Just installed one in a lyrik on my rail. I have another rail with an acs3 coil in it. Should be fun to try them both back to back for awhile to see how they perform in different conditions. I did also end up long shocking both bikes to 170mm while I was at it.
@@chawkins45ify not enough time on them to tell a significant difference but they both feel really good once you get your spring dialed. I will say the Smashpot has more spring options and the ability to adjust travel without sourcing extra parts. The ACS3 is a bit lighter and uses 1/3 as much oil which also saves weight. Swapping springs is also significantly easier on the ACS3. I do also have the ACS3 paired with an HC97 damper where as the Smashpot is paired with an RC2 Charger 2.1 ultimate. I think if maximum performance and future proofing travel options is your goal then Smashpot is probably the way to go. But if weight savings and ease of use are higher on your list then perhaps ACS3. Both are amazing upgrades relative to the stock air spring. Both are still playful and have sufficient bottom out ramp for my needs
I have a marzocchi z1 coil (which is basically a fox 36 e-bike with a coil) where I fit a grip2 damper and it easily outperforms every fork I have ever tried (zeb ultimate charger 3, Fox 36 and 38 factory, Lyrik ultimate). Only one that comes close is the Manitou Mezzer Pro but it requires far too much maintenance.
I just got a 21 rail and am having the same "meh" reaction to the stock select plus zeb (and rear shock, as well). This pretty much confirmed that the smashpot is my next buy. What coil shock are you running on that rail and how do you like it?
Hey! Sorry for the delayed response. 100% think you'll like that setup. I'm actually running a fairly unconventional setup. It's a Fox DHX2 but I have a DVO progressive spring to get a bit more ramp. Loving it so far.
I was the same when I first got it but a lower leg and air spring service with thinner oil sorted it out. You absolutely shouldn’t need to do that for a new fork but that’s a different matter.

Any follow-up to what you think between the both?

Have you played with spring rate, what spring are you running on the Eb?
do you think adding this to a grip 2 fox 36 would be a good marriage with the rear push 11.6 on a v2 offering?

What do you think between this and the secus for an e-bike?
Does the base make a difference Select or Ulti?
I thought you couldn’t go back to air after the conversion? (Due to the marring of the inner walls)
That's what makes the smashpot amazing over competitors
@@iammarccc For anyone wondering. Website claims it’s only reverse able on the 38 or Zeb. 👍🏼
I have reversed a Lyrik to air with no problem

For us bigger riders, a few pounds doesn't really make a difference. I would rather lose a couple pounds off my belly than anything else.
I hate my 38s small bump is absolute garbage, especially on a £1200 fork.

No brainer on an ebike.
