They were going to make her a main character, which is what Angus wanted, but the producers convinced him to have Milo and his family be in the spotlight and reduce Susie to a side character. Maybe if they knew that she would become the most beloved character in the whole show, they would of thought differently.

I know I'm not the only one, but I always found the awkwardness and straight forwardness of Suzie to be rather endearing. The part where she stumbles in justifying bringing large box (I think she said box, unsure) was incredibly relatable and kind of cute honestly.
