When Blitzø thinks that Stolas is just initiating a weird roleplay, he says “I love you so much”. THAT is when Stolas cuts him off and “has his answer”. He has probably never heard those words before. And to hear them used so mockingly… I get why he shut down. That doesn’t excuse any of Stolas’ behavior and I’m equally frustrated with both of them, but that part really hurt me.

Having been in a toxic relationship (and unfortunately a few abusive ones of the non romantic sort), nah, that isn't what's happening here.
[Edit: my attention span stretches about as far as a flea, forgot to mention here when I posted that this next part is more directed towards things mentioned in the video and some comments, not 100% just this comment. Sorry if you've already read it, it would probably seem pretty out of nowhere]
When someone is yelling at you like Blitzo does to Stolas (especially in an attempt to communicate), you don't owe them sitting through their barbs and insults. Stolas definitely could have phrased it better, but that is not a justification for the kind of rant Blitzo went on, or for expecting someone (especially someone who has spent years in an abusive relationship) to take that shit. If you explode at your partner when they try to talk something through with you, that's on you, not them for not predicting and avoiding it better.
They both have problems and traumas that don't mix well, but Stolas is absolutely not in the wrong on this one.

    • @rivermaxwell3834
      @rivermaxwell3834 22 дня назад +31

@@thatboringone7851 Nah, I don't mean within this episode, because it is absolutely true that you don't owe anyone anything when and if they talk to you like that. I've been in an abusive familial relationship, which isn't the same as an abusive romantic relationship, but the basics of being treated horribly by someone remain the same. So, yeah, I'm familiar enough with the feeling of someone being cruel, even when unintentionally. What I mean is that the fandom tends to forgive Stolas for a lot, if not all, of his issues while painting Blitzo in a very poor light. Now, that's not to say Blitzo doesn't have problems because he absolutely does; it's just that both Blitzo and Stolas have issues that they need to work on, and a lot of the same things that the fandom villainizes in Blitzo are also habits that Stolas shares. Blitzo has a lot of good reasons to act the way he does and do the things he does, which the fandom ignores. Stolas also has good reasons to act the way he does. I don't mean to excuse either of their actions or behaviors; only point out that often, only one side of the dynamic is acknowledged and treated compassionately.
Tldr; not within the context of the episode, but the show as a whole, people treat Stolas's motivations and actions as more valid and acceptable instead of acknowledging both Stolas's and Blitzo's part in creating a harmful and unhealthy relationship.

Also people try to say Stolas was using Blitzø for sex and he's a hypocrite but then completely ignore that Blitzø was just as much using Stolas for the book (and Blitzø liked the sex so idk what their point is) it's just weird seeing fans so one sided when both sides have easily understandable reactions from the context of both of them. He would expect it from Stella, and after everything with her he doesn't want to deal with that again. Stolis should have asked him to stop yelling and can we talk, but idk man…this is an area I think S.C. has some blindness to because of his own biases. Its painful for Stolas to hear, yes, but he isn't really the victim here as he forced this unnatural relationship in the first place, he is mostly a victim of his own actions. why should Blitz take his love confession seriously when he has been coercing Blitz this entire time? He didn't give Blitz any space or understanding, he immediately made it about himself even though supposedly it was for Blitz.

I think Stolas truly doesn’t understand the deeper aspects of their power imbalance. He’s able to see beyond their class and see him and Blitz as equals and somehow assumes Blitz feels the same. The whole class system is ingrained in Hell’s social structure and it’s naive to think it can be disrupted so easily. Fizz and Ozzie’s situation while similar still has them on similar social standing.

    • @seeleunit2000
      @seeleunit2000 20 дней назад +7

Well, Ozzy is a member of the seven deadly sins and a king in the in Ars Goetia and Fizz is an Imp.
Now, since the only one who can tell Ozzy what to do would be Lucifer, hell's King, though I doubt he's going to, since I doubt he cares what they do in their social life.
However, since Ozzy is high on the totem pole he can basically do what he pleases, and there's going to be a backlash yet, Fizz is the one in danger of getting most of it, since Fizz is an Imp.
Yet, those two have managed to be able to have a better relationship. With Stolas, he's a prince, not a king. He's high in status and power but not anywhere near Ozzy.
So, while he can get away with a lot he can't get away with some stuff the way Ozzy can. If you could get away with the stuff that Ozzy could, he wouldn't have hit his face in that menu while in Ozzy's club, now would he ?
Why is it that some people keep forgetting this when they watch this show ?

"Blitzø, I think so highly of you. I didn't know you thought so low of me." - Stoals
Blitzø thinks more than highly enough of Stolas. The issue is Blitzø doesn't think that highly of HIMSELF.
In his mind, he: Killed his mom. Destroyed his Dad's business. Ruined his sister's life & made her a drug addict. And mutilated his best friend.
He has destroyed every person who got close to him. He is an unlovable monster. But you know what he's GOOD at? Doing jobs. As a hitman, he is great. When it was a "transactional thing", he was great, and his 'boss' was happy with his performance.
The issue is that if he lets somebody in emotionally, Blitzø is afraid they will learn to hate him even half his much as he hates himself, and he thinks he will deserve it.

While I do agree that Stolas not listening to Blitz is a problem, I think we also need to address why Stolas shut down. To me, Stolas has been trying to take this conversation serious from the start, trying to talk to Blitz, and generally trying give him very sign under the sun he is being serious.
Problem is Blitz is deflecting, doesn’t notice, or is pretending it’s nothing serious. Meanwhile Stolas is being very vulnerable, Blitz isn’t. So when Blitz acts like it’s all a joke, that hurts Stolas a lot and he shuts down. This is the cause of their breakup.
Stolas handles conflict by shutting down. Blitz handles it by acting aggressively most of the time. This is probably how Stolas handle conflict with Stella. He shuts down, Blitz yelling at him probably didn’t help.
Not that is Blitz fault, he didn’t know. I just don’t think Stolas’s reaction was bad, I just think it was a terrible idea to have a serious conversation on that day specifically.

An extra note too, this confession was almost a last attempt from Stolas. We know this because according to S2 E6, which lets us in more on what's happening behind the scenes. Stolas has been calling and trying to chat with Blitz casually and Blitz thinks he's just trying to mess with him. (Fizz seems to find this incredibly false and retorts "Sounds like your just mad at him for being a Prince and Blitz reaffirms that Royal Demons don't care about the lower class at all. Which, to me sounds like he's just doesn't want to accept this possibility. (This is considering that Blitzo knows about Fizz's successful relationship and can arguably be in on Vortex and Queen Bee.) Blitzo may be calling this "Out of nowhere but he's been getting spoonfed the fact that Stolas does ACTUALLY care. And he's just refusing to think that's possible until he gives him an out.
Only for Blitz to yell at Stolas for playing with his feelings and hasn't given him the proper notice for him to think about the love confession, when Blitz kept going, not taking time to think, defaulting to Stolas just messing with him and trying to have sex.
Stolas was trying to reach out, give Blitz time to come to him if he wanted, and Blitz just didn't. And only AFTER his confession and question is done, does Blitz then basically admit, he does care, he just is too busy getting mad at Stolas about placing this emotion bomb on him when Blitz, knowing the intimate details of their relationship, didn't consider Stolas calling him to check on him, or seeing how things are going is anything more than just "Fucking with him."
Blitz saying he needs a minute, now of all times, is basically all the proof we need to say that Blitz hadn't once, in however many months, consider that Stolas actually cared for him when during these months. Stolas was trying to push that same message without outright saying it.
Up until Stolas seemingly gives up, Blitz thinks this is just a job, and not sleeping with Stolas was basically having the night off.

Not letting him have a moment to BREATHE and TAKE IN everything that's going on. Stolas dumped his feelings out and because he did, he can walk away thinking he has his answer, that he got HIS CLOSURE when he hasn't even let blitz speak. If he said he didn't realize he was being serious, weather it's genuine or him not taking it seriously was his impulsive defensiveness on his emotion, stolas should have let him talk even if he was hurt because this conversation isn't just about getting HIS closure but also Blitz if this relationship isn't gonna work. I don’t see the scene as problematic. What unites these characters is that they both believe they’re unwanted/unloveable. Stolas’s rush to conclusions is in line with how Blitz has been for a long time. Stolas is becoming cynical like Blitz. Which in turn may prompt Blitz to reflect on his own pattern of behavior; how he just blew up relationship after relationship because he needed to confirm he was unloveable. He didn’t talk things out with Verosika, he just bailed.
No Blitz is the one on the receiving end of just being dismissed and not given a chance to explain or honestly discuss feelings. He’s pissed, he’s heartbroken, understandably so. But now he might finally get a chance to understand why him doing something similar in the past had also inspired such ire from former loved ones. That may lead him to try and figure out now that he has to get through to Stolas, which is fundamentally how to get through to himself.
How do you convince someone who thinks they’re unloveable that you actually care for and cherish them?

I think the main problem here is the plot point of Stolas developing feelings for Blitz.
In season 1, we go from Harvest Moon and Truth Seekers where Stolas is belittling and using Blitz only for sex, then jump straight to Ozzie's where he develops feelings out of nowhere and is all excited to go on their first date.
Then season 2 goes back and tries to paint it as a childhood crush, that Stolas has had these feelings their entire time actually, and the rest of the season follows his efforts to make the relationship official, such as getting the Asmodean crystal, or the text messages after Striker's attack. We see all of it from Stolas's perspective, with the main plot primarily following him.
But Blitz didn't see ANY of that.
Blitz is completely correct, the "feelings bullshit" did come out of nowhere, since the events of Ozzie's are invalidated because of Stolas hiding his face, and the two of them haven't interacted since. Blitz is completely within his rights to call Stolas out on "playing with his feelings", and Stolas is absolutely abusing their power dynamic, *knowingly,* as we see from him debating the ethics of their deal.
Im just really worried because it looks like the story is going to focus on Blitz, and how he needs to change HIS toxic behaviour, without addressing the power dynamic and difference that's been there since day one. And yes, Stolas "thinks so highly" of him, but to Blitz, all it's been is belittlement and fetishization.
I love this show, but if they fumble this MAIN PLOT it will annoy me greatly.

Something I want to mention, solely in the perspective of Blitz, the feelings were there a while back Blitz was just too preoccupied to see them.
He came onto Stolas after a joke Stolas made, which Stolas preceded to get flustered and try to back off and reiterate he was kidding but Blitz doubled down to use it as a way to get grimoire.
Out of Blitz’s perspective we can also see that Stolas doesn’t engage until Blitz turns him on and THEN Stolas jumps into that episode 1 horny degenerate energy, because its what he thinks Blitz wants.
The feelings, or at least the respect and friendship, was there from when they were kids up until when Blitz tries to steal the grimoire.
I will admit Stolas is not good at picking up peoples energy, so when he’s condescending to Blitz he genuinely cant tell that Blitz doesnt appreciate it and is hurt by it, and Blitz has no idea that thats not how Stolas really feels because again, he was too preoccupied/doesn’t remember how Stolas acted when he tried to rob him.

"The fact that you couldn't fathom that I might have these feelings for you, that your first instinct is that it's always... About sex... That's enough for me to know what this is"
Stolas has changed so much over the period of time between the season 1 finale to now that he has no idea how hypocritical that statement is. For all the introspection and strife Stolas has been through, when he finally has the bravery to be honest with Blitzo, From Blitz's perspective it must've been like Stolas just randomly became a good person out of buttfuck nowhere. No wonder he reacts the way he does, and gets so unbelievably pissed off at everything that follows. So Blitzo, Mr. "expert at pointing out people's flaws", does exactly that.
I'd like to point out that Blitzo says "after everything you put me through?" Blitz, at that point, wasn't entirely convinced that Stolas was being genuine. Or, maybe he did, but even IF Stolas was genuine, Blitz still thought that was absolute horseshit since Stolas treated him poorly for so long. He's not trying to have a calm and rational discussion about their feelings, he's picking a fight. So, Stolas breaks down and retreats.
"I think so highly of you. I didn't realize you think so low of me." comes more from a place of self-loathing. It's not "boohoo you hurt my feelings how dare you get outta my house" it's more "I respect your opinion greatly, and so for you to see me like this way, I see now that I am unworthy." Note that earlier in the episode Stolas said "Will I listen to him or the voice that says I'm not enough?" I mean, would Blitz have really changed his tune and tried to apologize right then and there because Stolas was crying? No, he recognised that feeling of being thought low of, and feeling low of yourself in-turn. Blitz is basically the master of that, after all.
Anyway yeah sorry for the essay but I think Apology tour will be just as much Stolas apologising to Blitz as it will be vice-versa

Stolas realized that their transactional relationship wasn’t okay snd therefore made it so that Blitz wasn’t “forced” to stay with him, basically giving him the choice, and also expressed his true feelings about him. But then Blitz went into trauma response mode and decided this was a “joke” since he can’t fathom someone genuinely loving him. Stolas interpreted the mixed signal like Blitz not wanting him, and when he finally realized he hurt Stolas it was already too late 😭 This whole interaction was brutal, how both their issues got in the way of this moment that could have been their reconciliation. Watching Blitzø's face throughout Stolas' confession, it really looks like, had he been given time to think he would've absolutely been happy about it. When Stolas explains what as Asmodean Crystal is Blitzø looks really touched, until Stolas explains that he's doing this so that he doesn't have to be roped into an unfair situation. Blitzø doesn't argue about the gift he's upset about it feeling like Stolas is trying to cut him off like Luna said. I absolutely agree, it is so frustrating that Stolas just refuses to hear anything Blitzø is trying to say and just shuts down completely. Especially at the end, when Blitzø is trying to argue. He's so prone to running so for him to start that conflict and say "Let's go" while kind of the worst way to handle that, it's his way of saying he wants to talk about it, and he wants to work on it, and Stolas just completely ignores him. Like, oh my god Stolas, you know that he's temperamental and stupid, just give him a chance to talk to you, this is what you've been waiting for! He's trying to connect and he is trying to get his thoughts straight, and its frustrating to see him just shut him down for critisizing how he's *shutting down*. I sympathize, but he was still treating Blitzo poorly. I also think Blitzo has some misdeeds to answer for, having routinely treated Stolas as if he doesn't really have any feelings, which again, I can completely see why Blitzo's self-hate leads him to assume he couldn't possibly matter to Stolas and why the social power dynamic makes him think Stolas is invulnerable. It would leave something lacking for the narrative to treat either side as if they're blameless and have nothing to learn or to work on, because the dynamic is so interesting precisely because it's so easy to sympathize with the trauma and flawed assumptions that make each of the characters act the way they do.

As a small note from my viewing for the final scene- I don't think Blitz was thinking in the moment "I'm not leaving, we're going to sort this out" I think he was clearly spiralling into a blind rage and spewing shit to hurt Stolas; real issues that he feels, but meant to be hurtful. I think the way he kicks the door and just loses it, and when he screams "Let's go!" is him wanting a fight. Not a physical one, but I mean he is most likely used to people like Verosika who will just scream back at him. Its what Blitz knows, and his defaulting to it as a reflex and most likely wants Stolas to fight back so he can further justify that he's unlovable and it couldn't of ever worked out.
The issue is, and I love the detail if its intentional, is that Stolas is from an abusive relationship. Its shown that Stella is physically abusive but chiefly she is verbally abusive. In that moment, chasing him down and screaming, Blitz is just making himself seem just like Stella. Stolas does exactly what I'm sure he's done with stella, he hides himself and lets himself get abused and he knows its not worth fighting back or defuse the scenario; even if he should for his and Blitz sake. He just accepts the hate at face value, and then runs away because that's what he knows.
It sucks, but it does show their awful lovelives still affecting them.

100% agree. Blitz brings up good points but to assume he was willing to go ahead with the conversation rationally is just not like him at this current point. Plus he is intentionally looking to hurt Stolas with words the way he'd felt hurt by his unintended but harmful behaviours and actions. It's only after he sees Stolas cry with just how affected he was did he realised that he took a step further than needed. Stolas in no way could have had a serious conversation at that moment with someone like that

I see what you’re saying, and 100% agree about the Stella parallel, but I might be able offer some insight on what may have been happening on Blitz’s end.
I will preface this by saying that I am not intending to excuse his behavior nor saying that Stolas should have accommodated it in any way. Just offering some potential insight on how exactly that was an attempt to talk things out.
As someone who is similar to Blitz (but has gotten therapy unlike him lol), I think that him hurling insults at Stolas served two purposes. One, to try to get Stolas to stop walking away. If someone is defending themselves and screaming back, they are at least no longer walking away and still engaging in the conversation. Two, he was expressing how he felt. Sure, it's not things that were actually true, but he doesn't know how to express that he felt that way without phrasing it in a very hurtful and unhelpful way.
So him screaming that he won't let Stolas dismiss him and saying "let's go, bitch", was him willing to stick around and actually hash things out, which is a HUGE thing for him to be willing to do.
Is that still the worst possible way to attempt that and less than the bare minimum in a healthy relationship? Absolutely. But the best way to understand him, is to compare him to his past behavior, like the way that he intentionally blew up his relationship with Verosika, not to what it *should* be. Not to excuse his behavior. Just to understand it.

I agree mostly with this but one small difference. I don't think Blitz wanted to fight Stolas so he could justify his bias of being unloved, rather I think he wanted Stolas to fight back because it would mean Stolas cares from his perspective. Stolas fighting would show Blitz he hadn't given up on him, and no matter how terrible Blitz is being Stolas is still there. That at Blitz's worse Stolas wouldn't leave him.

It was a tirade on how the higher ups treat imps, him being verbally assaulting and wanting to physically _fight_ Stolas because he was triggered by his own idiocy and ineptitude. That's it.
BTW I am also someone who can, sadly, identify with Blitzo and has also gone to therapy. He had a needless tantrum, one he caused by not listening to Stolas and taking it for what it was, despite recognizing it was real at multiple points, he just _would not_ accept the reality being dealt to him so I can't find any validation in his actions nor do I feel he's deserving of understanding. Start with the rock then ask for the book back explaining why, this keeps it from seeming like a breakup and making Blitzo panic. God I love this video. It encapsulates everything that I was thinking about the episode. Stolas just doesn't listen and only thinks about how HE feels about the situation. That blitz's emotions are simple and by him being the savior by freeing him it'll all be made better. That so what if he was showing blitz that he was ashamed of being with him at Ozzie's. So what about his making it primarily about sex. Now that HE doesn't want it primarily about sex he gets offended that blitz thinks that this is still the whole situation. Blitz may have not considered Stolas's feelings too, but at least he didn't try to put a layer of self righteousness of his own opinion to stolas.
I agree 100% that I hope that Stolas recognizes that he has done a lot wrong too. And he in turn tries to listen to Blitz. Also I hope that blitz can actually consider that maybe this blueblood actually likes him for him, despite who he perceives himself to be.

The one thing that annoyed me (in addition to everything you hit on) is that Stolas never actually apologized for his actions to Blitz. He only said that the circumstances between them were wrong and that it couldn't continue, but he never said it was because of his own actions forcing the issue. It was like he diplomatically phrased it in such a way as to avoid saying he mistreated Blitz. At times it almost sounded like it was mutually a mistake. "This is wrong, and it can not continue" instead of "I wronged you, and I deeply apologize. Please forgive me."
(Cut to Charlie: "It starts with sorry." *blink blink* )
Stolas self-sabotaged the relationship here. I don't think it was intentional, but if Stolas couldn't anticipate Blitz's initial reactions to any extent, then I think that Stolas doesn't truly understand Blitz at all. (That or he doesn't understand how people work. I mean, he likes Blitz being a "bad boy" in bed, but he doesn't get that Blitz acts that way outside of the bedroom too?) I do hope both find good healthy relationships, but at this point I really don't think they are actually right for each other. I think Stolas just latched onto Blitz due to his desperation to escape Stella and the moments of escape he gets with Blitz were his only ability to vent. But I think Stolas might be over-romanticizing too much without actually getting to know him. Things might change in the future where they could work together, but right now I don't see it - even if Blitz wants it.

I’m honestly so glad I’m not the only one who feels extremely frustrated by the ending. I mean don’t get me wrong, it’s very real, and this is something that happens in actual relationships. Some people just absolutely blow ass at communication, and it’s really really frustrating to watch from an outside perspective. Stolas was hearing Blitz, but he wasn’t listening at all. And some of you guys might get mad at me for this, but the whole “I think so highly of you, I didn’t realize you thought so little of me” just seems like once again, he’s making it about himself. I don’t think he’s doing it intentionally of course, but all he got out of Blitz CLEARLY trying to express his OWN insecurities was “He thinks poorly of me”. Are you actually serious? He essentially invited Blitz over for a one-sided communication and conversation, which, by the way, IS NOT A CONVERSATION- it is not a conversation if you do not allow the other person to get a word in. It is incredibly immature to just say what you want to say, make assumptions, and then walk away, not letting the other person explain themselves. I understand that he was highly emotional, but he essentially just stone-walled Blitz. I honestly think that Blitz had absolutely every right to react the way he did here.

To be honest, I had seen Stolas' scenes as more as him hating himself and seeing himself as the problem for making Blitzo think that their relationship was strictly sex based so he felt as if had to stop the relationship for Blitz's sake up until Blitz yelled at him- saying things I felt could be compared to what Striker had said to him which made him probably compare Blitz to Striker at that moment, that or comparing him to Stella. I do think this whole thing was indeed just another misunderstanding between the two.

I’ve seen a few people saying that Stolas dumping his feelings on Blitz with no time for him to think was bad of him. But I personally don’t agree that this is the case.
They’ve been suggesting for a while that Stolas has been trying to explain to Blitz he wants more than just a physical relationship; like after the fallout of their ‘date’ at Oz’s and after Stolas gets kidnapped by Striker. But because Stolas has no idea how to communicate with Blitz he’s been backing down or giving him an out each time because he didn’t want to force Blitz out of his comfort zone; which I think is why they haven’t met up for a few months like Blitz says. Blitz even outright says he’s been avoiding talking to Stolas in the song when he says he’s been “avoiding his questions”.
So it’s implied Stolas has been trying to have this heavy conversation with Blitz for a while but Blitz keeps avoiding it. For me it makes sense Stolas assumes Blitz doesn’t care when he thinks Stolas is joking; after he’s been avoiding him for so long, even going as far as not replying to Stolas’ request to see him when he was in hospital.
Blitz himself says he’s been avoiding Stolas and that he doesn’t like that their relationship has become “complicated”, because his own issues are causing him to be self sabotaging again and Stolas’ communication skills are abysmal but if you give someone an option to not see you and they choose to take that every single time then you would assume they don’t like you, even without the self worth issues Stolas has.

Stolas decided he would talk to Blitz and offer him an out if he wanted it; while Blitz’s response when he thought Stolas wasn’t interested was agonising over the book and go shopping for sex toys.
It’s fair for Blitz to be worried about the book because his whole business relies on it but it never occurred to him that asking Stolas if something was wrong and try and talk to each other; communication was never an option to Blitz because he doesn’t want to talk about it. I appreciate seeing someone who is also giving Stolas some well deserved flack.
I think people don't quite realize the power imbalance between these two characters and how much of an impact that can have. Like, Stolas is asking Bliz for sex, with the underlying threat existing (even if Stolas doesn't say it out loud), that if he doesn't, he will lose the book that *allows him to run his company and make his livelihood* (I.M.P means a lot more than that to Bliz, considering that pre Season 2 Episode 6, Moxie and Millie (and Luna to an extent) were pretty much the only people in his life that didn't want him dead in a field. (Besides Stolas obviously))
I don't think Stolas truly understands this either. On paper, it might seem like Blitz is the dense/cold one for rejecting/not seeing Stolas' attempts at non sexual affection as a genuine desire to change their relationship, but ESPECIALLY for someone as mentally fucked up as Blitz, that's gotta be hella confusing. Imagine someone who you have a transnational sex relationship with, suddenly starts acting more emotionally affectionate. That's gotta be confusing. The power imbalance and possibility of it being a misunderstanding would definitely dis-sway one from risking the vulnerability of considering such a relationship.
A lot of it comes down to bad communication. Blitz is ignorant/guarded, to an extent by choice perhaps and assumes things about peoples actions, without talking about it. Stolas tries to communicate, failing to realize that the person/context he's dealing with, can make his actions come off as confusing

Just wanna start out by saying this was one of my favorite episodes yet, absolutely great work by the VA's. The moment when Blitzø started yelling at Stolas and the brief pause as he caught his breath, the ending line "I'm not letting you". I could not help but feel relief, for him and with myself.
But, to the point now - Blitzø has been holding back that rage, and sense of injustice for sooo long, the stigma imps face and embodying it into the face of Stolas - having an outlet for it (although hiiiighly displaced, since Stolas clearly cares about him). I could not help but feel relieved for him, that was his one brief moment of peace. That second of clarity, and power! Only to be blipped away immediately after... Not even having the time to process what Stolas was really saying, that Blitzø f**ked up, abandonment kicking in by trying to apologize immediately.
As much as I feel bad for Stolas, and how vulnerable he truly was to him... I cannot help but heavily sympathize with Blitzø. Maybe because I've been in very similar shoes, maybe for other more petty selfish reasons. But I feel bad for Blitz. He had been building up these anxiety's all day, avoiding what could potentially happen in his mind, only for it all to happen so fast. I hope in the future he will realize his worth, and that he has power now, he can go wherever he chooses. Which includes the power to be vulnerable without being... enraged, unsure allll the time that just feeds into his cloud of insecurities, and feeling utterly unappreciated.
Sidenote: furthermore, my biggest grievance was Stolas not really giving Blitzø a moment to talk about or even think about what he confronted him with, without even a warning. Especially starting with "give me my stuff back" immediately triggers the "oh god, he's leaving me. I wasnt good enough". The same feelings Stolas has also been feeling the whole time! Overall, I'm on Blitzø's side - I'd be pretty pissed too.

Still leaning a bit more on Blitzø side because the whole "I love you" after MONTHS of not talking sure would feel out of nowhere. But still, communication was never in the chat with these two
Rant aside, I did like how Stolas almost gave in to Blitzø, showing how it would've been so easy to fall back into their old ways. Nicely done!

Personally I am more on Stolas' side. But that is not really important.
But both suck at communicating and know nothing of each other. They are probably endgame but they need to get to know each other on a different level.
Up until now they were fuckbuddies. Stolas made the right call trying to give Blitz the option and allow Blitz to not have sex with him to keep the book. In turn Blitz did what Blitz did and avoided contact as much as possible. Then Stolas wanted to give Blitz total freedom through the asmodian crystal. Hoping that Blitz might respond in a way he hoped Blitz would respond. Wich is a very human thing btw.
I think it is easy to forget that Stolas doesn't know Blitz the same way we, the Audience know them both.
We know Stolas and Blitz are idiots. But they see each other differently. Stolas saw the dominant side of Blitz, he idolizes him. Blitz in turn thinks that Stolas couldn't love him, because no one could especially not someone like Stolas, who is rich and powerful and a high ranking demon. And furthermore the most Blitz knows about Stolas and his relationship is that Stolas likes the sexsessions more than Stolas likes Blitz.
Because that is when they interact the most.
Overall it is a frustrating situation. But it makes a lot of sense considering the circumstances and the characters.

So about Stolas being a hypocrite, my argument is that, they haven't had ANY physical contact for a pretty long time and the whole time Stolas has been actively try to help Blitzø. So yeah, it started with sex but now the situation has changed, Stolas used sex as an excuse to be with Blitzø, now he was the relationship regardless of the sex.
Also about the actual fight between Stolas and Blitzø, Stolas has recognized how toxic this relationship is and wants to move on, Blitzø can't recognize that. But just because he's too dumb to see that isn't enough of a reason for either of them to stay.
I think the flaw that really highlights this episode in relation to Stolas and Blitzø is how self-centered they avtually are. Both of them ARE give valid arguments and are comming from an understandable place, but they can't see it through each others perspective. Stolas has been in a toxic relationship and he solved it by leaving, Blitzø has been traumatized by people leaving. They are diametrically opposed as characters right now in their character arcs. Which is one of their biggest issues.
EDIT: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the last time they flirted was Western Energy, after that there was 4 episode after that showing how Stolas was intentionally. avoiding having sex with Blitzø.

I agree, from this perspective the new episode could be a bit concerning, however, there was a moment that I specifically latched onto while watching episode 9 that stuck out to me because I remembered this point in this video. In Stolas’ song, there seems to be a point midway through the lyrics where he is genuinely questioning whether there might be something he should be learning from Blitz (this essentially makes me believe that he does know, at least on a subconscious level, that Blitz isn’t the only one who’s f’d up). I think, in a sense, this saves the situation for now. It makes me think that, while for now they’ve put a lot of emphasis on Blitz having to become a better person, they aren’t completely dismissing the same for Stolas and will be focusing more heavily on his development later. I *hope* episode 9 just happened to be the first step of the show focusing on Blitz’s character growth and that it with later tackle the ways in which Stolas needs to change as well. I don’t yet think it’s entirely out of the cards.

I don't think Stolas acting differently is hypocrisy, I think it's the result of a change in mentality. At the beginning of their transactional relationship, Stolas had the physical side, but not the sentimental one from Blitz's side, and that was enough for him at the moment. But over time, I think that Stolas got tired of just bedding and needed to find out what Blitz's true feelings are.
Edit: And about the last part, I know Blitz is afraid of being thrown away, but Stolas opened up to him and Blitz mocked him. That night was a lot of pressure for both of them, and both got broken.

“I wanted…no, I NEEDED Full Moon.” GIRL SAME this breakup was everything I wanted. Blitzø realizing he’s actually really hurt someone, Stolas taking the initiative in the break up, and so much DRAMA to chew on until the end of the season (or Mastermind if that’s where the clip of Blitzø saving Stolas from Andrealphus is from).

I find it interesting how polarized people are being with the two. I can see myself in Blitz and his self sabotaging and I can agree that Stolas had good intentions. But I agree, there’s more blame on Stolas and his approach. And it’s really weird how a lot of people have been acting like one trauma is worse than the other, when in therapy we are taught that no trauma is above the other.

I'm sick of people to either just shit on Blitzø or just shit on Stolas because of this whole mess I mean did everyone forget to put the pictures together?
Blitzø definitely could have reacted differently (even though we all knew he would react this way still not okay) and he should have communicated his confusion and frustration about this whole situation instead of joking and yelling at Stolas for not listening yelling did nothing but made the situation worse
On the other hand Stolas should have definitely took a step back and thought about why Blitzø thinks like this about him (s1 e6 he literally called Blitzø ,,His impish little play thing" and never clearfyed that it wasn't his intention to treat him like a toy) and also Stolas just dumped this emotional stuff on Blitzø and didn't give him time at all to process (he himself struggled for weeks maybe even months to sort out his feelings but didn't give Blitzø even half of the time he needed himself to do the same)
They both have issues and trauma that they both need to fix and it's the fault of both of them that this turned into such a mess not just one of them both of them

For me, I took it as Stolas wanting to do something right but completely missing the fact that Blitz wasn’t going to take it well. And when he lashed out, it hurt Stolas personally because in his mind, he was doing something right and he cast him out. I can definitely see that both sides felt justified and not justified at the same time, but I don’t think this is the big moment. I think it’s Apology Tour.
That whole episode is going to be Blitz making up with Stolas and Verosika, and maybe both of them (Stolas and Verosika) can talk with Blitz and maybe they can reflect on how they behaved in their respective relationships like “Yes, he was shitty, but maybe I was shitty too with some of my actions”. I do want to see them put Blitz down, but I don’t want it to be the ENTIRE episode. I feel like Stolas and Verosika to an extent can maybe reflect and maybe understand that some of their actions weren’t right.
All in all, Full Moon felt like a two parter to me, because I know Apology Tour is next, and THAT’S the one I want to look out for to see if this will work.

I'm praying that the show embraces that Stolas has flaws and shouldn't be glossed over because of his charm or how we sympathize with him or how likeable and well-spoken he can be. It's really gonna fuck with me if they set up all this classism, the fact that there's an unhealthy power dynamic, and have Blitzo literally point out Stolas's problem in this episode just to say "yeah, actually Blitzo was in the wrong here and Stolas can do no wrong" *again* . I will riot.

I think (and of course hope) that the flaw they're trying to show with Stolas is how he is still unwilling to fully and outwardly acknowledge the flaws within himself. Has Stolas realized that the way he was demeaning and condescending to Blitzo was fucked up? Yes. Has Stolas changed the way he treats Blitzo? Yes. Has Stolas acknowledged this behavior in front of Blitzo and said that he knows it's fucked up? No he has not. Stolas is still unwilling to fully take responsibility for some of the flaws in their relationship. I think because he's trying to combat the idea that he isn't enough or that he's a monster.

I’ve seen comparisons between Blitz and Bojack Horseman.
Both traumatized by their past involving their families.
Leading to both to become jaded and being shitty to everyone around them. Minus that one person (Loona/Holly)
    And ultimately they hate themselves
But the difference is I feel like blitz is more salvageable. Blitz hurt others but the worst stuff he’s done was on accident and due to miscommunication. So he mostly hurts himself. Not an excuse but you can understand it.
Bojack hurts others due to his own cowardice and narcissistic tendencies and then feels bad about it but NEVER change. Plus the stuff Bojack does feel more disgusting and realistic than what blitz does. Which is ironic given how blitz is a hired killer but that’s played for comedy. Bojack assaulting women, traumatizing others, destroying friendships etc etc feel more hard to watch.
Blitz can still turn things around like either fizz who forgave him. Maybe things can work out with Stolas, Verosika, Barbie etc. Blitz even says “I don’t want to remain this way. Not forever.” So he just has to take that step and work on his communication skills.
    That’s my analysis

eeeeeh we don't... entirely know if that is true with blitz. it should be noted that it seems like his relationship with stolas was post loona. something about loona might have.... helped him out mentally. something changed. relationships pre loona might be a lot more toxic.
i feel like while its implied there was mutual toxicity with verosika and blitz, if we presume that blitzo was doing the murder stuff before he got the book, having his 'business outfit' like we see now, he might have been exploiting Verosika for access to the human world.

Stolas is such a fascinating character because the writers truly endeared the audience (and themselves) so much to him and his internal struggles with the relationship, that it’s hard for anyone to not feel bad for him in this episode. But he does have to be held accountable for how much he screwed this up too. Like obviously Blitz deflects and then Stolas misreads, but you’re so right, Stolas offers him no choice the second he thinks his own fears have been confirmed. It’s understandably heartbreaking to have your own earnest confession turned into a joke, but Stolas does run away the moment Blitz wants to have a real conversation about how he feels. He’s romanticized everything, so he wanted a romanticized moment. Blitz can’t even process whether he loves Stolas or not until he’s worked through how this dynamic makes him feel, until he knows Stolas truly understands the pain he’s caused. But Stolas doesn’t actually want to hear it, because he knows it’s true, and he can’t sit right with himself in that relationship if he knows it’s true. And like you said, everything that Blitz calls out Stolas for is ultimately confirmed to be true in the way Stolas dismisses him.
I feel like the writers having Stolas say that Blitz makes everything about sex is the direct result of the reframing of his character they did at the start of this season. Kind of just…trying to wash the audiences brains of the idea that Stolas is using sex to control Blitz by having Blitz be the initiator in order to get the book. I’ve never loved that change, so it’s frustrating to hear Stolas say it, but it does make this a fascinating exploration of power dynamics. Blitz absolutely cannot be the more powerful party in this relationship because he is the one giving himself to Stolas out of desperation (something many survivors do), but Stolas still feels like he’s being used even if he knows he has more power because he’s the one who’s caught feelings (and privileged people irl absolutely feel like they’re being used, whether or not they understand that the playing field is unequal) Basically, it’s a Sugar Daddy/Sugar Baby dynamic which makes this whole thing beyond messy lol. All and all, if the writers can manage to pull off tackling these very real nuances to extreme class differences in a transactional relationship, I’ll be very impressed. But this episode did leave me a little worried, as did the reaction I’ve seen from viewers. I think you’ve perfectly explained why we all should be discussing Stolas’ behavior in this scene more than we should be crying over them breaking up (but I did cry, so we can do both). I’m just glad the writers let Blitz say everything he needed to say because I was really worried they would let Stolas walk away without hearing it. I just hope it doesn’t get ignored moving forward.

This perfectly explains that feeling, as I was also so excited it could be shining a light on Stolas' flaws too, but as you said this season has been setting up a LOT of sympathy for our owl. The nerves are so real. I'm just sincerely hoping that, they did so to give him more depth, whilst also trying to give some justification of why the deal isn't AS imbalanced as it could be (still a lot of power imbalance there, but the backstory gives it more complexity than a royal taking advantage. I really hope that was all it was, and isn't going to become a 'woe is Stolas' train later)

  • @beegonzales7513

I love this because it felt very real… almost too real. Blitz is surrounded by friends, so many he has to schedule time for each one. He has many ex’s (friends and relationships in general) who blame him but won’t shut up about him. He’s obviously popular, obviously lovable to everyone but himself. Stolas is terrified and insecure. His ex wife was only with him because she had to be, and no matter what he did, Stella hated him. He is viewed as a sucker by EVERYONE. But he’s a good guy, and wants to help his friends every if they were mean. (Ozzie and Fizz in particular 🤦🏻‍♀️) So to watch Blitz and Stolas perfectly trigger each other at every turn was great. If it means a couple seasons of character development to patch this up or just the realization from both parties that they have issues to work on together, I think it will be worth it. ❤

Stolas and Blitz are both screwed up in their own ways and need to improve themselves on their own to be in a relationship. Both of them can't imagine the other actually caring for them. And that is heartbreaking, and I can't imagine, with where they're both at now, this conversation going any other way.
That last thing Stolas says, it's heartbreaking not just because he thinks that Blitz thinks that lowly of him, but because that's how lowly Stolas thinks of himself.
I hope we see them both work on themselves and then see them both fight for each other.

In my opinion Stolas screwed this one up HARD.
Even ignoring his reaction to Blitzø’s misunderstanding and then screaming (which is most likely trauma response)
We have to realise that Stolas was either unaware of Blitzø’s… personality, or ignorant of it.
He basically sprung up an insanely difficult emotional situation on Blitzø without warning, and made it much worse by basically starting it off with
“My book, give it back, forever”
    Which very visibly distraught Blitzø.

After rewatching the episode, i now disagree that the Loona dialogue of "oh, shit, he's bored of you" was hamfisted to create inner turmoil in Blitz.
It's completely in character to have Loona, someone who copes with abandonment issues by abandoning the other before they abandon her, trying to warn her father figure - either by identifying Stolas as similar to her, OR by getting blitz to abandon stolas

The moment where Stolas raises up his hand to silence Blitz... OOF, it hurt. A reflexive show of authority over someone lesser than was done simply to make the pain of the situation more bearable (by not having to listen to Blitz's romance roleplay). However understandable it is that he felt he couldn't handle more, it was the way he stopped him that was INCREDIBLY disrespectful and demeaning. And then Stolas doubles down, talking over him all "I have my answer." It's no wonder Blitz was triggered.

what bothered me the most is that this season goes a long way to redeem stolas, stolas realizes he’s been taking advantage of blitz and that it isn’t right, he goes to lengths to stop doing it and give blitz his freedom, he even acknowledged to blitz himself that the deal he made wasn’t right, but he immediately dismisses blitz’s feelings when he expresses anger over how he’s been treated, “i didn’t realize you think so low of me” stolas you’ve literally been taking advantage of and infantalizing him the entire time you’ve known each other of course he’s gonna have some feelings about that, and instead of apologizing for how he’s treated blitz, he just kicks blitz out of his house, it feels like a huge step back for his character development, which is not necessarily a bad thing depending on how it’s handled in future episodes but i… don’t have huge faith it’ll be handled well tbh

Somehow watching a video of someone continually bashing stolas helped me figure out what i felt about this episode. Stolas had always been my favourite and i didnt understand why i now felt a bit biased against him. Now i realise, Blitzø isnt the only one with a fucked up coping mechanism. After being screamed at for years by Stella, it’s no surprise he shuts down at shouting and rejection. As soon as blitz takes it as a joke, he loses all hope. I feel so so bad for blitz because he didnt get a chance, he just didnt believe someone loved him, but now i realise what caused stolas to do that and stop listening. he just shut down, and he cant think properly or rationally anymore. also, although it may seem hypocritical when stolas says he doesnt want it to always be about sex and pulls away from blitz, i think hes not disgusted with blitz but more so what he feels he’s created and cant take back, he doesnt feel so much uncomfortable with him but what he feels he’s made out of him and he feels bad about that. both of them have used each other. i have so many things to say but i cant go on, so thank you, now i can truly say i feel so bad for both of them.
