As a new player, I have to say, I would prefer enemies have the hero name and not the player name displayed because skins. Some of the skins change the appearance to a degree that it's difficult to sight-recognize your matchups in real time from a roster of already not entirely familiar models. "Wait... Who the hell is tha- BEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAMMMMMMM ...ah...ok that's still that one, uh, forgot her name...." It's kinda tough.
they should add a streamer mode for new players yes. they may already have that tbh, but im not 100% sure. even valorant has a setting to turn on only agent names and val is a slow game and easy to recognize characters in. i agree with you!
I'm new to OW2 and Dva just stood out to me. With the first 2 mins of this video, your movement is on point and the way you flew up in the air and use her ultimate was 👌🏼
i’m high plat right now, videos like these are why i climbed. started at 800sr, climbed to gold in a season after studying dva. climbed to plat shortly after. been hardstuck ever since i quit trying, but now i’m on my way to diamond. thank you
i agree that it feels weird, but it definitely is not a nerf. i will probably make a video soon explaining how OP d.va is right now, shes probably one of the best tanks, but her playstyle has changed and i hope to share that with people in the short future.
Honestly fully agree with playing to learn. Goin be difficult at first but you'll start learning really quick. Started as torjborn and I've heard he's weak but I've had a lot of success basically just because I learned to play. Moving to dva because I'm loving the mobility. Thanks for the vid
Super helpful guide, I only got the game yesterday and noticed that I was being melted by the "Laser Lady" (Zarya) and was wondering why it wasn't being blocked by my shield. Thanks so much!
i just wanted to say that i am familiar with overwatchs concept due to my years of playing tf2 and the way that you made this guide and how you articulated everything was very very helpful for a “new” overwatch player. also if you have any recommendations on any characters for a new overwatch player that would also be nice lol. i’m also digging your guide.
hey man thanks so much! welcome to overwatch :3 im super glad you found the video helpful! i could recommend some things for other characters but i really specialize in d.va and the tank role in general. its all about preference though, if you want to tell me who you played in tf2 i can try to recommend some similar characters and explain why theyre similar and different, although i haven't played the game, im willing to do some research for you! i really want everyone to enjoy this game to the best of their ability. thank you for your support! and if you want more d.va specific guides, those are probably what my future videos are going to be about, and possibly other tanks. the other 2 roles aren't my forte LOL
tysm for this guide!! im new to ow2 but i used to play an insane amt of valorant so the ow gameplay was overwhelming, i rly like dvas playstyle and kit so i decided to learn more ab how to play her. this guide rly helped and i hope i can master that booster melee combo someday😭😭
ofc! you can do it, its a bit outdated im ngl, you dont necessarily have to melee INSTNATLY after boosting now that it doesnt cancel her boosters. hopefully i can make a youtube short or implement it into a future video on a new tech to get the most damage output! its funny bc i was an ow player at first then switched to valorant and it felt so slow to me, yet i still played it even though it seemed like such a different experience. keep up the grind dude ow2 will not disappoint! very rewarding.
Ive started playing OW2 as a complete noob, around 5 hours of DPS in I played a match as Dva and my friends say I already have the skill of a Gold Dva, IDK if thats good or not, but I feel like it can only go up as I see most of her mechanics are kind of easy/ game sense is natural to me
yes ! dva is a relatively easy character, but thats not to say shes too easy or doesnt have any skill ceiling. you can definitely get so much value out of dva investing time into her, and by the sound of it you're already on your way to top 500! keep up the confidence!
I’ve played Dva since ow came out and still watch these She’s quick, strong, has a ridiculous pistol even when your mech is gone. She’s easily my favorite to claim space with. Going to 2 wasn’t a bad change for me bc now it gives me a reason to be as aggressive as I am lol
I used to play overwatch just a little back then. My friend has pressured me into installing ow2 and so far i’m enjoying it. I played a quick play match as dva and dropped 32 elims with like 2 or 3 deaths. Most of the matches I usually have a positive k/d when playing dva. Although this may seem pretty good, I’m worried if I take the game more competitively I would begin to fall out. I’m having trouble understanding basic game sense and common strats but overall, great video! Thank you for helping me.
im so glad i can help! just try to have fun! games were made for people to have fun. ive struggled a lot with competitive burnout and honestly the best advice i can give you is just make sure you are having fun. care about having fun first, then care about your rank after, if at all. if you have fun, but you want to reach a certain rank, it will come with time. you're doing great! you got this!
Amazing guide, one of the best ones if seen, i played alot of fps games in the comp world like TF2,Valorant,COD,Warzone,etc. and im quite good at them, but OW is something else, its really fun and a guide like this helped me have some technices to try out on something i've never really tried and have even more fun than befor! btw do all of these tips apply to OW 2? Because in OW you could have more than 1 tank on your team and the 5v5 instead of 6v6 stuff like that.
i really appreciate the kind words. im really upset that some of these things are outdated now after playing overwatch 2 for about 2 weeks now. im going to be doing more d.va guides for ow2, and i hope to make corrections and also say what hasn't changed as well, because there are some things you can still do and take from this video! by no means is this video useless though, i would really be sad if i thought that LOL but i can confidently say these tips for the most part can still help, especially new players. if you'd like a better more in depth answer to your question, hopefully ill have more videos out soon!
I look up to you bro. I also want to be someone that others can look up to, so I appreciate the sincerity from the beginning. In any case, I was looking forward to getting back into playing Dva, I used her alot in OW1 Open Queue and QP. The new changes such as if you watch Stylosa's latest video mentions some latest changes and nerfs to top meta heroes: Dva is one of them. I hope that you can cover this in more detail and looking forward to more Dva content.
Just started playing overwatch because my friends wanted to play and Dva is the only character I’m good with. This guide helps so much and I feel like soon I’ll be ready to play ranked
Who is that actor you got there, they kinda pepega. Anyway amazing video like always my friend keep up the good work! A greaet last horah for OW 1 D.va
although this was recorded a while ago, i still think a lot of the information i talked about is still very relevant to overwatch in general! i hope you got at least one useful tip out of it.
As an osu player imma be real with you, it only helps with the “feeling” of your aim, your actual aim in game “3d” is mechanically different but it does help partially, specially hand eye coordination, but for some reason I always see ow players be cracked at osu for some reason so I guess it works (?) lol (tips were helpful btw thanks)
hanzo is a good option to dive but he is also someone who can favor in a matchup against you depending on if he saves his jump after u boost at him, he does a lot of damage and if he has a healer, its going to be hard to kill him. i didnt include him in good or bad matchups because that one is kind of just a skill diff but i definitely agree that he is a good target to go for sometimes!
ofc dude! im gonna be making more videos about it since her playstyle has changed a lot. tbh a quick tip you can implement into your games right now is using your ult more for getting your mech back if you die rather than trying to throw it in the get a big bomb. her health and damage output is so much more important in ow2 than it was in ow1, so that health bar is super important, if you have your ult, you get a second full health bar for free just by ulting and calling another mech. you can also use the call mech damage (i think 250) to deal damage in a fight too if your team plays around it and protects you as baby dva as you go in and call your mech on someone.
i would say that positioning in this game is still pretty important, and the things i mentioned still kind of apply to overwatch 2. unfortunately i think the flanking/annoying d.va can't really be possible in overwatch two. you would probably need more of a hybrid playstyle so you can make sure youre protecting your supports, but since they have more survivability in ow2, you don't need to worry about it too much. i'll hopefully explain this more in a future video!
LOL fr! you dont have to watch every part + the intro is still part of the guide, the preface in the beginning is just a disclosure for the content so people dont get mad its an "old take" LOL but eh people are really impatient nowadays and i guess i understand it
@@KiWiBD_ I have a question, I've been a dva main in ow1 and in ow2 since there is no more 2 tank comps, do you feel dva has fallen off a bit? Personally, I feel like she's pretty strong but she has to play alot more with her team.
@@paizurilife2442 i think shes the most broken tank rn tbh, although her playstyle is pretty diff from ow1 dva, shes really really strong rn just because she has the highest dps of any tank and she can get a second life just by ulting after she gets out of mech. the call mech damage is a great addition too, so you can still even get value off of using it.
I climbed to top 500 with this, don't check though.

As a dva main with 200 hrs in dva alone I feel like not having a main or off tank to support is the biggest nerf in overwatch 2. It feels weird.
i agree that it feels weird, but it definitely is not a nerf. i will probably make a video soon explaining how OP d.va is right now, shes probably one of the best tanks, but her playstyle has changed and i hope to share that with people in the short future.
