Boba Fett yea I’m not contributing to games that are chopped up and served to the consumers in bits. You do that it’s another thing that will become the norm!
@9:19 the Hitman gameplay structure is fine and all but they should bring back the cash system of Blood Money because that gave players more freedom. I feel that is the only sticking point holding the modern Hitman games back, and probably is the only thing keeping it from being a literally perfect game
The cash system really drives home the Hitman part. For someone who didn't play for the story, it was awesome to complete a contract, get paid, buy weapons, and repeat.
@@ryanc2696 yeah exactly, you feel like your killing targets for something in return rather than it being just because someone has said so, but at the same time it's still good without the cash system for its wide range of executions which make it the best of the best for replayabillity and any game that can master the Replayabillity in my opinion is the best and it's the best for value, I mean right now I am still on the first mission because I am taking my sweet time in mastering it
I'm more excited for the next instalment tbh. They can improve only so much between the seasons. It's essentially still the same game plagued by Square Enix decisions.

In case anyone was wondering. Hitman 1 released episodically right? After season 1, square dropped IOI and for a while, we weren’t sure there was ever going to even BE a season 2. Thankfully, WB picked them up and we got a season 2 in the form of HM2. By doing as a separate game, they were able to improve on some of the visuals and not be constrained to the engine of the first game. And because it is not being released episodically this time around, you are actually paying the same price as the last game. On the last game, you could buy the game out right and get the new levels as the least common, or you could buy them individually for $15 each. I ended up buying them individually because I did not have enough money for the full game of the time but by not having that option this time around overall I’ve gone in saving $30 this way. And by allowing the holder levels to be played with the new system, it’s almost like two games in won. I’m having more fun going back and playing the legacy missions again that I am doing the new stuff. Oh, if you play through the legacy missions you still earn XP and mastery points to unlock weapons and gadgets that would make the second season easier once you get to it since you have more toys to play with. Looking forward to that first ET.
I don't know why but I feel doors in hitman are an important mechanic and part of the stealth and they've never truly been fleshed out well. Knocking on a door or actually using the handle would be nice instead of every door in the game being double hinged push & pull with the bat of the hand. Using surfaces and walls as weapons to knock people out should also be something you can do (noise permitting or not as the case may be) You should be able to gum up locks or break them to provide hinderance for your enemies while you find an alternate escape route. Perhaps you could use the light from underneath doors to take shots through thin materials or something to that effect. He is a highly skilled, atune killing machine, he notices more than every other dude with a gun and that what makes him an effective weapon of death and subterfuge. I feel like if he had some autistic level knack for using these details to kill people it would seem more nuanced than "kill dude, hide body, disappear." Which has very much been the primary core of the game since its inception. I've played the hitman games since ps2, and they were great, but this level of gameplay doesn't feel deep enough to warrant me buying for the PS4.
If you like the game go buy it, if it made a success there gonna be season3 and you can ask for all of that and they might add (no they’re actually going to add). I wish for the human shield and all what you just said and I didn’t find it in this game, still bought the gold addition to enjoy what have now and give them money to make a new game with higher budget and higher everything. Not buying a game for your reasons is stupid
The only thing I really miss is the blood spatter from the old titles. I noticed it the other day while playing Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, and it really lent weight to feeling like you actually blew someone's brains out.
That Freedom Fighters arcade cabinet. Maaaaaaan... I really hope IO re-release that game now that they own the IP again. I love Hitman, but Freedom Fighters will always hold a special place in my heart.

OMG the lighting in the outro at the beach and overall sharpness of the picture in this video in 4K is absolutely striking! Question, on which platform/ console or was it PC did you actually record it from ACG?
What I really want is the ability to actually interact with npc’s and targets and actually type out statements and make conversation with targets to try and lure them out of a crowded area
Pros: Bigger maps, new ''location'' feature really helps when getting around. Cons: Downgrade in textures, special effects and graphics overall, ''cutscenes that are frozen images over sound, a little bit more glitches than the last.
How is the DRM? My biggest complaint about “season 1” is the always online requirement. Did they remove it for the sequel? Not a big issue for me right now, but in my previous location I did experience regular disconnects.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the game is still using the same 'client' as Hitman 2016 which DID at launch have the bullshit always online or no-play DRM, but it was eventually patched after they got ditched by Square Enix, so it still has online features but doesn't really get in the way of things too much. Saving can be done locally (I believe) and it no longer pulls you out of the game experience when you lose connection to the servers. Haven't gotten around to buying Hitman 2 yet, so take my words with a pinch of salt.
Interesting. Well, first experience with Hitman1 was right after IO went independent, and refunded the game as I encountered regular disconnects and eventually game servers crashed and it was impossible for me to play and progress the game (unlock various challenges). I haven’t had any issues now when I re-bought hitman1 about a month ago, so it might either due to patches or a much more stable internet connection. I know they added ability to play offline with unlocks but I am not sure if it’s possible to progress map exploration while offline. I might test it, as I have hitman1 on my disc.
@@wormerine8029 I bought the game about a year ago & I didn't experience any of the issues that you have described here, though I generally have a stable connection (with occasional dropouts due to something internal with my PC) so I can't honestly tell you if there will be problems. Hope it turns out alright for you, Hitman 2016 is a super enjoyable game, minus the occasional "reconnecting to servers" shit that pops up.

I like how this games like a hybrid of Blood Money & Absolution! You can be stealthy like in Blood Money! Or go in guns blazing like Absolution! But the special contracts are a great edition.. I just wish games with special events didn't have the special events go away! Like the special contracts or like The Raids in The Division! They could keep games alive longer by doing that..
The last 3 missions where they are sniper missions. That really pissed me off. I fell like it would of been better if it had that same sniper mode, with the normal campaign.
Quite enjoyed Hitman 2016 after they released the entire game. This looks nice, good thing they got rid of the episodic format, now if only they could get rid of Denuvo, got kicked out more than a few times in the first one because of it.
Okay, I’ve never understood everyone’s problem with the episodic release. It encouraged completionism in each level. Not only that, plenty of people wanted the game early and the devs decided to appease them but episodically was the only way they could do that. What was the problem?
The problem was that you finished the level how many times and then for a month you had nothing else to do with the game, while expecting them to still be invested enough to buy the new one. It's no wonder each consecutive episode sales tanked hard.
Just picked up the first game during the last sale and I am loving it, so much to do and a high skill ceiling once if you want to do the one off missions, or the hard missions. I haven't even touched what appears to be user made missions. I'm glad they combined the first and second game, I love it when that happens so I don't need to jump around games (and especially if they update the old one with new stuff). I'll be getting this once I am done the first!
Amazing sandbox stage design, stylish graphics design and wonderfully created living worlds to play in, not to mention a genuine James Bond movie feel, this is what a Hitman experience is like.
I wasn’t really going to get it now because it plays just like the the previous one, but your reviews are ALWAYS on point so I’ll be picking it up. Question: you gave me the idea that when I buy it, it actually will download the new Hitman 2 episodes, not a new game. Is that right?
Now that we have Hitman 2 we really love it, but... even if you got all the old mastery on the Hitman 1 levels it doesn't carry over. That means you've got to get all of it again.
My friend and I have been arguing over what "never touch" means in your reviews. I think it means you buy the digital version because that way you never touch a physical copy. My friend thinks it means that you have someone else put the disc in the system so you never have to touch the game disc. Who is right?
@@jaquan541 Like if you are at a game store and have the copy of the physical game in your hand and think to yourself "I'm not going to buy this," but then the lady that owns the store yells "you touch, you buy!" That's such a poor argument like holy crap! All those features you mentioned while it would be cool to have absolutely does not fucking break or make the game in any freaking way. There has always been something satisfying and exhilarating when it comes to the Hitman games ever since the original came out way back in 2000. Changes and refinements have been made over the years and I've enjoyed each and every entry in the series for the most part. Hitman Absolution was the first entry in the series that allowed the player to eliminate enemies in the most creative ways possible and it looks like Hitman 2 continues that trend. The game looks like it's really enjoyable and challenging, which is fine with me. Thanks Karak for another thorough and honest review. I really appreciate it!

Boba Fett yea I’m not contributing to games that are chopped up and served to the consumers in bits. You do that it’s another thing that will become the norm!
2016 Hitman was my GOTY last year (so underrated and overlooked) so I’m excited to get this

@Mi Ke It's been complete for like a year now man. You're far behind.

Well said sir
@9:19 the Hitman gameplay structure is fine and all but they should bring back the cash system of Blood Money because that gave players more freedom. I feel that is the only sticking point holding the modern Hitman games back, and probably is the only thing keeping it from being a literally perfect game
The cash system really drives home the Hitman part. For someone who didn't play for the story, it was awesome to complete a contract, get paid, buy weapons, and repeat.
Loved blood money.
Amen
@@ryanc2696 yeah exactly, you feel like your killing targets for something in return rather than it being just because someone has said so, but at the same time it's still good without the cash system for its wide range of executions which make it the best of the best for replayabillity and any game that can master the Replayabillity in my opinion is the best and it's the best for value, I mean right now I am still on the first mission because I am taking my sweet time in mastering it
A lot of people mysteriously choking on t-bones is freaking scary
Goddamn I am excited for this game.

I'm more excited for the next instalment tbh. They can improve only so much between the seasons. It's essentially still the same game plagued by Square Enix decisions.

I actually want go back to Odyssey but the side quests can be so grindy it puts me off a little but i love the setting, finished RDR2, amazing game.
dont confuse the side quests with the auto generated bs from the notice boards, side quest=yellow exclamation mark, the others are auto generated skip those.. i think ac:odyssey has some of the best side quests in recent years tbh

Using surfaces and walls as weapons to knock people out should also be something you can do (noise permitting or not as the case may be)
You should be able to gum up locks or break them to provide hinderance for your enemies while you find an alternate escape route.
I love Hitman, but Freedom Fighters will always hold a special place in my heart.
gonna be honest. hitman 2016 is probably my favorite game of all time. over 350 hours clocked in steam. i've never been more hyped for a game release. cant wait until gold unlocks.
shame about there not being such high quality cutscenes in this one though.
james woodard same for me! Hitman 2016 is my favorite PS4 game and can’t wait for the new one. The most polished and sophisticated game today with the most varied and long/lasting gameplay.
The most polished and sophisticated game today? And you say that in a world with red dead 2? You’ve got no idea what you are talking about.
Cutscences are probably down to them being dropped by square. They probably decided to focus on levels and not the cutscences themselves.
@@thecritigamer4321 Red dead 2 is a great game but it's not one of my favourites I've enjoyed playing it so far. I just find missions to similar sometimes like yes they're all different but some have followed the forumale of go here do this then oh no this went wrong which then ends in a gun fight. I have noticed that repeated a few times.
@Robert Rankins In this case it's okay. If they started talking about the genre map design etc then they shouldn't be compared
As if I didn't already know that I would be buying this when it came out. But it's always nice to get a trusted second opinion. You are the best reviewer on youtube, thank you for all your hard work and keep it up.
Your reviews are excellent.
They’re extremely well conceived and written.
There’s a real maturity to your choice of words and observations that differs you from your fellow reviewers.
You make it very easy for me trust your opinion because your ready (if they are there) to counter balance a negative with a positive; and I like reviewers who are contentious about the influence they command and how that in turn influences buying decisions.
You show a passionate understanding of your hobby / subject matter that is only derived from lots of experience and exposure and this again lends credence to your balanced reviewing.
You’re your first port of call for all reviews and thank you for taking the time to do what you do; it’s really appreciated (as is the “without sponsored bullcrap!)
I’m glad it’s not episodic this time, but it allowed them to pack a ton of replay-ability to the episodes that I hope is still in 2

Terrific news my cousin loves this franchise so she will be thrilled. Thanks as always ACG for the usual in depth brilliant review.
I like how said you want everyone to know you were there and the target didn’t just die choking on a bone, that’s not scary. Never thought of it that way!
Love Hitman and how it’s evolving. Never change, keep your identity
The Freedom Fighters call-back at 17:28 really got me hyped up. If they finally made a sequel to that game I would freak the fuck out.
I think it looks fantastic - aesthetically. doesnt matter that its not technological marvel regarding graphics, its still up to date with most titles out there.
yeah but it would've looked a lot better IMO if they went for photorealistic graphics instead of this semi-cartoony style
@prod gbc no, objectively it didn't. there wasn't even PBR back then.
@prod gbc you're right, absolution's graphics were impressive back then, the gameplay was horribly limited though, especially for a game that came out directly after blood money
bro i stoill play blood money to this day ....photorealsims is no good because they age worse
It looks like garbage to be honest, Hitman 2016 was lightyears better in graphics.
There's levels here that remind me of Blood Money mainly A Vintage Year,A New Life and Dance with the Devil
Really looking forward to this!
I've heard that the reason you set off "invisible" alarms are that cameras immediately show guards when you're doing something wrong. Could that be it?

I've always been a huge fan of hitman
I remember being a young kid and loading up the first HITMAN on my PC from a demo CD from MAXIMUM PC or PCGAMER magazine. It changed my life.
I remember buying Hitman II: Silent Assassin back in X-Mas '02. I use to be a nervous wreck hiding bodies!
Karak is 95% of the game's comtent/progression locked behind ONLINE ONLY? That was an abysmal decision in the first title.
Nope
The first ever hitman game was the best, those childhood memories are awesome, the alarm sounds the way the neck tie moved around when running
I’ve never been too into Hitman and have only played Hitman: Absolution (despite owning the entire series aside from the 2016 game and, of course, this time), but this game looks fucking awesome!
OMG the lighting in the outro at the beach and overall sharpness of the picture in this video in 4K is absolutely striking! Question, on which platform/ console or was it PC did you actually record it from ACG?
Switched to this review because the ign guy sounded like a bell end! 🤠💥
Honestly the only reviewer I trust on RUclips.
I remember playing Hitman 2 16 years ago...I'm old. :(

@@shinratensie_5345 yeah you do
I loved that Multiplicity reference...but am likely the only one.
How is the DRM? My biggest complaint about “season 1” is the always online requirement. Did they remove it for the sequel? Not a big issue for me right now, but in my previous location I did experience regular disconnects.
Can someone answer this...same reason I passed on 2016 version...
True, that piece of Square enix sh..t
always disconnected me from Hitman 1 and Just Cause 3, then i just returned my money for Just Cause

I'm going to get Hitman for sure. Not at full price though. Wait for a sale at Xmas. Superb review as usual Acg!
Man, freedom fighters arcade, love that game!
The last 3 missions where they are sniper missions. That really pissed me off. I fell like it would of been better if it had that same sniper mode, with the normal campaign.
They are not missions at the end but little snacks compared to the main meal.

I cant wait to get to this but can you crush bodies into garbage truck hydraulic press like blood money
Now that we have Hitman 2 we really love it, but... even if you got all the old mastery on the Hitman 1 levels it doesn't carry over. That means you've got to get all of it again.
Holloe Holloe gives you even more time to play,
My friend and I have been arguing over what "never touch" means in your reviews. I think it means you buy the digital version because that way you never touch a physical copy. My friend thinks it means that you have someone else put the disc in the system so you never have to touch the game disc. Who is right?
Its means dont buy at all

I would definitely get Hitman 2 if my funds permitted me to do so. Not only that, but I'm also playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which is a massive game. After I beat it, I will dedicate a good chunk of my time for Red Dead Redemption II.
