Why You Hit The Ball Too High
Most of the amateurs I see hit the golf ball too high. This is from adding loft to your golf club at contact, this will hit shots too short and slice the golf ball. To lower your ball flight, you want to check some set up components and also some things during your golf swing to make sure that you are hitting the golf ball on the correct trajectory.
Make sure that your club face and grip are correct. Some golfers I see do have a weak grip and this adds loft to the golf club at contact. Other things that can make you hit the golf ball too high is from the chicken wing. This makes the hands drop behind the club head by contact and add loft making shots go too high.
Make sure you check some of these things the next time you practice. Some people add loft with too much weight going back when making contact with the golf ball. Try some of the things in this tip to get you releasing the golf club correctly and you can start to hit the golf ball better and longer into the future.

I like this guy. Best tutorial video I've found yet. I was struggling with loft and struggling to find some help. This marvelous instructor did the job! Thank you so so much!
Thanks so much. I appreciate the feedback and support.
These are such great tips. I have single handicap since 40 years and I find your tips very useful. Great stuff, thank you for sharing.
Glad you like them!
I did a combination of all these things before watching this. You have a great way of explaining what the body should be feeling. Subscribed
Thanks for the support. A lot of people hit it too high. Typically the chicken wing but as you see other stuff can make it happen too. Once you start lowering it you should hit it so much longer which will make it easier.
Same same.
I found my truly professor. Thank you sir!
Thanks so much. I appreciate the support. Lots of tips to watch. Basically you are doing a neutral grip. Not a bent over set up. Then hinging and rehinging the wrists. Coiling and uncoiling. Then turning your arms off completely in the down and through swing. Let me know if you have questions.
Great stuff Paul. I always try to keep your voice in my head as I walk up to the ball...best wishes from the UK.
Wow, thanks!
Paul, I check through all the steps and am still skying my irons. 33 degree 7 iron, 80 mph swing speed, 26 degrees launch angle and only carry 142 yards. Nice clean face strike, I just struggle to get that forward shaft lean without manipulating the club.
So you need to start rolling it from the top and get it hooking. If so you are delofting which will lower the flight and get you way more distance. Once you get used to that you start firing your lower body to straighten it out. It is that simple. Here:

Then do this after you can hook 10 in a row:

I would watch this too:

Are you supposed to move the body forward at contact relative to the setup position? Maybe this could be another contributor if hitting at the setup position. How far forward should I move?
Why would you be moving forward? If so you are going to top it and sky it. You need your whole body to tilt back as you hit it. Watch: ruclips.net/video/BzBgiUhyrB4/видео.html
@@paulwilsongolf I was referring to hips and left knee and if those move forward and how much? Thanks
Ahh, this should help: ruclips.net/video/Kk63_fYSAMg/видео.html
Another great 👍 tip Paul. Thanks 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it
Another great tip, thank you.
You bet!
How about with driver? It’s still carrying about 240 but if I take some of that height out I easily think itll be closer to 260-270 carry.
Just follow the tip. I would thing you are chicken winging the driver. Get rid of that and you get the right loft. Swing way way way looser and you will get it.
what would be the reasons for hitting the ball too low?
Yep: ruclips.net/video/BBOE0ZpAEZM/видео.html
May God bless you all
What is a good target launch angle for a 7 iron for mid/high handicap golfer?
use this as your guide: blog.trackmangolf.com/trackman-average-tour-stats/
I hit PW about 100-110 yard. It is normal ? I saw it is high too.
That's not too bad. If the ball is going too high you are most likely doing a chicken wing which is adding loft. Watch these:

@@paulwilsongolf Thank you very much! It really help a lot.
Paul I carry my 7 iron 160 yards fairly straight but it has 26.6 degree launch and 8600 spin. Do you think I am adding loft to the club?
I have a neutral grip, my clubface is neutral and my hands are pretty much at the ball or slightly in front.
Yep, seems too high with too much spin. Here is where you can compare to tour players numbers blog.trackmangolf.com/trackman-average-tour-stats/
So go through the list of other thing to find out what you are doing wrong. I would think you have a chicken wing and too much weight on the back foot through impact.
