How to clean your smoking pipe the right way

- After smoking some CBD flower, my little pipe gets so dirty. After a month or so of use, it really starts to build up this black sticky CBD resin. It makes the smoke taste worse and I'm not a doctor, but it certainly can't be healthy having a dirty pipe.
How do you actually clean your bong/pipe the right way?
Long story short: Use alcohol and salt. Mix a healthy amount of salt in some isopropyl alcohol and go to work. The alcohol will dissolve the CBD resin and take away the stickiness. The salt helps by getting into the small hard to reach places and adds some friction to mechanically remove the CBD ash.
Personally, this is the best method I've ever found for cleaning any sort of hemp or cannabis smoking tool. If you have a better way, leave it in the comments.

take your poker, put it through the center hole of your bowl slam it down a few times, and the bottom piece comes out. There are 2 dots, they must line up to use your pipe.

This is an effective method of cleaning a brass pipe. I would suggest you remove the rubber mouth piece if you're going to do this often as it may lose elasticity and start to not fit right.
Brass in glass, tumbling around?? Bad idea. Should use a shallow platic container, like the ones lunchmeat comes in.

I clean mine about the same. I pop out the tar trap, and run a prickly pipe cleaner through the mouthpiece tube as well. You can get pipe cleaners at most smoke shops for cheap.

I have owned my Proto pipe for about 40 or 50 years. I've never cleaned it like this and it looks like brand new 24/7.
What's your way to clean it?
I followed the directions and I have been doing it basically that way since I purchased it.
I also found that alcohol and pipe cleaners also work

Been cleaning these pipes for years with a q tip and a pipe cleaner in 91%. No soak time needed.
Question…the manufacturer of the protopipe says to use olive oil to bind the cbd and clean it out. Thoughts on this ?
The best way to clean. #1, pipe cleaner.
#2, cut wire hanger about 5 inches long. Take match, bend in half and push thru. Better then pin.
Ya know those Pp pipes are designed to completely come apart. it's easy. Also let it soak a bit it does better with stains.
Would Vinegar work? Or, would that damage the brass?
Put the poker in the center hole and knock the resin trap out of the bottom to clean it better

Using alcohol with a pipe cleaner and cotton swabs, wastes far far less alcohol. Dude, you’re wasting so much. Also use the stem to pop out the bottom of the bowl and get the resin out. Hope the helps.
Will I ever be able to buy a pack of plain Jane in a physical store? Wish I could get it at my local gas station or CBD shops.

Try Grundge Off. I put brass and glass pipes in a ziplock baggie overnight with Grundge Off just enough to cover the pipe. In the morning I run it under HOT water. This stuff makes dirty pipe look like new inside and out. I'm not sure that I would put a metal pipe in a glass jar and shake it to get it clean.

I just get really stoned once the tar catch starts to clog. Then I scrape out the still warm bowl into an ashtray with the poker, takes a little under 5 mins. Then I remove the tar trap and run a poker through the mouthpiece into the inside of the pipe and wipe it with a napkin. Depending how bad it is I may repeat this part a couple times. Then I just clean off the poker, wipe out the inside and finally wipe out the tar trap. Every 5th or 6th time I'll grab a couple of q tips and a pipe cleaner to clean off everything with a cap full of rubbing alcohol. It all takes less than 10 minutes without solvent, a little under 15 if you use a solvent to get a cleaner result.

You can also run some of these long flexible fuzzy things through the passage way to get the crap out of the flow tube.
I think those things are called PIPE CLEANERS!
You can usually snag some from kindergartners cause they play with them at kindergarten to make animals and objects de' crap!
Walmart sells them too in of course, the crafts aisle!!!!
They really help move the salt and alcohol around and break up blockages you can't readily see!
