday. I wish I had an RK near me.
I thought this one was boring, but your camera angles are great.
Hey Mike, another great video of you doing things that I love to do. I never get tried of watching this kind of video. I love working in the woods building trail and processing firewood. Hi Mike nice video that grapple is the bees knees
Good stuff enjoyed that
What a set up. The grapple and the hoe. You can't be stopped now brother!!!
Mike, this is the type of work I want to do on my property along with driveway maintenance. Thought I was set on the rk37 but now I'm liking the smaller setup. In your opinion which is better for woods work? Love watching all of your videos thanks for all the hard work to make them!

You need to include Melissa more often, as she brings a certain amount of flavor to your videos... just a suggestion
Mike, It looks like you have a lot of standing dead in there, let's hope most of it is sound wood, I think you'll need more IBCs.
Outdoors With The Sherman sounds better than Rudy. What are you gonna name your firewood company?
Does anyone know if the 60" grapple is available yet? I want the 60" version of the nice 72" one I've seen here.
Hi Mike. Love the quick attach loader and grapple. Wish I would have waited a few more months to get get mine. Did they give you a new rk24 or did you just get a new seat too? Thanks!

just a new seat
@@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans I like it. Hopefully I can get one for mine too. Thanks a lot for your videos. I really enjoy them!
I would like to know who is doing that song at 8:30. I like it.
Were those black locust at the start?
Love it, ❤️❤️❤️❤️
RK came out with a 74hp tractor.....will you be getting one of those for reviewing..............????????
No all woods here, to big around here. Looks like a beast
I’d call it Kim considering it’s from Korea. Maybe Kimber.
Mike your finance committee chairman, Melissa, might not approve what I’m sure will be your request when the RK arrangement ends - to buy all three of their tractors! 😜 Tim
Does RK 24 come with 3rd function valve installed and plumb on loader?
Derrick Coleman, the third function is optional and will be available 1st of January
Outdoors With The Morgans thanks!

Hey Mike great work as always. Have you thought about taking the back hoe off and putting a weight rack on the back to give you even better movability.
Yea but its nice having the backhoe on for little stumps and things, but I agree a ballast box or something would make it even more maneuverable
My jd 1025r cam clear as good old d2 cat. What I can move with front loder the back ho is help .
I think for that type of work it would be Better Not Using Auto Throttle so You rev Up the Engine and not change gearing to give more Power without bogging or increasing the speed too much. Great Vids though just my 2 Cents..

Yes. Please show this doing some actual mowing please!

Only because of it’s huge production number it could be useful... I think that nice tractor deserves a more powerful name...
Tessa! I’m guessing because he’s American and that’s what the allies used. My dad was in the Canadian Tank core and that’s what he served in
Anyone else think how similar Melissa and Dr Ford are? No offense Melissa, just an observation
Wait what? Man I feel bad for you when she sees this comment lol, you're toast
