This one needs more reactions. I love the way she stands back and let's the musicians take a bow. Singing with nothing but a room mike.
A young and humble Floor. A very nice person with an incredible voice. Just bringing a message in a song..
This song, in its original form, was arranged, produced and mixed by Gordon Groothedde. Energise Me was co-written by the band and Groothedde. He is the co-writer, producer and plays much of the music on Floor's Paragon solo album. Way before Floor considered him as a co-creator for her solo record, After Forever got him in create a more commercial, radio-friendly sound, exemplified by Energise Me.
The audience were bussed in from a special home. They were promised tea and biscuits. After the session, there was a brief Q&A: the first question was, "When are we getting the biscuits?"
Floor here, singing beautifully with just the acoustics of the room. The microphone's present but at a distance just to record the sound. It's a great showcase for her immaculate voice.

I haven't watch your channel for a while. But it's nice to see you both again. Yes it's Dutch and the conversation was about what genre Floor was from and the interviewer didn't know her really. The string guy told that Joost van den Broek from After Forever made a good arrangement for them but that they didn't have a drummer like After Forever and that one of the guys would do the drumming on his instrument...
I am glad you liked it so much. She explained that the arrangement was made by Joost van den Broek, you may remember him as the keyboard player at the Ayreon live concerts.
He also was the keyboardist in After Forever and has gone on to be a big music producer having worked on albums for Epica, Blackbriar and Powerwolf to name a few. He was knighted by the Dutch King for his contributions to music.

@@SueSueandthewolfman hello Sussue, I'm well, have holidays, spent at home, visiting family, grandchildren (2), the second is 5 months now. Work is going well, I'm 63, building off, and nowadays I'm working 24 hours a week. Spent a lot of time in nature, as a volunteer working for Nature institution.
And of course enjoying music, and since a couple of years Als reactions on RUclips. Thanks to Floor and you guy's.
You are one of my favorites.
I wish I could so ones in a while, pass by and drink a coffee and take care of you both when it would be necessary.

The name Jansen, do you (in the Netherlands) say the name with the last letter "n" or leave it silent? Have heard on several occations where it sounds like you leave it silent. Just curious, I'm swedish btw 🙂
@@tomasnyqvist3119 We have many Jansen in Holland; Janse, Jansse, Jansen, Janssen, Jansens en Janzen. But it is true; most of the time the last s is silent.
The told what they were going to do and why and that her singing was not amplified. What struck me is how hard Floor has tried to be well known in the Netherlands and it did not work. She was a metal artist and that was not popular in the Netherlands. But she did this, she sang for content of computer games, she sang opera (that she disliked) on TV and much, much more. To no avail, until she came to Beste Zangers 2019 (and only because Henk Poort was there as well). After that all skyrocketed in the Netherlands and it gave her the confidence to pursue a solo career in Dutch and German speaking parts of Europe. Low and behold, Nightwish is on hold right now, so as she said herself, her priority 2 (solo) became prio 1.

Just to briefly explain about the location: this was done in a theater school in Amsterdam, that probably used to be a church at some point, and the performance was part of an event called "Uitmarkt", which signifies the start of the cultural season in the Netherlands. "Podium" pertains to the Dutch television show that recorded and broadcast it at the time. In the comment section of another video of this performance I noticed someone calling it a masterclass. I think one can easily see it as such. If you're interested, this is what was being said at the start of the video:
Q: It's a completely different world than the quartet isn't it?
Floor answers: Yes, but somewhere we meet in the classical arrangements in our music. It's heavy guitars, double bass, but I sing both pop and opera and our music contains a lot of classical arrangements. And therefore it was kind of a logical step toward the Red Limo String Quartet.
Q: And it's not being amplified, that must be different for you.
Floor answers: Yes and no. I have done many different things, also outside of After Forever. I'm not unfamiliar with acoustic singing, but this setting is different, and the fun part is that you can add some nuances.
