The speculations of this man go against all we have learned
about the natural world. Either overthrow everything we think we have learned
about modern physics, or distrust the stew of religious accounts/unreliable
testimony/wishful thinking that makes people believe in the possibility of life
after death. It’s not a difficult decision, as scientific theory-choice goes.

You do not predominantly disagree with me, but with every physicist out there. In particular, with one of the
conclusions from a model, which is proven beyond any reasonable doubt. That’s
not live in general, that’s the life you choose. Good luck with that.

What an elegant and well-balanced presentation of one’s story. Dr Tour did a holistic discussion without putting down any of the mundane isms and let the Lord percolate through his speech. I am a Trauma & Orthopaedic surgeon, have not had the opportunity to be long hours in the lab……but the little science I know helps me worship my God. God bless Dr Tour and the calling on his life.

I am a simple man and humble knowing I can only understand a small portion of Dr. Tour’s thoughts, ambition and drive. The one thing I can say I share with Dr. Tour is Faith in Christ. I am a police officer and I often have allowed myself to be discouraged by the more human elements I am exposed to in my everyday work and criticism in our society. When I learned of Dr. Tour and his journey especially compelling being Jewish from Brooklyn, I strive to look into my own heart and my anger is starting to transform into something better. So along with all the scientific accomplishments, degrees and titles, respect and continuing success, add yet another re-energized inspired spirit to that list. Christ may be the conductor in that element but Dr. Tour is the vehicle or tool if you will and I am thankful.

On the reply that, “You shouldn’t say evolution is wrong until you have something to replace it with,” let me put this to bed with an analogy.
You suspect that you may be adopted. You get a blood test and find out the blood type of yourself and the two people who have claimed to be your parents. You examine blood type possibilities and find out there is no way either of them could be your parent. You confront them. If they replied, “You cannot call us liars based on refuting it with blood types. First you have to find your supposed real parents. Otherwise you have to accept that we are your biological parents as we told you.”
See. Nonsense. Evolution as it has been presented is wrong. Period. There may be a progression of lifeforms throughput the history of life, but it does not work through natural selection and random mutation over time. Some other innovative, creative, cognitive application is interjecting itself into biological processes. It appears to be tied to the epigentic information apart from the DNA code, with software dictating coded instructions throughout the organism throughout its lifetime, with body plan information, coded information for instincts (turtles and salmon returning to their spawning points) and other mechanisms.
These functions will all require some cognitive, problem solving, intellectual aspects. Thus, Mind is involved, not just matter.
And as Dawkins once said that “Darwin made it intellectually satisfying to be an atheist”, we must now state that atheism is no longer intellectually satisfying. It fails to account for the evidence.

    • @CandidDate
      @CandidDate 5 лет назад +3

This progression may be completely illusory. From simple to complex is the crux of the lie. In my opinion, there is only one way to build life, being a form with 5 fingers, 2 lower arm bones, and 1 upper arm bone. Just because God uses a similar pattern doesn't mean the species are related morphologically, it means there is only one way to build life on Earth and it's environment. There was a plan. My guess is we are in a hyper-quantum energy computer simulation with at least one designer.

"I wish I knew what you know...". What a humble, nice remark of an ambition that exists in many, and the driving force behind a great deal of human effort. We would certainly grow exponentially in appreciation of God, and I wonder if those who knowing much and can't seem to appreciate God necessarily end up worshiping something/someone else, because it is just an unavoidable response (i.e. worshipping nature, man, science, and so on). That would imply a choice.

Speaking of mosquitos, did you know that the proboscis they use for sucking blood is the same design on both males and females, but only the female actually sucks blood. The male uses his to get sap from vascular plant stems.
The female needs the extra nutrients likely for developing her eggs. But the point I am making is that in a world where sin had not entered, perhaps the animal kingdom was able to survive off of the plants. Scripture suggests that this is the case in Eden and that the environment wasnt fluctuating in seasons as we see today. Possibly providing more sustenance throughout the year for all creatures. Even those seemingly designed for nature, red in tooth and claw.

Christianity commands us to ask questions and investigate because you are asking God Himself in the uniqueness of what Jesus brought which is A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD by way of evidence based faith compared to other beliefs where there are minimal questions allowed, if any, blind faith. Your questions must not be mocking and wanting answers according to what you want to hear but seeking Truth. GOD BLESS

If the geologic column is a legit way to age the planet I wonder how that fits with the empirical data of deposition, erosion and uplift.
Measuring the areas today with the absolute least erosion and slowest uplift applied to the earth's entire surface would have erased said column 100+ times. And that's being way too generous regarding the speed at which any ancient bones would be erased. Why are there still fossils which are said to be 10s of millions of years old? Utterly impossible. I guess the key to the past is known from jack nuts about the present and measurable data we can verify over and over again.

As I study these issues further it is amazing how people draw the same conclusions through their own independent study, irrespective of one another. I agree with you whole-heartedly whiteliketar. I recently, at the request of a friend viewed and studied over 80 transitional fossils. These fossils all appeared to be just like one of the two species they supposedly connecting. I found there was just a slight variation from one to the other which could have been explained by micro-evolution even by a layman science mind. I then asked him for some examples of increased information in the genome across species and chemical properties that allowed for these changes, he became upset and told me to read a book that was about 10000 pages long.
I proceeded to ask this question why is it so easy to give a micro-evolutionary explanation, such as green and brown beetles on a tree and birds preying on the green beetles and after time there are a greater number of brown shelled beetles. However when asking for a simple explanation of macro-evolution the person you speak with gets flustered and angry and directs you to do so much reading that anyone living a normal life would never be able to complete it.
This actually reminds me of the Pharoah, no matter what God did he refused to bend his will to that of God, and we see the same thing in modern science. There are so many astronomically improbable events that had to occur with no explanation for life to exist but people dismiss it as chance and then ask for evidence to the contrary. Just mind blowing!

It is obvious how a nanotechnologist can make the jump from atheism to intelligent design. My question is how does one who becomes convinced of intelligent design make the jump to the conclusion: 'Jesus Christ is the Designer & the Bible is His word'? I mean if any Darwinist were to have the notion of evolution totally destroyed & creation upheld, that alone would not be sufficient to convince them of the Biblical gospel, but at best would leave them a deist. Intelligent design can at best leave you a deist but that alone cannot lead such a one to Christ without taking a further leap of faith. One still must believe that the designer is One not many and that Designer still interacts with His creation in supernatural ways He did not just set it in motion and lets it whirr or to run down nor did He choose to use intermediate creators such as angels or aliens. One still must believe that the Creator created mankind, the fall of mankind, the final judgment of mankind, the impossibility of self redemption & The deity who became man to Redeem mankind through His passion & His resurrection from the dead & ascension into Heaven. Hopefully also eternal security is part of the belief also. Yes perhaps the design can lead you to believe in a Creator or creators but then you still have more leaps of faith to get you saved.

All this started when Ronald Fisher wrote a book, The Genetically Theory of Natural Selection . As Darwinism was on it's death bed in the 1950's. Then Fisher takes Mendel's work on genetics. Used it to give Darwinism some credibility. Then they used that book. To get Darwinism into the class room. But not once can you get Darwinist to use Darwin's own work. It's called Scientific Pretension. It looked Scientific. Yet it's Mendelian Genetics they use. They just stick Darwin face on one page. Give him one page on his theory.. Then using slight of hand. Switch to Mendel's work on Genetics for the rest of your life. It's Deception they used to indoctrinate people.
This is why I'm agitated at Darwinist Claims. They should be praising the Father of Genetics.Mendel. But they can't. He happened to be a Monk. Believed in some Creator. Outside Agency. God that was directing it! David Berlinski has the same issues with Darwinist claims....

This seems like a cynical approach to history. Darwin presented an hypothesis of which the general story behind it was true even if Darwin was unable to understand it. The theory explodes later with the discovery of DNA and genetics. Science moves forward and the newest information is of more focus then incomplete theories of the past. Darwinian evolution was strengthened by these later discoveries so I don't see the slight of hand you refer to.

@@blusheep2 What part of Darwin's Hypotheses is true..I want the Mechanism that allows it. It better be Testable. Observable. Repeatable. ie the Scientific Method. It has to show the Universe has the traits to create Organic Matter from Non Organic Materials found in the Universe. Using only the four fundamental forces found in nature. So no Time. Chance. Random. As they are not physical forces that cause anything to happen. It also better be a purely Materialistic explanation that one can test. As it's been 80 years. Not any progress has been made using Darwinism. It's all Mendel's work we teach...
You better not bring up Mendelian Genetics once. And the second you brought up DNA and Genetics. You lost the argument. As that is Genetics at the Cellular level. As the cell Nucleolus is well protected from any changes you try an attempt. As it will abort and die. At best be born with defects.

Im not against certain elements of your response. I to am irritated when I file through a museum that shows ape to man as fact. I do not have a problem if they suggest that the best explanation is that these different fossils are related but when presented as fact I am irritated.
I have a healthy mistrust for scientists as they are human as well but if you suggest that there isn't evidence for evolution because abiogenesis is unexplained then I part with your cynicism. I find there to be challenges with the naturalistic model of evolution but not complete challenges. I don't find the theory defeated in any way but I do think its incomplete and in the way it is incomplete may be the path to its destruction.
You failed to really address by point that science "evolves" and new things are learned and that Darwin just began the story. If Darwin didn't get it all right, who cares? The point is that the foundations of evolution are still quite strong, if you like it or not. Even if the debate now resides in the genes and if natural selection looks weaker and weaker as a mechanism for change, it still is quite strong, there is still evidence for it.
All your questions about it are worthy questions but I don't think the lack of answers means it isn't true. We know a lot more now then in Darwin's day and we learn more every year. Certain aspects are far from our understanding and may well solidify a design conclusion or lead to another theory altogether but lack of knowledge doesn't mean its wrong. Its at least not enough to be cynical about it.
What you should be cynical about(and you kind of are) is there constant pressure to accept it as fact as they present it and their unwillingness to have an open mind towards competing ideas.

I agree with your "science of the gaps" argument. In fact, I'm quite pleased to see you use it. I usually have called it "atheist of the gaps" and so far, or until you, I am the only one I have ever heard use it. Naturalists hate when they turn their own techniques against them and expose them for the hypocrites they often are.
My point is not to bring in a "science of the gaps" argument. I am not saying the gaps "will" be filled with naturalistic evolution. I am saying that science is an on going process and pointing to the gaps is no more an argument for you as it is for them. At best we wait and see.
Also, historical sciences aren't the same as measuring the decay rate of an atom. Historical sciences aren't always repeatable. They are almost never observable. The evidence gives reason to infer the best explanation. Right now that IS evolution. We can't seriously be expected to test and repeat a mechanism that is theorized to take millions of years unless of course we wait millions of years.
So for now, if you like it or not there is quite a bit of evidence for an old earth and evolution. Is it enough to prove it? No! Is it enough to say something like it happened? Yes.
A point of science that you are ignoring is prediction which is a part of falsification. Not all science is decided by pure experiment and testability. Some of it(especially historical sciences) use prediction. For instance, evolution predicts that if evolution is true then the simplest creatures will be found in the oldest rock and as you move through the geologic record to the present the animal forms will become more and more complex. And this is exactly what we find. We can repeat that observation anywhere in the world we look therefore it is evidence of evolution. Could there be another explanation? Sure, but right now this is the best one. It would be improper to claim that the evidence doesn't exist.
I'm not upset with the theist presenting something as fact. No one is fooled into believing that the presentation doesn't come through faith in what they believe to be true. A theist is not a scientist. They are not held to the same standard. Its like the difference between a criminal case and a civil case. The standard of evidence is less. There is no hypocrisy in them. I can not say the same thing for the atheist or the scientist who place as their foundation the scientific method then violate it in plane site while denying that they are.
As long as you treat me with respect then I will do the same with you. I am not looking for a fight, but a discussion of thoughtful individuals that will take the conversation and think about the points made in their free time.
Most debates I get into, I do in hopes of simply building respect between opposing views. I'm horrified by how many refuse to do so. In the end everyone has the same problem to solve. The atheist/materialist must explain the origin of the universe and life and theists must explain the origin of God. Neither can answer with any certainty and so we all employ a little faith to fill the gap.
