Lounges are one of those things I think I don't need and then I'm happy I have access I do need them. I've done a few longer term trips in the last year (due to quarantine restrictions) and it's just one less thing to think of the day you leave your apartment for 3+ weeks "oh I don't have to worry about food I can just empty my fridge the day before and eat at the lounge". Same thing when you're on weird or awkward layovers having lounge access just opens up more possibilities.
Love the lounge experience reviews! I have been considering getting the platinum at some point, so it's nice to see what you actually get with the travel perks! Thanks Sebby
just changed my card strategy. now im going with: Citi Premier - 3x gas, groceries, & hotels Sapphire Pref - 3x dining, streaming, & 2x flights Andrews VS - 3x walmart, 1.5x anything else Discover Miles - 1.5x back up have other cards, but only those make it into Doc's wallet.
The Salt Lake City sky club is my home airport, so that’s pretty much where I spent the majority of my time. I enjoy it, but like you said it’s probably more because it’s new. Spent some time in Boston’s sky club, pretty good food and was not as full as I expected. In my opinion, sky clubs in centurion clubs are still better than sitting out in a crowd at airport :-)
I got my Lounge access at the beginning of Covid so I havent been able to take advantage of it. I'll be Checking out The Sky Club in Salt Lake next month. I moved out of Utah before they finished the new airport so im looking forward to seeing everything.
Just visited (early Sept) SEA Centurion and LAS Centurion lounges - both are back to full buffet style and no restricted seating. Only had food in SEA, which was decent (breakfast included a veggie fritata, blueberry chia seed pudding, and orange + some vegetable shooter), but not as good as my go-to paid option (Floret has amazing avocado toast). LAS is huge and the food looked good, but I had already ate that morning via my FHR breakfast credit. I'm lucky to have SEA as my home airport, so love the lounge option.

Got into the Centurion Lounge in Seattle. Good food, decent drink (non-alcoholic) and pretty good seating. Still pretty reticent to dine in a room with others during Covid.
Houston is my home Centurion Lounge the service is excellent. The food, the drinks and the ability to not deal with a crowded terminal the Platinum Card is a must for me.
DFW Centurion lounge still serves you the buffet but you can hang out. Also the spa is closed still but reopening in 2 weeks. I was there yesterday so this is up to date info.
Why I think lounge access isn’t worth it: who actually plans to be in the airport long enough to enjoy spending time in the lounge (arriving early or long layover)
@@benchoflemons398 - I understand these cards primarily benefit frequent flyers. I personally avoid layovers unless it’s a long haul flight. If long haul (which I limit to a few/year), lounge will come in handy. Otherwise , if a layover is unavoidable (I’m in a midsized city), I limit to 1 hour. I also get to the airport no more than 45 min-1hr, given I have status and TSA pre-check to speed me through lines. But seriously, if you’re in the airport that often to get frequent flyer status and plan to have long layovers or arrive hours early to enjoy the lounge, I’m trying to find out how I can get as much disposable time in my day that I can afford using up that much time.
Love it! I’m almost done with my Chase trifecta and just recently got the platinum! I love it so far and can’t wait to use the lounge/travel benefits! I have absolutely loved my credit card journey and definitely thank you for help when I was starting off!
Just applied for a Chase Sapphire Preferred card last night, let’s see if I get approved. No relationship with Chase rn but they emailed me a pre-approved offer for a CSR card (it was just too much for me so I went CSP instead).
Good to know about SLC and IAH Sky Clubs. Mid-pandemic the Sky Club at DCA was a very light buffet but still a nice location. The Sky Clubs at ATL and DTW (mid-pandemic) had limited food options, but were fair. I am hoping things improve eventually. My Card are Gold, Platinum, CSP, and WOH. I just finished getting the $15K free weekend night from my Surpass card so it will only be used as my gas card (when not staying at a Hilton of course).
recently used both the JFK and PHX Centurion lounges, and everything was normal and lovely! Way worth it to be in a lounge over general boarding area during COVID times....
My lounge experience has been varied. In my first experience in a lounge I actually did meet a celebrity so that spoiled me for future lounge visits. I found that lounges were much easier to go to before we had children but since we now have children I don’t really have time to take advantage of these benefits. Also don’t want to be “that guy” whose children destroy a lounge. Once my kids are older and a little better behaved I may start going back to lounges again.
just started watching your channel after i got an amex gold for a month, you got a like and sub just off you saying you took a trip in houston. much love
I'd love to check out these lounges, but I rarely fly out of state and the one city I do fly out of has an Alaska Airlines lounge which looks alright at best.
Traveled internationally a couple times this summer going through Istanbul. Really enjoyed being able to use the Turkish Airways lounge in Istanbul, which is one of my favorites-great food there! The United Club membership through the Chase United Club Infinite Visa card gives you access to all Star Alliance lounges worldwide while I’m working on my Star Alliance Gold Status. I really like that about the United card as opposed to the Amex Delta Reserve/Platinum cards where you only get access to Delta lounges.
Man, if you drink alcohol (as many do) and have just a couple of drinks at the centurion lounges (actual cocktails though their beer and wine is also very good) that is easily $30-40. These valuations are quite personalized. In general, if you do more than 5 flights a year it’s more than worth it.
Travel credit cards with flexible currencies are the best overall cards to have regardless if you travel or not! My wallet didn't change at all even when on lockdown!
I loved the PHX Centurion lounge. SeaTac Centurions lounge was small, dirty, and too crowded when I went. The Alaska lounge in Sea Tac is the better way to go for sure!
Same for me, cards have not changed much since the start of COVID. Started traveling and TG for lounges. Still worth it, been to some you have gone to as well but Denver just opened there Centurion and the United clubs there too are good. Dallas and Houston are good but IAD is not great when it comes to clubs so that is sad. All in all still worth it to get a break and get out from all the groups plus you still have better bathrooms too.
I’m literally binge watching your channel! Love all the content so far! So far in my wallet I am sporting a AMEX Gold card because I’m a foodie and love eating out and actually just picked up Apple credit card for the cash back on gas! Living in LA, I need as much help as possible!
I have an American Express Gold card and a Chase Freedom Unlimited Visa. Going to spend some time cleaning up my credit score a bit and paying off some debt. Next year I want to upgrade the Freedom Unlimited Visa to a Chase Sapphire Reserve Visa Infinite card.
Since I just have the Amex Delta Platinum the Sky Club access is $39.00 per person. I normally can't justify that expense especially with a short layover and with my wife traveling with me. Recently however we had to be at O'hare a few hours before our flight and I went ahead and spent the $78.00 for my wife and I. Still not a good value but 5 hours later because of a flight delay we were very happy we were in the lounge. The food was very good and while a bit crowded was a much better experience than sitting at the terminal. Value can be measured in different ways and in this case, we felt the money was well spent.
Not sure if I’m the only one but have not yet made it into the centurion lounge There was a 1 hour wait to get into the one in Charlotte. Same in Phoenix and then it closed while I was on the waiting list.
Hi Sebby Just got back from vacation Tampa to Boston tampa airport lounge they gave us (2) $25.00 coupons for a restaurant to have breakfast it was great. The Boston lounge was also okay
My home airport is LAX so no lounges for me. My wallet has Amex gold, Chase sapphire, AirFrance Mastercard and a bunch of order cards not worth mentioning
Hi sebby I was wondering should I get the chase freedom flex now or wait till it's closer to black Friday. I'm planning on buying a gaming chair and mainly want to use the flex for the intro offer. Will the offer get better towards holidays. Pretty new to credit cards I just got the amex blue cash preferred.
The food is what usually makes the American Express platinum card worth it for me. When I go to airport lounges, I usually eat a good amount. When I don’t go to the lounge because I have family with me or something, the food in the airport is so expensive. So after two or three trips a year, I’ve already eaten my whole American can express annual fee just in food and coffee in the airport LOL totally worth it.
So this is our first time going into a Delta lounge we are sky mile members and also American Express platinum sky Miles card holders is there a charge for us to go into this lounge and if I want to bring my two adult children is there a charge for them as well? will be going to Seattle to Orlando how do I do this?
Looks like Delta Lounge offers much better food than United Club. How do Delta Lounges compare to Amex Centurion lounges? Thinking about getting Amex Platinum next year so I’m curious.
Great video thanks for sharing. my wallet, Amex Gold, Amex Blue Business plus, Amex Gold Business, Amex green, & Amex Hilton Surpass. And For those retailers who aren’t on board with Amex I use the Citi double cash and or the Quick silver card. And the Citi Costco card.
I rarely get to maximize lounge use, they're usually in another terminal or our timing getting to the Airport and take off is in a sweet spot where it doesn't make sense.
I like lounge access for international flights. Otherwise, it's not worth it for me when the layover is less than a couple of hours. Also I think there is plenty of food in Business Class and eating in the lounge is also not necessary.
Sebby...can you please list the cards. Was easier when you showed them but I get that the issuers are trippin'. Keep losing track. So please place a list in the description or something. Thank you. 😊

Airport Lounges are worth it, but wow it so depends on what your flying/terminal your in. My last 4 out of 6 flights didn't have a lounge connected for the Amex/Priority pass. (ie Delta out of LGA for one but i had 1+3 people and paying for 3 is not worth it. )

I like sitting at that table in IAH Centurion. I miss flying from there, hopefully Amex builds a Centurion lounge in Austin someday.
My family loved the Salt Lake City Delta lounge in July this year as we also had a layover there. Biggest lounge we’ve ever seen!
Loved it! Felt more like an international lounge vs regular SkyClub.
