  • Russell does his first fox fork work and tackles a Secus install. We go through the process of installing it and setting up the secus. Make sure and follow along as there are some critical steps to get right.

Thanks for making this! For anyone watching, it is WAY easier to get the old foot stud off if you heat with a heat gun for a minute.

This is true. I generally have not needed to, but it does break up the loctite red.

Is it just me or were a couple of steps skipped? Did you put oil in the air shaft (where the spacer / cap goes) and did you mention the extra 5ml of oil you need in air lower?

Thanks for this. What is the rider weight?
What’s the new HSR and LSR settings?

they are 220 lbs; I don't remember how many clicks of rebound. I will see if they respond and can tell me.

@@LoamRoamer thanks. so do you suggest running HSR and LSR faster/more open with the Secus on a 38?

looks like the secus foot stud can be installed without removing the air shaft from the top tube, enough of the air shaft exposed that can be easily clamped. any reason why the air shaft was removed?

It is better to use a vice to hold the shaft from spinning while doing the work, once you scratch the shaft it is game over.

Are u supposed to press the bleed nipples?
I noticed with my Secus that overnight, the initial force to break stiction was very stiff but as soon as I pressed on the fork, it would feel supple again. However, whenever this happens, I would press the bleed nipples and a lot of air would come out and the fork will feel extra supple due to there being 10psi less air. Any advice?

For clarification are you saying the bleed nipples on the back of the fork legs? Those should not have air that affects the fork air pressure in any way as this is trapped air in the lowers from motion and elevation change. However, if you do not cycle through the process slowly and carefully along the way you can get stiction from the air transferring between the upper and lower. The 10 psi is a normal loss each time you connect the pump. For a hand pump version, it takes about 10psi to fill the hose. For a floor pump shock pump is much more as the hose is much longer.

Supposed to be 20 CC in lower air side and 3 cc in upper air chamber

Until you add a Secus, then it changes.
