    As a person who is new and is trying to get into copywriting, I do not have a portfolio. So instead, I try to offer free values like a free sample the client can try like those little perfume samples just to get a taste of what could happen for them, and hope they like my work and performance and then become a paid client.

    Love this. Question: could you just combine the brand and discovery call? And go over their brand's tone/vibe right off the bat?

    • @AlexCattoni
      @AlexCattoni  2 года назад +1

      Well you certainly could. I personally would not recommend it though - the purpose of the discovery is to learn more about them and if/how/where you can help them the most in their business. A branding call typically doesn't happen until you've decided to move forward and work together. Good luck!

      @@AlexCattoni gotcha! In my head (that’s wants to get everything done asap :/ haha), I figured I’d wanna know what their tone/vibe is right away because what if I don’t like it? Haha. BUT- at the end of the day it makes more sense that it’s not really the TONE of the subject matter that would turn me off - it would be the subject matter/niche itself that would appeal/not appeal to me. Me think too much 😅🤣

    Hi Alex! Sorry I'm a little confused about the project scope. So, I'm gonna ask them to write a project scope? Isn't that something that I have to do and include in the proposal, so I can set my own time on when I can finish it?
    And besides, I might have already the idea on what kind of copy I will do for them and include in the proposal.
    As you said, make it easy for them and do everything from start to finish, but I have to ask them to write a project scope?
    And do you think they know this already or should I send them a template where they can just fill in the deliverables and such?
    Sorry I just don't understand it hehe, maybe someone can make it clear for me?
    I'll be having a discovery call next week so I'm preparing for a good impression and flawless flow. Thank you so much!

    Hi Alex! Awesome content as always - thank you for all your advice! I noticed you said “don’t email it comes off as desperate” and to call or video chat. I am wondering if you think all emailing / cold emails are a bad idea? I’ve not gotten started yet myself, I’m learning as much as possible online and through books (that you recommended!) and also trying to find my niche. I see others giving advice on cold emailing and wonder if that’s a bad move? What are your thoughts on that?

    • @AlexCattoni
      @AlexCattoni  4 года назад +1

      Hey girl! Cold emailing is definitely a strategy and it can work if you are real, authentic and make the email about the client (not about you). I didn’t mean “don’t email”, I meant “don’t come off desperate”. Email can still work! Focus on how you can add value and what you love about their brand. 8:34 I replayed this thrice for some reason.
    Also, are those lenses? The eyes look really gorgeous either way
    And well, for discovery call or some video call, it'd be better to set up the room background and lightings to make it much efficient.
    As for the currency matter. So let's say, my currency is INR(Indian rupees), while the client is from USA, having USD. Given I have a bank account linked with PayPal. The payment would be better to be done on INR or USD?(This is really one of the confusing questions I'm currently having)
    And yes Alex, zee camerrrra is recorrrdinguu! Hehe that was cute

    • @AlexCattoni
      @AlexCattoni  4 года назад +1

      Are what lenses?? My eyes? Nope - all natural!
      it would be good to have a Professional looking backdrop and good lighting. Even if it’s just a white wall, with little distractions. Lighting is critical
      I would definitely invoice in USD If your clients are in USD and your PayPal is set up to receive USD.
      Hope that helps!
