I’ve always used all your farms and never had problems with them, they are so easy to follow and absolutely amazing, especially for someone who isn’t patient…. Thank you so much for helping the bedrock users 😊
I will say... If you leave the render distance of the machine it will probably break but I found the problem. If you look under the extended part of the piston and there's sand. Break that and the machine and it should work again. I've found that it will actually replicate the sand in some instances
@@anabarchaloni7792 if you look at the sticky piston, there should be sand on top of of the extended part. Sometimes it falls through that and will end up under it. That piece of sand is the sand the kelp is on. The reason it broke was because the sand fell.
I can't get mine to work, the sand falls through and the bottom kelp gets broken with one of the sand getting broken as well. Any way to fix this issue?
@@Grimrory that's the problem with this farm. It breaks way too often and it depends way too much on chance if it'll even give you bone meal. If recommend, if you're using it for emeralds, use the gold farm that JC does. That one never breaks and gives you way more emeralds
this is exactly what i needed rn. me and my gf have been playing in a world and we got a librarian that needs paper so i made your sugar cane farm which works amazing but the issue is not having enough bone meal and this is perfect
Okay after playing with the build since it was originally posted: •Have extra sand and kelp set aside. •Mind your chunk border. It works effectively in the middle of a chunk. Closer to the border it breaks after three kelp harvested. Verified in same chunk build, moved from border to center and it fixed the issue. •If moving more than 8 blocks away check periodically.

My world is absolutely littered with your farms, I even have one of your outdated gold farms merged with a checker mob farm gathering tons of stuff. Much appreciation for your awesomeness.
I've slightly increased the rates by: • Setting the repeater to 2 ticks • Removing the uppermost redstone torch • Shifting the 2 closest blocks connecting the piston inversely (left is now down; keep the dust, right is now up; remove dust) • The right block now serves to keep water from spilling out for the last step • Waterlog the piston
I have fixed this so you can leave the area and also log of and when you get back on it won’t be broken. Just dig down three blocks under the extended part of the stick piston and place a torch, what usually happens when it breaks is it somehow glitches out and creates a new sand block below the extended part of the piston, but this way the sand block breaks. I also recommend you put a hopper under the torch to collect the duplicated sand overtime. Using this method there’s no need to ever turn the farm off.
After I built 3 other farms, including 2 large ones which did not work, this one finally works great! I did extend it to 11 kelps by replicating the middle part. For the last (11th) one I did replace the composter with a hopper thus I collect kelp for replacing the broken ones. The farm with 10 kelps (prior build with only composters) produces about 3000 kelp/hour (evaluated after 15 minutes of testing). For convenience, I did also place one additional chest into the ground to the left of the first bone meal chest and connected it via a hopper row to the 10 bonemeal chests so that I do not have to open all 10 chests. A few remarks about the video itself: very good build and “how it works” explanations, sometimes too much detail for my taste, but that’s OK, since some may not know red stone mechanics. Very nice move on the other side to have a review of all major parts after the build with verification of the critical parts. One small point for improving the video quality would be to build the farm on a marked area (f.- ex. white stones) which shows the footprint of the complete farm. Thanks, for this great video and farm!
Shortly after my post, I did realize that the kelp chest fills up really fast, so I altered the design a little bit by adding a 12th chest with composter (just like all other composters) and directed the 11th hopper (for the kelp chest) into the compüoster chest. This way excess kelp is used for additional bone meal. I connected it to the bone meal hopper conduct bypassing the kelp shelf, which requires 5 hoppers. It could be done with 3 hoppers if the kelp chest is a single one. Unfortunately, I cannot upload a picture.
JC Playz, when you make your videos in the future I think it would be a huge benefit to the players if you somehow highlight the size of the build in the beginning by using a different block instead of grass, maybe dirt path?
Thank you, specifically for the sticky piston explanation. I'm new and only been playing for a few weeks. I built something much simpler, and saw other builds, but no one explained why the sticky pistons were needed. Updating my build now. 😺
Hello JC, the farm is good but rather small. I made it and thought why not make it longer, which I did and it works I now have a stack of bonemeal every min. Which is on top of the tree farm I made also by your video. Which I again improved. Thank u lol
This is great - unlike the old one which seemed to break every minute this seems to keep pumping them out - even when you leave the chunk area, shut off the game etc, you come back and it just kicks back in and so far so good. Thanks JC - made this after the tall flower farm and as usual your designs do not disappoint.
I changed the previous automatic bone meal farm to incorporate this single switch Redstone system. Works amazing. No more flicking the 2nd switch until its right anymore.
Was working in 1.19. Once 1.20 came out, had an issue where the kelp was getting stuck on the piston/floating to the top. Was able to fix it with glass and glass panes by using them to alter the flow of water. Also a second row of hoppers. Works just fine again.
@@cacacadenRl Yes! I've gotten it to work. I'll see if I can get a picture loaded somewhere showing the setup. All I had to do to fix it was put glass panels two blocks in front of the trap doors with glass blocks under them (in front of the pistons) and two rows of hoppers. Works a dream. No loss.
Thank you so much for short, to the point, and easy to follow tutorials that still include explainations. I'm finally learning how to make farms on minecraft and it's not as scary as I thought.
After watching some of your tutorials and building a few, I gotta say your farms are pretty solid. But these videos would be so much more helpful if you explain WHY the farms work and how the circuits are actually running, that way folks can take your ideas and build their own designs rather than just building the exact same thing that you do, step by step.
This is aweeeesome. Built it the way you described and it functions exactly the way you show. Super easy and now I've got it memorized. Very, very, very helpful! I'm going to let it run while I work landscaping around it and attend to everything else. Perfect for feeding the up and coming sugar cane farm. Thank you!!! What causes the duplication glitch for the moss? Can it be exploited to create other farm types of similar function?
If it breaks by you disconnecting or leaving the area, make sure to add the sand back that is supposed to be behind the composter and it should work again.
Pro Tip: If your farm needs to be shut off when you leave... DO NOT power it with a lever. Wire it to a pressure plate. Then it is only on when you're there using it. This goes for all farms that are turned off when exiting.
Love this simpler update to a previous design! I was struggling getting it to work but figured out that I had made it on a chunk border. I moved it to the middle of a chunk and it works perfectly!
Built this 19/07/23 on Bedrock. Did not work initially as the piston kept breaking the water so my kelp would not grow. Fixed this by removing the bottom sand block.
Thank you. Perfect timing! I needed bonemeal farm bad. However a single cell wasnt enough for my needs. Luckily your build can be tileable, i believe up to 11 blocks without altering redstone.
Yes, this is easily tileable. I just made an 8-wide version. The left and right sides of the farm stay the same, but the center blocks (with the sand, pistons, etc.) just needs to be duplicated for however many kelp plants you want. I also replaced the composters with smokers to produce dried kelp (for fuel) instead of bonemeal.
I build the farm, but I’m having an issue. For some reason the kelp is not growing. Did anyone have this issue? Or does anyone have any ideas how to fix it?
Just so you know, how the redstone is positioned on the back means you can build this twice back to back with one lot of redstone, both farms operated by one switch. I tried it, it works. Double the bonemeal. Amazing build, thank you
I just tried to do the same thing lol! For seem reason tho the piston in the back doesn’t break the kelp it just pushes away the water. Did you experience this?

I think there's a fix for that, it's a really common issue with this kind of farms Edit: try replacing the sand and the kelp, avoid leaving it turned on when unloading the chunk (going far away from the machine )
You can set this up as a kelp farm for fuel as well, just put down a line of hoppers 1 block out going all the way down and a hopper under all those facing down into smokers with hoppers under those feeding into a storage system. Just sit afk for a couple hours and hop back on to top off the smokers with fuel after combining all the cooked kelp into blocks
2 chest one sign one water bucket 19 glass 3 glass pane one slab one trapdoor 6 ladder one lever , one sticky piston 2 hoppers one composter 2sand one piston 6 redstone 1 repeater 5 torvhes of redstone kelp and 32 building blocks.
For those who have problems with the kelp not growing: Try switching to a lower signal at the redstone repeater. I went just one step lower and then it worked. Great and simple farm. I built two of them facing each other, really happy.
A few stats on how good this is: I have built 4 identical farms, with two of them facing each other and sharing a double chest. Underneath that I have built a simple rail-circle on which a minecart w/hopper collects the items from the farms and then drops it into a final chest. If all 4 parts of this farm run at the same time, the numbers are crazy: 1284 bone meal per hour Total storage capacity of 13248 bone meal (207 stacks. 3 double chests and 9 hoppers) Which means that this extended farm can run 10.3 hours on its own without having to be cleared. Edit: Turns out the 10 hours are only theoretical as it can´t run more than ~1h before the sand and sticky piston glitch and stop the farm from working.
@@kardo8942 sadly, just repair it...the farm is based on a glitch (otherwise the kelp wouldnt be growing that fast), so it is normal that glitch will go wrong sometimes. You can also try to build it away from a chunk border, from what I read that helped many users. But other than that, be prepared to just fix the sand issue from time to time...

Wow this is awesome it's so good thanks! 👍
For those who have problems with the kelp not growing:
Try switching to a lower signal at the redstone repeater. I went just one step lower and then it worked.
Great and simple farm. I built two of them facing each other, really happy.
A few stats on how good this is:
I have built 4 identical farms, with two of them facing each other and sharing a double chest.
Underneath that I have built a simple rail-circle on which a minecart w/hopper collects the items from the farms and then drops it into a final chest.
If all 4 parts of this farm run at the same time, the numbers are crazy:
1284 bone meal per hour
Total storage capacity of 13248 bone meal (207 stacks. 3 double chests and 9 hoppers)
Which means that this extended farm can run 10.3 hours on its own without having to be cleared.
Edit: Turns out the 10 hours are only theoretical as it can´t run more than ~1h before the sand and sticky piston glitch and stop the farm from working.
my kelp is growing, but the sand keeps braking... what should i do?
@@kardo8942 sadly, just repair it...the farm is based on a glitch (otherwise the kelp wouldnt be growing that fast), so it is normal that glitch will go wrong sometimes.
You can also try to build it away from a chunk border, from what I read that helped many users.
But other than that, be prepared to just fix the sand issue from time to time...
@@moritzwagner1651 thats the problem, the sand breaks instantly! always after i turn the farm on it breaks the sand block, but now that you mentioned the chunk border, my farm is kinda close to one... maybe this is the problem
@@moritzwagner1651 still not growing pls help!
The top piston keeps pushing the water out so the kelp can’t grow, any way to resolve that?
same here
This happened to me as well, fixed it by removing the bottom sand block
its pushing the water for me too but mines still growing
It works! The hardest part was finding a mangrove tree to make a composter out of mangrove slabs. I gave up trying to find a natural mangrove forest. Searched forever. Found out that traders can carry propagules. Kept emeralds with me everywhere I went just in case. And FINALLY I was able to get a propagule! MONEY!!
bro you can make a composter with any wooden slab
@@carterburkholder8386 that’s what I thought ?
@@carterburkholder8386 new player here, I did the same thing, used a seed map and travelled like 6000 blocks to the nearest mangrove swamp then after I built it I realized you can use any type of wood 😂
I'm having problems with the sand breaking after one kelp being harvested. Anyone help?
idk if u still need help with this but i had the same issue and it happened to me because the sand somehow changed places so i placed it back correctly
Wow! I'm gonna have to give this a try!
Another Great video!
This doesnt work anymore. As soon as the machine is turned on the kelp is harvested and it doesnt continu. So this one isnt functioning as it should anymore.
This farm still works. Make sure you did the redstone correctly and make sure there is no sand below the sticky piston.
@@JC_Playz i'll redo it again. As far as i know i did the whole farm step by step as explained. Yet when i turn it off, the whole kelp is gone and it doesnt grow back.
@@JC_Playz checked the redstone and that's all as it shows in the video. Also broke open to check for the sand. But as soon as the farm is running it breaks the sand ON the sticky piston after 3 turns. Other the the 2 pieces of sand that should be used there's no sand. So non of both are the case but still it doesnt work.
I personally am VERY bad at Redstone and I find you very helpful ❤
my kelp doesnt grow idk what to do.
Literally
I always come to your channel for auto farm tutorials, they always work!! THANK YOUU!!! :)
Just out of curiosity would red sand work?
It supposed to work
Actually works, this was my first build ever using red stone thanks
I made this last night and it broke. It cloned a sand block underneath of the piston and broke the kelp and one of my wood building blocks disappeared. But I fixed it by removing the cloned sand block
2 for 2 on Farms working great! Definitely getting a subscribe.
Sadly it doesn't work for me (the sand is falling trough the Piston once activated). I rechecked everything but i did it exactly like you did. Pls Help
Make sure you did not make the farm on a chunk border.
@@JC_Playzwhat’s that mean?
Awesome farm! Your voice also reminds me of my old friend!
Sweet my kelp doesn't grow
Make sure there isn’t a block under the extended part of the sticky piston
Thank you! Works great!
Great video! Thanks for your content, mate! One question though about MineCraft mechanics. How does that sticky piston make the kelp grow every second? Without the sticky piston we would have to wait for the kelp the grow by itself, right?
Works perfectly! Just what i needed!
Thanks this was very easy to do and straight forward
Lots of other tutorials are very hard to follow what they are doing, so I always watch your vids for how to make bedrock farms
10/10 this man is honest and is straightforward and doesn’t ask for much he is what Minecraft content should be and his channel is nothing but truth he shows everything step by step
Give him all of your support this man diserves a sub
I just recently got back into Minecraft and your easy tutorials are so helpful
Made this in my friend's realm for my base, wanted to make a flower farm and needed heaps of bonemeal. This works and you explained it perfectly so thank you!
2 chest, 1 sign, 1 waterbucket, 19 glass, 2 glass panes, 1 slab, trap door, 6 ladder, 1 lever, 1 sticky piston, 2 hoppers, 1 composter, 2sand , 1 piston, 6 redstone, redstone repeater, 5 redstone torch, 1 kelp, 32 solid blocks
Works great! Thank you so much.
If you need a fuel farm you can take a smoker and put it where the thing that makes bonemeal is at and put it there
super helpful, thanks!!
Thank you I used your tree farm and this one in my hardcore world it has helped a lot
I dont know if anyone else had this problem but I was having trouble placing the hopper on the composter because I would select the top and it would place the hopper to the side of the composter. After some overly complicated troubleshooting I raised myself one block above the composter instead of looking down at it from same block level and it worked.
Amazing vid man your truly a legend!
Best bonemeal farm ever; Thank you! This farm works perfectly in Microsoft account version (I prefer to say it because many of recent tuto does not work on Microsoft edition) ;)
@@josephstalin6846 On my game, I also have two main version : Java and Microsoft, bedrock does not exist on Microsoft account. And it's definitly different because on Microsoft version, server is free with others microsoft account, not bedrock. And microsoft only work with Xbox in cross-platform. And many behvior dose not exist on Microsoft account, like duplication tech or collision based technique.
This and the sugarcane farm are amazing, ive now fully automated it, making hopper minecart put bonemeal in the sugercane farm
Thank you for the tutorial. I made 8 of these stacked on each other. It makes about a stack of bonemeal in about 2 minutes
I can't get it to work not sure what I'm doing wrong everything functions but dosent produce kelp at all
@@ZakYoung100same
@@ZakYoung100 me too I think it’s the chunk borders but I can’t figure out how to fix
