It's 2023 and Hoyoverse still has the game design of defensive characters having some kinda passive that improves their damage based on their max hp lol. The damage increase is so neglegible while basically making one of their talent useless.
If it was an additional MV scaling like Thoma/Zhongli it would be something. But a %DMG bonus is indeed mostly useless, since it's multiplying the ATK scalings... One could hope for a Yae situation, where her EM-scaling %DMG bonus got useful with Aggravate afterwards... But the chances as slim since we can't rely on new elemental reactions, specially considering it's only a 4-star character with such issue (for now).

@XCrimsonPyroX A mix of bad luck and burn out. I'd been playing since shortly after launch, and I won 3 50/50s the entire time. 5 Jeans and 3 Qiqis lmao. No Keqing, who I wanted before she was good, or even Mona. Also, I was an Ayaka main, and HYV has been "nerfing" freeze for a longgg while. Dehya also kind of proved to me that Genshin was not going to improve ever. I love Star Rail and played Honkai Impact for a long time too, so I guess it just wasn't my game.
the one thing i hate about her is. They could've made her climb either take reduced stamina for longer distance than normal climbing, or give it actual free movement, like ceiling crawling. but NOOOPPPEE they had to give it the worst of both worlds. almost the same amount of distance traveled and high stamina cost.
@@undeniablySomeGuy Her E's stamina consumption is increased when climbing, while only being slightly faster than normal climbing. Edit: Now that she actually came out, I gotta take back what I said. The skill description is extremely misleading, she actually consumes little to no stamina while climbing, thus making Kirara the best climber we've got so far (other than Lisa for reasons better left unsaid..)

Reduced climbing stamina consumption was the only motivation i have for pulling for her. i don’t really need her now more than ever. I will just climb normally, use anemo resonance, and eat some stamina food. ugh. hoyoverse.

almost every 4 star has been mid this entire version, and most 5 stars have been good or downright busted. I don't hope the 5 stars are bad in fontaine but they need to change the 4 star situation in fontaine. Traveler being one of the best sumeru free characters is wild

@@rl6321 I love Layla and she's a must on both my double hydro Hu Tao and my Ayaka teams (I use her more than I use my Zhongli), but as good as she is, she isn't "meta", and I guess that's what people mostly mean by "mid". I would only consider meta characters like 1.0's "big five" (Sucrose, XL, XQ, Bennett and Fischl), and a few others like Kuki and... Kuki. Some people would also consider the "niche supports at C6" as meta, like Sara, Gorou and Faruzan. We also have many good but balanced 4*, like Rosaria, Kaeya, Diona, Beidou, Yanfei, and Yaoyao.That's where Layla fits imo.
Kirara E with Nilou Ring and Barbara Ring would be a funny Bloom Hit-and-Run Catbus If only there was a faster character-centered Hydro application ability apart from Nilou and Barbara rings tho

Yeah. People tend to downplay how valuable overworld characters are to players 😅 like sure. Powerful characters are cool, but you spend most of your time in this game exploring and having fun in the overworld. Tis why Wanderer is one of the best 5*s to have because that flight is GODLY (hehe, pun). He doesn't have the best damage, but it's enough for the overworld
She is cute, her climbing might be cool, decent dendro shield - yeah sounds good enough for an exploration 4*. Hopefully the increased stamina consumption is not too high!

I want to tryout her in Nilou/Nahida/Bruhbara team, it seems to be fun just MESSING AROUND IN A BOX in a middle of bunch of enemies. Looking in Nahida E-Ult, Nilou Setup, Bruhbara E, Eh for Kirara and just flew over the enemy stack, triggering blooms and Nahida seeds
I want kirara so bad because my quicken team always dies but I already have yoimiya and yae and I'm too close to pity to pull for her 😭 I hope next time she's rate up it's on a banner I want or I serendipitously pull her on standard
honestly, this sounds like a decent team. it might be better, to cut collei out for another hydro. with collei AND kirara you have kinda too much dendro, compared to hydro application cuz kirara allready gives you enough in a limited aoe and with collei its just overkill with her burst up, which doesnt really improve on the aoe, onsidering that barb and nilou dont have that fast hydro app.

Gonna get her to use in a nilou team, don't think it'll be anything crazy or like nilou's new beat team or anything but it should be some fun and honestly with how strong nilou teams are it should still be really strong, it'll also help me free up units for other half of abyss.
Sapwood's passive requires the wielder to trigger the reactions, which is gonna be very hard in nilou bloom bc the hydros are the ones who trigger blooms in that team, not the dendros. For that reason I don't think Sapwood is good for her.
Its not that true,everyone in reality trigger the reaction in nilou team but its harder to proc it when you want yes because it will not be much. But the thing is, its not like another weapon would be better

I disagree on them having a filler patch only to make you play star rail we had 7 patches filled with story and new areas and now we are 2 patches away from fontaine, we cannot be as spoiled to expect every patch to be amazing, they still put effort into this one judging by the events. Did they plan to release Star rail when Genshin goes into filler patches? of course, but to say they are holding content from us on purpose is unfair to the stuff they kept giving us.
I agree, I said something like that when he said that on a star rail vid of his, genshin have been having filler nothing patches for a while and while people can argue that they brought some story content or whatever events being party games is just not fun anymore, what's even the point of getting characters then just abyss? True, Genshin would be in its usual pre-new region slow period regardless of Star Rail. Also the events look pretty fun if you like mini games, but most youtubers are like "Non combat event? Who cares." Which is silly because the combat events are even more brain dead than the mini games to anyone with even slightly built teams.
I don't get the reasoning behind "sac meh because downtime". There aren't any 4* weapons that can increase her shield, so having 160%, 100%, 160%, 100% shields is much better than every single one of them being just 100%

C4 Kirara + C2 Baizhu for the double coordinated attack seems like some silly fun. If I saw them together on a banner during 4.0 I might consider it because I love the idea of off field coordinated attacks, but that's so many pulls for so little value (aside from fun).
Could be a fun one to have for when I explore with Keqing since I usually don't use Yelan with her. Maybe even to bring to Abyss here and there when Zhongli is busy. The 12s duration on the shield lines up quite nicely with Keqing and C6 Fischl, could be fun.
She's so cute! Gonna do 30 pulls and let it be if I don't get her. I already have Yoyo and never really wanted Yae. Hopefully her next run is with someone I find exciting. I am glad to hear she can work with Nilou my Nilou team has been my favorite
These newer units kit makes me wonder how Focalors kit going to be. Currently we got XQ and Yelan, who are really good for single target reactions. But all the aoe hydro applicators, Mona, Kokomi, Ayato, have some sort of caveat. So I think Focalors will have aoe hydro application and QiQi like healing by dealing damage. We have Kokomi's jellyfish as example; maybe Focalors will summon a hydro animal that will have a large aoe hydro aura, high uptime and it'll follow you. Nahida's E is similar to Raiden but with unique execution. I hope HYV will surprise us with Focalors. I wouldn't want another Xingqiu that also heals.
From what I've seen from the leaks subreddit, she is going to drain HP from her team to power up. This is why we've been getting characters who can mitigate damage from the rest of the team. There was also the theory about her summoning a whirlpool a while back, but never really heard from again. (Maybe reused for a new Fontaine character if not Focalors?)
@@viedralavinova8266 I have seen the leak about her weapon but without more detail leak I am still not so sure about her kit, its still too early to get reliable leak about her kit. Its just, lately with characters like Kaveh, Baizhu, Kirara I have been feeling that the hydro characters we got somehow don't fit properly. Although I think Kokomi is currently the best hydro to be used in Nilou comp, considering her skill uptime and cooldown it feel like she was designed for Ayaka freeze team. And that got me thinking may be we'll get a hydro character that'll fit better in dendro comp. XQ/Yelan is great in dendro comp but to me Ayato sort of feel better, specially with Nahida. It was already strange that we got Yelan who is so similar to XQ, so I think Focalors will not have a kit similar to XQ. As such if she is a support she could have some sort of AOE hydro application. And thematically hydro was the element representing healing so I think Focalors kit should have some sort of Hp related effect, healing, draining, whatever. My biggest concern is if Nymph's Dream set is actually intended for Focalors; if she is a on-field DPS like Childe.

Second time no new 5 star was 2.2 but it has new area(Tsurumi Island) and the labyrinth warriors which has the most depth among the combat events we had. This is the first time we're gonna have no new 5 star, no new area, no new archon quest all at the same time.

if kiraras shield takes damage priority over xinyans would that make it so that xinyan could be a good almost er less version of thoma, and assuming this were the case like lets say shield strength were not an issue for xinyan is she a better pyro unit than thoma in burgeon teams assuming her shield does not break or even with kirara theoretically making xinyan viable is thoma still better?
@@BorisKashirin, Xinyan’s shield doesn’t do any contact damage. If you activate her shield to do the Pyro rings, their shields together should do Burning, or Burgeon if you also apply a Hydro ring.
Anyone else think the shielder characters have been oversaturated at this point? Especially considering very few are worth using over Zhongli. I’d rather have more off field supports and summoners like fischl. Enough with all the defensive options, we hardly have a use for most of them.
If you have Zhong li, you pretty much don't need any other shielder. Maybe Diona for freeze teams (but she is more of a battery than a shielder on those teams) and Thoma for burgeon
I agree on off-field characters be it dps or sup, especially pyro, for the God's sake the only proper off field pyro DPS we have rn is freaking Xiangling, or Thoma burgeon if we count him. While hydro has like >4
This abyss was so annoying that i just swapped benny for zhong and add layla in hutao team and just relax pass it,so shields is nice when your main dps do enough dmg,and for yae team having good dendro shield will be pretty nice
ZL doesnt offer much to his team beyond having a big shield. The shield supports offer more than just a shield, which can make them a lot more desirable
Question. How good will she in an exploration team? I'm planning to use her in team with wanderer, yelan (or fischl), kirara, and sayu. Are all of these still applies? I can see noblesse being the correct choice, but is the main stat still the same?
Yes it's the same, the difference between overworld and abyss team building is overworld are a lot more lenient on ER. And honestly you can go literally anything with exploration. Wanderer alone give you nice exploration perk while covering damage by himself. Now all you need to fill is either to add extra mobility like yelan/kirara or elemental coverage for puzzle like how sumeru having pyro, electro, dendro kind of mandatory.
Woah... fav not great for Kirara?? Who could have thought... Well, it's just the same as for almost all dendro units in many situations. Cause who uses fav on Yaoyao in Fischl quicken?... Maybe putting version with Cyno aside. For Nahida and Baizhu it's also often nothing great / not best. Ptototype Amber is more useful for BOTH. But fav myth probably won't stop. Kirara not for salad - uhh, why?? Of course it will work well. Similarly good for double anemo quicken. And a game changer - for version with Faruzan! But Zajef and community is terribly confused about Faru and underrating her, so I can't expect much, welp. Besides - MAIN point of Kirara is shield, all other value will function only if shield is good enough. And... Almost nothing about it, putting analysis for Nilou-team?... Where is general evaluation and comparison with other shielders? That's the MAIN point of Kirara, bruhhh... I respect work put into this and analyses are good, high quality. But MANY crucial points were not considered or barely, that's not good. Besides what I've already mentioned also things like seemingly being a great upgrade over Yaoyao and Baizhu for more AoE scenarios in quicken team. If only shield is good enough, then no doubt she provides serious value to the game with all this kit, good unit.
I'm just glad we have a Dendro character now that I actually want to build. I've been using Nilou in Vape and Freeze but now I can finally make a Bloom team for her.

I just checked and i realised that she has higher base hp and shield multiplier than layla, which means that she will be the strongest 4 star shielder in the game
I built her atk/dendro/crit with 4pc guilded, she works good enough in Hyperbloom, I like dendro resonance and probably more damage than with dendro mc. Since I don’t have yelan, she goes well, and also my Nahida is on deepwood
I think HoD would also be a Sword to consider as Kirara has a lot of HP+ Shield. Kirara is pretty good at maintaining the passive and it gives a huge Balanced crit stats, even for a Build with triple HP (or HP/Dendro/HP) build. At least I would use HoD over the other offensive weapons :)
The problem with HoD is that it has very low attack as a 3 star weapon. If you go for damage on her, you do want high attack. Her damage does not scale from HP. HoD is good on character like Albedo that do not scale from attack. Either go full on damage ATK%orEM/Dendro/Crit or stick to HP/HP/HP. If you go for HoD and with HP/Dendro/HP, you will have crap damage AND weaker shield.
@@NLwino The shield doesn't weaken because the other sword options (except Key) also don't have HP% sidestat, in this case you have all HP from you Artefacts. The atk is low, but Spread doesn't need much atk as it mainly scales to DMG multiplayer like Crit DendroDMG. Kiara DMG won't be extremely high with this, but for Spread/Aggrevate it's a better option than most other swords For Qicken Teams Fav is not needed because 2x Electro and Sapwood Blade Passive is also often rather annoying since you have to collect the seed

quite a while since this vid was posted but holy. kirara feels way better than yaoyao in keqing aggravate its mostly cause yuegui doesnt rly have big aoe so u have to get really close to apply dendro if he starts healing the on field character. kirara can also equip sapwood which is a good increase in em (kinda overkill if u have sucrose in the party already though) kirara cooldowns litterally matching up perfectly to aggravate keqings quick swappy playstyle. nahida deff gives more dmg though. way bigger numbers on her skills. pretty much the only good dendro shielder right now too. (baizhus shield is not a real shield its as paper thin as crystallize reaction shields)

Zajef overlooked Sac Sword’s best benefit. She can double stack shields like Thoma. You can quickly tap E for a much stronger shield.

She's a 4* and no stamina consumption supposedly to be 5* unit specialties (wanderer) so don't put your hope too high over a 4* unit.

Yeah. People tend to downplay how valuable overworld characters are to players 😅 like sure. Powerful characters are cool, but you spend most of your time in this game exploring and having fun in the overworld.
Tis why Wanderer is one of the best 5*s to have because that flight is GODLY (hehe, pun). He doesn't have the best damage, but it's enough for the overworld

honestly, this sounds like a decent team. it might be better, to cut collei out for another hydro. with collei AND kirara you have kinda too much dendro, compared to hydro application cuz kirara allready gives you enough in a limited aoe and with collei its just overkill with her burst up, which doesnt really improve on the aoe, onsidering that barb and nilou dont have that fast hydro app.

Sapwood's passive requires the wielder to trigger the reactions, which is gonna be very hard in nilou bloom bc the hydros are the ones who trigger blooms in that team, not the dendros. For that reason I don't think Sapwood is good for her.

Wait, with Kirara as solo dendro in burgeon who the fuck gonna be your burgeon trigger? Thoma requires NA and Xiangling needs ridiculously high hydro app, so they won’t work. For non-oven/curry ig Benny+Kazoo are decent option, but for oven and curry? Full EM Dehya?????
I disagree on them having a filler patch only to make you play star rail we had 7 patches filled with story and new areas and now we are 2 patches away from fontaine, we cannot be as spoiled to expect every patch to be amazing, they still put effort into this one judging by the events. Did they plan to release Star rail when Genshin goes into filler patches? of course, but to say they are holding content from us on purpose is unfair to the stuff they kept giving us.
I agree, I said something like that when he said that on a star rail vid of his, genshin have been having filler nothing patches for a while and while people can argue that they brought some story content or whatever events being party games is just not fun anymore, what's even the point of getting characters then just abyss? They already said they're not gonna make it harder plus the a lot of characters are just meh or just bad (mostly 4 stars and Dehya) yeah there have been some cool ones like Alhaitham and Wanderer but still.
But star rail has a different team so it's not like the genshin team is paying more attention to HSR they're just no giving us more content for whatever reason

True, Genshin would be in its usual pre-new region slow period regardless of Star Rail. Also the events look pretty fun if you like mini games, but most youtubers are like "Non combat event? Who cares." Which is silly because the combat events are even more brain dead than the mini games to anyone with even slightly built teams.

I don't get the reasoning behind "sac meh because downtime". There aren't any 4* weapons that can increase her shield, so having 160%, 100%, 160%, 100% shields is much better than every single one of them being just 100%

C4 Kirara + C2 Baizhu for the double coordinated attack seems like some silly fun. If I saw them together on a banner during 4.0 I might consider it because I love the idea of off field coordinated attacks, but that's so many pulls for so little value (aside from fun).
With her C3, her max shield is comparable to C0 zhongli shield and I did take 1,5x geo shield multiplier into account.
Could be a fun one to have for when I explore with Keqing since I usually don't use Yelan with her. Maybe even to bring to Abyss here and there when Zhongli is busy. The 12s duration on the shield lines up quite nicely with Keqing and C6 Fischl, could be fun.

She's so cute! Gonna do 30 pulls and let it be if I don't get her. I already have Yoyo and never really wanted Yae. Hopefully her next run is with someone I find exciting. I am glad to hear she can work with Nilou my Nilou team has been my favorite
These newer units kit makes me wonder how Focalors kit going to be. Currently we got XQ and Yelan, who are really good for single target reactions. But all the aoe hydro applicators, Mona, Kokomi, Ayato, have some sort of caveat. So I think Focalors will have aoe hydro application and QiQi like healing by dealing damage. We have Kokomi's jellyfish as example; maybe Focalors will summon a hydro animal that will have a large aoe hydro aura, high uptime and it'll follow you. Nahida's E is similar to Raiden but with unique execution. I hope HYV will surprise us with Focalors. I wouldn't want another Xingqiu that also heals.
From what I've seen from the leaks subreddit, she is going to drain HP from her team to power up. This is why we've been getting characters who can mitigate damage from the rest of the team. There was also the theory about her summoning a whirlpool a while back, but never really heard from again. (Maybe reused for a new Fontaine character if not Focalors?)

@@viedralavinova8266 I have seen the leak about her weapon but without more detail leak I am still not so sure about her kit, its still too early to get reliable leak about her kit. Its just, lately with characters like Kaveh, Baizhu, Kirara I have been feeling that the hydro characters we got somehow don't fit properly. Although I think Kokomi is currently the best hydro to be used in Nilou comp, considering her skill uptime and cooldown it feel like she was designed for Ayaka freeze team. And that got me thinking may be we'll get a hydro character that'll fit better in dendro comp. XQ/Yelan is great in dendro comp but to me Ayato sort of feel better, specially with Nahida. It was already strange that we got Yelan who is so similar to XQ, so I think Focalors will not have a kit similar to XQ. As such if she is a support she could have some sort of AOE hydro application. And thematically hydro was the element representing healing so I think Focalors kit should have some sort of Hp related effect, healing, draining, whatever. My biggest concern is if Nymph's Dream set is actually intended for Focalors; if she is a on-field DPS like Childe.

@@thebrigade7684 They said mitigate damage, not HP draining mechanic. Shields will still protect you from attacks even if you are affected by smtn like corrosion or hp drain like the one Xiao has with his ult, which is still very helpful.

Nah, it's rare to have a patch without a new 5 star, no new area, no new archon quest all at the same time... According to leaks, we'll have no new 5 star until 4.0

@@wideozludrawz First time no new 5 star was 1.4 but it has an archon quest, first time we saw our twin again, a lot of people anticipated that. And windblume was a big event at that time.
Second time no new 5 star was 2.2 but it has new area(Tsurumi Island) and the labyrinth warriors which has the most depth among the combat events we had.
This is the first time we're gonna have no new 5 star, no new area, no new archon quest all at the same time.

if kiraras shield takes damage priority over xinyans would that make it so that xinyan could be a good almost er less version of thoma, and assuming this were the case like lets say shield strength were not an issue for xinyan is she a better pyro unit than thoma in burgeon teams assuming her shield does not break or even with kirara theoretically making xinyan viable is thoma still better?
Shields don't have priority, all shields depleted simultaneously so staking shields suck, you effectively have only the strongest one.
@@BorisKashirin, Xinyan’s shield doesn’t do any contact damage. If you activate her shield to do the Pyro rings, their shields together should do Burning, or Burgeon if you also apply a Hydro ring.
Anyone else think the shielder characters have been oversaturated at this point? Especially considering very few are worth using over Zhongli.
I’d rather have more off field supports and summoners like fischl.
Enough with all the defensive options, we hardly have a use for most of them.
If you have Zhong li, you pretty much don't need any other shielder. Maybe Diona for freeze teams (but she is more of a battery than a shielder on those teams) and Thoma for burgeon

I agree on off-field characters be it dps or sup, especially pyro, for the God's sake the only proper off field pyro DPS we have rn is freaking Xiangling, or Thoma burgeon if we count him. While hydro has like >4
This abyss was so annoying that i just swapped benny for zhong and add layla in hutao team and just relax pass it,so shields is nice when your main dps do enough dmg,and for yae team having good dendro shield will be pretty nice
ZL doesnt offer much to his team beyond having a big shield. The shield supports offer more than just a shield, which can make them a lot more desirable
Question. How good will she in an exploration team? I'm planning to use her in team with wanderer, yelan (or fischl), kirara, and sayu. Are all of these still applies? I can see noblesse being the correct choice, but is the main stat still the same?
Yes it's the same, the difference between overworld and abyss team building is overworld are a lot more lenient on ER. And honestly you can go literally anything with exploration. Wanderer alone give you nice exploration perk while covering damage by himself.
Now all you need to fill is either to add extra mobility like yelan/kirara or elemental coverage for puzzle like how sumeru having pyro, electro, dendro kind of mandatory.

Woah... fav not great for Kirara?? Who could have thought... Well, it's just the same as for almost all dendro units in many situations. Cause who uses fav on Yaoyao in Fischl quicken?... Maybe putting version with Cyno aside. For Nahida and Baizhu it's also often nothing great / not best. Ptototype Amber is more useful for BOTH. But fav myth probably won't stop.
Kirara not for salad - uhh, why?? Of course it will work well. Similarly good for double anemo quicken. And a game changer - for version with Faruzan! But Zajef and community is terribly confused about Faru and underrating her, so I can't expect much, welp. Besides - MAIN point of Kirara is shield, all other value will function only if shield is good enough. And... Almost nothing about it, putting analysis for Nilou-team?... Where is general evaluation and comparison with other shielders? That's the MAIN point of Kirara, bruhhh... I respect work put into this and analyses are good, high quality. But MANY crucial points were not considered or barely, that's not good. Besides what I've already mentioned also things like seemingly being a great upgrade over Yaoyao and Baizhu for more AoE scenarios in quicken team. If only shield is good enough, then no doubt she provides serious value to the game with all this kit, good unit.

I just checked and i realised that she has higher base hp and shield multiplier than layla, which means that she will be the strongest 4 star shielder in the game
I built her atk/dendro/crit with 4pc guilded, she works good enough in Hyperbloom, I like dendro resonance and probably more damage than with dendro mc. Since I don’t have yelan, she goes well, and also my Nahida is on deepwood

I think HoD would also be a Sword to consider as Kirara has a lot of HP+ Shield.
Kirara is pretty good at maintaining the passive and it gives a huge Balanced crit stats, even for a Build with triple HP (or HP/Dendro/HP) build.
At least I would use HoD over the other offensive weapons :)
The problem with HoD is that it has very low attack as a 3 star weapon. If you go for damage on her, you do want high attack. Her damage does not scale from HP. HoD is good on character like Albedo that do not scale from attack. Either go full on damage ATK%orEM/Dendro/Crit or stick to HP/HP/HP. If you go for HoD and with HP/Dendro/HP, you will have crap damage AND weaker shield.
@@NLwino The shield doesn't weaken because the other sword options (except Key) also don't have HP% sidestat, in this case you have all HP from you Artefacts.
The atk is low, but Spread doesn't need much atk as it mainly scales to DMG multiplayer like Crit DendroDMG.
Kiara DMG won't be extremely high with this, but for Spread/Aggrevate it's a better option than most other swords
For Qicken Teams Fav is not needed because 2x Electro and Sapwood Blade Passive is also often rather annoying since you have to collect the seed
So... why calling a team with Cryo "oven" again?

at some point someone walked in on me with the spreadsheet zoomed in on curry, oven, hyperfridge, salad and they thought I was watching a cooking video. I still didn't know how to explain it to them so I ended up laughing for no reason :| #GenshinDailys
quite a while since this vid was posted but holy. kirara feels way better than yaoyao in keqing aggravate
its mostly cause yuegui doesnt rly have big aoe so u have to get really close to apply dendro if he starts healing the on field character.
kirara can also equip sapwood which is a good increase in em (kinda overkill if u have sucrose in the party already though)
kirara cooldowns litterally matching up perfectly to aggravate keqings quick swappy playstyle.
nahida deff gives more dmg though. way bigger numbers on her skills. pretty much the only good dendro shielder right now too. (baizhus shield is not a real shield its as paper thin as crystallize reaction shields)
