      daniel letterman can you refute the mans science ? You can criticize is Christianity sure go ahead. But his actual studies lets hear your argument please. Human beings I have found are amazingly adept at explaining away evidence they don’t want to believe in. That’s why we have Holocaust deniers, Moon Landing conspiracies, Flat Earther’s and of course Atheists.

      daniel letterman still waiting , can you refute the guys science ?

    • @user-ig7nq7pc7k
      @user-ig7nq7pc7k 4 года назад +4

      @daniel letterman First off, the "Earth was created in 6 (human) days" is a belief mostly held by a type of Christianity called "Fundamentalism." It is often upheld by critics as a "straw man" - an example of what ALL or even MOST Christians think. You should read the book "A History of God." It explores the history of such ideas and how they developed in reaction to early Darwinism. Remember that when Darwin developed his theory, cellular science was barely in its infancy. Nothing was known about cell structure or DNA.
      Back to my first point; even the ancient Jews debated the length of time of Creation,; there is a Scripture that says "To God a day is like a thousand (human) years." Notice it says LIKE here - not "IS" - so even this is an imprecise measurement not to be taken literally. It is meant to show comparison between something very small and something very large, and it accomplishes this task - far before more scientific understandings of time and space.
      I encourage you to do more open-ended inquiry into these things. You might be surprised at what you learn.
      Second, since my initial comment I have gotten to know James Tour. Not as a close friend, but as an acquaintance. As such he is among the most conscientious, precise and ethical people I know. Put in street vernacular, he is one of a handful of people I would trust to hold a rope if I were over a cliff. I sincerely wish there were more like him in the world.
      And finally, you would do well to explore the criticisms of Darwin's theory with an equal zeal to your criticism of Deism. Critics like Berlinski, Meyer and Behe offer important information not just "questioning" Darwin's theory but presenting solid evidence on multiple fronts that make Darwin's theory seem implausible to downright impossible.
      I believe that's all I can add to this discussion at this time. Thank you.

      daniel letterman so basically you’re just criticizing his religion. You can’t refute his science . You should watch his videos where he doesn’t mention religion at all. It’s extremely interesting.

    One question that was brought up during Jim's talk was the fact that there was no sun until the fourth day of creation. This is a day after the plants and vegetation in general were created. I just wanted to point out, for those who may be interested, that God IS light. In the beginning God Himself gave light from Himself so there was no need for the sun. The earth had not yet been subjected to sin and it's consequences and the Bible clearly states that God walked with Adam, physically. There was, as yet, no reason for God to be cautious of His light since creation would not be adversely effected by the power and purity of His brightness, though it would be now. This will happen again when we live in the New Jerusalem when God again will dwell amongst His people and will be our sun. There will be no more darkness at all.

      Jesus said. “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12 NIV). Jesus “was the light of all mankind” (John 1:4 NIV) and God has gifted us as “children of the light” (John 12:36 NIV) to carry the Light of Christ into a world filled with darkness. “You are the light of the world…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matt 5:14-16 NIV).

      daniel letterman trash talk disproves God how exactly ?

    • @kaufmanat1
      @kaufmanat1 4 года назад

      @daniel letterman the universe is big. It's really big. We have observed nothing in the universe that approaches the phenomenal complexity and intricacy of the human brain, billions of neurons forming trillions of neuronal connections interacting via action potentials and neurochemicals and this activity giving rise to a rational autonomousmind which can interact with other minds which, when brought together, give rise to tremendously complex civilizations...
      Religion notwithstanding, you have your head in the sand if you fail to recognize that we are the most phenomenally complex machine we have ever observed. Familiarity breeds contempt apparently. Your nihilism might be easier to swallow if you believe humans are just inconsequential ants compared to the scope of the universe, but you're deluding yourself if you can look at the simple nuclear fusion of stars and believe it to be something more significant than the complex chemical interactions of star dust that sustains humans.

    • @kaufmanat1
      @kaufmanat1 4 года назад

      @daniel letterman I strongly agree with your last sentence.
      I agree with a lot of why you're saying. I will say sometimes I think people take life's complexity for granted because they observe it all around them therefore it must not be a big deal.
      Life is is a phenomenon. By all accounts it should not have randomly sprung into existence. But here it is. To me it is far more impressive than the life cycles of stars, pulsars, black holes, neutron stars, background radiation... Maybe not as interesting, but more impressive.
      To assume we (humans) are the telos of the universe is Arrogant. I agree. To assume some anthropomorphic entity made us is as silly as a character in a video game assuming it was made by a supercomputer. A software program is so fundamentally different from a human so as to render genuine comparisons absurd.
      There's no reason to assume we are the "acme" of creation. We also Haven't seen any evidence of the existence of any sort of super race in the universe. The only reason we assume it has to be out there is because "we exist, therefore there ought to be more like us".
      It's not that we assume we are special. It's that we are the most incredible thing we've observed, but like you said, a microchip to anyone else looks like an odd metal spec covered in small patterns... How many things are out there that we simply can't see? God only knows. But the lack of any discernable patterns anywhere in the universe is disconcerting.

      @@BibleResearchTools evolution is supported by empirical evidence, I can’t tell if it’s a fact or not but there is plenty of evidence from fossils from vestigial structures and all makes sense. With that in mind the theory is formulated and now those who think it’s wrong should prove it’s wrong. If the theory is wrong it can be proven by evidence because it’s not like a religion based on all sorts of hypotheses that are impossible to test like: what happens after death?, god is everywhere but can’t be detected by any means, god is all powerful. Actually some of the religious claims are clearly wrong, like “God is all loving” but he looks at children suffering, he can help but he won’t because what? The average suffering over the world and over time would increase?! If I see a child suffering hard and I can do something, I can also say maybe it’s better to let it suffer because I may increase the suffering in the world in the future 😒 and if I don’t do anything it’s better because actually god makes the world with minimum suffering possible. But why the child deserves to suffer and other children don’t? What does God compensate for the suffering in heaven? You will remember the past and suffering forever? Everything is utter nonsense, there is no justice just rough nature, nobody deserves suffering, everybody deserves to be born intelligent and be beautiful and to have optimum education but it doesn’t happen because nobody cares, other than we humans or animals some care too, it’s just nature

Why was people like Daniel and the three Hebrew children blessed among kings like Nebuchadnezzar ??????? I believe this is how they lived so that the king had no hurt . These Hebrews lived Proverbs 3: 3-4 because they loved the Lord and the kings of their time knew they could be trusted , so much so that they were set over the affairs of their kingdoms and became great consultants to the kings . Watch maker argument?
    If you find a watch in the desert would you assume it’s made by a designer or it just self assembled itself or it was just there from the beginning of the universe.
    We know how a watch is made and we would assume a designer but that’s an assumption and it can’t even be applied for any complex thing you find somewhere but let’s say I agree all complex things require a designer
    Now let’s assume something complex that looks like a robot that besides it’s mechanical complexity it is much more complex and it has an intelligent mind. If you find such a thing in the desert would you assume it’s made by an intelligent designer or it assembled itself or it was there from the beginning of the Universe, or it evolved from a simple machine? It’s made by an intelligent designer, right?
    Then if God is complex and intelligent it’s also made by a designer? No, it’s there from the beginning of time. So you accept a complex and intelligent being existing since the beginning of time but you can’t accept some simple lifeform being there since the beginning and the reason you don’t is because it’s too complex.
    Religion is invented so they can judge people and hate people that don’t follow all the rules of the club, or are not in the club, like atheists

    You'd think a guy as smart as Dr. Tour would be able to fathom that Genesis 1 logically had to be referencing normal days with evenings and mornings, etc. He even hinted at the time/light difference in universe expansion (from point of origination to edge), which necessitate's an enormous time difference between the two. Also, Jesus Christ confirmed the 24-hour-day creation. Since He did all the creating, He ought to know, don't you think?

      Could it possibly be that you might be wrong? I was in the YEC camp for 12 years till I started diving into scripture and science. I was taught a YEC position, and also that if you didn’t hold to it, you would be discounting the inherent Word of God. After further study of both, I feel both they both teach an old earth position. This is not a salvation issue, but when you look at virtually all of the most prominent Christian apologist and scientists that are Christians have an old earth position. That in itself is not a reason to change your position but it should prompt you to study. Not just listen to the Ken Hams and Kent Hovinds of the world that hold to their presuppositions. Science and the Bible are in harmony, no mental gymnastics necessary. And Jerimiah the Bible states that the laws that govern in the universe are fixed. Good luck with your studies.

      Genesis 1:1 is the creation of EVERYTHING time, space & matter.
      Prior to Genesis 1:1 there was just [the] God [Head].
      God is eternal. He has no beginning. He has no end. He does not change. He does not live inside of time, but He can move in and out of time freely, just like a automotive design engineer can get into and out of the vehicle he designed.
      God technically has no size limit. He is BEYOND humungous because He is eternity. He holds the entirety of existence in the small part of His hand.
      If this is God, how can anyone say that He is limited to have only created the earth 6,000 years ago?
      How do dinosaurs which He also created decompose and decay into fossil fuels in only 6,000 years?

If this is God, how can anyone say that He is limited to have only created the earth 6,000 years ago?"
      God did.
      God said it. Later he expounded that point:
      _"Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." -- Exo 20:9-11 KJV_
      By the way, God created the angels prior to the creation of the earth, because they were with God on the day he created the earth:
      _"Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding . . . When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?" -- Job 38:4,7 KJV_
      The Greek Old Testament (the LXX or Septuagint,) that was translated from the Hebrew about 200-300 B.C., identifies those "sons of God" as angels:
      _"Where wast thou when I founded the earth? tell me now, if thou hast knowledge . . . When the stars were made, all my angels praised me with a loud voice." -- Job 38:4,7 LXX_
      ==========================
      SOULSafeProductionZ, you wrote, "How do dinosaurs which He also created decompose and decay into fossil fuels in only 6,000 years?"
      Oil can be created rapidly. Besides, it is doubtful that oil came only from dinosaurs, but rather from the huge quantity of organic material buried in the sedimentary rock layers. Most coal seams were formed out of tree bark.
      There is more to the story. The late Thomas Gold, a Cornell scientist, claimed in 1992 that oil was possibly being replenished by deep earth biological molecules. Here he describes the molecules:
      _"The remains of bacteria in the form of molecules -"hopanoids" (derived from hopanes) - a material coming from bacterial cell walls, have however been found in all of the several hundred samples of oil, coal, and kerogen (distributed carbonaceous material in the crust) examined by Ourisson et al. (7). These authors note the widespread or apparently ubiquitous presence of these molecules in the sedimentary rocks, and they give an estimate of the total quantity as of the order of 10^13 or 10^14 tons, more than the estimated 10^12 tons of organic carbon in all living organisms on or near the surface. They also note the virtually identical pattern of the chromatogram of these molecules in oil and in coal. Further they note that some of the molecules most commonly used to identify the presence of biological material in petroleum, such as pristane and phytane, are not necessarily derived from plant chlorophyll as is commonly believed, but could well be products of the same bacterial cultures as those that gave rise to the hopanoids. The presence of these biomolecules can therefore not be taken to prove a derivation of the bulk substance from surface biological debris." [Thomas Gold, "The Deep Hot Biosphere." Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Vol.89, No.13; July, 1992, p.6046]_
      www.pnas.org/content/89/13/6045
      This is from a 1999 Washington Post article on Gold's astonishing claim about oil replenishment:
      _"As far out as all this may sound, in the years since Gold first noised the outlines of his theory, researchers throughout the world have documented extensively the presence of active microbes in the deep Earth under conditions of heat and pressure once thought impossible to sustain life."_

      _"Furthermore, some oil reservoirs long thought exhausted now appear to be mysteriously refilling. Gold considers the best proof of his program the extraction of 12 tons of crude oil in 1990 from a 6-kilometer-deep well drilled in the long-presumed oil-free granite of central Sweden."_
      [Ken Ringle, "A Scientific Heretic Delves Beneath the Surface." Washington Post, Nov 1, 1999]

      www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/style/features/daily/heretic110199.htm
      In 2017 an NAS followup study implied Gold got it right:
      _"Twenty-five years ago this month, Thomas Gold published a seminal manuscript suggesting the presence of a"deep, hot biosphere" in the Earth's crust. Since this publication, a considerable amount of attention has been given to the study of deep biospheres, their role in geochemical cycles, and their potential to inform on the origin of life and its potential outside of Earth. Overwhelming evidence now supports the presence of a deep biosphere ubiquitously distributed on Earth in both terrestrial and marine settings. Furthermore, it has become apparent that much of this life is dependent on lithogenically sourced high-energy compounds to sustain productivity. A vast diversity of uncultivated microorganisms has been detected in subsurface environments, and we show that H2, CH4, and CO feature prominently in many of their predicted metabolisms." [Colman et al, "The Deep, Hot Biosphere: Twenty-five years of retrospection." Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Vol.147, No.27; July 3, 2017, p.6895]_

      Scientists claim that there has to be an uncaused first cause or an unmoved mover. The debate is was it something like a vacuum or was it a someone such as a God. It could have been either it’s a 50/50 chance.
      Just like we don’t know if there are an even number of stars in the galaxy or an odd number. I agree that Cosmology is not science. Apparently so does Astronomer James Gunn of Princeton:
      _"*Cosmology may look like a science, but it isn't a science,*" says James Gunn of Princeton University, co-founder of the Sloan survey. "A basic tenet of science is that you can do repeatable experiments, and you can't do that in cosmology." Others don't see the problem. "So far, the fact that we can only see one Hubble volume has not been an impediment to understanding the origin and evolution of the universe," [Cosmologist Michael] Turner says. Some note that cosmic variance will limit measurement of only the very largest features of the universe and that studying the myriad smaller bumps and wiggles may be more revealing anyway."_
      _"Even so, all agree that cosmic variance highlights a definite limit to what cosmology can tell us. "The goal of physics is to understand the basic dynamics of the universe," Turner says. "Cosmology is a little different. The goal is to reconstruct the history of the universe." Cosmology is more akin to evolutionary biology or geology, he says, in which researchers must simply accept some facts as given."_
