Ty to Two Minutes To Late Night for introducing me to one of the most Important bands to come out in a long time. Bought this masterpiece today on Band camp to make sure the band gets my money directly. Ty Baroness. Much love to you.
I thought I still payed some attention to metal, even after many years of disappointment with the new releases. But I don't know how I missed this band. So happy now, five gorgeous albums to discover!
I was SO CLOSE to seeing Baroness at ROTR this Sunday. I remember first hearing Isak on back then just Sirius satellite radio. Me and a friend of mine I've had so long I cannot remember how we met or even past adventures instantly dug it. So glad they've gotten a bigger fanbase now. Anyways, I was hit head-on by another vehicle just yesterday which insurance has already declared being totaled since the air bags blew. I tried to make it, I really did. I searched from Huntington, WV to Chillicothe, OH for a rental car with none available till Monday. I'm okay from the wreck, passed pain thresholds long ago, I just flipped out a bit knowing this meant I wouldn't be able to make it to ROTR, which would have been my first ever/last concert. The first/last thing I've ever had on a bucket list. Was prepared to go far outside my bubble and took months preparing... all for nothing. lol sorry for the pathetic rant. I bought tickets December last year, which turned out to be an RFID chip wristband. So I'm not even sure if I can even give it away since it's registered to my name.
I ended up finding a ride up there, at a hefty price, then blew through a ton of money there, freaking $11 beers lol, but ya it was a blast even alone.
2021 now, and I just started listening to them about a month ago. I've now listened to all the main albums. Really was dragging my feet on these guys...
Decided to give these guys an honest try. I had only heard a handful of things pretty passively and they just struck me as a knockoff Mastodon. I'm glad I sat through this whole album. Really exceeded my expectations.
Back in the medieval days when the ale would flow freely and the wenches would rub soft pillowy breasts upon us, we found this stunning album at a local Circuit City and paid 12 coin because of the great artwork. We never regretted that purchase to this very day! Hail, Baroness! !
This never gets old. All their records are superb but this one is special. One of the top10 albums of the past 20 years. It's their mix of 90's alternative rock and Indie Rock into sludge metal that sets them above the other sludge metal bands, IMO.
I know that baroness later albums are good too. but for some reason to me, Red and blue just hits the hardest for me in term of groove over their latest album.
Nah, at this point they were still using humbucker equipped guitars, mostly les paul customs with their big BadCat half stacks. It was only when Gina joined that they both committed to the small amps/single coil thing fully.
Yes on most counts, don’t think the bad cats came in until Blue though. Pretty sure Red was tracked w/ a Peavey VTM 120. Basically a modded 800 style circuit - can’t beat lp customs into (basically) Marshalls🤌🏼
Just discovering this artist although I've been aware of the name for yrs. I call that "sleeping on something." Lol anyway Amazing versitle musicianship at work here. This album seems to be really inspired by mastodon. The first thing I heard from em was green & yellow and I was confused as to why they where considered metal lol Cheers from Wyoming!
I've always had the same old gripes with this. They're skilled musicians, sure, but way too much time is wasted on aimless guitar picking and meandering instrumentals. The singer has a perfect hardcore/metal voice - let him loose!
This album has a lot to like on it, but the singer's refusal to sing in anything but the same belted out 2-3 notes seems like it's kind of doing the multifaceted music a disservice.
Totally valid but John's voice IS the voice of Baroness and for the past 17 years, it's worked out well imo. Have you heard more recent Baroness? Gina's doing more vocals now.
@@tubadude07 funny, since I posted the comment I purchased and love all of their albums. It's definitely grown on me and has changed quite a bit over the album years. I do think it's at its best now with Gina's harmonies.
Not really. Mastodon didn't invent Sludge Metal nor did they invent Progressive Metal. They happen to be the most known one but that's it. Baroness made EP's at the same time while Mastodon did their first record. There were some more bands around that time that started to combine those genres in similar ways. Of course there are similarities but this album here and Baroness as a whole have their own unique sound and songwriting. Listen to this record and then play for example Leviathan by Mastodon afterwards and you notice the differences in songwriting, tones and melody approach. The guitar tone on this album here alone and their double lead usage is totally different than Mastodons sounds. I actually listened to both in a row and both sound quite different from each other. Mastodon definitely had an influence on other upcoming bands who combined Sludge and Prog elements like for example Intronaut, The Ocean or DVNE. But those bands have their own unique sound. Especially Intronaut with their dreamy Post-Metal passages and rhythm section.
@@TonyRedgrave1501 I wouldn't call them a knockoff Mastodon, but early on, Baroness was influenced by and frequently compared to them. By the time Baroness recorded its first demo, Mastodon was 3.5 years old and had already released 20 songs (two EPs and an LP). With that being said, both bands have numerous influences and have evolved over the years. Baroness already began to change their sound with Red album.

so nice to see people listening to this masterpiece
Damn Skippy flap jack..still to this day
Red and Blue album carried me through, nearly, all training sessions when I was in MMA. What a glorious time in my life. :)
So nice to see people mastering to this listenpiece. 😄
Still here. Time for your reminder
Ty to Two Minutes To Late Night for introducing me to one of the most Important bands to come out in a long time. Bought this masterpiece today on Band camp to make sure the band gets my money directly. Ty Baroness. Much love to you.
Seriously one of my all-time favorite albums; absolutely amazing start to finish.
Yes it is..still to this day

Try Leprous if ya don't know 'em. Nothing else like them.
Their best album. Cool.

Besides searching for a rental, I tried UBER, Lyft, a taxi, and even offered anyone I knew $200 cash and $50 gas for a round-trip
Bluraz ill be there at 530!!
I ended up finding a ride up there, at a hefty price, then blew through a ton of money there, freaking $11 beers lol, but ya it was a blast even alone.
Hell yea dude today wss crazy. You make for baroness??
Wtf.????
That opening guitar melody of Rays On Pinion is one of the best things I've ever heard
I'm sorry to hear that.
Neat. I've been aware of Baroness for a while, Don't know why it took so long for me to listen to these guys, this is great.
2021 now, and I just started listening to them about a month ago. I've now listened to all the main albums. Really was dragging my feet on these guys...
Just discovered Baroness and I'm absolutely in love. This album is especially incredible.
First and Second my favorite but i just recently listened to this album again for the first time in almost 10 years and i cannot stop playing it. :)
The One-Two-Three opening punch is almost Breathtaking! What a way to start an LP
One of the best ever..hands down.
Yes it is🤘🤘
Jeez what an album, Rays On Pinion is one of the greatest opening tracks ever 🙌🙌🙌
wailing wintry wind is one of my favourite. just epic...
Isak is...everything!!!
I am, absolutely, in love with this band...
I loved with this album since day one ❤ this and blue are masterpieces. #UNIVERSE
Decided to give these guys an honest try. I had only heard a handful of things pretty passively and they just struck me as a knockoff Mastodon. I'm glad I sat through this whole album. Really exceeded my expectations.
felt the same first time i heard them (not so much knockoff, but "boring version")...then gave the blue record a listen and i was hooked.
Similar to Mastodon, with a pinch of Clutch
Mastodon is not nearly as unique and the riffs don't even compare!!!
Actually it sounds more like Isis than Mastodon
I love every single song on this album. I overplay it but w/e man good tunes.
I thought they would never get to Baroness. C'mon Blue, Yellow-Green and Purple!!!
Purple was not released by Relapse, but I agree about the other two!
Well, at least its been uploaded by a ton of other people.
We're still waiting for Relapse to upload full album streams of Blue Record and Yellow & Green.
Please post Blue Record!
Please upload a full album stream for Blue Record.
This band should be headlining shit everywhere. Period.

Ron Fiasco what a legendary comment
Wolfestry nntv Thanks! I do my best!
It was fucking epic!!!
Ron Fiasco those halcyon days...
Praise be upon this gift from the heavens
This album is stunning and I cant stop listening!
this album is absolutely legendary

😂@@jackbenson8228
Wish they still made music like this. They kept getting softer and lamer with each passing album. This one is a classic
Their new album brought some heaviness back (specifically on tracks 3, 8, and 9).
Happy birthday, Red!
has the first song on a first album ever announced a band's identity/mission so effectively as Rays on Pinion? i think not
mdd47 Hit the Lights
Welcome to the jungle.
One of the best sludge metal album ever.
I know that baroness later albums are good too. but for some reason to me, Red and blue just hits the hardest for me in term of groove over their latest album.
Playing "Teeth of a Cogwheel" on my phone I keep thinking I got a score change alert from ESPN.
A band of legends
This band is really good
i saw them live at graspop this year, it was fcking sick!
Absolute Masterpiece
This album kicks so much ass. I feel late to the party with this band.
Tremendously cool sound❤
Pura Vida!
People saying the intro is boring don't get it and never will
soo damn beautiful
life changing
Happy B!! 12th lovely
nice album
Check out "Causa Sui" if you dig this
They're awesome; good tout sir.
Cool band. I listen to them since quite a while but is something totally different than this. More on the Psychedelic Rock spectrum than Metal.
An Ad right before the transition from Pinion to the Birthing. Sweet Baby Jeezus make it stop.
This is awesome
*ISAK!!*
The good old days
This album struck me as commercial when it came out initially as I had been used to listening to Baroness First and Second - the good ole days 😂
The Power of Single Coils!

Wally P Harrwinkle 000 listen to Blue one of the best Rock records of the last couple of decades
@@Arawadewiseman just heard. It somehow tops red record!
Wally P Harrwinkle 000 it’s a quantum leap.
YES
Nice 👌🏻
Just came here as a palate cleanser. Just got done listening to King Weed.🤮Need to restore my faith in humanity for 45 minutes.🤘
Hmmm, give Elder a go, if you haven't already. Especially 'Gold And Silver Sessions' 😉
Who designed the album art?
John Baizley, the vocalist and one of the guitarists.
He does all the album art I think... It's magic
It reminds me to Mucca and the art nouveaux
Bombulous Romulous
progressive
The band sound great not sure bout the vocalist first time hearing this band
WOW

woof!

Wrong.
sell your fenders and come back
For the longest time I thought this band was called 🅱oneless
that's a little embarrassing but still a cool band name
Take my Baronesses away
Take my bones away. Lol
They're definitely bone-in.
Leader singer was Ivar
29:15 Aleph brought me here.
2008 brought me here!
FIRST..... YAY IM COOL NOW!!!!
deathmonger420 ok then. I'm the first one to like your comment.
cool beans
Yeah!! My hero!!
Don't get your hopes up!
when does it start
I love this sooo much...
Going from red to yellow/green is the equivalent of being catfished by a band. I felt dirty...used...deceived.
Bobby Warren yellow and green was a great record.

Solid tone dudes

Why is the quality on this and their spotify version of the album so bad compared to listening on CD?
