@@NorthernLaw_ Oh shit macro keys could be an excellent addition. They could do 2 styles, numpad version to "daisy-chain" on either sides, or a longer version to go at the top. I can see this helping with productivity too.
Yea, I've been running the Sidewinder for years bc I love the modularity. I'm looking for a new keyboard. I want TKL frame, modularity, RGB, wrist rest, and Cherry MX switches. However, there is no way in hell I'm forking out $270+tax for this when my Microsoft Sidewinder is still solid.
I have always had to choose TLK so my arms can closer together when gaming = better for ergonomics! Now I can finally put the numb pad on the left side with an extended cable and both TLK and numbpad = best of both worlds!!
Why? Some of the highest quality keycaps out there like GMK are double-shot ABS. The "shine" issue is way overblown. You won't get noticeable shine until years of consistent use and even then it doesn't look bad, it just looks a little glossy. The only real issue with these keycaps is that they are super thin
Numpad on the left side. That's how keyboards should have been to begin. Really love how this keyboard gives you the flexibility to have it however you want.
Detachable, tethered , bi-directional numpads man, thats awesone. Mountain should consider making the media control addon pluggable to the numpad and sell that as a standalone set with software
Cost cutting....? ah no. Like the look of it or not (I think it looks sick) CNCing is the most expensive way to fabricate metal outside of 3D printing it.
@@PhillioDoede I don't know if its as expensive as it used to be. I mean CNC is mainly about the ramp up (getting more and more units). It will always be more compared casting it. But I am not sure once you have the amount of CNC machines to keep up with regular steady demand, its any worse than going through the smelting and pour casting process. Less oversight and danger as well.
I don't know what realm you are from but CNCing aluminum is a pain in the dick and supremely fucking expensive. Anyone who is remotely in the industry knows this. The only thing more expensive is 3D printing aluminum and those machines are only seen in huge specialized shops and labs.
Much respect for this product! I've got several mech keyboards and this one might be my next purchase, I'll have to think about it because I'm very comfy with my cheapest keyboard right now.
I've been wanting a numpad on the left side for so long. Ever since i got the G15 from Logitech, ive been used to macro keys on the left side. And thats what made me go for the Corsair K95 as well, but it is waaaaay too expensive. This keyboard has the same idea, but the price is much too high. You'd be better off getting a Redragon Mech for like 50$, get a mech numpad too, to a hub and you're good to go. For a fraction of the price. The little screens are cool but feel like a useless novelty
It appears to share some of the design methodology of the old Sidewinder X6 keyboard, which ALSO had a detachable number pad that could be attached to either side of the board.
Could be interesting, but I would expect Durgod Hades and Ducky One 2 SF to be better in pretty much everything, except maybe availability. But this can be great for making 65% keyboards more mainstream and therefore cheaper in long-term.
Someone FINALLY did it. I've been missing my old Sidewinder keyboard with swappable numpad (on the left for macros is the only way to game). But it does a couple years ago and I got hooked on a hotswap mechanical. This is both? Done.
So essentially what Corsair should have released with the K100. That ICue button dial is mind boggling. Why would anyone need access to that on the fly. Great job

I like the modularity, especially being able to put the numpad on the left side or to hang it off a cable - great for gaming, especially with those macro keys. The media dock shows potential but I reckon it needs plug-in capabilities or programmability to make it interesting and useful (and at least backlight those buttons!). I'll wait to see what version 2 brings. How rigid is the body when the numpad is plugged in? Say you lift it up to move it, would it flex or break apart?
After using the controversial Touch Bar on my (work) MacBook Pro, I really grew to love it and use it a lot. Really like this dial controller to give me something effectively similar for my PC as well.
I own a Razer huntsman elite , and this keyboard might be the only one I will switch to. 1- you can swap the switches man this is legendary feature it should be on every gaming keyboard, worst case I will try to find optical switches to match my huntsman elite feel and buy this keyboard so I didnt compromise on the feel nor the speed of these switches. 2- you can swap the numbed place which is Very annoying to me as I need the extra space the TKL provide but at the same time I cant buy TKL as I game + work on the same pc. 3- the wheel on top gave me the idea that they might release a screen similar to Elgato that will be amazing for streaming, recording even editing and workstation usages with custom logo keys/functions. 4- the ability to add things on the left side of the keyboard is another amazing idea, which I really hope they consider making tons of add-ons such as fan , display , huge touchpad like the Magic Trackpad "apple" also maybe go partner with Wacom make that amazing sketch tablet optional OR they dont need to because it is usb-c :D if there is a Wacom tablet that use usb-c then done its solved it will work already on the left side or right whatever you preferhhh its very awesome keyboard, they can add a numbed that is just like stream deck from Elgato, basically 9 screen buttons or 12 :) and you customize it , so you buy that add-on instead of the numpad if you stream. or they make a simple usb fan the possibilities are limitless to their modular design I really hope we see more add-ons that what will make this keyboard amazing.

It would really be nice if they offer the numpad as a standalone piece for people with TKL or smaller keyboards that occasionally need a numpad. Right now they're only offering it as an accessory that requires the base keyboard to function.
Did not expect to like this, but it is a pretty cool idea and execution by the look of it. Nice to be able to have a numpad for the rare times I use one, but get it out of the way for most of the time when I don't.
Still using the Logitech G15, really miss how most manufacturers got rid of the tiny screen, but glad to see that this company is implementing it back again.
You could use a type-C extension cable and position the number pad to the right of the mouse. I worked retail 20 years ago and would use the register number pad to type in item numbers when something wouldn't scan. The number pad is more intuitive for me to use than the numbers at the top of the keyboard... But keyboards without a number pad make using the mouse more ergonomic. This is a great concept, but way out of my price range, even for the base version.
I love the possibility of plugging the numpad on the left, it's ideal for some games where I wish I had slightly better mouse area but I need the numpad for controls. War Thunder RB comes to mind specially. Where I have engine controls on the numpad, and releasing the mouse to adjust them is risky.
I've been asking for that keypad feature for years. So nice to at last see someone implement it. The layout of having the keypad on the right side seems like a vestige from the time before PC's had mice.
I'm not a fan of the CNC'd design, but I like the concept. I personally would have preferred that the plate was completely flat, but that's just me. Will certainly keep this company on my radar and hope the idea succeeds.
man, this is exactly what a keeb should be. modular, flexible, awesome. but no double-shot pbt keycaps AND that price makes it a total nonstarter. but i hope this concept gets more attention by other keeb manufacturers. i'd love to see ducky's take on this.
Hardware Canucks is top-tier RUclips for us gamers and PC geeks! I love Dmitry's upbeat delivery and the fast-cut video editing. Keep up the good work, guys!
So this is what the Microsoft Sidewinder X6 would have become if they didn't stop making gaming stuff. That was such a cool keyboard with so many weird and awesome features back in 2009.
I think this is a great concept, and I'm tempted to buy this keyboard, but I wonder if maybe the next iteration of this might be a bit better (RGB, Media screen, etc). I'd love to see PBT keycaps on a future version, though technically you can switch them out, it'd still be nice at that price. Tough I will say this is kinda genius, considering I almost bought both a TKL and a full length keyboard. EDIT: Actually just saw on their website that you can get PBT keycaps for an extra 30$.
Honestly the only thing i don't like about these are the switches other than that it seems amazing! For reference, I have a Wooting two with light swtches (less latency) and a custom keyboard with Lubed zilent v2
They need to release a trackpad module. Next revision add a notched frame to the dial or improve the rotary encoder mechanism. Then, add places to customize the tilt of the board in different directions (similar to the Dygma Raise) but with their magnet pods. Making it cross compatible will be really smart of them for customer loyalty.
an (almost since it can't be broken down to 60% size) fully modular and basically ambidextrous keyboard! have to say the concept is really quite cool indeed. the first of anything will always be expensive but when this concept becomes more mainstream, refined, and prices start to dip back into affordability, it could be what i may switch to in the future! when my das keyboard finally has enough of me.
Finally someone made a keyboard with my ideas. And ordered the silver max for $309.99. Thought about the black version, but like you said the silver would look more premium. MX silent red and PBT keycaps. I may switch them out later though for Kailh Pro Burgundy, Gateron Aliaz, or Canon Keys Lilac.
Mountain has really come out swinging. you should really take a look at the new mouse they release too its pretty promising. im really looking forward to what they bring to the market once tooling has stabilized and they can bring price down theyre going to be a serious threat to other companies.
Only thing id kinda want would be some macro keys, other than that probably not only the best looking but probably most unique and cool keyboard ive seen in a while.
As someone who is looking at a standalone mechanical macro keypad and that thinks good media keys are important this keyboard is actually a great value The display looks dope yet elegant and who does not love the look of brushed aluminium? I´m just not sold on the small stuff like no led on the display module I mean i never have lights on in my room and would probably never find the right button without turning on my desk lamp. The side led strip is great how it is in my opinion. If the side led was visible for the user it would either blind you or have to be dimmed + either your vision should be focused at the screen or the keys so i doubt it would have been better if it was visible to the user. It does however make it look great when you look at your desk from a bit away. For example when getting a snack or coffee, or when someone else looks over in total jealousy because they decided a pair of brand jeans were more important than a cool as RGB keyboard aka girl/boyfriend. I bought the steelseries apex 7 tkl not long ago though and i´m satisfied with it my main gripe though is how thick ugly and bulky the cable is. =/ Every premium pc equipment should come with usb c and have a replaceable cable I say sitting here with an new apex 7 , arctis9 pro and a G502 lightspeed the lack of usb c makes me feel like i´m in 2015. Fortunately i´m a cable managemen wizard that got the apex 7 cable to not stand out and even more fortunate is that with the wireless charging on the G502 and the arctis 9 pros battery thing i never have to touch my filthy non usb c cables =)
love how the modules connect like little puzzle pieces

Things I'd like to see them change/improve 1) wrist rest more comfortable 2) change the body texture so you don't get the dust build up 3) change the key caps so you don't end up with the oil buildup/fingerprints. IF they work on those things I'd totally pick this up.
need to review stuff from roccat, their peripherals are fire
Being able to place the numpad on the left is what made me get the Aorus K7 Thunder, definitely my favourite keyboard of all time. Silent switches too.
Thank god, the keyboard manufactures have just been sitting on their ass for so long releasing the same products with MOAR lights!!!
Okay so here we go, I'm going to try to keep this as short as possible: This keyboard is AMAZING, so glad they are doing this, this is EVERYTHING we wanted from the Corsair K100 and MORE. Complaints about this keyboard are for me first of all the detachable numpad, I get some people don't like it and that's fine, however I think they should make another version where the numpad is fully attached, that will make it a bit smaller as well, remove that pattern by the keys which you already said, they need to add dedicated macro keys such as on the Corsair K100 you got G1-G6. I like those and think they should do that, the dedicated media controls are amazing along with the rest of that unit, I will say though I also wish there was a version with it just permanently there in the top right corner or something and the back be a little raised up, the RGB a little brighter and fix the problem with the pure white not being able to show on this because I love that color, the wrist rest would obviously be the full length of the keyboard, and everything else is amazing, I hope to see Corsair do EXACTLY this in the future at a good price and I will easily buy that, another big thing here is only ONE cable with a USB passthrough, that is amazing and needs to be done, it's almost 2021 come on companies
@@NorthernLaw_ Oh shit macro keys could be an excellent addition. They could do 2 styles, numpad version to "daisy-chain" on either sides, or a longer version to go at the top. I can see this helping with productivity too.
@@F4ngel Yes that would be great, look up the Corsair K100 if that and this were combined it would be my favorite keyboard
you and Frank are really synchronized.
It's called an embargo. It's lifted at the same time for everyone
me looking at that detachable numpad: Microsoft Sidewinder??? is that you??
I'm literally sitting here wondering if I'd move my sidewinder to make space for the numpad.
0:46 I was so tempted to break my NNN for that beautiful keyboard shot!
Amazing content and we love the way the review is compiled, on the script level.
You guys are our heroes
I have always had to choose TLK so my arms can closer together when gaming = better for ergonomics!
Now I can finally put the numb pad on the left side with an extended cable and both TLK and numbpad = best of both worlds!!
"..Double-shot ABS.." -Aand I'm gone
Why? Some of the highest quality keycaps out there like GMK are double-shot ABS. The "shine" issue is way overblown. You won't get noticeable shine until years of consistent use and even then it doesn't look bad, it just looks a little glossy. The only real issue with these keycaps is that they are super thin
It's not even double-shot, you can easily see that those are sprayed abs, so literally the worst and cheapest type of keycaps
Lol yup
Coming from badseedtech's review is that the ABS caps are just there as"burner" or throwaway caps as they do offer a higher quality option
You could always buy new ones lol
Numpad on the left side. That's how keyboards should have been to begin. Really love how this keyboard gives you the flexibility to have it however you want.
Me looking at my 60%: "this seems gimmicky"
How about my 40%?
@@kierain9206 is that a thing?
@@nonenothing4412 yes it is

A step in the right direction, but for many games (space sims for example) more keys with a small programmable screen would be better.
They have PCI remote start switches for PCs. I want a PC on button on my keyboard.
Never knew I wanted an ASMR keyboard video until Hardware Canucks provided me one

"...and this CNC milled aluminum around the switches" ah yes, the old selling cost-cutting measures as features trick
It looks super ugly and it will be full of grease and dust in no time.
Cost cutting....? ah no. Like the look of it or not (I think it looks sick) CNCing is the most expensive way to fabricate metal outside of 3D printing it.
@@PhillioDoede and its more expensive to sand it down so it is smooth.
A small touchscreen with a pen would be an awesome addition.
Oh my, that media dock though. This keyboard looks very sexy.
It appears to share some of the design methodology of the old Sidewinder X6 keyboard, which ALSO had a detachable number pad that could be attached to either side of the board.
2:40 Fnatic Streak 65 spotted. Please review ✌
Done.
Would this be a good keyboard to start streaming with?
I honestly love the Everest Max, my favourite part about the lighting is the yeti mode that I didn't see at first!
Just bought one but shipping to the Uk's gonna take a while :( what's yeti mode do??
@@lmSpeciaI It’s just a pretty lighting effect that kind of reminds me of snow! I think someone posted a video in the discord!
Great keyboard, only thing missing is a Logitech logo.
If only they made good keyboards.
So essentially what Corsair should have released with the K100. That ICue button dial is mind boggling. Why would anyone need access to that on the fly.
Great job
And I thought that keyboards couldn't get any more expensive.
True, At least with this it seems to feel like you're getting something new out of though, that's what can make it more justifiable in this case imo. Refreshing to see new and actually valuable features for the cost, seems things were pretty well though out here so far.
Never say that. It's always possible to get more expensive.

Look up Keycult or Satisfaction75
I like the modularity, especially being able to put the numpad on the left side or to hang it off a cable - great for gaming, especially with those macro keys. The media dock shows potential but I reckon it needs plug-in capabilities or programmability to make it interesting and useful (and at least backlight those buttons!). I'll wait to see what version 2 brings.
How rigid is the body when the numpad is plugged in? Say you lift it up to move it, would it flex or break apart?
We still dont have gaming keyboards with analog thumbsticks🤔
After using the controversial Touch Bar on my (work) MacBook Pro, I really grew to love it and use it a lot. Really like this dial controller to give me something effectively similar for my PC as well.
Custom Mech Keyboard Community:
Haha ... no
I really like the modularity of this keyboard, from the separate numpad to the hotswappable key switches and the many cable gutters!
When Ur so early u don't know what to say
4- the ability to add things on the left side of the keyboard is another amazing idea, which I really hope they consider making tons of add-ons such as fan , display , huge touchpad like the Magic Trackpad "apple" also maybe go partner with Wacom make that amazing sketch tablet optional OR they dont need to because it is usb-c :D if there is a Wacom tablet that use usb-c then done its solved it will work already on the left side or right whatever you preferhhh
its very awesome keyboard, they can add a numbed that is just like stream deck from Elgato, basically 9 screen buttons or 12 :) and you customize it , so you buy that add-on instead of the numpad if you stream.
or they make a simple usb fan
the possibilities are limitless to their modular design I really hope we see more add-ons that what will make this keyboard amazing.
An expensive keyboard that we will only see in RUclips reviews.

It would really be nice if they offer the numpad as a standalone piece for people with TKL or smaller keyboards that occasionally need a numpad. Right now they're only offering it as an accessory that requires the base keyboard to function.
In my eyes, features and functionality is beauty.
So this is the most GODDAMN BEAUTIFUL KEYBOARD I’VE EVER SEEN
Wow a gorgeous keyboard By the way love your videos from India 🇮🇳
Did not expect to like this, but it is a pretty cool idea and execution by the look of it. Nice to be able to have a numpad for the rare times I use one, but get it out of the way for most of the time when I don't.
I just got paid and oh lawd am I tempted... I can't live without a numpad and this was exactly what I was looking for!
Got mine today!!! Just love it so far. Really exceeded all my expectations.
how long did it take to get to your arrive?
@@ashtonstinson927 I got mine in the first batch was lucky. Maybe a week.
It would be cool if you could connect a wireless mouse and use the dial to change the dpi and rgb
Epic Aesthetics on the opening of the box.
For those who don't know, that dial at the top is to make the keyboard louder or quieter 😁😁😁
This reminds me a lot of the Microsoft Sidewinder X6 keyboard from 2009. I still have mine
Well, you nailed the ASMR at the unboxing segment. Good job.
man, this is exactly what a keeb should be. modular, flexible, awesome. but no double-shot pbt keycaps AND that price makes it a total nonstarter. but i hope this concept gets more attention by other keeb manufacturers. i'd love to see ducky's take on this.
I personally dont need the modularity, but the approach with this little screen is amazing
I would like to have this as one solid keyboard :)
It surprises me how polar opposite two peripheral products can be just one video apart....love the work
Hardware Canucks is top-tier RUclips for us gamers and PC geeks! I love Dmitry's upbeat delivery and the fast-cut video editing. Keep up the good work, guys!
I've been waiting so long for a detachable numpad which can be connected at the left Side of the keyboard (no second party stuff). Finally here it is!
great review very tempting! I like the detachable number pad
Programming for macro setup within the wheel itself. Will add near endless options instead of only having 4 macro options with the 10-key add-on.
That’s a really nice bit of kit. I agree with you that there is so much potential with that dial screen.
I hope this modularity prevails. I like it!
3:30 That does not look like double shot to me, at least the DS caps I know. More like dyesub.
That sidecar is perfect for Resolve shortcuts.
Reminds me of my old Microsoft Sidewinder X6 all grown up.
an (almost since it can't be broken down to 60% size) fully modular and basically ambidextrous keyboard! have to say the concept is really quite cool indeed. the first of anything will always be expensive but when this concept becomes more mainstream, refined, and prices start to dip back into affordability, it could be what i may switch to in the future! when my das keyboard finally has enough of me.
I had a Microsoft sidewinder keyboard back in late 2000's that did this same thing with the numpad.
That had terrible, rubber dome keys though. Loved the volume control but the unit as a whole was cheap trash.
@@noneofyerbiz7099 That was the standard at the time. Mechanical and high quality keyboards didn't become a thing until a decade or half later.
@@BaghaShams X6 is circa 2008. I have a Steelseries 7G from the same year with Cherry MX blacks.
Mountain has really come out swinging. you should really take a look at the new mouse they release too its pretty promising. im really looking forward to what they bring to the market once tooling has stabilized and they can bring price down theyre going to be a serious threat to other companies.
I've had my Corsair K95 for over 4 years and it works well, but damn being able to swap switches? Hell yes gimme that Mountain keyboard!!
Only thing id kinda want would be some macro keys, other than that probably not only the best looking but probably most unique and cool keyboard ive seen in a while.
As someone who is looking at a standalone mechanical macro keypad and that thinks good media keys are important this keyboard is actually a great value
The display looks dope yet elegant and who does not love the look of brushed aluminium?
Every premium pc equipment should come with usb c and have a replaceable cable I say sitting here with an new apex 7 , arctis9 pro and a G502 lightspeed the lack of usb c makes me feel like i´m in 2015.
Fortunately i´m a cable managemen wizard that got the apex 7 cable to not stand out and even more fortunate is that with the wireless charging on the G502 and the arctis 9 pros battery thing i never have to touch my filthy non usb c cables =)
Would love a simpler version. No dials or screens just nice sleek KB with detachable num pad.
I just wish the radial module media buttons were back lit, and it had more software options but aside from that this keyboard looks pretty awesome! :)
