Thank you for this wonderful video! I’m 43 and just had my bottom left wisdom tooth and molar beside it removed last Monday morning. I have barely been able to get out of bed or off the couch from the excruciating pain that’s 24/7. I’ve seen my surgeon twice the procedure to see how he can help me. I just kept saying it’s all normal and I should have had these out before I turned 20. Unfortunately, that ship sailed 25 years ago...so let’s focus on what we’re dealing with here. I’m doing everything I can possibly find through medical journals and videos presented by other oral surgeons. My doctor seems annoyed with me being in so much pain. I ran out of my prescription pain meds mid-day of the second day home. I didn’t love them, but they seemed to be pretty much the only thing that softened the pain enough for me to rest for a short time. Other than that, I can barely drink (water, pedialite, decaf green tea, and ensure as a meal replacement considering I can’t chew a noodle. I’m just trying to figure out want is normal and not. He looked in my mouth and for about .10 and said nope, no dry sockets. He didn’t touch my face or anything. I tried to focus him on pain management, which I kind of got the impression he didn’t want me involved in. I told him I get a modest amount of relief from taking a Vicodin and rx. 800mg. Ibuprofen. When I left the office from my surgery he sent me home with a rx for six Vicodin. Needless to say, I went through them starting at noon on Monday taking the last on Tuesday night. These pills make me feel terrible and would rather be someone who can just take Advil and Tylenol in a situation like this, but the pain was excruciating. When I asked for another Vicodin prescription to help me get through the weekend (so I don’t end up in the hospital) he gave me a rx for four pills which included a lecture about addiction. I understand the opioid crisis is an incredibly serious problem, but it seem some doctors are not putting their patients needs first for fear of them mistreating the drug. I would feel similarly, but isn’t there a better way to identify people who are drug seeking beyond someone who is in agony and can’t speak from the pain? Sorry for the rant, I’ve just had a week of pain, frustration, and feeling hopeless to get this situation under control. If anything has any similar experiences or tricks for pain management, please, please let me know!❤️❤️
I am undergoing yhe similar situation like urs....it's 2 weeks the tooth have been extracted...yet I have pain and doc always keeps on saying it wl gradually go away.iam stuck wth the doc and the searing pai
I'm glad I got mines taken out because I couldn't deal with the pain and swelling in my left jaw it was starting to affect my life especially when eating too I'm glad consulted my dentist before it got really bad I actually feel a lot better than I did before it got really serious for me I'm waiting until next week to see if my recovery will go well
Had mine taken out about 48 hours ago, I definitely ate too many hard foods and actually had a track meet today. I need to chill out and let myself heal because right now I'm laying in bed, my face is as swollen as ever, and I'm in serious pain without the ibuprofen and hydrocodone.
@@sunleo6161 So, basically I felt some pain right after the procedure, which was quite annoying for a bit. But, soon after. (Like 30min later, cause I had to pick up my subscription ibuprofen) I got home & took the ibuprofen, & it calmed down the pain. Then I just stuck with the instructions, on taking my ibuprofen, and I honestly didn't feel anymore pain afterwards. The biggest pain I had, was before I even got my wisdom teeth out. The healing process was thankfully good on me, I didn't feel much pain at all, besides from the first day after the wisdom teeth extractions, & that only happened until I took the ibuprofen of course. Then I was all gooood
@@Luweezy Thanks! I have the surgery on Saturday, so less than 48 hours… I have an impacted wisdom tooth and I have to have parts of my jaw taken out. I’m 41 and my top wisdom tooth is coming in and scraping my cheek and hitting my teeth when I bite down. I don’t know why they are moving late in life I’m really nervous probably going to need them taken out. I have a question I know you are not a allergist but I have horrible allergies and I get bad mucus in my throat and my Eustachian tubes get plugged I can hear myself breathing I’ve been to drs tried Claritin with no help. Going to try Zyrtec. I’m worried this will interfere with healing process and it’s worse when I drink something is there a medication you give your patients to help and have you ever dealt with this as I’m extremely nervous thank you
Is an impacted tooth a harder procedure? I really can't afford to do surgery so I'd have to go to a dentist and just get numbed. I know it's his job and he has experience but I'm just so anxious I don't feel like I trust people cutting my mouth. What even scarier is getting bone removed. If my tooth is impacted does that mean I got to get bone removed to? Just thinking about all that makes me anxious and sick
Ik this is super late, but I'd think it would be harder to remove cause of having to remove surrounding bone to get to the tooth. Read it can hurt quiet a bit too and take more time to heal than if it were erupted. It'll also cost more. So sorry you cant get the iv sedation. I'd be nervous af too. If you already went through it, I hope it went ok for you.

I just had my 2 wisdom teeth on my right hand side taken out and I’m wondering if I should just get the 2 on the left out as well, they don’t hurt I feel that the imbalance of teeth on each side could affect how I bite down and chew with my jaw
I just had all 4 of mine extracted yesterday morning and there is plenty of pain, especially on the bottom, but keeping calm and straight on meds (no overdosing on anything) has been fine this far, but getting that out of the way is best IMO
I'm getting all 4 out in 4 days. I'm nervous af but damn, cant stand the pain. Imo, I'd have your other ones taken out too. Like, you dont want to have issues later on you know? And yeah, I'd think it would be weird like you said, unbalanced.
@@midnightblue1031 true I suppose I’ll keep them in for as long as possible if they’re not causing any pain at the moment .
