Brings back memories of many hours of Mario Kart on the Wii. Never realized how much I internalized those tunes. Love these gig vlogs! Keep on keeping on…
When I watch your Mario videos, always gives me the Revenge of the Nerds Talent Show vibes. Also, the walk to the venue is the hidden hole in the wall gem memory. Another great video. 😊
Great video, I can relate to the bandleader thing. It is a lot of work, but it gives a lot of fulfilment when you pull it off. Happy musicians + happy crowd = happy bandleader
7:28 says high stuff needs work and then *nails it* (in my book). Seriously, that take on it, I liked the extra bit of edge/unsteadiness. Just enough to be cool, but not too much. It’s like seeing a live big band and bracing for every crazy high note from the lead trumpet. Seriously, I loved that clip. tl;dr not like the recording, in the way you did it, is great in this case!
Ahh thanks so much. I guess it’s just not quite the sound I have in my head (maybe more from a roundness of tone standpoint more than a “clean thing”). I appreciate it!!
So I've been watching your videos for a little bit now and in your past vlog about Nashville I realized we have a lot of mutual contacts due to us both going to UNT and then out of nowhere in this video you show a clip of a mario band which is actually made up of alumni from a youth program I run in Melbourne, AUS. Such a small world!
I have no idea what the main instrument you're playing is called, but a) it's cool and b) really reminds me of Thomas the Tank Engine music in Series 1-2 for some reason! Great video as always! EDIT: DID I JUST HEAR THE BASSIST PLAY MY NAME IS MUD (by Primus) AT @5:39?
Bro....the video game music gig. I think you're right. There are GENERATIONS of people who love and continue to play video games old and new. I'm way older than you and I still go to Steam and buy shit and keep up with the game reviews. Are there orchestral live game gigs? Have you heard of John Zorn and specifically his COBRA game shows? You should know about Zorn and COBRA. This will pump you up, bro.
I play sax in my church worship band and I’m wondering if I should consider using an Aerophone. I would love to add orchestral and other wind parts in the mix.
If you're a side man then you don't get to do your stuff. When you're a band leader you get to make all the choices. It's tough to find the balance between the two
What are the electronic instruments you and the guy next to you are playing? They sound really cool, and I honestly have no idea how you get them to actually make noise 😂
Hello!!! First… You’re playing and process is amazing!! Also I wanted to know where you get your sheet music, are they your own arrangements or what???? Im trying to put together jam sessions but Im striggling to find music
@@FoolishFrankie Ooops, thought you wrote EWI, but actually you wrote EVI... looking it up now, very cool... it was great fun to hear a gig with electronic instruments used so that they fit the gig... thanks for another great video!
This gig is an actual group with the same people. Although, the last few months we’ve had to sub out someone every now and then due to people getting sick
Since its included dolphin shoals I have an excuse to ask 😅 what is a good range for a pro saxophonist? Both range typically expected and range that is highly recommended
@@FoolishFrankie fair enough lmao. Also just wanna say appreciate you hearting/commenting on people posts in the comment section, it shows you care about it more then the average RUclipsr.
Well to be fair we kind of rehearsed during soundcheck. But also we’ve played all of these songs as a group before (other than the new live scoring music)

I felt "YOU GUYS SKIPPED IT AGAIN" in my soul
LOL me too!!
They shouldn’t have skipped it! 😂
So happy when Frankie posts
🥺🙏🏻

I know right!! The music really soaks in. Thanks for watching I appreciate it so much 🙏🏻
5:02 is incredible

The halftime (i think) is so fire
Thanks for doing the Mario Kart Wii options menu music justice i eat that up
Ayyy of course that’s one of my favorites!
Good summary of the gig, I really liked it ^_^
Thank you Kinto!!
Gotta say this hypes me up to try to do this myself! I've always loved Mario Kart Music, super killer job man, the band sounds sick!
Dude thank you so much!! Your band would definitely crush something like this! I appreciate you checking out the vid man🙏🏻🙏🏻
When I watch your Mario videos, always gives me the Revenge of the Nerds Talent Show vibes. Also, the walk to the venue is the hidden hole in the wall gem memory. Another great video. 😊
❤️
7:20 it was his time to shine
You put the desire in those tires simply by your music that’s fire.
FANTASTIC!!! You sound so good on that synth sax, dude!
Thank you so much🥺🙏🏻
New Frankie vid! Get in here!
Ayyy:)
Man the communication is definitely something ❤.
Great video, I can relate to the bandleader thing. It is a lot of work, but it gives a lot of fulfilment when you pull it off. Happy musicians + happy crowd = happy bandleader
Very true🙏🏻
This is my dream gig. I don't have the skill for it, but it is.
Also, I feel for the intro skippers, that shit is muscle memory like you wouldn't believe.
You can do it!! Just gotta work at it a little at a time❤️
Ik said you hate being the band leader but it looks like you did a pretty great job! I love that everyone was vibing during twisted mansion😭
Thank you so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Agreed! From what we saw of him leading the sound check, that looked very relaxed and confident
Found this video from your vlog and holy crap this is so cool

I waited patiently for the Mario Kart lick and wasn't disappointed :)
:)
4:37 you have to release this track onto spotify. You guys absolutely nailed it
Thank you!!
So sick! Seems not very far away at all from what a silent film accompanying organist/pianist/pit orchestra would be doing. Way cool!
True!! Thanks for watching🙏🏻
Nice to see you take more of a bandleader role. You did great!
Thank you🙏🏻🙏🏻
I hope that they are the future!
Cool video nice one.
The runescape one caught me out, those songs still sometimes pop into my head from childhood!
Thank you! And ayyy yes that’s an iconic one:)
Is there one for Smash Bros? I’d so show everyone my new Lucina 😤
LOL dude we haven’t done a smash one yet but you could probably play in the band and compete at the same time and still dominate😂
This is so awesome!!!!
Thank you!
Fn eh, you guys sound phenomenal ❤
❤️🙏🏻

Woooaaahh that’s awesome!! Small world!
5:00 went crazy also great vid :) also like dolphin shoals was awesome im trying to learn it rn and the altisimo is hard
Thank you so much!! It’s definitely a challenge 😰
I love the aerophone, i really want to gig with mine still working on it :)
It’s a lot of fun!
Nice job frankie :)
Thanks:)
You’re kind of amazing
I appreciate the kind words🙏🏻
ALWAYS do cool to see you post. Are you coming to OSNYC tonight?? Disco cactus is playing the pre-jam set!!
I’m not:( I live in Pittsburgh so a little far but hopefully one day I’ll make it out to that!
Yaaaaaaaahhhhhhhoooooooooceeeeelllllllleeeeeeeennnnnntttttttttt
Such a cool gig!!!!
Man thank you!!
All these videos are the best!
Thank you so much 🥺
Bit Brigade been doing this shit for like a decade; the OG of the format AFAIK
True I’m definitely not the first person to do this
This is crazy
Babe wake up frankie uploaded
I hope Yoshi won. He's my favorite !
So dope
🙏🏻🙏🏻
You should do this but for a melee tournament
I’ve had people come up to me during these and ask if I would play for their smash tournament 😂
This might be the first time I've seen an EWI and an EVI playing together!
It’s a cool combo right!!
love your vlogs! also you look so much like the actor dominic monaghan when he was younger :D
Thank you so much!! And I’ve gotten that before😂
A very interesting gig man ...nice
Thank you so much for watching🙏🏻🙏🏻
This is awesome!
Thank you🥺🙏🏻
7:24 LET'S GO THE MARIO KART LICK
Hail ye, always love these kind of fun casual music vlogs
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Happy 4th from north of the border once again, Frankie! Great stuff
Hey thanks Duke you too!!🙌🏻🙏🏻
I guess it’s not a holiday for you…but I hope you have a good day regardless!
@@FoolishFrankie You too man! PS: Canada Day was 96 hours ago for us hahaha (yeah, I know - people get all confused about it on the Discord LOL)
Lmao “YOU GUYS DID IT AGAIN”
😂😂😂
The dude skanking in the back to mario cart music 😂
LMAO I know right
As someone who gigs with the ae-20 I feel you with that being on the wrong setting
My kinda bar fr fr
Sea Shanty 2....I'm such a freaking old nerd for knowing that tune. You're a nerd for playing it.
LMAOOO yesss let’s gooooo thanks for this🙈😂
The only difference.... it doesn't matter
Not sure what you’re referring to but I likely disagree. I care deeply about what I do
3:58. I was just quoting you my friend. I got a good laugh from that one.@@FoolishFrankie
OH lmao😂
Maybe that's why Johnny Hodges went back to Duke. Being leader wasn't for him 😂
Lmao😂
4:46: Enter creepy Adam
He always has the perfect sound😂
mk boiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. If i was in ur band, I would do half playing the game and my instrument
Not the RuneScape music 😂
Hehehe

Ok but how do you look like merry and pippin at the same time
I play sax in my church worship band and I’m wondering if I should consider using an Aerophone. I would love to add orchestral and other wind parts in the mix.
It could be cool for that!

A lot of times my “stuff” is the videos I make. So I’m happy to be a part of other people’s stuff:)
Is video games a typical genre that you’ve practiced?
This channel used to post a ton of Fortnite music forever ago lol
Yeah I’ve always loved video game music!
There's other vlogs of some video game conferences he's played at
Hey Frankie! Love your videos, wondering if you willing to sell the arrangements? Or sheets or whatever you use
I think my animal crossing arrangement is on my Patreon right now but if I ever post more I’ll let you know!🙏🏻
What are the electronic instruments you and the guy next to you are playing? They sound really cool, and I honestly have no idea how you get them to actually make noise 😂
They’re called wind synths! I think there’s a livestream replay of us playing and talking about them: ruclips.net/user/liveU73HRqa-T7U
your so cool
I appreciate the kind words🙏🏻
Hello!!! First… You’re playing and process is amazing!!
Also I wanted to know where you get your sheet music, are they your own arrangements or what???? Im trying to put together jam sessions but Im striggling to find music
Hey thanks! I wrote all of the arrangements
What does it mean that you live scored the last cup? You improvised based on the gameplay?
No if you listen to how the music goes in the game for those maps (including the course intro music etc) we play it to line it up with the gameplay!
What is the "trumpet" synth? Wow, crazy vocal sounds!
It’s called an EVI!
@@FoolishFrankie Ooops, thought you wrote EWI, but actually you wrote EVI... looking it up now, very cool... it was great fun to hear a gig with electronic instruments used so that they fit the gig... thanks for another great video!
Dude, what is that midi controller trumpet, and where can I get one???
I live streamed with Adam a few months ago and he talks all about it! The replay is on my channel!
Do you transcribe these yourself or do you get the charts from somewhere?
I write all of these out myself
Yo
Hi!
Do you play with different people every gig or you're an actual group? Just asking😊

6:58 is that the mario kart wii settings??????
Yeah the options music I believe!😂
How do you play gigs so well without rehearsing as a band??
Well to be fair we kind of rehearsed during soundcheck. But also we’ve played all of these songs as a group before (other than the new live scoring music)
I don't understand this.
Are you playing the video game track live as they play the game....?
