Definitely think the screaming voice he hears at night is his own conscience regretting him leaving his home. When he tells it to shut up, he’s come to the conclusion he needs to return home.
That's what I got too. It takes a second before you realize "hey why doesn't he deal with it?"
This is one of my favorite videos on RUclips that I find myself constantly coming back to. For me the part that brings me comfort is that the cat can go and have an adventure, his family still loves him and are looking for him. And when he decides to go back home, they accept him back no questions asked. I think everyone wishes they had someone, a family to run to when things get too hard.

I think the meaning behind this cartoon is that there is no deeper meaning, everything should be taken literally
The cat shrugging the screaming off with "it's not my problem" and the screaming going away for the rest of that night kinda implies that it's actually his inner guilt of escaping his home not allowing him to find peace.

"Cat City is a movie about a cat who runs away from home to start a new life in the city. The cat is trying to live on his own, but his life away from home isn’t what he imagined it would be. Despite his initial success, he becomes disillusioned by the whole ordeal rather than finding fulfillment or happiness. He becomes depressed due to lack of sleep and the repetitive nature of his life, and he turns to alcohol to cope with the stress. It all goes downhill from there. I wanted to portray a world where a character’s experience in the physical world is a reflection of their emotional turmoil. In a way, it parallels my own experience of growing up and leaving home to pursue what I thought was my dream, and then slowly realizing it wasn’t what I thought it would be."

Love this artist, his videos are either to be taken almost literally, in a playful perspective, or terribly complex, full of simbols that let you identify with the characters. Either way, this lucid dream atmosphere has become a drug for me.
He changed so much and tried so hard to escape something positive in his life for freedom. A trade off that sounds terribly bitter sweet. And to come home defeated and genuinely lost to open arms.. Feels good man. Feels bad man.

The animation and the surreal angles and drawing style are sooooo amazing!! ✨
The story is basically, the adult life when you move out of home. The depiction is clear, too lazy to explain but. You want something, then work. Living alone, having fun at night. But the city life is noisy, unpeaceful. An everyday repeat, occasionally there's something new, but otherwise it's just a repeated cycle in that life. Girl finding the cat is your first home before you grown out, your parents or loved ones, theyre missing you everyday. City life as an adult is fun, you could do everything you want as long as you can, but some things just get tiring, especially when everytime it's like that, unless it's your passion. I don't have anything against barbers, but clearly, some jobs you work on is not really want you want or your passion in your life, some of us are just forced on circumstances.
