The sprites for Tekken and Fighting Vipers are from bootleg Genesis games and Virtua fighter sprites are from the official Virtua Fighter 2 on Sega Genesis.
I remember playing one of those games once. It had MK characters, SF, and DBZ too. Crazy I wish I could make one like that but with marvel vs Capcom graphics. I honestly think that's era was the golden era of fighting games. Going 3D takes something out of it.
oh wow, you've been missing out, friend. i've been a Console Gamer for a long time, but once i've made the jump to PC, i see why so many people go PC Elitist. Mods, Fan Games and Indie Games galore.
@UltimateGamerCC oh yeah. I totally want a PC I just don't have the money, and when I do have the money I'm worried about buying some piece of crap because I don't know enough about PCs to feel safe about making a purchase. 😅👍
I still remember on the mid 2000's when a custom characters creator asked SNK if they had a peoblem with him using their sprits to create new character for free. And the Madlads of old SNK said that so long as the dude isn't claiming ownership of the original sprites and so long as he is not making money with it, that he could not only rip the sprites but even distribute fan games and even MUGEN version of their characters. Old Capcom was agaisnt it though, which is why he ended up only making characters from SNK sprites
I haven't played a MUGEN game with a massive selection of characters and stages. From what I've seen in the past, games with large rosters often have about two-thirds of the characters lacking AI, which makes arcade mode pretty dull since those characters just block your hits. On the other hand, the characters that do have AI scripts can be really enjoyable to battle against, as long as they're programmed well. I stepped away from MUGEN for a while because, at 41, I don't find it as exciting as I did back in 2010. Plus, I still have an unfinished update for a MK MUGEN game that I need to complete, if I ever get around to it.
I am wanting CvS3, please be sprite based. And include more than capcom and snk like this. Need Sega characters in it too. SoR eternal champions, and more
If you have the time you can build our own MUGEN, choosing stages, music, player select layout, individual characters, stats for the characters, ... Back then I basically rebuilt CVS 2 with it, so I could play it. That was before PS2 emulators worked of course.
Actually, I wanted to point out as a HUGE MUGEN shill, MUGEN was originally intended to be a first person shooter (I think first person), but during development turned into this fighting engine. They were going to cancel the game, but during the time the devs at Elecbyte felt there needed to be more commercial fighting games on PC at the time, so they kept it, built on it and then here we are. MUGEN is also an acronym for something, but the devs forgotten what the acronym meant. This information I share came from a document entry file from one of the old WinMUGEN builds I downloaded from way back in the day. EDIT: I also wanna point out the Virtua Fighter and Tekken cast all come from a bootleg fighting game called V.F Fighter 2 VS TAken 2 (Obviously Virtua Fighter 2 VS Tekken 2) and got ported to MUGEN. Its a weird bootleg fighter honestly lol
That is very wrong. MUGEN, as the name suggested (infinite), was supposed to be able to adapt any genre from the SNES era, space shooters were already in development. The whole project was cancelled because an early beta was leaked (the one with one stage and Kung Fu Man), and all MUGENs are built on this release.
🎩 love your content, Top Hat 🧐 edit: since the makers were creating moves based off the literal move names, I'm still waiting on the Cammy "scissor attack"
I downloaded mugen for the first time this July, and then Ikemen Go. I’ve been heavily designing my own game using Ikemen Go. So far 1,140 characters, 650 stages. The arcade mode goes through each game and is roughly 220 matches.
The only bad thing about the game is that is no Note pad File telling you the inputs for the special moves. Some character let you see the their move list in game while other characters get a stupid taunt mapped to the input special move list D=
I prefered the sprites and gameplay from Street Fighter Alpha 3 personally. The super gauges were really well done in that game. The animation just looked better. SF2 was my first intro into this series though. So it does hold a special place in my heart. But I played way more Alpha 3 than any version of the original SF2 game. SFA3 also had World Tour mode where you could hone a custom version of a character. Adding passive abilities that you unlocked as you progressed through that mode. Getting max level was often a decent challenge. One of the last available matches was against a busted version of M. Bison who had infinite super meter and an ultra powerful psycho crusher super that covered the whole screen and did a ton of damage. That version of Bison wasnt even playable without codes. It was the final boss mode of him. Often called Shin Bison or Shin Vega (japanese name) because it was slightly different than the normal one. But yeah. That game was my shit. I had some custom versions of Akuma and others that were nearly unbeatable. Because I was able to adjust them using equipable stuff. That coupled with my style and I could basically beat everyone i played against. Too had that version didnt have online play. Even though in a ranked lobby I'd be destroyed. I know im no pro level player. But it would be fun to use those versions against a wider array of players than just my school buddies. Lol
Wow. After watching more of the video about this version. I really want to try it out. It looks pretty badass. Hopefully the non street fighters get the same awesome move roster that the home team got in their enhanced versions
MUGEN is the Fighting Game Engine that just keeps on giving. i love that Engine almost as much as the RPG Maker Engine, both are responsible for so much Gaming Goodness.
Does this version have a mode to play through EVERY fighter as a single choice. Like a survival run through the full roster? Because SF2 DID have you do that. But with this many playables that would be a very very long story/arcade mode.
Mugen is great, but almost never balanced. If anyone has any build suggestions of any that are well done and balances let me know. Especially superhero builds.
I didn't expect someone to still put out MUGEN videos in 2024 and sell them as hot stuff. Don't get me wrong. MUGEN sure is nice to have and I played a ton of MUGEN games when I was young. But the older I get, the more I appreciate just playing balanced (!) games that have a same art style across all fighters and stages so I always get back to the classic arcade titles. I'd love to have a (decently made!!!) rom hack of SF2 that includes more characters but as long as that doesn't happen, I just play SF2 itself. MUGEN is fun to look at and play for a few minutes, appreciating all the efforts that went into creating/porting all those fighters but it's nothing I'd ever pull out if one of my SF buddies come to my house to have a "couch fight".
you'd be surprised. . . that being said i've had mine since... i wanna say 2010...? i dig into MUGEN every once in a blue moon to check for new fighters. my roster is about 850 "Characters", including Bosses and Minigames like Break The Targets from SMASH.
thing is these sprites were not handmade, but ripped. scaling them isnt really something that you can do unless you're a Sprite Artist, and none would do such a job for free.
not a ROM, it's a Freeware Fighting Game Engine called MUGEN, which is the Japanese word for Infinite, eluding to it's infinite potential. it's a Windows PC exclusive engine though, so if you're looking to put it on an Android or something, you're outta luck.

I saw Raoh in the footage, so it includes fist of the Northstar? Is Baki in there?
6:49 That was so annoying back in the day! Everybody I was around played Ryu or Ken in the arcades.
I miss my Mugen. I need to download it all over again
lol - MUGEN. I still have all my builds from like… HS. Some characters probably don’t even exist for download anymore.
you'd be surprised. . . that being said i've had mine since... i wanna say 2010...? i dig into MUGEN every once in a blue moon to check for new fighters. my roster is about 850 "Characters", including Bosses and Minigames like Break The Targets from SMASH.
So it's M.U.G.E.N.
Looking forward to my evercade alpha coming yeahhhhhhhh
Nice job on sneaking In teddy long playa
Need to put the links of the games in the description
Cool. Maybe one day ill try and remake Rise of the Robots.
I wish they rescaled the sprites so they could be somewhat unified between franchises
thing is these sprites were not handmade, but ripped. scaling them isnt really something that you can do unless you're a Sprite Artist, and none would do such a job for free.
So where can I DL this?
Google "MUGEN Games"
This game took character selection to the "let's invite everyone" ahh level 💀
Is there an ending for each character? 🐿️
@SquirrelMaster69 The modders or developer would be very tired that their hands began to crack like nutcrackers
They should've put rival schools characters on here
The Tekken and Fighting Vipers sprites were taken from the 16-bit bootlegs I think
Compiled ≠ Game
That's something you should know.
Is the cast from the capcom jojo fighting game playable?
Should've built a wall. 😂🤣
This is better than the original
Finally another Mugen video!! Also FIRST!!
Up next ikuman go?
I need to play it ASAP
Somebody remade Streetfighter so it plays like Streetfighter 2 on MUGEN.
good luck configuring 🎮
*MUGEN*
RIP Reuben Kee
Old news, MUGEN has been around for decades.
Where can one obtain this marvel of homebrew design?
look up MUGEN and you'll be on the right track. from there you will find a DL of this pack somewheres.
Sorry but too many characters that are too tiny or too large compared to the regular characters.
Salty Bet
whats the link to this i wanna try it ?
i'd Rather Keep 100-200 Characters
That will be my LIMIT!
I wonder where to play this game?
Are there Sanjo Fighter characters?
Where can I download this. Ileeegaaalll ! rom file?
not a ROM, it's a Freeware Fighting Game Engine called MUGEN, which is the Japanese word for Infinite, eluding to it's infinite potential. it's a Windows PC exclusive engine though, so if you're looking to put it on an Android or something, you're outta luck.
@@UltimateGamerCC thank you for clarifying that.
