I find it awesomely coincidental that some of my favorite bands, baroness, the sword, mastodon, all came out with their new albums with an ultimately more mellow, but soulful sound. I have no problem when talented bands drop the technical aggressiveness and add layers upon layers of emotion. well done baroness. well done.
Finally figured out the song and name to this... well band and song... radio wasn't able to let me hear very clearly because of old car... college pirate radio played it and i heard some lyrics clearly typed and now i'm here... and now my neighbors whether they like it or not will enjoy it too. Thanks!
Listen to the bridge, it starts off really tight and solid structure and slowly over repetitions it gets looser and looser and less bound. They take its bones away. Serious, listen to it
These guys make pure art. each release has been it's own masterpiece for me since "First". They have been my favorite because they don't put out the same records over and over again. They make music for themselves.
Given the fact that Baroness writes albums and not singles, these few preview tracks really have me excited to hear the new album from start to finish. I loved all of their previous stuff and so far the new stuff doesn't disappoint. Now back to slaying dragons and vampires in Skyrim
I would binge listen to this album a few years back right before I fell into an alcoholic depression. Went in and out of rehab for 2 years. It's been almost a year since I got out and hearing this with a new mind is nostalgic at the least. I'll never go back.
Bands evolve...you should try it too. I'll be the first to say that the likes of Baroness ( or Mastodon ) are not as heavy as they were when they started. But then again, they're not as young as they used to be, have flourished as musicians and , as artists, have moved in other directions. The problem with our scene is that change is considered a disgrace or offense. When in fact it, it's the change that keeps it relevant.
this song is sick. it's definitely different from anything off of blue record, but then again look at the difference between red and blue. completely different styles but still two fantastic albums. i can't wait to hear the whole thing!
Some people are just never pleased. Do you honestly want the same exact sound every single song, on every single album? Bands progress, they move forward, and with Baroness they very obviously love to experiment around. Blue is very different than Red in my opinion, and Yellow & Green will be very different than either of those albums. And you know what? That's fucking awesome.
One of the things I love about this band is the vocal melodies. They tie in so well with eachother! Amazing song seriously can wait for the double album!
You guys realize this is a single? Most singles try to pull people in with hooks and melody. The rest of the album will be awesome, Baroness has never let me down.
I guess all these comments show that most people don't actually listen to the music past the drums and singing because the music is EXACTLY the same in tone and 'sludgyness' as previous Baroness, he just isn't growling. This is awesome.
I'll be the first to say that I'm a heaviness purist when it comes to a ton of death/thrash/metalcore/melodeath/groove/post-hardcore/whatever bands, and I hate when they soften up.... but when Baroness and Mastodon and Opeth explore the uncovered planetary surfaces they've discovered - it's magic.
60 seconds in, I'm already falling in love with baroness all over again. Yellow and green's got a tough fucking act to follow, considering how Red, Blue, even First and Second are forever going to be on my list of albums that changed my life. but when we're able to sit down and listen to the whole album start to finish, Yellow and green is going to be just as life changing as everything else baroness has done. when it comes down to it, It's Baroness. Baroness can do no wrong.
Its ONE song out of 2 whole CDs... since when if the first track released on any album even CLOSE to being the best one. Its going to blow our minds, trust them.
This song (album) just seems like a natural progression. Every band evolves and I love seeing how bands evolve. I find it even more entertaining to see how fans ridicule that band for not wanting to put out the same record every couple of years. They have never seemed to be the band to sellout. Has anyone noticed how much of a progression there was from their first/second/unpersons split era music to the red/blue era? Different, yet the same. Have an open mind people, this is still Baroness.
My point was that they cleaned up their style a lot. It's cool because this is much more accessible to people who generally don't like metal but in the same vein it's very appealing to fans of Baroness.
I like the style change (which is very slight) waaaay more than the stylistic change mastodon tried.I like how people are hating on it and saying how this album sucks yet 1.its the first track to drop off this album so far and 2. one track doesn't dictate the whole entire album as a whole.
I saw an article on Cracked that was like "22 Albums You Missed in 2012". I was extremely skeptical that it would be like generic pop stuff, but the second entry was this album, and had to link to this song. Needless to say, it immediately made the list valid :)
While I agree that this song is amazing, you simply cannot deny that when he says "stop" and "top" he sounds like the singer of Nickleback. With that being said, I could not be any more excited for this album.
Listen to First & Second, they sound hella different on it to Red Album and Blue Record...this is just a natural evolution of their sound. Even though you may not like it this is still pure, awesome Baroness!
I just used the 'sold out' comment for a reference, but I agree with that part. You're right though - not everyone's going to be thrilled, but I maintain that the single hardly defines an entire record. I myself like this song, and i'm pretty excited to see the end result. However, I could be let down very badly when it comes out, like I was when Lupe Fiasco released Lasers. I just take issue with people comparing it to Red or Blue; at least you listened and kept in mind that this is different.
First song I've ever heard from these guys, and I love it. Definitely going to pick up this album when it comes out, then go back and listen to their older stuff.
This album is going to be great. I do not understand the negativity coming from some people, regarding this bands evolution. Growth is important as an artist. The differences between the RED and BLUE albums are just as drastic. Get off your high horse, naysayers. Baroness fucking crushes it!
Holy crap I'm only thirty seconds in and already impressed, weird considering I genuinely was un-interested in them the first time I heard them, but I've learned they truly aremusicians of the finest caliber. Plus their singer has much improved his voice. Neato Burrito!
I wonder how many hard working bands/performers are criticizing this band that continues to deliver? Probably none. Do something. If you're not a fan anymore no one needs your opinion.
Catchy and poppy doesn't have to be synonymous with terrible. I think it sounds amazing as usual, and the vocals add an extra element to de the sound. The riffs are there, and they truly set this song apart from anything Nickelback (to compare with the band that's been coming to everyone's minds) has ever released.
In my opinion this album is fukin sensational. Take the time to listen to it, not just hear it. Yes, it's a different path. Big bands, new era, something different, that's what makes it interesting. If they reproduced something almost similar to Red & Blue we would probably moan it was too similar. There is great craftsmanship in all music genres, but I truly feel this album will grow and grow and will ring true as one of the best for the next 10 years. Different, Yes, a classic - in the making.
Since everybody here is too busy arguing over the genre of this wonderful band, I'll be the first to try to define the meaning of the song: I think it's about how we are, essentially, just skin and bones. How, if you TAKE OUR BONES AWAY, you take away part of our being. "Picking up viscera, tendons and broken remains", going through life through things like breakups, drug addiction, poverty. Going through the pains of life, because even though those things are awful, they are part of our individual life, and again, define us.
I want to say that even if you tell that baroness are metal or if you tell that they are rock nobody will dissagree with you....sometimes there is a thin line between rock and metal
Nothing can top the first and second EP's. Red was alright and Blue okay (the gnashing was the best song IMO) but im really looking forward to this release. Of course i wish the recording was more distorted and raw like the early releases but im super stoked for this one!
John Baizley (Baroness vocals and guitar) has designed artwork for numerous metal bands, you can usually recognize his style. Was not aware he did some for Mastodon but would not surprise me
Come on guys, Don't judge the band because it sounds "mainstream" These guys are smart and creative and its a double CD. singles don't define an Album.
finally..can't wait for the album, i'm shire its gon be all killer no filler like the last ones, and the best thing its a Double Album, all the waiting will be justified!!!!!!
listening to the whole album via NPR.....its so fucking good their stylistic progession is great this record is so anthemic, psychedelic, and just spaced out and reflective. It's so good give it time and it will grow on any haters.
Even if this is more mainstream, it still sounds like the Baroness that stole my heart all those years ago. It's amazing.
Fucking hell, 10 years old... still sounds fire
TRUTH. I swear, sometimes from reading some of these comments I feel like my musical open-mindedness is some kind of God-given talent.
I find it awesomely coincidental that some of my favorite bands, baroness, the sword, mastodon, all came out with their new albums with an ultimately more mellow, but soulful sound. I have no problem when talented bands drop the technical aggressiveness and add layers upon layers of emotion. well done baroness. well done.

They take its bones away.
Serious, listen to it
Fuck me... I thought it was my perpetual highness...
This is one of the bands that inspire me to push through life& let someone else have a lousy day, because I refuse to!
Me too!
that bass 👌🔥😍
that ass
These guys make pure art. each release has been it's own masterpiece for me since "First". They have been my favorite because they don't put out the same records over and over again. They make music for themselves.
People gotta understand that an artists work is always a display of his life. And when you don't stop evolving in your Life your work will change, too
This song still kicks ass 8 years later in 2020. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021!!!
I haven't heard anything from this band until yesterday....I love every second of this!
Given the fact that Baroness writes albums and not singles, these few preview tracks really have me excited to hear the new album from start to finish. I loved all of their previous stuff and so far the new stuff doesn't disappoint.
Now back to slaying dragons and vampires in Skyrim
Why does RUclips not have a repeat-button? This is different from the previous records, but I like it. Can't wait to hear the rest of Yellow & Green!
Saw them last week at dour festival and it was fenomenal, old and new songs.
Blue album will remain my favourite of theirs but i like this alot too.
I would binge listen to this album a few years back right before I fell into an alcoholic depression. Went in and out of rehab for 2 years. It's been almost a year since I got out and hearing this with a new mind is nostalgic at the least. I'll never go back.
hey, good on you man. we're all proud of you.
🤘🖤 keep your head up! & rock on! With your chest out! 💪😎
Take my money away, Baroness!
So much faith in this band.
Jesus! This is best metal I've heard in YEARS.

One of the most exciting bands around these days.
I don't even care, anything Baroness does is amazing to me
One of the things I love about this band is the vocal melodies. They tie in so well with eachother! Amazing song seriously can wait for the double album!
WHY CANT I LIKE THIS EVERYTIME I LISTEN
I love this song. Sing it in the morning, sing it at work, sing it when I get home. Thank you Baroness for rocking my world!
CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS SONG!!!
Am a first time listener myself, this is AWESOME. And just checked their tour schedule and they are in Berlin the same time we're on vacation there!!
1st time I heard this tune, It was stuck in my head. Love the new direction. Baroness FTW!

It's Baroness. Baroness can do no wrong.
For anyone crying or bitching..its just one song, get over it! Its still baroness and to me it kicks ass!
And I love comments coming straight from the heart. You express most of us
yes, this could easily become my favourite album of the year! cant wait! i love baroness!
I personally think it sounds beautiful. Can't wait for the rest of the new material!
Its ONE song out of 2 whole CDs... since when if the first track released on any album even CLOSE to being the best one. Its going to blow our minds, trust them.

More and more i realize Baroness becoming my fav band. And this is one is another dam fine track. It "takes my balls away" :D
This reminds me of early quotsa and kyuss so much.
the way that lead at 2:20 spills out from the mix is orgasmic
I'm high as balls and this still sounds nothing like Nickelback. It sounds great regardless of substance, or none at all. I'm stoked.
Like Baroness! The entire band should lead our country!
*Killing* me, guys! Can't wait for the album to drop!
for everyone saying that older recordings were harder
singles are usually catchiest songs, not best
just chill and wait for release of the album
My point was that they cleaned up their style a lot. It's cool because this is much more accessible to people who generally don't like metal but in the same vein it's very appealing to fans of Baroness.
this guys sound way better live than in album. someone should capture their essence
I have incredible faith in this band.
I like the style change (which is very slight) waaaay more than the stylistic change mastodon tried.I like how people are hating on it and saying how this album sucks yet 1.its the first track to drop off this album so far and 2. one track doesn't dictate the whole entire album as a whole.

It's like the band are trying to create an open air or live sound on their albums/cds. I really dig it personally. Love Baroness!!!
Excited for this album! Plus it is a DOUBLE album. This song might sound more poppy but you can bet they will mix it up with that many songs
And another album on my "to-buy" list.
this is going to blow everything else they have done out of the water.
Got to meet the band yesterday, But so far this one of the better songs off their new album.
I just used the 'sold out' comment for a reference, but I agree with that part. You're right though - not everyone's going to be thrilled, but I maintain that the single hardly defines an entire record. I myself like this song, and i'm pretty excited to see the end result. I just take issue with people comparing it to Red or Blue; at least you listened and kept in mind that this is different.
awesome album!
yeeeeeahhhh i'm really happy for this ... thanks BARONESS, . some soft music but really great band... thnxxxxxxxxxxxx
It's amazing hearing how Johns vocals have progressed over their albums. Also, the opening on this song is sick as fuck!
It goes like this : Blue >> Red. Blue album defines their sound, their music, their work. Red album is so good, but Blue is even better !
one of my favorite bands to listen to on a sunny day, driving down the highway, radio turned up as loud as it can go
Thank you. Nice to see someone actually gets it.
I just love Baroness! great song!
Holy crap I'm only thirty seconds in and already impressed, weird considering I genuinely was un-interested in them the first time I heard them, but I've learned they truly aremusicians of the finest caliber. Plus their singer has much improved his voice. Neato Burrito!
Dude, best Baroness yet.
I can't stop returning to this page! I think i'm going to set it as my homepage.
Best album I've bought in 10 years, HANDS DOWN.
this new stuff is going to be HUGE
I wonder how many hard working bands/performers are criticizing this band that continues to deliver? Probably none.
Do something. If you're not a fan anymore no one needs your opinion.

The riffs are there, and they truly set this song apart from anything Nickelback (to compare with the band that's been coming to everyone's minds) has ever released.
Which is, by far, Mastodon's greatest accomplishment to date. That album is near perfect. Not all music has to super aggressive to be amazing.
i love the sound of this record so far. Snically. It is definitely something that will benefit from the vinyl release.
In my opinion this album is fukin sensational. Take the time to listen to it, not just hear it. Yes, it's a different path. Damn I cant wait to get this album

It's desert rock. Almost exactly like kyuss and quotsa
Baroness keeps blowing my mind away!
I want to say that even if you tell that baroness are metal or if you tell that they are rock nobody will dissagree with you....sometimes there is a thin line between rock and metal

thank god. i've had this song stuck in my head since they played it live but i had no way of listening to it.
Perfectly put.
ohh yeah! so excited about this album
i don't use to listen to this kind of music (indeed, i don't like mastodon), but when i listened to baroness, i knew i'd fallen in love...
Excellent.
I was a bit disappointed at first ,but these tracks are really growing on me. Baroness is staying awesome
2:25 is masterful. Nothing less of what i come to expect from these guys.
On the song, awesome, can't wait for this album to drop in july.
awesome melodic progression, sounds like it has eight ballz, could you ask for more?
AWESOME.

Motherfucking beautiful
Awesome stuff. can't wait for the new albums!
John's vocals have gotten more melodic, he's improved I reckon :) I love this, can't wait for the album/s.
,I am very happy this guys are safe.
I wish for a quick recovery,Peace!
