You are a life saver! I recorded all my vocal tracks and used pitch flex to fix minor details and somehow those details create a weird high pitch, kinda robotic and unnatural sound. All I did was click the analyze audio for flex editing and it fixed it all.
Thanks for the video! I’ve always found Flex pitch to be destructive once the file is analyzed… I can never go back to the original take after I analyze it. For that reason, I bounce in place the take before enabling Flex pitch so that I can go back to the original.
Me too! How do I fix this?! In flex it sounds good pitch all corrected and ideal but once I go out of that it sounds completely ruined and robotic and I don't understand it! I need help!!
Finding this video is perfect timing. I was just on the Melodie website looking at pricing after a bad week with flex pitch. This video gives me everything I need to resolve all the issues I faced this week on my next project.
Edited: I spoke to soon lol. I stumbled upon an error today that the last word of a vocal region got transformed into noise when analysing flex. No matter how many times I cut the region and analyse again I couldn't fix it.. but re-bouncing worked. Thanks! This video was really clear! I like your way of explaining. Thanks!

This just goes to show that - no matter how long you've been using something (Logic, 10 years) - you can always be learning new things to help your life be easier. Thank you mate, cheers 🥂
Great tips, as usual. I always do Flex edits in the Editor but I’d never thought of re-bouncing as a way to try to overcome difficulties. Thanks, Chris!
Thanks Chris!! I'm just commenting to thank you for finding ways to so very clearly teach all of us better ways to use the tools Logic gives us!! I use Flex Pitch solely, since I haven't moved on to AT or Melodyne yet....so these tools were super helpful for when Flex makes mistakes in it's analyzation!!!
Wow now this was suuuuper weird. Never experienced such a brain twister :D ...As a German I switched my brain to english watching this video no problem but at 2:36 the vocalist singing in german totally messed with my brain because it was so unexpected :D Like a bucket of cold water over my head xD ...or maybe it's just because it's german in the first place idk :D very weird experience. But thank you for that video and your great content in general... this showed me exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks for this video Chris! You answered all my previous bad experiences with flex pitch. Now I highly appreciate this program and I’m using it effectively, I just need to be careful though with some adjustments. Thanks.
Thanks for the great tips on Flex Pitch. It is a great tool but I ran into this problem several times unfortunately did not know about these tricks. Chris please create a video on basic mixing on drums, bass, 2 tracks of keyboards, 2 tracks of guitars and vocal.
I thought that when you turn on flex pitch, it just analyses the notes, allowing you to make discrete corrections. I didn't think the analysis itself makes changes. I'm a bit confused.....
10:35 - what command did you use to duplicate and drag down the region after using the marquee tool? I usually have to copy the region and then place the marquee tool where I want to paste it on the next track. But that shortcut is pretty smooth, how you could just pull it down and the original region is still in the upper track.
Hey Muddy, I don't know if you already figured it out, but the command is: hold the 'option' key while dragging the region. Pretty neat shortcut. Use it all the time! You can also use this for copying plugins to other tracks in the mixer.
I think you could expand this Video if you desired to using the flex pitch with the logic various scale choices that are available, explaining the pro's and Con's of using this on pitch correction for vocals. Only a suggestion.
Does flexpitch work on comp stacks? I've run into some weird issues where i bounce in place, but flex doesn't work (even muting audio regions doesnt work) What would be the correct workflow after removing silence. Bounce in place, new track etc?
Really great tutorial thanks!!!!! However, my logic usually stops running correctly whenever i split a clip in flex mode, and its not CPU or computer performance problem... Any tips anyone?
wow.. I was here scratching my head..Then my butt .. Then my head.. then my butt again.. I was wondering.. What in the world is going on!!.. i thought i was in the Twilight Zone..This fixed my problem 100%
I have to edit a very high pitch operatic vocal. The sequence is distorted by the time I click "flex pitch" and believe me I have tried everything you mentioned. I am completely disappointed. Apple could have done better than this.
My problem with this whole ‘Flex thing’ is that when I try to use flex time on drums, it puts all the points in the middle of my transients, splitting all my attacks up and ruining the track? 🤔 I wish it would put the marker just in front of the transient. 😿
I’m done with flex pitch. It’s clobbered me too many times, gave up and bought Melodyne. Much better. I don't know why Apple ships Logic w/ Flex built-in with how incredibly bad it still is
In my opinion this feature within logic Pro X is a real weakness.. I love logic but flex pitch is so unreliable.. come on apple sort it out .. it's 2022 not 2012 anymore
I agree. Flex stuff in Logic is a mess. It’s got to be the worst software implementation Apple has ever done. A frustrating experience. I think just the fact that Chris has to create this video and the many others on Flex is proof of that.
No matter how much you try to cover flex pitch's defects but they will still remain the same just like garbage. I don't quite understand why big tech giant like apple can't fix these things over so many years or may be they simple don't want to do so😏
meh, just sing it on key and leave it imperfect ... Not only are musicians increasingly becoming completely reliant on in the box instruments/ emulators etc , now when it comes time to actually use an organic analog type instrument like the human voice, people just can't help but to turn it into another synthesizer .... all this fine tuning is squeezing the life out of everything.

yah u have to do it multiple times if anything. so annoying but it works :)
Thanks for the video! I’ve always found Flex pitch to be destructive once the file is analyzed… I can never go back to the original take after I analyze it. For that reason, I bounce in place the take before enabling Flex pitch so that I can go back to the original.
I have run into this as well, sometimes.
Me too! How do I fix this?! In flex it sounds good pitch all corrected and ideal but once I go out of that it sounds completely ruined and robotic and I don't understand it! I need help!!
me too sadly
In the region box left hand side turn flex off and it should revert back to original

I luv your work and your ability to breakdown logic pro lessons into a simple format. This is Why Logic Rules bigtime. Thank you so much!
Lol I thought the vocal was playing back in reverse. Thanks for another great video Chris
Great tips, as usual. I always do Flex edits in the Editor but I’d never thought of re-bouncing as a way to try to overcome difficulties. Thanks, Chris!
Amazing thank you sir! I had the bounce down technique in mind before but I tried it again and it worked! Legend! 👑
Super Helpful! Just ran into this issue and was super frustrated until I found this one!

LOL i was not ready for the german vocal :D great video
Thanks for this video Chris! You answered all my previous bad experiences with flex pitch. Now I highly appreciate this program and I’m using it effectively, I just need to be careful though with some adjustments. Thanks.
my flex pitch makes everything go 2 times speed and i can't change it and i find no info on how to change it anywhere
That first version of Flex Pitch was indeed unreliable, haha. I haven't used it since. Thanks for sharing these workarounds.
Thanks for the great tips on Flex Pitch. It is a great tool but I ran into this problem several times unfortunately did not know about these tricks. Chris please create a video on basic mixing on drums, bass, 2 tracks of keyboards, 2 tracks of guitars and vocal.
Video is really helpful but please tell me why did you choose such vocal? 😅
Been struggling with these kind of problems, and found this video very helpful. Thanks! 👍🏼
Lifesaver with this one!! Thanks for the tips!
Thanks, this solved a lot of problems for me!
This is a great video, thanks man!! Love Flex Pitch.
Thanks for another great informative video Chris. 👍🏾
You're helping me man, thank you so much
super informative video as always, cheers chris !
Great Tips...As always! Thank you!
Thanks - nicely done as usual - and great info!
Have you noticed that "Analyze Audio for flex editing" no longer works as expected in Venura?
They fixed it!
very helpful, saved my butt while editing
Excellent video. Thanks!
Awesome tips! Thanks bro!
Very helpful! Thanks 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you so much for this video!
Thanks for these good tips! Didn’t know this! Sounds funny that you use a German example. I‘m Austrian, German language. 😅
Thanks so much! great video
Thank you !!!Very helpful tutorial
Thank you very very very very very very MUCH!!!!
Thank you SO SO much for this video
I’m curious about the preamp/interface you are using with the sm7b. It sounds great.
I thought that when you turn on flex pitch, it just analyses the notes, allowing you to make discrete corrections. I didn't think the analysis itself makes changes. I'm a bit confused.....
No matter how many times I look up the settings and use Flex pitch, I can never confidently remember the settings to use lol!
Thank you!

yes thank you!!! Great stuff!

Is there an option for randomize pitch of the entire track at once as there is in Melodyne? I can't seem to find it.
Does flexpitch work on comp stacks? I've run into some weird issues where i bounce in place, but flex doesn't work (even muting audio regions doesnt work) What would be the correct workflow after removing silence. Bounce in place, new track etc?
I couldn’t use it. I kept having to do some work around to try and get things fixed. I had to buy Melodyne,. That fixed all the issues for me.
How do you fix the issue when you-re using flex pitch but when you change it to flex time, all the adjustments done before won't save?
Really great tutorial thanks!!!!!
However, my logic usually stops running correctly whenever i split a clip in flex mode, and its not CPU or computer performance problem... Any tips anyone?
You ARE AWESOME
THANK YOU
I double click on the region and it stopped opening the window at the bottom of the screen. It did on my last session but now it stopped. Any help?
should you alway bounce it down when you have used it ,thanks
wow.. I was here scratching my head..Then my butt .. Then my head.. then my butt again.. I was wondering.. What in the world is going on!!.. i thought i was in the Twilight Zone..This fixed my problem 100%
In my project, meet the case one, but re analyse the audio still not work, the note are one line still T_T
Thanks
When do you personally use something else like Melodyne instead of Flex Pitch?
thank you
Nice!
Hello, even after using your technique, the bug persists, I am desperate, how to fix it?
Flex pitch consistently makes my breaths sound super rough, has this happened to you?
Does the analysis effect the audio even when flex pitch is turned off? Is the original take ruined?
I think you can turn it off and it goes back to the original audio

you will have to do it manually, especially with kick transients, there its a URM academy video explaning the whole thing
How is it great if you have to deal with this stuff? 😄
My flex pitch just freezes a lot lately :(
Flexpitch is a nightmare
I just want to hear the bass line for this german gem 💎
I’m done with flex pitch. It’s clobbered me too many times, gave up and bought Melodyne. Much better. I don't know why Apple ships Logic w/ Flex built-in with how incredibly bad it still is
Yep. Melodyne is a different class.
@@MonsieurVersatile I wish Logic came with Melodyne. Almost there. Functionality is there. Audio is garbage.
Step 1: get melodyne.. I really tried to like Flex Pitch but there’s a night and day difference
God... flex pitch sucks so much... it's been causing me so much headache through the years...
fr it’s so bad
In my opinion this feature within logic Pro X is a real weakness.. I love logic but flex pitch is so unreliable.. come on apple sort it out .. it's 2022 not 2012 anymore
I used cubase for years up until i went to logic in 2015.. but i have to say cubase version of flex pitch is brilliant compared to logics
I agree. Flex stuff in Logic is a mess. It’s got to be the worst software implementation Apple has ever done. A frustrating experience. I think just the fact that Chris has to create this video and the many others on Flex is proof of that.

Best fix, buy Melodyne

Come on man... it's not awesome...
4) buy melodyne, lol.
Thank you!
Excellent vid! Thank you.
Thanks
