What’s the best way to get in touch with you @ChrisMaherDYI?
@ChrisMaherDIY I must say, I remember one day randomly researching the difference between regular LED Strips versus Addressable and came across you. Since then, I have literally watched all of your videos (and I’m not a guy that sits on RUclips). I’m not an expert but I used to work for an LED sign Company in the early 2000’s (Indoor/Outdoor and Tickers for sports, news, stocks, weather, etc) and I’m fascinated with how far the technology has come. My wife will not let me go over $500 on my first project so I wanted to ask you if this would work (just trying to do as much quality (with quantity) and no junk. So, I was thinking on starting with the cheap Govee 3 Lite just to add as many strips as possible). So, I wanted to grab that and add lighting to it, is there any way I could do that and use the data to connect more LED’s than just the strip for behind the tv? That would save a couple hundred dollars and add with that instead of a Fancy LEDS Sync Box, I could add the recessed lights in the playroom. Then I’d be able to add some Pro 2 or the ones already diffused. Side note, I already have a controller, power supply and some diffusers (all with clicks for you) so I would like to grab some SK6812 or 2812’s from BTF Lighting and use them for the stuff I already have. Then maybe that’ll leave some room to add something else. But the main thing is being able to communicate to more LED’s from the Govee 3 Lite (then in the future, spend more in a Sync Box). I’m a huge fan and keep up the great work! Also, is there a better way for me to communicate via chat or anything?
Got my fancyleds sync box last month, absolutely love it. Thanks for the video, Chris. Might need to pick these up aswell.
how are you still liking your FancyLeds? im debating on getting one.
This is super impressive. Thanks for the info and the black friday links.
I got the Govee SyncBox and a couple floor lights. I love the vibe.
Congrats on the new house, all the lighting looks fantastic 👍
Thanks for watching! We really love it!
Dude, this is probably the only comment you’re gonna get pertaining to this. But I’m watching your videos as I’m becoming a RBG nerd. And I noticed your Wi-Fi router you named is, Jesus loves you. That’s awesome man! Mine says Jesus is Lord. Anyways, just wanted to give you a compliment merry Christmas! 🎉
Just discovered your channel while researching the Hbada E3 Pro. LOVING your content! Subbed!
Thanks so much for the kind words! Glad you're enjoying the videos and thanks for the sub!
I’d love to see a comparison between these and the Govee HDMI Sync Box.
I'm hoping to do a comparison video at some point! It will be an epic battle!
@@ChrisMaherDIY AND Philips Hue Gradient play strips!
And the new sync box of Philips hue
This is a good video comparing all 3!
ruclips.net/video/K4a7gd_3fCs/видео.htmlsi=q2kVB2a1GWC9Bym5
Had both. Both returned and refunded. None of these device supports HDR/DV. GOVEE displays some weird colours in dark scenes like green etc. Fancy Leds can't display Orange colour displaying green. Both are crap and the price is just not relevant to the quality.
Maybe a sudpid question. But how do you power up the other 2 strips?
The sync lights come with a small box that connects to WIFI and is powered. He must have a plug under the ledge to plug them in.
Happy Black Friday Chris.
Fyi you can't extend the fancy synced lights. Only maybe a couple get extra before the signal cuts off.
Do you need to buy another sync box with it as well or does it work standalone?
Hey Chris, what was the ship time like for you? I am still waiting on mine and getting no accurate tracking through USPS. Thanks love the channel!
Chris- Can you do a review of Lutron’s new Lumaris Tape Lights?
Thanks for the idea! I'll have to take a look at them!
Thanks Chris- we’re rebuilding our home after the 2018 Woolsey Wildfire and trying to finalize the lighting and home automation pieces. We’ll be using Lutron for for the smart switches and shades and debating whether to keep continuity with a Lutron ecosystem or if it’s better to use Govee for under cabinet and upwash room lighting and try to make it all work with Home Assistant.
@@mx6773 I've only heard good things about lutron so my guess is the new tape lights will probably be solid! I'll see if I can get my hands on some!
bro wled with hyperion would be a great option
you can even use 144 Led per meter
and also you can sync it how ever you want to
Thanks! Definitely going to try it at some point! I did already go the diy route using signal RGB. Not quite the same as Hyperion but a similar concept.
For the strip lights on the floor did you use crown mold? Looking to do something similar so my LEDs give me an ambient vibe vs directly seeing the LEDs..
Is there a way to sync this with wled?
Who is this artist Arcade Nights and why can't I find much information on them or any of their music on YT?
Looks like they are almost there, if it could connect directly to the box and you could configure the strips location better it would be perfect.
That said I don't have a fancy living room cabinet like that so would be straight lines for me, just that 2.4ghz wifi works horribly in my area.
Yeah having the option to connect to the box would be great! Good Internet definitely helps with products like this. Thanks for watching!
You should open up your fireplace and put some leds in there too... I did it on mine and I love it. I have a demo on my page... 😊
I actually used the diffusers you recommended when I installed mine
Great minds think alike! That was next on my to do list! I just watched your video and it looks incredible! For sure adds to the setup. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
@ChrisMaherDIY amazing! I look forward to it!
@@Mike335ischecked out your LED vids. Very nice!
@BruceLeroyUK thanks!!
Earlier this year you did a video where you talked about a wireless HDMI device. Can you tell me what device you recommended or what video it was?
Good memory! Here is the video: ruclips.net/video/oJSHDFETdV8/видео.html and here is the wireless hdmi device I used: Wireless HDMI: amzn.to/44t7Ms1
Chris, what do you use to cut your diffusers?
I've used a miter saw before but in this video I just used some aluminum cutters. amzn.to/49lz5Hd
Love the video! The lighting is amazing! I have a 120 in screen for a UST projector what do you recommend for ambilight solution for this situation? Thank you so much.
You could use this setup and use their led strips to build it out! I also did more of a diy option with my 120" ust setup that you should check out: ruclips.net/video/oJSHDFETdV8/видео.html
Hi great post, looks amazing. I've just bought the Fancy LED's 2.1 with 3 HDMI, setting it up over the weekend connected to the Samsung S95C 77". I did have the Govee with the camera, which did a job but the Fancy LED's are going to take it to a whole new level. I am thinking about purchasing the Fancy Neon, can you advise if the Neon Strip can be twisted/bent at a 90 degree angle to fit around the corner of a TV stand.
What do you think of the Fancy LED 's 2.1?
Which do you recommend more? The Lytmi fantasy 3 or this??
what about the new GoVee 2.1 box?
I'm hoping to do a comparison video at some point down the road since I now have both! It would be a fun video to do!
I have an 85 inch Sony TV. the dimensions are 74 x 43 inches which will be 19.5 feet of led's which is more than the 5 meters. What's the led strip type I would need to buy to extend it? I will probably need power injection for that many led's. Can I use a separate power supply to do the power injection? Would I need to connect the ground of the separate power supply to the ground from the Syncbox power for that to work? Thank you for any help or suggestions.
Thanks for watching. Their sync box includes lights to put behind your TV. The 75 to 95 inch kit included more than 5 meters and will be enough to go around your 85 inch Sony TV.
@@ChrisMaherDIY Thank you! Your channel is awesome.
Can the Hue Sync app be used? I think it currently looks a bit too intense since all the light transitions are instant
No it won't work with hue. You can turn the transitions down on the sync box so it's less sudden. Definitely a personal preference.
Is this something you would have turned if you were watching 'regular' TV like the evening news or a program like Chicago Fire?
Will you make a video on the Govee AI Sync Box 2?
Great video, love your setup! Could you tell me the model number of the muzata diffuser, i am going to do something similar but want to come from the edge of the walls toward the tv. Im thinking it may help fill the whole wall, i have an 85" centered on my wall with about 3 feet from each side. I already have the tv lit up with the 2.1 box and waiting for delivery of the neon to go behind entertainment stand below tv. If i buy the fancy strips then i will get the diffuser. Thank you for any info you can share!
Actually after looking at your video again maybe pointing in at the TV from the outside wall is a bad idea?
Interesting program. I was all aboard until I saw the monthly fee with no option for 1x purchase. I can't justify a monthly fee for lighting. That led me to finding Open RGB. Hopefully its as or close to the ease of setting up. Maybe you could help us out on it?! Great content on your channel, have inspired myself and many more, Thanks!!
Thanks for watching and appreciate the kind words! These definitely don't have a monthly subscription. Everything they sell is a 1x purchase. Where are you seeing a monthly subscription?
@@ChrisMaherDIY Im sorry, your correct in regards to no subscription. I likely confused Signal rgb pro, My mistake. After a while of researching options I likely referred to a wrong window I had opened. Time for a break from my keyboard! Thanks for clarifying.
@garymarma6005 no worries! I was very confused! Also signal RGB does have a subscription option but the screen mirror functionality that I did a video on is all part of their free option.
@@ChrisMaherDIY Have you looked at Open rgb. If so any comments?
Why is your fireplace not synced yet?!?! lol
Lol it's been on my mind! It would actually be amazing if I could do it. We shall see!
Do you prefer this or govee so sync box 2
It's a close call. Hoping to do a head to head comparison video at some point since I now have both installed to really get a good idea of how they stack up against each other.
Waiting for year when these will work with android tv builts in apps
Is it compatible for PC
Hi chris , I'm a big fan of your content! I've noticed some variations in your tone lately. Is all well?
Thanks! I'm doing good other than a nasty cold that has destroyed my voice! I'm starting to feel better but my voice is still pretty gone. Thanks for asking!
Take care
Can i do a strip underneeth the cabinet in a square?
Hello I have fancy leds but i must say , Dolby vision have issue with oversaturate color, Medium and high setup is almost the same... you have the same issue?
I’ve been debating the Bravia 8 VS the C4 myself. I’ve watched many reviews, but they never mention the speakers as a selling point for the Bravia 8. Would you consider a video about how you came to your purchasing decision?
Lol I have a long answer but the short answer is i think the Sony a95l is the gold standard for OLED TVs and the difference between the a95l and the Bravia 8 is noticeable, but not by much. The c4 also looks good but I trust Sonys software more than lg in terms of upscaling and motion smoothing technology.
Does this work with the apps in the TV such as netflix?
are you sold as well my dude? this page supposed to be about diy inexpensive stuff, or am i mistaken?
Thanks for watching! Tons of people like diy stuff and tons of people like plug n play products. This might be more your speed if you like diy stuff. ruclips.net/video/oJSHDFETdV8/видео.html
Sick!
Because of your review I replaced my Govee systems that uses a camera with FancyLeds. I am mostly satisfied however, my leds don’t turn off when parts of the screen goes black, and just shows a dimmed color which everyone talks about and doesn’t like. My theory is that it depends on the tv and if your TV’s dimming zones and how it’s executed. It’s dependent on how a tv shows true black. Anyway that’s my theory and I hope there is a fix for it. If anyone has input or ideas please comment.
It works only with devices that connected to the syncbox, right? It's not gonna work with native smart tv apps
Nope
Does the SyncBox take into account colored walls? I want to make sure accurate color is depicted.
Hello Chris, I'm putting WLED lights in a tray ceiling. They will reflect off of the ceiling no direct viewing. I'm I put WS 2815 LED strips on a prior project and they work fine but in my trey ceiling I wanted to have a dedicated white channel, Looking at BTF lights 5050 have RGB plus a cool white and cold and only half the price of WS 2815 I'm curious as to why the 5050 which has their own dedicated white channel are cheaper than the WS 2815 Anyone have any answers for me Is there any downside to putting in the 5050 RGBW?
Assuming these aren’t compatible with HA? Sure I asked this in the last video about these so I apologise!
Thanks for watching! I have not tried using this with HA so I'm not sure. It is comparable with Alexa and Google home.
Thanks for the forecast! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Take note it does not work with pc flawlessly. You get flicker from time to time
Is it possible to run this as a service and ambient reactive lighting for Tv and game setup do you recommend? I enjoyed your custom that you personally setup better but if fancy lights gives the same affect and I’m just gullible then so be it then lmao.
What*
This works great for gaming and TV. But not for internal tv apps. You have to have an HDMI device. If your a PC gamer you could run your HDMI out to this and then to the TV or monitor. Hopefully they will make a display port version at some point!
These look great, it's a shame they are so expensive tho
Thanks for watching! It's definitely not cheap but it is half the price of what Philips charges for theirb ambilight setup
The voice ia in the video translates the voice of the song at the end of the video and it is very annoying to hear a robotic voice covering the original song.
Great video indeed.
Thanks for watching and glad your enjoyed the video! Lol yeah I think that's a feature RUclips is trying where it automatically dubs the video into different languages.
Please. They refunded me admitting the device is not capable of displaying colours accurately in HDR content. 🤦
I bought this and realized I have a green accent wall... Doesn't work well . Don't use this on anything but a white wall lol I'll save you money
Why is it German by me???😢
looks like lytmi
Thanks for watching!
Fpizdu za 300 baksov sebe eto zasun'
We have the same WiFi name, Jesus loves you.
Amen brother!! Thanks for watching and hope your have a blessed day!
Product. Strip is cheap. If you lift it to adjust, breaks the led strip connection. Will not issue refund due to this.
Thankfully I have not had to pull them up. I know in the past when I've have to pull btf-lighting led strips out of their track, they have also broke. Did yours break at a solder point?
Hi Damere, our support team to look into this, and can see that you reached out but did not respond to our follow-up. A malfunction like the one you described generally leads to a prompt resolution, such as a replacement. I kindly request that you follow up on our team's response so we can resolve this as soon as possible. We’re sorry for the inconvenience you’ve experienced!
I'll never be a fan of those ambilight sync setups. Incredibly distracting, but the tech itself is nice.
True, the lights take too much space in the room. Espacially with small displays
Ikr, never been a fan of it, only would turn it on if it was background content
Thanks for watching! Have you seen something like this in person? I know it's for sure not everyone's style.
That's because everybody is overdoing it to make it look shinier for RUclips. Just the TV and maybe the bottom one and it really adds to the experience without being to distracting. :D
@@CrazyPat3000 nah, the standard Philips ambilight which is only the TV is already driving me crazy if it isn't a really chill program
Not even gonna watch it all. Too expencive for the regular person in today economy. We can't all have them sent to us for free or significantly discounted.
Don’t be rude just because he’s doing a review of a product you can’t afford. This is for people who really want the tv ambiance with an easy setup. Ease = Pricey, always has always will
I bought a fancyleds 2.1 sync box and it has blackout issues whenever gaming at all unfortunately and their support team refunded me but left me in limbo on whether or not they will send me another box or if i should purchase again.
