Peter Criss and Stan Penridge Love Gun demo's Original Recording: 1977 Produced by: ??? 01 Love Bite(3:15) Criss / Penridge02 Hooligan(2:17) Criss / Penridge musicians : Peter Criss (lead vocals, drums) Stan Penridge (guitar, bass) NOTES : Recorded at Record Plant studios, early 1977. According to Stan Penridge, both songs were written the same night.
Sounds like “the Bo Diddly beat/rhythm”. Yes, very tribal-type sounding and very cool! It’s been used on a bunch of songs over the years. It was used on that early 80’s song, “I want candy”, but sped up/played faster. Eric Carr even used it, on “escape from the island” song instrumental, on The Elder album.
Funny how it was just Genes demos on the Love Gun Deluxe edition. Why isn't this on it and whatever else Paul, Ace n Peter may have done. Pretty soon Gene is going to say he single handedly recorded and wrote all the songs on every kiss album ever made.
Listening to this I'm really surprised that Peter was right for the band...he played like a wild man in the 70s..badass, it's just his style and musical taste is so different from the music they played in kiss.. Also I always hear Gene and Paul say that Peter was a horrible drummer, why would they give him the gig if he was so bad?? I love Peter's singing voice, songs like Hard Luck Woman and Black Diamond show how good he was...I'm not a fan of this tune tho. Cool to hear anyways!! Ace Gene Peter Paul= Kiss!!
I agree. Peter was a really soulful drummer. Pretty wild as well around the alive era. Why they put him down musically is just heartbreaking. Bunch of bullshit as well. Paul in his biography compared Peter to a chimp. Which is amusing, really, considering chimps sing better than Paul right now. Maybe Peter was a real jerk to them or whatever but no matter how mad you are at someone you can't hide the truth about someone being a great musician. Awesome voice as well. My 2 cents :) cheers
you gotta realize...these demos aren't the finished product. Listen to the demo of Dirty Livin...from Dynasty, then check out the song on the album, They're not as one dimensional....they're honed and worked on..
I hear a bit of Queen influence in this song. It could've been cleaned up and turned into a bluesy rocker. But, they were limiting Pete to Hooligan on this record.
I like this just how it is, but had it been turned into more of a straight-ahead rocker, this song would have been a welcome addition on Love Gun, and then they could have left off the horrendous cover song.
I listened, puked, brushed my teeth, drank gingerale, and thanked Jebus Peter only sang a few times with KISS. Utter garbage. New York corner doo wop hsit! Do not eva eva eva sound this bad again Peter. I go wash my starfish now.
What great vocals from Peter , hell yeah 👍
If you're not a Peter Criss fan don't comment on his page that's for him and his fans!!!
stacye white or just accept others have different views to you and quit trying to censor them.
if people can bash on the current band on current vids whats the difference?
@@benambrazaitis4245 Difference being current kiss is half a tribute band and they are just limping through it now.
Warchief01 Ace & Peter sold their rights, blame them
stacye white this isn’t Peters page 😂
Damn this blows his song on love gun away! !
Got a little "Hand Jive" ring to it.
This is great could you imagine this done all the way WOW
With an Ace solo in there I could hear this after Plaster Caster to end the album instead of Then she Kissed me even though i like that song
Yeah, it would have been better than Then She Kissed Me which in my opinion is one of their weaker tracks from this period.
Love this. Peters. Voice so soulful. Loves Aces. Guitar work on this. And Peters drumming is killer. Maybe Peter and Gene will play this on Vault tour
Gene,Paul & Ace aren’t on this recording. This is Peter Criss & Stan Pendrige.

musicians :
Peter Criss (lead vocals, drums)
Stan Penridge (guitar, bass)
NOTES :
Recorded at Record Plant studios, early 1977.
According to Stan Penridge, both songs were written the same night.
A cleaned up and refined version of this song would have been a perfect replacement for "Then She Kissed Me" on the Love Gun record...
God, yes! I wish Peter Chris had a second tune on that classic album.
Pete has that one voice you recognize anywhere anytime
doesn't surprise me that Kiss fans don't like this. Its funky and different . Probably over the head of a lot of people.
But is very good song !
He certainly has something funky going on. I like the background congo/bongo beat. Peter Criss Inspiration for the Copacabanna...

Astonishing they chose "Then She Kissed Me" over THIS! at least they went with "Then She Kissed Me" over "Sincerely" (check the Original Artwork)

much much better than Hooligan
Hell Yeah! Thank You to whoever uploaded this!
Song Bites!
Damn!!!!! Killing it!
This is a timeless melody made popular by Bo Diddley. There are a countless number of songs that have used it.
Love Bite!

"Yes because the true and the great KISS is with Gene Paul Ace and Peter"
peter; make a rock album! and include some of these songs. me also understand this one did not make it, but i may be good for a PC album
This could have been a great Van Halen song for late 70s Just imagine what Alex Eddie David and Michael could have whipped up with this
I could see this
Not bad. A lot better than some of the dross that ended up on the Love Gun album.
Really cool to hear this!
But I also understand why it didn't make it to the record :-)
Recorded on electric lady studios 15-3-1977
peter criss: vocal-drum
gene simmons: bass
paul stanley: guitar
ace frehley: lead guitar
Oraliz Angeles .... Um.... NOOOOO.
Any KISS fan can tell Ace, Gene & Paul are NOT playing on this demo. Give us a break.
Dave Dave any fan can tell that is them, especially the licks at the end, sounds like Ace, you’re deaf.
Dave Dave starts at 2:10, you can really hear Ace laying it down.
COOL SONG!!!!!!

What?! This would have won KISS their second People's
Choice award! Big mistake not releasing it.

I'm sure Pete said it at least once. Probably thought side 4 of Alive II should have only been a drum solo, too.
THE ONE AND ONLY CAT MAN !! XX
Wow this is pretty different style for kiss...I like it ..should have been on an album. Or was it LoL
Hand Jive !!
Love the Catman!
"Very good rare track from KISS"
I hear a bit of Queen influence in this song. It could've been cleaned up and turned into a bluesy rocker. But, they were limiting Pete to Hooligan on this record.
Thanks to Mr huge ego Paul Stanley... this song wasn't on love gun !!!
This sounds like Lovin' Spoonful or something- not Kiss.
Would have made a great Rolling Stones song, too.
This might have been decent when beefed up with harder guitars and what not.
I like this just how it is, but had it been turned into more of a straight-ahead rocker, this song would have been a welcome addition on Love Gun, and then they could have left off the horrendous cover song.
Soulful. Add Kiss hard rock and it's a better song than Hooligan. I wonder if Paul put a stop to this getting on Love Gun.
Not too bad...funky sound, but would have been out of place with the Kiss sound back then. More of a solo album thing.
I listened, puked, brushed my teeth, drank gingerale, and thanked Jebus Peter only sang a few times with KISS. Utter garbage. New York corner doo wop hsit! Do not eva eva eva sound this bad again Peter. I go wash my starfish now.
This song doesn't fit with KISS. It's not bad..but it's not KISS style material.
I like Peter in general, his singing and playing...this song is not good enough to be in the record..just been objective.
Not a great song. Bad lyrics.
It could have been worked into something, maybe. But it would need a LOT of workof.
Horrendous. This sounds like a song a kid wrote in high school. Embarrassing. I don't know How Gene and Paul put up with this guy
This is horrible
Peter should never sing or perform ever again. Please, for the sake of humanity. This is further proof he was talentless.
peter doesn't owe anyone a rock album or anything he was Kisses best Drummer ever
you look at his vids though 😂
