- This was the part I was dreading! Painting spindles can be soul destroying however I think we definitely took the right decision to paint before installing!

I think you are seriously understating your quality of work. Your attention to detail and overall work standard is phenomenal and an inspiration to us all. The house will be a masterpiece when finished. :)
What an incredible difference! Proof that the quality nor quantity of your tools has nothing to do with the outcome! Your modest tool selection makes your skill as a workman even more evident. Excellent example of what can be accomplished with care.
I'm hooked, I could watch every video in one sitting and almost have.
Quality production skills and Diy skills are beyond that of most pros. Definitely deserve more subs.
Fantastic attention to detail, a joy to see.
I spray cars for a living but those spindles looked extremely fiddly to paint. Rather you than me 😄
Loved all your videos particularly these stairs ones. Keep it up!
Bloody good job that! I'm always left impressed and inspired by any and every job you do, no matter how small. Look forward to the next video.
Looks great, well done to both of you. That plainer is coming in very handy indeed! Love the pics with the clothes pegs on the stairs, might have to borrow that idea!
Nice work! Also like the new intro and family picture. Always look forward to new videos.
such amazing craftsmanship. really great attention to detail
Looking great Tim!
Nice one Tim, and some great advertising for CVM The Gathering!!
Just found your channel and see that you do great work and have a keen eye for details. I would like to offer an idea for the next bout of painting, when you mount your spindles back them out a half turn. Paint that side then turn them 180 degrees and repeat.
Watched all of your staircase resto videos. First off I want to say you did an awesome job. Secondly I know you went through a lot of trouble to restore the side molding on the treads. However have you considered staining the treads, painting the risers white, and using a carpet runner with runner rods? Best of luck with the rest of your renovation! Merry Christmas and happy New Year!
How the hell you guys have not got your own tv show , love your channel 👍🏻
Cracking job as always 👍🏻
One of the channnnnel here on RUclips, always interesting, thank you so much ;-)
A good job well done.
Looks brilliant! Cheers from Sweden! :-)
Looks great!
I’ve found in past projects a heat gun on the stickers makes them easier to peel.
Love the show happy making
Tim, when I watched this video 2ish years ago, I think I laughed at the complexity of having to do such a task! Fast forward to mid lockdown and I no find myself doing the same task and rewatching the video! One thing I wish you talked about was measuring for the infill strips. Pretty easy on the straight runs, but how do you measure for the angled spindles? If I wanted a 95mm space between my spindle, I thought I would need a 95mm spacer.. apparently not!? Is that a naive thing to think or is it simple math? HELP!?? Anyone????
I just clamped them apart at the correct distance and marked up on a bit of scrap. Too lazy for trigonometry! 😂
@@TheRestorationCouple that works for me! Thanks
nice job. do you recommend sanding pre-primed balusters before spraying?
So no need for nailing the spindles or fill strips?
I’ll be doing this in my house coming up soon.
Thanks for the videos!!!
I did pin the second lot on an angle with 18g brads which is worth doing as they can have a tiny amount of movement if there is shrinkage over time. It’s hidden by the full strips.
Have you tips on stripping spindles? Would you take them out? Love your videos!
Good job
What about the top and bottom? Should that be painted? Mine are for outdoors.
Really really like your vids, love them all, but the one I'm waiting to see desperately its your workshop, please please!! maybe you can do something about it😖, I really really want it to see a big nice organize clean space. !!!Now, you don't have to listen to me, its just an opinion, but it will give you A LOT of likes. Cheers from Mexico!!!✌✌✌✌
I was wondering since you put them on screws, would the whole contraption hold on if you just flipped it upside down to make the turnover easier?
+MidnightAmratha possibly but would need to hang the 2x4 from the roof I guess.
MidnightAmratha I was just about to write the same thing. Flip and hang from the ceiling.
Use a warm iron to remove the labels.
Envy.
I got the same richard burbidge ones last year. Sticky labels, very glossy horrid primed finish. Ready to paint they werent! I didnt have the option to spray them either. Several days of painting with a brush in situ.
trick for removing sticker labels. blast it with the heat gun, and it will peal off in one piece and leave very little adhesive on the wood.
it never ends...
You certainly are dedicated. It is hard to believe that you would work on the stairs before going to your real job.
you certainly spare no effort intentionally or no! But a great job. Tx for sharing :)
If you don’t want stickers don’t buy from diy. I just lightly rub them down with some wet and dry paper just for a key then add oil based gloss as it shinier
2 years late to the dance but better late than never. To get the sticky labels off of anything try heating them with a heat gun/hair dryer... should soften the glue and make removal easier. Cheers.
My heart goes out to you... I know what it's like. My wife used to insist that we redecorate just before Christmas and I'd be the one doing it........ I hate painting.......... I don't have to do it now I've murdered her................Only joking. After forty years I told her it was her turn to do it.. Suddenly it's no longer a requirement....... Love these vids... Merry Christmas
I wish I had a husband like you
