  • I completed my MBA at the University at Buffalo and graduated a year ago. Currently, I work as a product owner. The MBA program is quite demanding, requiring 60 credits compared to the 30 credits typically required for other master's programs. This intensive coursework, especially in specialized areas like finance or analytics, often means that fewer MBA students have the time to take on part-time jobs compared to other graduate students.
During my time at the University at Buffalo, I worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Operations department. This experience was invaluable, both in terms of gaining practical experience and in helping to offset the cost of tuition.
There is a common myth about scholarships that I want to clear up: the $7500 scholarship offered is for the entire academic year, which covers two semesters, not just one semester. Securing a TA position can be crucial for saving a significant amount of money. I strongly suggest reaching out to professors even before you officially join the school. Send them an email explaining your experience and expressing your interest in a TA position. Being proactive can give you a better chance of securing a TA role, which can provide both financial relief and valuable experience.
In my next video, I will talk about the challenges of an MBA program and offer advice on which courses to take to maximize your chances of securing internships. Stay tuned!
