You're killin' it. The Christopher Walken narration notes - cracked me up man... Wish I'd have known this trick a while back. I use MIDI items in a video window to show my notes, which is pretty cool. You rock as usual!

I clicked by mistake "floating kids", then all the children from the neighborhood where floating around the house and the wind blew them away. Now it's quite and nice. Super feature.

It works well but I always thought if we could make it a dedicated track type (text or something) that can be horizontally and vertically sectioned ( a table like format) to write things. I have been digging into the code lately to figure out a way to do it, the unfamiliarity with python has been a barrier but as soon as I wrap up my current project, i wish to work on this. Already have a solid UI design for it. I know reaper is not a notepad but I believe that something like this can increase the productivity.

You don't need a notes app. Reaper has a "project notes" feature that can be set to boot up with your project. I use it to write the key and main chord progression.
What wasn't so clear to me was how to make the text editor stay on top of reaper. It is worth repeating that it's the text editor that you need to make changes to, not in Reaper. For those using the alternative notepad2 in Windows, check the settings menu for the option "always on top." That combined with the "transparent mode" is worth trying.
Thanks Kenny, Related to this, I like to use the Help | Documents feature in Reaper, to open up a PDF related to my project. It works easily enough to just open it manually, from the menu, but I wonder if there is some way to Save a project, so that it will automaticaly open a PDF?

On Mac OSX Mojave and Reaper 6.38. Not seeing the option to float a window. Is that something specific to a newer version of OSX or a newer version of Reaper? Or do I need to change a preference in Reaper to see that option?
@@REAPERMania Yes. I figured out how to do it. I had to float the note in the Notes app. There wasn't an option in Reaper. Maybe I missed that wrinkle in the video.

The stock OSX Notes app has this feature. Conversely, the Simplenote app, which the one I typically use, doesn't seem to have that feature. Anyway, this is a very helpful tip. Thanks for it!
Please guys, do you know a way to keep a table (like an Excel), or some notes about some plugins on Reaper? Or, at least, a way to keep shortcuts to some external document files...?
hi there Kenny, I'm on windows and I've been trying over and over to make this work but the windows tab isn't there for me to float note pad? so i can't get past the first part of the video as i don't know how to float it without the windows option. any word back to fix this would be hugely appreciated as i can't find any other answers online about this online anywhere. i just want to use it to write lyrics as i go along. How do you launch the notes app. I hear you click it doesn't know what you do. I search for notes app but didn't find anything.
Mac or PC? The notes app is not a part of REAPER. You should have one that comes with your Mac or PC.

No. But you should have a notes app that came with your PC or Mac.
