But manipulating resting souls and turning dead bodies into rotting undead monsters that have to obey you is still unnatural, morbid, and kinda violating even if you treat them well when you're done. Kind of like how what Leanore did to Hector was still super messed up even though she treated him well "all things considered" afterward. It doesn't excuse the sin, but it doesn't make them bad people either. And that's what makes them different from people who do screwed up things for the sake of it.
What a beautiful, breath taking scene. The art and animation is top notch, showing all of the emotion and context for this scene. It masterfully introduces Hector and sets up his personality and mercy and for- God damn it San
The show doesn't answer that question but I would guess it at least smells like death for a little while. Fun fact, while rot does eventually set in, the main reason that a corpse smells very soon after death is because when you die, your bowels loosen and you shit yourself. So...who knows.
