i just switched from maya to blender and this tool works a lot like maya hotkeys and features. i love this, makes my transition a lot easier! super happy i found this.
videos like this are so helpful. some add on packages for blender arnt the most intuitive and as a visual learner spending hours on a wiki isnt what i call helpful.
I got butthurt I didn't understand what you were doing in another video bc I hadn't heard of Machin3 Tools and ofc you're the guy who's got the tutorial, wish I'd seen this one first lol
So many tools and I still don't fully understand this one, well, or many of them ha, but the align and mirror tools were such a time saver and worth getting it.
Thank you for doing this and explaining what most of us would likely use the most for each tool. I finally turn on the top 3. lol It's too bad align tool doesn't work when one of the objects has its rotation transform applied but I have 3 point align for that.
This is one of my top 3 addons for blender, I can't imagine not having it. When I saw the new pricing I didn't hesitate to get it, and it is pretty cheap in comparison with other addons which are about 40$.
👍🏻 It's meant to be a quick run-through to that's understandable. I have videos that go through individual elements of Machin3 Tools here at a slower pace with more explanation is that helps: ruclips.net/p/PLnqmLZKRm5CYGKLbXGa3l74XPxTi45ft2
dunno if anyone gonna see this but im still on the fence about this (lmao) currently, im thinking about if i should get the deus-ex for the extra features it gives, or even if i should get the prime version at all any thoughts on what i should do? is there any extra setup once i install machinetools? like enabling settings, etc?
@ZeroTwo-wb7rd you will need to enable the settings you want as it let's you select what you're interesting in. It's just clicking the options you want. If you check out my playlist on Machin3 tools playlist I cover it there. As for the Deus Ex version it has two major tools not available in the Prime. I personally find both handy but what is your Blender use? It may not be worth it for you....
@ArtisansofVaul hello bro thx for your reply... i am using blender for modelling of all types: hard surface, sub d. etc i already own hardops and boxcutter, as well as other tools like retopoflow and kitops... i was wondering if getting $5 version is fine, or if its not 100% needed for its current features
@GermanFragEditing I do in two parts. They are both kn this playlist (as well as some other videos focusing on Mesh Machine): ruclips.net/p/PLnqmLZKRm5CbXvERNjPPdu7jvZ6eCQUxr
not only worthy I felt actually bad for getting it for free as I believe good work needs to be rewarded, especially in industries like this - with too much work for too little money - so I bought Deus Ex version even though I've never actually used extra functions.
Thank you for this useful tutorial. I just started modeling and a question has been occupying my mind, maybe it's funny, but does Blender have a good career future? If I get an answer, I can continue with much more energy. thank you
That's a difficult one. It's bee getting used more and more and a lot of the theory is applicable in other programs regardless. It also helps you learn a larger variety of skills like sculpting, nodes concepts and topography. But there are other softwares that are specialist and "standard" for some industries so it does depend a lot of what you're thinking of going into.
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I switched to this software for advertising, and in the future I want to advertise for markets. Thank you for your answer.@@ArtisansofVaul
would be cool if the developer of machine tools could implement a perpendicular snap of the knife tool like in Maya. Some features are simply missing in Blender
in Maya one has the option to snap to an edge in a 90 degree angle when possible. In Blender it only works as long you are working with the axis x y z, but does not work in local space right? when you rotate a cube for example
@dubtube6691 Ah I see. Blender already allows you to snap to increments after each click to allow this. It's just related to your view so it can be any plane. It's covered in this video along with other tricks you might like: ruclips.net/video/DhQOisnlMu0/видео.html
@@ArtisansofVaul ok ok, it works :) in your video you explained how to change the number of the angle snap increment. Pressing A twice it changes between absolute and relative ! and with D it shows a 90 degree snap, nice. works in Blender as well, not so obvious but the edge gets yellow in relative mode
the Machin3 Tool addon has a weird Error message saying.. Python: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\Ben\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\4.1\scripts\addons\MACHIN3tools\ui\operators\mode.py", line 68, in execute if sync_tools and active_tool in get_tools_from_context(context): ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ File "C:\Users\Ben\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\4.1\scripts\addons\MACHIN3tools\utils\tools.py", line 15, in get_tools_from_context tools[subtool.idname] = {'label': subtool.label, ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'label' ...does someone know how to fix that?
Funny how blender is basically unusable without paid apps. People say how free it is, but you end up paying almost as much as maya with the required apps.
Unusable is quite an exaggeration, its just faster. Id also be curious how much you pay for Maya as I don't think the addons I use (and I have quite a few) would even make a dent in the Maya price tag.
I would agree maybe "usuable" is a bit too hyperbolic, but, there is a night and day difference in efficiency between Blender's default settings and the features paid for apps provide.. Is it doable to never use them? Sure. Will it lead to efficient workflow and an overall pleasant experience? Not likely. Box cutter, hard ops, and mesh machine are nearly required add-ons to make complex meshes. Look at hardop's, boolean cutter, Or box cutter's easy panel lines, and compare these to Blender's default options. Blender is a great piece of software, but it's not free if you want to use it at any high level. Also, regarding Maya, autodesk has a Maya indie license for under $300.
Crazy useful.. this addon does so much that I always forget all that it does .. even the basic stuff.
This is a must have add-on.
Totally agree. I wouldn't be without it.
i just switched from maya to blender and this tool works a lot like maya hotkeys and features. i love this, makes my transition a lot easier! super happy i found this.
I didn't know there were similarities there. Thats handy to know, cheers!
The align pie is absolutely indispensable for me. Everyone should donate to the author.
Totally agree. It's a shame as if they did to begin with it would remain free for those that couldn't afford to pay. But it's still very cheap

@austinnutter3367 No problem man, it happens 😉
Thank you so much for making these videos. They have been the most the helpful for me of the many creators I have watched.
Cheerd Katy, really appreciated 😁👍🏻
These tools feel so indispensable that it's crazy to me that blender doesn't really have tools like this out of the box.
@@IMortalNemesisI Totally agree.
It is a great tool and you cover it well! That's why you are my favorite!
Thanks so much darkhorse 😁
Wow! Those are some really great tools indeed! Thanks for the video!
@artbybruno1734 My pleasure Bruno. Glad you found them interesting 😁

Totally right on all fronts I'd say. 👍🏻 It's a total bargain.
Super helpful condensing of what our do
I thought it would be handy as a summary. Felt a little bad not going through everything each function can do but that would take hours.
I'll probably upgrade to dues version just to support the devs. I love the addon.
I honestly think its really worth it just for the Group tool as well. Ive got a video on it here: ruclips.net/video/1RIK2Q7bSrk/видео.html
great vid! there are so many things to learn with add ons, its too much lol
Haha. Yeah there is a lot to learn, especially with an addon thag does so much like this.

Thanks for the VID. Don't think I could ever get used to 1 2 & 3 not switching between modes after all this time.
That's understandable. You can always just change the keybinding to different numbers/keys
@@ArtisansofVaul True! I'll have to play around with some new binds.
I had some hesitation initially but the tab+mouse swipe is faster.
@acadgatsu I was the same at first but it really does make things faster.
Have you heard anything about the Hyper Cusor and when it is coming out?
I have and it looks AMAZING. No idea when it's being released though. You can try where it's up to on Machin3s Patreon.
