- Three reasons not to buy the Harley-Davidson X440. First, the styling is a bit of a hit or miss and the area from the side panel to the tail section looks ungainly, especially in the red colour. Also the quality of some of the materials, the welds, the levers and the finish on the exhaust isn’t as good as you'd expect at the price or in the face of its competition, the Triumph Speed 400. Second, if you expect a 440cc engine to automatically mean high top speeds, it’s not the case with this Harley. It’ll manage a 105kph cruise beautifully but anything beyond will start feeling less good.
Third, compared to competition like the Royal Enfield, Harley-Davison, at present, has far fewer dealers and even with the introduction of Hero’s premium dealership arm from where the X440s will also retail, its location might still be far away from where you live. You must consider this a factor that will influence your ownership experience over the course of time.

First is partly why I opted out. One unexpected 4th flaw is the HD dealerships experience, the HD dealerships at Banjara hills Hyderabad is just below par on all measures - in shop experience to customer satisfaction to the expertise of the people who run the place. Not sure about the other dealers, but if this is the case elsewhere as well then HD just made an already tough battle even tougher for themselves, sadly!
Why was it below par? I have booked the bike from the same showroom?
@@kingpin167 first, 4 bikes kept in a tiny space doesn't look appealing. Second, if you go there and occupy one of the chairs, you may have to be in that chair for eternity before someone checks on you, third, I had to tell one of the salesman that the rear monoshock was preload adjustable and when I enquired about what would be the difference between on road prices if I kept my booking from October vs a new booking, they could not seem to realise what I was trying to ask... There are a few other small niggles but I hope this paints a picture. Oh, also, the side stand on one of the test bike was broken (quality issue?/ ill maintenance?/ both?... I am not sure)
My primary reason was essentially same as point 1 mentioned by Sumi, but I also wanted to point these things out as they matter too, especially when you are there to purchase a certain lifestyle product, not just a commuter.

It's the same with Capital Harley Gurgaon. Horrible delivery experience. The have been trained to open their pants infront of ultra rich customers or youtubers.

My take: Go for this bike. The ride quality is excellent. The vivid red variant looks like a beast and is an eye catcher. Everyone stops to gaze down the bike. Red is the one.. black's road presence js very common like some normal street bike. Delivery expirence was bad. Dont buy from Capital Harley Gurugram!
Don't go for this bike Triumph speed 400 & scrambler is very much better then Harley x440

@@kelawalashehzad3801bro this is the cruiser segment bro. Triumph speed 400 is roadster and it's looks like cafe racer. And mileage you will get around 24 to 27kmpl in speed 400 but in HD x440 you will get around 33kmpl in city and in highway 36kmpl. Also HARELY davidson x440 is very very comfortable for both rider and pillion main advantage our parents feel comfortable in x440 because very comfortable In HD x440. But in speed 400 it's not comfortable for pillion.
I booked and canceled it at Bangalore. Because both Harley showroom and hero showroom demanded illegal charges included in registration like handling charges and they openly told as we need to pay charges to PDC, transportation of vehicle from yard to showroom
I wrote a mail and complained to Harley but they don’t bothered to take action against anyone
Honestly people really need to consider our very own TVS. Superb machine. The 200 RTR is a beast in the sports mode. Only thing missing is the 6th gear. Amazing after sales service. Local service centers are kept in check by the parent company by calling the customer and checking how happy the customer is with the service. I own one for the past 3 years and completely satisfied.

Proud owner of x440 harley davidson, and this is way much better then Royal Enfield 450 or triumph. This has the smoothest engine and uts very very comfortable. Plz don't spread lies.

Imo design apart from build quality shouldn't be considered as a downside in any of the motorcycles as that depends on buyer's personal taste.

Motorcycle sales figures are out for Nov/ Dec 2023 , u can chk that XD 440 is holding forte (Avg sales of 2200 per mnth) as compared to Triumph, Jawa, Honda, KTM....i blv this is enough to show that customer is trusting the X440 inspite of the negative publicity here. Infact XD440 is the only bike with growth from Nov to Dec , wherein all other bikes have degrowth ..i do agree that XD 440 is not perfect and so is the case with other bikes also!!

The huge gap between the fuel tank and the headlight assembly makes this 440 look terrible.. More like a dislocated vertebral column.

Is it really a harley if its not leaking oil?
Is it really a harley if doesn't take as much engine oil as my 528?
Is it really a harley if doesn't have separate transmission fluid?
My hardcore Harley freinds will develop a stroke if they ever have to ride this one.

Being a Harley I was expecting it to be a proper cruiser but we got a roadster instead...
It's just the first bike from the collaboration @kaverjordankharbteng2550. We don't know what's yet to come.
In this price harley is not worth , cb 350 is also a good now a days with affordable price Reliability is also a reason for buying cb 350

You need to wash your eyes with Harpic atleast 5 times. I'm still sure some amount of crap will still stay in them. But hey, atleast it'll be lesser than the crap stacked at your brain.
Harley needs to start selling bikes like this in NA. 1200cc is not a new rider friendly bike.

I sold my Hero Xpulse within a year. Very poor engine, pathetic build quality and ridiculous service, good ride quality though. Very heavy for 200cc engine. I have a Splendour (2019) and it is a vibrator. Hero is manufacturing very cheap quality motorcycles and scooters.

My delivery experience with Capital Harley Gurgaon was horrible. I dont recommend anyone to purchase any bike from there. Highly unprofessional arrogant staffs.

390 Adventure is more reliable and ktm service network is good.

@@motorinc I didn’t test ride 390A, I have seen people are doing world tour on it, so I got fascinated towards that machine. I understand that x440 is cruiser however 390A is adv. what do you suggest for long distance touring and little bit of off road as well. Is X440 going to solve the purpose.

No that would not work, VV. More top-end would need a new engine. But yes, we agree, the Karizma being a 210 is less attractive than a 450 coming out first, followed by the smaller XMR
@@Aditya_22e 440 has a strong cut off. So I meant as a shorter stroke so a bit more power band than what's right now. As mentioned in the vedio it has a high low end, which can be forgiven in case of bike like Karizma. That's all, apologies for my lack of knowledge
I never felt like the Karizma was ever a top end machine. Just a good power curve with a bit more low end for a good city one. So the way you described the 440 it could been that. Though I didn't test ride the 440 so this is just a wild dream from a teenager.
@@motorinc may be you are right, the pipe dream of OG Karizma stays a pipe dream thus such fantasies arise. A new engine derived from this atleast in the future and call it an actual Karizma R.

If anyone want the thumps and feel of RE but more reliable engine, go for CB350.
People are using decades old RE motorcycles everywhere in India as well as outside. Show me one Honda motorcycle which have survived for more than 10 years (not talking about outside market).
@@Antony_Shamarjit_Lee My CBZ xtreme from 2010 is running smooth for 14 years without any engine problem. I mostly ride it above 7k rpm on highways and redline it if the road is empty. Still I have confidence that it will last for the coming years because the engine is still smooth and acceleration is top notch.
