7:12, "Lead with Value" is so true. Once upon a time, I asked for permission from the owner of the hair salon studio where my mother worked if I could include photos I took of the location on my mother's website. These photos included full displays of her logo in various settings, so I wanted to make sure if it was alright to reproduce them to benefit my mother's business. The owner was so impressed with my photos that she asked me if I could take more photos of her other locations. Consequently, she ended up as my first paying client for my photography business. Note: I never intended to sell her anything, nor had I ever intended on starting a photography business. I sometimes imagine what would have happened if I had actually tried to sell her something, "Umm, so yea I have this photography business and I thought you would be a great fit. I'm looking for my first client. Can you pretty please be my first client?" I'm not sure if that would have worked out so well--but who knows.

Happy New Year! Your point on setting boundaries really made an impact on me today. Do you recommend any reading ? I am burning out with a client just because I transitioned from being and employee to a self employed and putting upfront your rules with a client is something you don’t learn while being an employee.
