A single player game without lootboxes ? What is this sorcery !? That's a buy for me. The game look amazing on it's own and no BS lootboxes & microtransactions !

Ditto, I decided to buy it earlier this week when that dev quote came out about why they chose to focus on the single player, just to support them. We don't really have the right to complain about forced multiplayer, microtransactions, etc. if we don't support the devs who don't do that stuff.
Absolutely agreed. Wolfenstein likes its retro gameplay, but I like the fact it just lets me buy the game and lets me play the game without having to wait for patches to come out to fix the game. And yeah, The Old Blood was a proper expansion pack/companion game to The New Order - not stupid DLC.
+Green Jelloe They've arguably broken that trend with the Creation Club for Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition, but even so they are still one of the best AAA companies around right now.

Nice review, i hated the Wolfenstein before this one. Found it really boring. Does this one feel different than the first one or is it a more 'explosions/guns' type of improvement?
This kind of game is becoming rare - a singleplayer experience with linear level design and a good story to boot. Really looking forward to this title. Great review!
Karak is a video game reviewing machine sent from the future to save mankind. That is the only explanation I can think of on how he does all these quality and quantity reviews.
this such a good thing to hear Karak. The New Order impressed me greatly and easily became my favorite shooters that year...good to hear this one is amazing as well :) great review
This game MUST do well. Just enough to prove to companies that not every game has to have multiplayer to do well in sales. Otherwise this might be one of the last good linear single player games.
I generally tend to make my decision after hitting a few review outlets I value highly, but I think this pretty much does it already. Thanks once again for the surgical precision with which you approach all the game's facets, and the structured pros and cons of each section. With an added emphasis, yet again, for me, on the audio section which is always sublime. Much appreciated, Karak.
Glad this was done well, as I have been looking forward to this since the first came out. Terrific depth and quality as always ACG thank you for your time and passion.
Absolutely loved this title. This is a prime example of just good old fashioned gaming with great graphics and phenomenal storytelling. No microtransactions, no multiplayer, just fantastic gameplay that feels so rewarding and well worth the money.
I get my disability check on the 3rd. You've saved me so much money+ your entertaining. I will join your Patreon. It might be short term ,but at this point I just wanna help how I can . Thx for your work.
I know my opinion is going to be unpopular, but you're basically being generous with money tax payers are providing you. If your disability checks give you the flexibility to donate to someone's Patreon, you're getting too much money.
Zidro C If you know your comment will be unpopular then why even post it. Never heard the saying, if you dont have anything nice to say then keep quiet?
Zidro C And his disability check is HIS money, which he deserves to get. So he can do with it what he wants, its none of your business honestly. He still sacrafices some of HIS money, which shows his generosity. And dont talk like you know that this individual gets TOO MUCH from the state. Best and the most fast reviewer ever! You sir really do an amazing job and I can’t buy a game until i have heard your opinion (and i always do as you state)
I've never played a Wolfenstein game in my life. However, with the trend towards micro transactions and class based shooters with mediocre stories...this game stood out. I almost never buy shooters as well. This game will be a first for me. I'm excited!
YES! More than assassins creed, this is what i was looking forward to. Doesnt mean i hate assassins creed, just meant i was looking forward to this more.
If only i had more time and money... Evil Within 2, Wolf 2, and i'm still in the middle of Bloodborne,. Wittcher 3 and Resident Evil 7..... I buy more then i can afford to play. but hey. Too much is better then too little. Glad to see so many good games.
I recommend playing the first game 😊 my favorite part in first game was the easter egg when you have nightmare and it takes you Back to Wolfenstein 3D a game they made back 1992-1993, kinda funny
One straight question to you buddy - how the hell you don't have minimum 1 or 2 m subscribers yet?? I mean u deserve even more...i have been a gamer since 1995 n since then very few i mean it very few of them would justify and elaborate game the way you do it man... I swear if i am not exaggerating but i would not gamble my hard earned money on any game without watching ur review... You know..you deserve more...KIU
I pray this Wolvenstein for the choice not to have mulitplayer, microtransactions or lootboxes. I know the previous games also did not have them, but currently it seems that all the big triple A games have some sort of monetisation in one way or the other. Great review as always Karak and I am looking forward to playing this game.
Glad you mentioned how good the music is. The second to last mission has a really menacing track that perfectly encapsulates the tone set by the cutscene that starts it off.
man i wish they didnt release EVERY game in October - November, so many good games this year and I just dont have time to play them all, this is a must have though
Thanks,i give up on assassins creed, even tho i love egypt setting its just not enough plus in that. This game however i dont mind getting for 59.99,no microtransaction crap/no online activation for uplay/no lootboxes......GREAT
RE-L Mayer all ac games can be played offline without uplay, microtransaction is optional and AC:O doesn't have lootboxes (I haven't seen any) I'm sure you just a typical Ubisoft hater....
Just keep the limit around $1000 dollars then ignore them when they call you eventually they give up I've learned from experience. Didn't even mess my credit up
the original Wolfenstein was my 1st FPS, good to see it's still going strong....will probably still be playing this instead of the new call of duty multiplayer
Even though it is singleplayer? Jesus, have everyone drank from the "oh my god its another open-world game with a lackluster story, repetetive missions, uninspiring characters - it must be great!"-bottle? Big, open and empty world game design with boring, repetetive multiplayer bs like destiny 2 is something I will stay clear of. Gimme wolfenstein anyday over these boring multiplayer games
NrNi9e Or it could be someone like me who uses video games as a social medium to hang out with friends. I simply don't sit down and play video games for hours by myself. I'm happy this game exists but probably won't play it.
Have fun playing 6 hours for your $60 value. Personally I demand more for that amount. Maybe you'll enjoy a harder difficulty next time round after you beat the game? Meanwhile in other games it's always gonna be different. $20 game? Yes this is ok. $60 game? Fuck no imo.
So glad it held up to the expectations set by the excellent The New World Order and Old Blood! Can't wait to pick this up. Wolfenstein TNWO is easily my favorite singleplayer FPS I've played in many years. Also, gotta appreciate you pushing both this and the Assassin's Creed: Origins review today.
TBH the thing is. AC is gonna get my money. Because it's gonna last me probably a 100 hours where wolfenstein I'll be done in 10. I don't want multiplayer in this game but I think a gears of war type horde mode would be awesome and would add a lot of replay value. But I'm definitely gonna buy it when it's on sale, it's a game I really want to support. No microtransactions, great story, excellent gameplay. Great characters. Brings us back to the days when single player linear stories games were great. So definitely getting it by Christmas, but the fact that there's little to no replay value for me. And I'll be done in probably a day or two is rough for me to sign up for at 60 bucks especially the same day a open world sandbox rpg which I'm gonna sink hours upon hours into is out the same day. But I don't think you can go wrong with either game. Just my opinion.
100 hours? How can you play an AC game for more than 6 hours and not be bored out of your mind? It's the same shit every time, lol. Just with a prettier coat of paint.
I didn’t know this game was coming out, then the game awards sales came out and I saw it, picked it up for half price and have been in love with it since
Dude Karak is working double-time! When I saw the AC Origins review pop up, I figured it'd be a bit till we got a Wolf II review. Even bigger sites like Kotaku with a bunch of people are lagging back this guy!
Would be nice if you played an example for when your making a point. Like with the shotgun point play a short clip where we get to hear the well done sound of the deafening roar of it's rapid fire. Beyond that, really enjoying the reviews keep em coming
Just clocked it. Love this game. Like Doom 2016 it captures that fast paced balls to the floor action like nothing before. The story and characters however are amazing, really goofy but thought provoking too. My game of the year.
Top notch review dude. I still don't know how you manage to play Elex, Wolf2, Southpark, etc all in the same couple of weeks worth of reviews! But hey, it's your job and I can appreciate someone who takes it seriously. Will look at Patreon once I start this new job.
You can enjoy and complete this game fast and just exchange/sell to someone with very low loss and get another game like Origins for example. If you're on PC thats other story.
This game is a wait for a deep deep sale because the hours to money ratio is as good especially without multiplayer or side activities that extend the life.
lmao its people like you who are responsible for the filler and bloat in current games. Why does the time matter when youre having fun, if you cant afford the hobby then you should choose another. Go play a micro transaction filled mess if you want to play for $1 per hour...12 hours isnt short for a story game stupid
Well if it isn't the best game journalist alive. With another well articulated review. Everything this man touches is gold. Can't get enough of your unique vocabulary and wordplay. Thank you sir for being a true gamer with awesome reviews and no sponsored bullshit. You sir are the man.
I don't understand how the consoles are running at 60fps with their shitty cpus, but the cpu requirement on pc is much much higher than we usually see. Something odd going on there.
Dave Bonski even a Nintendo DS runs games at 60fps, so what's your point? Also consoles at the end of their cycle naturally run games despite much lower specs than the PC counterpart requires, it's called optimization
Got my game pre-loading right now, gonna play when it first comes out, I loved The New Order or Doom 2016, saw a few reviews and over all I feel I will love this game!
Aside from the bulletspongy enemies that give barely any indication that you're even hurting them, the worst thing I noticed from all the gameplay I've seen is the environmental interaction. Fire never spreads to any flammable objects, but fizzles out in half a second. Explosions don't move any objects around. The guns are still as huge as possible to cover up the screen so they can render less and up the graphical fidelity. I've yet to see a weapon that actually seems satisfying to use as none of them have any punch or stopping power to them. Might as well just stick to the first one or wait for a deep deep deeeeeeeep sale on this one.
all games do stuff like this. fighting games where no one takes any real physical damage. objects that are invulnerable to any weapon man or alien can forge. I thoguht next gen hardware was going to remedy this but I don't think we'll ever get realistic enviroments.
actually agreed with this - story was really sub par and many characters were just shoved aside and didn't amount to anything much, a real far cry from The New Order, to me at least.
Kirk Redgate Imo AC? Not because I think Wolf 2 is terrible but Bethesda (published) games tend to go on sale relatively quickly. 33% after first month for both Dishonored 2 and Doom IIRC.
This game is an ABSOLUTE CHORE to play! pointless trying to find the way foreward, first wolfenstein title ive played is that how its suppose too be? dont think it works well in a wolfenstein game
Damn October 27th is one hell of a day, Wolfenstein (most anticipated outside of Persona 5), Mario Odyssey, AC Origins, and Stranger Things season 2 all in one day sheesh.
For me this game was one of the worst experiences i had in recent times. The previous games were great but the upgrade system, the story, the gameplay, the characters everything was badly handled. I hardly deinstalled a game this quickly.
I also prefer Wolfenstein new order over DooM. Doom is great but kinda repetitive. It's always the same clear room with demons then move on to the next room with demons or open place with demons and this repeates until the end of the game. Wolfenstein at least has a proper story, cutscenes and well made characters.
I'm glad this series is focused on SP only. The story in both New Order and the Old Blood were very entertaining and this looks to be the same. It has that Man in the High Castle feel, turned up to 11.
Conspiracy TV You could say that about any game if you break a game down to its simplest form. Witcher 3- Exploration, fighting, talking.... rinse and repeat Gta V- driving, shooting, cutscene, open world dicking around... rinse and repeat Super Mario Odyssey- platforming, boss fight... rinse and repeat Dark souls- exploration, fight, boss fight... rinse and repeat Uncharted 4- cutscene, walking/dialogue, fight scene, set piece... rinse and repeat I could go on forever but you get the point by now I’m sure. I don’t mind you not liking the game but the way you put it makes it look like you’re just shitting on the game for no reason. Try and make your comment more thought out.
Conspiracy TV it is marketed as a single player, LINEAR, ARCADE shooter. And that is exactly what it is. It does its job at being a linear arcade shooter perfectly and deserves 8/10. If you want a rpg go checkout those games instead. Just because the game isn’t the category that suits you it doesn’t mean it’s bad.
Looking at the female antagonist, at the minute 7 mark, it is kind of reminiscing of the movie 'Snowpiercer'. It is also, not far off in its rebellion theme. I wouldn't be far off in drawing a few similarities between both titles. At the very least, some inspiration.
This is a rare occasion where I bought a game before it got the Karak seal of approval (and I almost never pre-order), but the first one was so good I had no real doubt that it would be good.
You're the best, Karak! I watch your reviews pretty much every time I buy a game. I never would have appreciated the sound in games as much as I do now if it weren't for you. Here's to your future prosperity!
Great review, the one thing I feel deserved a bit more criticism is the sound options(at least on PC). I use headphones and the options only has TV, Cinema and something else that’s splipping my mind at the moment.
Mick Gordon has dome some fucking incredible work with the Wolfenstein and Doom games over the last few years. I don't often buy game scores, but I'm already sure I'll be getting this one.
Good job on getting the reviews up, I am waiting a bit on this vs getting AC and Mario tomorrow. It's days like this that I'm glad I know how to take advantage of Gamer's Club at Best Buy.
A single player game without lootboxes ? What is this sorcery !?
That's a buy for me. The game look amazing on it's own and no BS lootboxes & microtransactions !
Now this is a game I can support! No microtransactions, no publisher bullshit. Just a great looking fun game. Cheers for the Review Karak
On top of that.. The Old Blood type expansion packs too. That alone is worth purchasing the season pass, but I'll still wait for sale on those.
The FPS side of Beths\Zenimax seem to running strong and counter to industry trends. While others are trying to make the 10th class based fps-moba hybrid w/ micro transactions. ID &
MachineGames are putting out quality single player experiences
Ditto, I decided to buy it earlier this week when that dev quote came out about why they chose to focus on the single player, just to support them. We don't really have the right to complain about forced multiplayer, microtransactions, etc. if we don't support the devs who don't do that stuff.
Oh shit expansions?! These are the kind of expansions I can get behind!
A single player game review without a reference to microtransactions. Why a time to be alive!
Yup, Bethesda's pretty great. DOOM, The Evil Within, Prey, Dishonored.... no microtransactions to be found !
There's still a season pass, but maybe it'll be worth it.
+Green Jelloe They've arguably broken that trend with the Creation Club for Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition, but even so they are still one of the best AAA companies around right now.
Expect it has less than 5 hours of gameplay, and a season pass.
The funny thing about Bethesda is that they always bring us great games.
Except for when it comes to their in-house developer team. They mostly fucked it up. lol
Single Player games > Multiplayer games.
This is what I love about ACG. His reviews come out early but they clearly weren't rushed. The amount of detail be goes into about the game pros and cons, is incredible. Others would just talk about what's on the surface and give a number.
Summary
Went retail with this one as word was they were going to be late. Then they gave me a code as well. So folks are going to get 2 games in patron this month lol.
Overall absolutely wild ride and one of the best stories in a shooter in years

Nice review, i hated the Wolfenstein before this one. Found it really boring. Does this one feel different than the first one or is it a more 'explosions/guns' type of improvement?
Your work ethic is admirable, from the detail of your reviews to the very punctual uploads. Respect to your craft.
Enigmatic801 ikr. this is the kind of guy i want on my team.
This kind of game is becoming rare - a singleplayer experience with linear level design and a good story to boot. Really looking forward to this title. Great review!
Thank god somebody is still making quality Single Player linear games. I hope it sells well.

well this is just the embargo break. Doesn't really have a connected to when a game is getting played

not enough time either.

I still have enough money for Mario Odyssey and Wolfenstein 2. After both of those I'm officially broke and back to pirating.
Raidoom that’s exactly what I was thinking
RetroShark85 get a job
this such a good thing to hear Karak. The New Order impressed me greatly and easily became my favorite shooters that year...good to hear this one is amazing as well :)
great review
,
Check out The Old Blood.
Got this for $25 a few days ago. It is awesome!!!
This one was better than New Order in my opinion. Both are great.
This game MUST do well. Just enough to prove to companies that not every game has to have multiplayer to do well in sales. Otherwise this might be one of the last good linear single player games.
2 reviews in a day? Did i get my calendar wrong? Are we in December?
jack171380 well, it's Broketober
It would have probably been 3 if Nintendo wasn't such a dick.

Wolfenstein 2 and Super Mario Odyssey....what a phenomenal weekend to be a gaming fan
and AC: Origins. B getting those 3 tomorrow.
Glad this was done well, as I have been looking forward to this since the first came out. Terrific depth and quality as always ACG thank you for your time and passion.

Gonna get this for someone for Christmas can't wait to see their face when they open it
Try hard Gameplay Thanks. I'll really enjoy that copy

100 hours? How can you play an AC game for more than 6 hours and not be bored out of your mind? It's the same shit every time, lol. Just with a prettier coat of paint.
There is no multi-player in this game.
I don't get the hype about this game. it is a corridor shooter with very boring looking environments.
So shooting enemies over and over again is different? How confusing. smh
Saw your other review this morning and was wondering where this one was... and here it is
Already pre-ordered, but I’ll watch for ACG.
I do that a lot. He often has some hilarious one-liners.
I didn’t know this game was coming out, then the game awards sales came out and I saw it, picked it up for half price and have been in love with it since
Don Andersen You kill the main lady Nazi villain and your character gets his head chopped off and put on a new body
Getting it day one.
Thanks a lot for not spoiling scenes from the story. Thumbs up!
Do you really expect anything less than awesome from a Wolfenstein or Doom title...lol.. can't wait to save up for this.
12hrs? Well, that means I could actually best the game. Instead of it being 40+ hrs and sitting on my shelf for the past 6 months. Great review.
The biggest question about the game is: Is Hitler a Badass bossfight?
You kill him in a cutscene while he is afraid.
Probably yes. We have seen him in trailer
Dragon Slayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough your photo rocks !
Since this is going to be a trilogy, here's to hoping that mecha hitler will be a boss fight in the third game.
Isaac Schlomo Shekelburg-Cohen that was like one of the best parts of the game, I was literally on edge the entire scene
Dude Karak is working double-time! When I saw the AC Origins review pop up, I figured it'd be a bit till we got a Wolf II review. Even bigger sites like Kotaku with a bunch of people are lagging back this guy!
New World Order was freaking awesome. Can't wait for this
Would be nice if you played an example for when your making a point. Like with the shotgun point play a short clip where we get to hear the well done sound of the deafening roar of it's rapid fire. Beyond that, really enjoying the reviews keep em coming
Keep up the great work ACG 👍
Just clocked it. Love this game. Like Doom 2016 it captures that fast paced balls to the floor action like nothing before. The story and characters however are amazing, really goofy but thought provoking too. My game of the year.
Only Mario Odyssey to review now
Edward Blangsted It's a 10. He won't review it though.
Top notch review dude. I still don't know how you manage to play Elex, Wolf2, Southpark, etc all in the same couple of weeks worth of reviews! But hey, it's your job and I can appreciate someone who takes it seriously. Will look at Patreon once I start this new job.
I have a bit of difficulty with 60$ game lasting 12 hours.
I am sure it will be on sale at some point
You can enjoy and complete this game fast and just exchange/sell to someone with very low loss and get another game like Origins for example. If you're on PC thats other story.
This game is a wait for a deep deep sale because the hours to money ratio is as good especially without multiplayer or side activities that extend the life.
Quality over quantity.
lmao its people like you who are responsible for the filler and bloat in current games.
Dave Bonski it is easier to program for console because it Has the same chipset. Pc's are nearly all different.
Dave Bonski idk, I've rarely seen a game need more than the g4560 for 1080p 60 fps gameplay.
Dave Bonski Consoles have been able to run games at 60fps since the NES and SNES. Google it
Dave Bonski even a Nintendo DS runs games at 60fps, so what's your point? Also consoles at the end of their cycle naturally run games despite much lower specs than the PC counterpart requires, it's called optimization
Dude the graphics suck and frame rate drops exist before each cutscene.
love that their is a dev that still understands the importance of STORY! currently working my way through old blood in anticipation for this
Fuck yeah!!!I've been waiting for this
Got my game pre-loading right now, gonna play when it first comes out, I loved The New Order or Doom 2016, saw a few reviews and over all I feel I will love this game!
I rarely pre order games. I pre ordered this a month ago and have it pre loaded. Great review, can't wait to play it tomorrow.
Hillary Clinton looks scary in this game
Best game reviews ever. Been with this channel for a little over a year and I will never go back to the old ones
So in your opinion Wolfeinstein 2 is a better game than Assassins Creed Origins? I'm torn on which game to buy tomorrow.
Kirk Redgate Imo AC? Not because I think Wolf 2 is terrible but Bethesda (published) games tend to go on sale relatively quickly. 33% after first month for both Dishonored 2 and Doom IIRC.
Kirk Redgate I would say you should buy The New Colossus. Wolfensteins a better Franchise then Assasins Creed going more for quality then quantity.
Wolfenstein 2 definitely.
Kirk Redgate depends on your preference. Do you like single player first person shooters or do you like open world action RPGs
Kirk Redgate Mario!!!
Every time I look for a game review on RUclips, I look for ACG. Best reviews online, period.
Keep it up!
MachineGames has now become one of my favorite developers I can't wait to see what great games are coming from them in the future.
I'll take Wolfenstein over Doom anyday.
They're both fantastic. Have you actually played DOOM 2016? Cause it might be one of the best FPS games I've ever played
Wolfenstein is Doom with a proper story.
Daniel Nettles I love DOOM, it's pure carnage!
I also prefer Wolfenstein new order over DooM. Doom is great but kinda repetitive. It's always the same clear room with demons then move on to the next room with demons or open place with demons and this repeates until the end of the game. Wolfenstein at least has a proper story, cutscenes and well made characters.
Krispy As Fk I will take both, love Doom, and W
I'm glad this series is focused on SP only. The story in both New Order and the Old Blood were very entertaining and this looks to be the same. It has that Man in the High Castle feel, turned up to 11.
This looks exactly the same as The New Order.... cutscene-shooting gallery-cutscene-shooting gallery rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat
Conspiracy TV p l a y I t
And that’s why we love it.
Conspiracy TV You could say that about any game if you break a game down to its simplest form.
Witcher 3- Exploration, fighting, talking.... rinse and repeat
Gta V- driving, shooting, cutscene, open world dicking around... rinse and repeat
Super Mario Odyssey- platforming, boss fight... rinse and repeat
Dark souls- exploration, fight, boss fight... rinse and repeat
Uncharted 4- cutscene, walking/dialogue, fight scene, set piece... rinse and repeat
I could go on forever but you get the point by now I’m sure.
Nice that they return with some crazy special weapons, you only had that laser cutter in the New Order and nothing in Old Blood.
definitely my favourite reviewer and no game is purchased without first trying to watch Karak's reviews.
thanks man. If you get a chance check out the patron and discord or something. Come in and yack about games.
Holy CRAP that remark about Irene was funny as hell!
I haven't played a Wolfenstein game since 3D back in like '93, but I think this will make it into my collection when the Switch version drops. Thanks!
Thanks so much for having this up so quickly.
